If this is in deed true, then it's such a terrible and barbaric act. It's not supposed to be heard of, in this 21st century. Voodoo is evil! |
Our leaders have been playing with our intelligence for such a long time and we 'THE PEOPLE' are so docile and forgetful, just accepting everything the tell us. We cant even hold long our anger against fuel subsidy removal. For how long shall we slumber and sleep while these politicians are damaging our collective nationhood. Do we need a prophet to tell us, that d money that will acrue from subsidy removal will end up enlarging the already swollen pockets of these men in power while we 'THE PEOPLE' will be impoverished more. No matter the logics, permutations & combinations flashed to us, we should not be decieved. Historically, there has never been any working structural controls in-place to check and track how our money is spent in all sphere/level of government. We dont have independent ombudsman to monitor expense nor the character of office holder. We are heading to serious hard time if the fuel subsidy goes ahead and adding to it the effect of global economic meltdown, then we are finished. Hmn, we should demand accountability from our leaders at all times |
So sad that another talent is lost. Death is wicked! May his soul rest in peace. |
El-Rufai shuld spare us the obvious, who doesn't know that PDP is a party of political & high level criminal gangsters. ACN, APGA & CPC parades relatively lesser gangsters may be bc they're not yet at the center. Wait a minute, It is hard for me to knew what ideologies these parties stand for. Maybe a common idealogy - looting while the offer lasts. By the way, El-Rufai used to be one of them. Even though he's now in CPC, he's not a saint either. Whatever happened to restitution, |
Safety is one thing Nigeria as a nation has not taken so serious. Air, waterways & road safety is grossly inadequately enforced by govt in nigeria. People shuld however value their lives more by insisting on safety standards. So many lives have been lost carelessly and yet another 40 added. Na wa oo! |
While some of the Pastors mentioned in the video are instrumental to the explosion of pentecostalism in Nigeria and abroad, however I still think applying moderation in their display of wealth or God's blessing (any one) should have reflected self-control, maturity and model for other to follow but unfortunately it seems not the case. Looks like the private jet competition bug is getting at all of them and it is difficult to explain to anyone why a pastor should own 4 private jets in such a country like Nigeria where things are really terrible and much reasons why many go to churches to get solace. Moderation is the key !, even if you are so blessed like King Solomon! |
There are still some elements of respect for Nigerian amongst its African brothers even though we have huge image problem to clear Nigerians are very industrious, bold and darring in almost every field of human endeavour. My Gambian friend once told me that he sees Nigeria as America of Africa in terms of capabilities and exploits. I learnt about the movie 'Mr IBU' through SA/Namibian friends even though I have not watched it then. Nigeria has so so so much to offer Africa only that we are so unorganised and had not understood one another. |
Honestly, that 'ramp' on Falomo Bridge is good for its purpose but I can't beleive that it gulped N2.5 bn. Why? For what reason will it cost that much? Is it decorated with gold? Haba! |
T.A Orji have made such a dumb decision in 21st Century b/c of minimum wage! I tire for Nigeria, |
NNPC as it stands today is very very weak but I dont suscribe to scrapping it entirely. Yes, there has been policy changes here and their in its history as a NOC, but I think unless it is allowed to operate as a private entity without govt interference, it cannot fly. Other countries NOC's - Petrobras, Statoil, Petronas, etc are hitting it big and are global players. NNPC should aim at that, |
Still boils down to the fundamental issues sinking Nigeria everyday. We are so torn apart by many things - religion, tribe, language, culture, attitudes, belief and character. Peoples' comments here are tainted with one or more of these divisional factors. Where is the unity? |
I like his proposal. Whether it is in his domain as Chief Justice to say it or not is irrelevant. Drastic situation requires drastic action. Nigeria is almost reaching a boiling point. Let's try it first and see if it will not help us as it is being done in China. In future, when we get back to our senses again such that police will arrest you for offering bribe to him, then we can soft pedal and go for life sentences, etc |
The motives are obvious, better life! If the land is good there will be no need for permanent migration. How many Americans, Brits,Canadians, Aussies & likes leave their country for good when their land is good already. Nigeria is standing on a faulty foundation and until we go back and fix the foundation we will never escape the mental torture and stigma of being a Nigerian. We can cry to far heavens, whine, complain, shout and even run away from it but the problem will still remain - foundation has to be fixed! No one else but you and me will fix it if we want. |
Nigerians should grow up and fast! After 50years we are still not de-tribalized irrespective of our exposures and education. How can we be serious to fight our collective problems as a nation when we are so tribalised in thinking. What a mindset! We pretend we are one outside while inside we hate each other. A problem like this has nothing to do with tribe, it happens elsewhere as well perhaps in different format. Igbo/Yoruba hatred for each other is baseless b/c nothing is really at stake. We should not forget Hutsi/Tutsi case and the masacre. Was anything achieved? No wonder the people in power play with this tribal sentiment trap to insult our collective intelligence everyday. And we are here sectionalizing crime. Wake up! |
Nice words without action is like water poured on stones GEJ a word is enough for the wise, Nigerians need action now! |
The message is weighty and damning though the messenger is not saint. The wasteful spending did not start today only that Nigerians are too sleepy & carefree to bother about the happenings in government. We don't have serious watchdog or opposition (shadow government) to checkmate these guys. Looting will continue while the offer lasts (as long as we continue in our sleep) I like the courage of El-Rufai but he has to go a step further and come clean, then can we respect & listen to him. The same to OBJ. |
The writer made some good statement which some Nigeria parents and youths concerned need to work-on. Nigeria and UK cannot be compared economically, socially and education-wise. It's a system where virtually everythings works and hence plans/dreams can work too. Barred the current economic turmoil being experienced by Britain, I think they have a good model to learn from in terms of teen-adult transition. Contrary, this is quite difficult in a country like Nigeria where hardily anything works. You find out that it's extremely difficult to nurture a dream to fruition in Nigeria. Only extremely few lucky ones do. You start the test/hurdle with issues in education sector which is the primary budding ground for many Nigerians. It's currently in a very bad state. You'll be lucky to graduate plus NYSC at age-25yrs. Do we have guidance & counsellors anymore? From NYSC you transit to uncertain future. Gone are those days when you have many job offers even before you graduate from school. Now even with international degrees, there is no guarantee of sustainable job. And after a couple of unsuccessful hunts for jobs (where thousands are applicants), gradually your hope will turn to frustration and frustration to dispair, etc. To me, an average Nigerian youth (excluding the lazy, never-do-well and spoilt ones) is always willing and eager to hit the ground running at an early stage in life but the chances are very tight. The system is very bad. Theres is no social security, no plan for the future. The result is that the youth will fall back to their parents at least to survive. Nevertheless, there are some who are capitalizing on this and hardly make efforts on their own. Those one should change! |
Sounds to me like Dimeji Bankole when he was under EFCC. When two dogs are fighting for bone, it is senseless to intervene. Do not pity any of the parties involved. They are only fighting for political cum economical dominance. They're all greedy. Our lot is to wake up from our slumber and start demanding for what belongs to all of us. Shall we continue in self pity and bags full of complains without making a move? Newton's law of motion states about a body being in a state of inertia and will remain so, unless a force is applied to it. Nigeria cannot move unless we move. |
Nigerian politicians are wickedly greedy. They are reaping massively from our seemingly dysfunctional system. Nigerian masses are already economically traumatised being denied almost every basic needs of living for many decades. BAT or PDP and others are just political Mafias. They are not for the masses rather are fighting over political territorial dominance to continue the looting. Nigerians, we have slumbered too much! Wake up! Wake up! |
Nigeria is spiralling out of control! Do we have a captain at all? Who will think for us? We need urgent & radical solution. Boko Haram is getting bolder everyday. GEJ wake up from slumber. Don't allow the ship sink with you. For the Legislators, what goes round must surely come round. Why are they panicking? |
My heart bleeds! For how long will Nigeria as a nation continue in this wayward way without any plan about its future-not even in this 21st century. We have everything we need to be a giant but we have failed to cease every opportunity. Which way Nigeria! What can we do as individuals to help force Nigeria into the right track. I need inputs because we cannot continue to fold our arms and hope that it will one day get better without working for it. Where do we start? |
Nigeria is suffering from many diseases of which Boko Haram is one of it. The disease called Boko Haram have not been properly diagnosed by our doctors(Nigeria securities) to know the extent of it's spread and operation. At the moment it spreads like cancer but not as infectious as HIV(corruption). The poster is asking for cure when there is no clear diagnosis about the disease (Boko Haram). GEJ imported antibiotics from Israel as a temporary check after attack on UN building. When a disease (Boko Haram) is spreading like this, the best thing to do is to quarantine until the root cause of the disease is known and solution applied. At the moment there is no immunity nor immunization from the rampaging disease. Doctors without borders(US CIA/FBI) however can be of help at least on how to contain this disease otherwise it is possible to apply chemotherapy (Odi Style) or cut-off the infected arm (divide Nigeria into regions and let the North go there way). Research is still ongoing, |
The attitude of the custom officials at MMA is quite embarrassing but they are products of our corrupt system. Every uniform person in Nigeria that directly interacts with the public is corrupt, call it police, custom, immigration, prison service, road safety, lastma, yellow fever, etc. The system is so bad that sometimes you dont know whether to blame them or overlook them. What the eye sees in Nigeria can cause heart-attack. Remember the unscrupulous ones amongst us like it this way! Seriously, we need a new Nigeria! |
djustice, your view is quite respected but I think you are painting OBJ as god and the wisest with respect to Nigeria matter. PDP is not made up of aliens but human beigns who are Nigerian. The game is a game of power and power should belong to the people and not OBJ as you portray. OBJ is recently critizing NATO over Libya but he(OBJ) is NATO in Nigeria. |
If I may ask, which god did Obasanjo make covenant with concerning serving Nigeria till death? He has reaped what he sowed instantly. When he and GEJ upturned the rotation of presidency bw North & South, little did they know it will come back to them. OBJ don't have any moral right to say Tambuwal should go. The best thing he should do now is to retire and probably begin to correct his wrongs to Nigerians while he is still alive. Probably Nigeria will forgive him. Let Nigeria move forward jare! |
None of the key characters in the ongoing Libya crises is without blame. If Ghadafi has not stayed too long (42 years) in power with both local, regional(AU) and international image as a dictator perhaps this war would have been averted. Leaders should learn to call it a quit when the ovation is loudest than forcing yourself to stay on power against peoples wish. NATO to me is a military vehicle for western political and economic interest. If the international law says-national sovereignty should be respected then why should some signatories to the law now flaunt it. Who's fooling who, NATO is not fighting without a vend interest For OBJ, am not sure he has a moral right to condem and point fingers because he was in the same path as both Ghadafi and NATO. As Ghadafi because he ruled with iron power during his time and as NATO because he made caricature of 2007 election and forced Yar'Adua and many governors on people(e.g Andy Uba was settled to be Governor of Anambra for his service to Obasanjo). It's the same thing NATO is doing. |
Jonathan, has been up there (High Place) for roughly three years as VP and partially 1-year as Presido before being elected formally as President this year. I think he has learned enough to start making things happen. Nigeria as a nation is suffering from many diseases and we are looking for one miracle drug that can cure all diseases in one dose or even in many doses. Where is the drug? Jonathan ![]() |
