Bros, I lived, schooled and currently stay in Minna and I can tell you that in the 20 plus years I have been there, the place refused developing even after the like of A. A Kure and Talban Muazu Aliyu were there. As we speak , the town is a hamlet and the only place that might be slightly worse than it would be the capital of Jigawa

In as much that you wouldn't like to admit this the truth still remains that the state is developing. The pace at which that is happening is what I think is the issue.

Because prior to last year or last two years the state cannot boast of a major eatery now they have 2 I'm sure you know them. Plus other business are gradually springing up.

The problem is most people (indigene) of the state are mostly Civil servants and farmers therefore there's less circulation of money in the state that's why the state seems stunted.

Gusau is a joke compared to Minna. Just try visiting and you will be shocked to even comprehend that two pass presidents actually came from that place

Lol.. I was born and bred in Minna. So you see. If you say Minna is not commercial I will agree with you. But the town is not bad and it's still developing but Minna is not commercial at all..

If you want to live a quite and low key life then Minna is for you.

I haven't been to Gusau but I doubt if it outplays Minna.

Are you aware that Minna is a nucleated settlement? From Chanchaga to Maikunkele, the whole town is on one f**king line ...making it look as if it came from Usman Danfodio's era

You can only dispute his claim if you've been to Gusau.

Poor development and the atmosphere is naturally UGLY and unconducive.

Someone mentioned Gusau. I think he's right.

My own was a terrible mistake but i later got refunded that same day. I developed a script and wanted to carryout a test using usa 4g proxies which cost 100 usd per month. I was short of usd and wanted to pay via crypto using usdt but proxy vendor said he only acccept ltc, i dont have any experience with ltc instead of me to convert 100 usdt to ltc from binance i endup buying 100ltc which was equivalent
to 20k usdt that was about 10million naira as at then I transferred it to the 4g vendor, seller approved my acc and everything was cool not untill i check my acc and found out huge amount of crypto as disapeared in my acc.
I recheck and found out instead sending 100 usdt worth of ltc i sent the vendor 100ltc.
He only agreed to refund by confirming the source of the fund is from my acc, after confirming the source via tewmviewer he generated another ltc wallet and refund the 100ltc.
If am to deal via crypto it must be through stable coins else no deal.

Using LTC is to rid off huge gas fees tho.
Thank God he refunded you.

This is true, and there are lots of examples to support it. I'll list a few.

For example, the Nigerian communities in the west especially the US are known as the most educated and amongst the wealthiest groups, but this data glossed over one important part, and it is that the Nigerians in question are first generation immigrants.

Those ones that are called "fresh off the boat", or "booty scratchers" lol. These sets were hungry for success, calling up all the strength in them since they are faced with impending challenges such as permanent legal residency, finances, integration, establishment and so forth.

But after they've overcome these hurdles and started having kids who didn't face such challenges, their kids who are privileged just became regular Americans without the drive, hunger for success and ambitions their precedents had.

Furthermore, your point is supported by the widely recognised book that explains the states of most regions in the world titled "Gun, Germ and Steel" by Jared Diamond. The author posits that geographical realities are the basis for the evolution of human societies. The more deprived the societies are, the more likely they will be successful since they won't rely on nature, but on their ingenuity to thrive.

And if you observe our world today, this is self-evident. The global north is the most developed (Europe, North America aka the west), while the global south is not ( aka Africa, South America) . You can literally eat an orange and throw the seed on the floor, come back in a year and you have an orange tree in many places in the global south.

The warm weather, abundance of resources necessary to thrive, and relatively low population (pre 1900s) made it unnecessary for exploration in the global south, which made us content and coexist with nature. Also you'll observe that Europeans enslaved Africans in plantations such as Brazil, then ship all the produce to Europe. The South is naturally rich, simple.

This is not the same for Europe. In winter for example, the weather will kill you if you do not have shelter. Lots of homeless people are frozen to death during the peak of winter and it's not news. You may be broke in Europe for example, but you can hardly be homeless. Homeless shelter are everywhere for you to crash.

So yes, I actually agree with you. If Africa wants to get it right, we simply can not ignore the realities of geographical limitation, and build from there.

I enjoyed reading this! Looking forward to more threads from you.

But you don't win election in Nigeria with Excellent Speeches around the world. You need to play by the system first so you can change it ( in the case of Nigeria).

Iam a soldier. The democracy we borrow from the west gives human rights to everybody. What I do at my leisure doesn't not concern anybody. The Nigeria way of democracy is worst than military regime.
They treat us like slaves, we don't have right to associate, no right to say your mind, no right to even love. A slave In the US or UK is far better than us. Is it a crime for someone to decide to serve his country? They want to kill those women their dream just because of a video of their leisure time? No wonder someone called Nigeria "A DREAM KILLER "

I totally understand you. If you could scroll further you would see where I replied someone telling him that.

The Nigeria's public sector most especially the Armed forces are not civilized enough to disassociate work life and social life. I talk to a friend from Israel that's an Israeli army so I understand fully well where you're coming from. But in this case you don't put yourself in a situation where these people would take food out of your table(make you loss your job) all because you want to live out your life irrespective of anything.

Honestly, I think they mean well, but you know us humans have our weaknesses.
In my book, IBB remains the greatest Nigerian leader. Sometimes I wish he could have ruled Nigeria as a civilian president.
If he did, all the constitutional mess we have today would have been fixed by him, one way or another.
He would have perfected this union either by hook or crook. He was willing to experiment with revolutionary ideas, and some of his ideas survive till today!
In 23 years of Nigeria's democracy, we can't even restructure the country to make it work for everybody.
Imagine that we are still unable to amend a military handed constitution in 23 years! Na wa o.

BTW, a working (functional) Nigeria is far superior to any country(s) that can emerge from it.
And it can happen, with the right leader.

You're right. IBB is a great leader. He championed some major development in Nigeria without ethnic bias.

Nigeria is suffering. We need total overhauling. From top to bottom.

ASUU should go and rest. If they fail to call off this strike, they will be under pressure. Other unions like NASU,SSANU and NAAT that decided to call off theirs for 2 months inorder for FG to implement whatever agreement they had are not fools.

Useless union!!

If Universities are still shut and campaign starts, any APC politician weh come my side I go stone am to death. Useless fools!!

On a side note;
I wonder why state universities are on strike. All state universities should pull out from ASUU and form their union. Academic Staff Union of State Universities (ASUSU).

Atiku got no chance, you don't win elections especially Presidential election in Nigeria with just one region.

Atiku may be accepted by a section of the Northern population but he is a no no in the south. That's enough reason to lose.
Atiku can not get 25% votes in any Southern states.
You can take that to the bank.
Obi is holding sway in the South East and part of South South.
Tinubu is having South West, maybe some South South.
Even if Atiku gets the whole 19 states, he needs to win and get at least 25% votes in 24 states, that's the big huddle.

I'm still shocked that y'all think is only about voting.

Wake up mate!

If only I remained in the North, I would have tried to enlighten them more, although a few of them are enlightened especially The once who have come to the south other places outside Nigeria and are working hard to earn what they have as well as being educated, not the thieving elites
But the insecurity in the north has made it unstable and made them untrustworthy, I had to relocate back to the south, cause I’m a freeman and can’t close my eyes to wrong doings
The north learnt all this from the south, sometimes I feel they are well coordinated with these activities but their aim is grounded especially with their motives and actions

You truly know them.

The educated and wildly traveled once are very intelligent and civilized.
