On the contrary, the Uche Okwukwu's, the Wonwus and most assuredly your inlaw are claiming to be Igbos for the selfish personal interests..

The general consensus is Supreme over the selfish interest of your associates.

In any case, if they so love to be Igbo, they should move east into Igboland..they won't be missed.
Most times your comments puts you into silly trouble than you can ever imagine. I hate it when someone claims to be something, yet they keep making silly mistake. Wokem nye nga o ka ibu (speaking in Ikwerre), where did you say you came from again because my Emohua peeps are smart and hardly make such silly blunder. Be consistent wokem if you wanna chat intellectually with wene gi. Where are they located if not East. Apart from Ogoniland and Ijawland which neighbouring ethnic group stay close to them, if not the Igboid tribes. Maybe you are the only one around who see them in the West. Put on your glasses and tell me what you see. They are already in the EAST and nobody born of a woman can relocate them from that place.

Everyone tells his story. You cant tell yours and tell mine aswell..it is not acceptable.

Ikwerres have told the story of their origin, and the reason for the assumed similarity between them and Igbos..because Igbos arent comfortable with Ikwerre history that clearly and truthfully explain the situation of things, they now resort to insults on Ikwerres.

Ikwerres do not care how the Igbos feel about our documented history..We will stick with our history and proudly restate it over again when necessary...Igbos shouldn't waste time and energy bothering over issues beyond them.

Ikwerre remain neighbours with Igbos, neighbours courtesy of migration..aside that, nothing else.

Hope is at hand.
Ikwerre told their story my foot. Who told which story. Is it the useless story told by few men under duress for political gains and spread to younger ones in order to continue the cycle. But thank God that fake story stayed with areas like your community and not the whole of Ikwerreland. At least families like that of the Uche Okwukwu's, the Wonwu's and my in laws from Igirinta didn't buy that Edo nonsense.

No. An onitsha friend of mine once told me this that the edo are trying to do what their ancestors failed to do in the past. Instead of trying to force an oba, they believe if they change the history, the land automatically belongs to them.
Like did you know Onitsha peeps are actually not Benin descendants? I never knew that based on the stories I've heard but according to my friend, the Onitsha founder migrated from east to Benin and after having an altercation with the oba of Benin, he decided to head back home and on his way home is where he discovered Onitsha and decided to settle there along with the people that came with them. When I asked her why people claim Onitsha is from Benin... The answer she gave is pretty much the same scenario as anioma. Onitsha used to be also a trading spot for some Bini people so some stayed and also when Chima journeyed to Onitsha, some Bini people came with him so those people are the ones that threw away the earlier migration of chima to Benin kingdom. Tufiakwa.

I never used to believe it growing up because just like you I had few as friends but being on NL long enough, i truly can see what people say about Edo peep is a fact. I'm going to be watching them from now on.
You guys better watch out. As for me I have long debunked that Benin migration nonsense from the psyche of my Ogba cousins. Even the Benin ancestral lies is gradually dying in Omoku the same way it did pre-civil war.

Abagworo:
In as much as it is right to respect ones ethnic freedom, I find it ridiculous on how people try to twist history in order to refute kinship with Igboland. All Igbo speaking people from Igbanke to Ikwerre to Nsukka to Afikpo to Agbo and Abakaliki are simply descendants of Igbo speaking people of old that metamorphosed into different clans and ethnic groups.

It is true that some Igbos migrated out of ancient Benin empire and moved Eastwards but what is not true is that they were Edo before migration. Igbo was the language but they came under the rule of Benin during Benin expansion. The Benin styled leadership was used in ruling them either by one of Oba's sons or a Benin military leader or even an Igbo with allegiance to Oba. At a point the Oba became tyrannical and fell out with some Igbos who fled from their home. In Igboland its called "agha idu n'oba". Anyone can ask an elderly Igboman and he will confirm the story. Many of the Igbos that left Benin area as a result of "agha idu n'oba" settled in today's Southeast while others sort for virgin lands further South.

The evidence of this migration exists in Igbanke, Edo State and the line up of Onicha towns all the way to Southeast whom people call Umuezechime. The presence of Igbo speech in Igbanke suggests that it isn't a recent migration or borrowing of language from Southeast as they are located well off core Igbo speakers. The names Chime and Akalaka further proves they were already Igbo speaking before migration to the East.
There is an evidence of truth in your post. The Igbo never had an empire that subjugated neighbouring tribes, rather it was the other way round with the Binis. This is why there need to be an aggressive anthropological, archeological and genetical research carried out in Igbo areas with pocket of Benin influence to correct this anomaly and embarrassment roping the Igbo race. The SPIL and other Igbo donor international agencies should be at the Vanguard of this research to put this insults to an end.

FKO81:
House divided will fall
It's indeed, a landmark achievement by Ndiigbo in electing the first Ohanaeze President-General from a state other than the five South-Eastern States. This is a true demonstration of the height which we have reached and a direct response to those who say Igbos are well unable to forge any sense of unity among themselves. Many often interpret this saying to mean that Igbos, as viewed through the lens of those who occupy the South-East geographical zone, cannot agree on a common line of action, but in the broader sense, this also mocks the inability of Igbo brothers and sisters in the South-East and the South-South to stay united or at the least even openly identify with one another. A bold statement against those rejoicing over the disuntiy among Igbos has thus been made with the election of Ambassador Ralph Uwaechue from Delta State as the former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo.

Just as the election of Barack Obama as the first black President of the United States doesn't end racism, so does the election of Amb. Ralph Uwaechue, as significant as it is, doesn't end the need for a continued quest among Igbos to forge stronger ties across the Niger, as well as ensure that the now fading psychological line which demarcates the Igbos of the South-East from their brothers in Delta, Rivers and other States and vice-versa, is eventually, nay rapidly erased.

There are many ways through which unbridled unity can be achieved among the Igbo through the creation of a sense of oneness. Firstly, arguments from both sides of the divide should be greatly scrutinized and attended to.

On the side of the Igbos from Delta and Rivers States, various accusations that range from negligence, favouritism ... are traded. Igbos from these areas have said time and again that the generality of Igbos never officially appreciate or celebrate their sons and daughters when appointed in office, or when remarkable achievements are made by them. A good example is the appointment of Sir Mike Okiro as the Inspector General of Police, being the first Igbo man to occupy the position since after the civil war.

Igbos in the South East rather clamoured for the appointment of Ogbonnaya Onovo, on the grounds that, according to them, Onovo was an Igbo man and that the presidency deliberately didn't want Igbos to occupy such a sensitive position. What does that now make Mike Okiro? A tribeless person or an outcast?

Paul Dike's ascension as Defence Chief was better accepted by the generality of Igbos, perhaps due to the fact that lessons had been learnt from the embarrassing scenario which occurred during Mike Okiro's appointment. Infact, it's so bad that when Igbos learn of an achievement made by one of its sons, some stop in mid-celebration when they learn the Igbo person question hails from outside the South-East zone.

Some accuse the Igbos in the South East of selective acceptance, laying claim to only non-South Eastern Igbos who have achieved enviable landmarks in their chosen professions, like Jay Jay Okocha, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Kingsley Obodo, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Sebastian Adigwe, Francis Atuche, Nuel Ojei, Peter Okocha, Sunny Odogwu and a host of other super stars who all hail from Delta State, along with notable ones from Rivers State like Chioma Ajunwa, Comdedian Julius Agwu to mention a few.

South Eastern Igbos respond that those who they identify with are those who initially identify with them, like Jay Jay Okocha and Okonjo Iweala, even stating that sometimes, people forget that a luminary like Pat Utomi is not from one of the five South Eastern States because of the way he has freely and openly associated himself not just with the South East as a group of people, but with the entire Igbo nation, which he is one of.

Utomi needs no ones permission to flaunt his Igboness. Yet others are of the opinion that the South easterners shouldn't wait to be identified with before reciprocating, as such show betrays the consciousness that they are the self-appointed custodians of the Igbo nation.

Another argument from across the bridge is that the Igbos from the South East do not show much sympathy to the cause of their brothers outside their zone, in matters that require external support. An example is the current efforts by the people of Anioma in Delta state to create Anioma State out of Delta State. Inspite of the obvious gains this will have for the Igbos in that region of Delta State along with its easier intergration with their brethren in the South east, little seems to be done by the governors of the Igbo states or even the Ohanaeze in this regard.

On the side of the Igbos from the South East, numerous accusations of self-denial by the Igbos from Delta and Rivers States are at the fore-front of their grievances. They say that no matter where you meet a full blooded Igbo man from Delta, Rivers or Bayelsa State, he'll never admit to being Igbo. Some do so when you're with them only to recant once a third party comes into the picture, and they do so even more fervently when they are in the midst of non-Igbos, to the utter embarrassment of Ndiigo and of course, the perpetual astonishment and amusement of the non-Igbos who then, justify their stance that Igbos aren't united. After all, "seeing" they say "is believing."

It is essential to note that before the Civil War, such open disownment of Igbos by Igbos wasn't the case. The prevelance of this came as a result of Igbos who lived with non-Igbos in the old Bendel State and later during the creation of Rivers State with the Ijaws, etc, to believe that the loss of the war was a South Eastern affair, and so, for them to survive and escape the sanctions of the war by the Nigerian Federation, had to identify with their non-Igbo neighbours by denying being Igbo. This is inspite of the fact that an Igbo man from Delta State ( then Bendel State ), Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu, was the man who non-Igbos pinpointed as the catalyst to the war. Nzeogwu will be turning in his grave today, as Igbos from his very state and community disdain his utter sacrifice by denying him and their entire origin.

I believe that the time for these issues have come and gone. I will however, not fail to strongly blame the present generation of leaders and parent folk, the elders among them especially, for playing a role that on one hand, ensured that non-South Eastern Igbos told their children often and on, that they were not Igbos, while on the other hand, South Eastern Igbos told their children that they were real Igbos while anyone from the South East wasn't a real Igbo person. This went on even though parents on both sides knew that such mis-education was not true, but just to spite the other. The result is a divided Igbo nation that is just waking up from its deepest slumber.

As the tragic drama that has held us bound for so many years continues to disappear, I urge Ohanaeze, being the apex Igbo body and a source of common convergence for all Igbos irrespective of State of origin, to make very clear and deliberate efforts in bringing Igbos together through actions and re-educative efforts that include:

* The use of Nollywood to convey messages. As the Nigerian film industry is booming, the advantage that a majority of players in every sector of the industry are Igbos. Through the medium of films, many commentaries and documentaries a swell as modern epic block-busters should be churned out en masse, to re-educate Igbos and the young generation of what their origins are and who they truly are.

* Igbo authors should be commissioned to write on this incident, tracing the history of the Igbos and how we came to be at this stage, and possible solutions in their write up. Books and novels, both fictitious and non-fictitious, should be written to enlighten the populace.

* Joint developmental projects as initiated by the South East should also, at all times, be inclusive of the Anioma people and all other Igbos in the South-South. Always painting such projects as an all Eastern affair further alienates others. There's nothing wrong, or long in terms of grammar or in print, in saying or writing things like: " The Economic Summit of the South East, Anioma & Igbos From Rivers State."

* Inclusion of the History of Igbos in all schools that are situated in all Igbo speaking areas worldwide, with an emphasis on destroying the walls of hate and division that have been built between Igbos in different regions of the country.

* Strong endorsement for the creation of Anioma State. Let's not worry about the oil wealth of the southern part of Delta State being denied Delta North ( Anioma ). There's evidence that oil exists in the Anioma side of Delta State too, our enemies sees our weakness to divide us politically, when you go up north they are so many tribes Hausa, Fulani, Nupe etc Arewa people congress bind them together same with west, Yorubas , Ijabus, awori, egba are different tribes Oduduwa binds them together, often times Ijabus affirm their links with southern Sudan. House divided will fall, together will stand
Good one nwanne. Some of the things you highlighted have been achieved, while others are still in progress.

Foreign media have always been the first to give reports from war zones. NTA which is even owned by the FG is afraid to send correspondents there. Channels is the only station in Nigeria that sends correspondents to war zones. One of its correspondents, Enenche, died in Kano while covering Boko Haram activities.
Enenche's death was a sad one. However, did Channels remembered they lacked correspondence when they joined TVC in a macabre dance of shame to discredit GEJ's regime. Boko Haram's so called feat at that time was as a result of the negative publicity both TVC and Channels gave to the group.

You certainly have a point.

Yesterday, I was listening to a news item. I had to look at the TV to ascertain the station airing it. To my utter dismay it was Channels!

I just shook my head. Nigerians are notorious for being poor managers of success.
This is the point I'm trying to clarify. The Seun of an anchor has always been pro-APC and biased in his analysis whenever it comes to discussing burning national issues. Even these days, you'll observe that Channels hardly report bombings and economic tsunami's as they frequently did during GEJ's tenure, all not to be caught blemishing Buhari's saintly government.
Check these if in doubt!
1) Who first reported the twin bombings in Abuja and that of Maiduguri if not Aljazeera.
2) Who notified the world about the progom taking place in Adamawa by Boko Haram and the displacement of villagers in numerous IDP camps scattered across the North East. (Aljazera right!)
3) Who informed us about the exit of US JP Morgan from the Nigerian security market and the dwindling fortune of the Nigerian economy. (CNN)
4) Who is currently exposing the secret Fulani massacres of minority communities in the middlebelt.
5) Why is our best Nigerian TV station not debating in its political programme the flaws of PMB late ministerial submission and its resultant effects on governance and the economy. Like the embarrassment our dear President received at the UN as a result of being the only head of state at that gathering without a Foreign Minister.
So why has Channelstv suddenly gone passive these days?

boman2014:
Security agaents may be looking beyond the Boko Haram
sect in their investigation into weekend’s explosions in Kuje
and Nyanya in Abuja, The Nation learnt yesterday.

“It may be an opportunistic crime by people with other
motives. Boko Haram is not ruled out but nothing is also
ruled out. It’s investigation that can determine the true
situation and the investigation is in full swing,” a security
source said.

Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin, Secretary
to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal
and Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari led the
government team to the explosion site on Saturday.

Yesterday, security agents were still combing the Kuje site
for evidence. The place remained cordoned off. No
activities were allowed. Residents and pedestrians were still
shocked. No fewer than 20 people died from the explosions.
The 41 injured are being treated in hospitals.

Vehicles coming into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
were being thoroughly searched. Security operatives at
checkpoints within the city especially those along the
Airport road

involved in the battle against terrorism in our country,
rather it should reinvigorate their fighting spirit and be seen
by government as a challenge to arm our forces with more
sophisticated and superior weapons both for intelligence
gathering and combat.

“Beyond these, we urge our government to order the
immediate reinvestigation, arrest and prosecution of all
those previously indicted of sponsoring terror gangs,
especially Boko Haram and other such violent groups in
any part of the country.

“The freedom of those who sponsor deadly violence put the
entire country seated on timed bombs that can explode at
will. No matter how highly placed, whoever have been
indicted should immediately be apprehended and
reinvestigated now.

“We urge all Nigerians to see the battle against terrorism as
our collective battle and therefore every resident must
make information about suspicious movements or
behaviours in and around them available to relevant
security agencies who must act on such information in our
collective national interests.

“We condole with the families of all the victims of these
attacks and urge government to ensure provision of the
best medical attention and treatment for the injured.”
To the NLC, bombings “obviously by decimated terrorists”
are a call for communal vigilance by all residents. “It has
become obvious that since the massive pounding of the
sanctuaries of the terrorists, fragments of the terror cliques
may have organised smaller cells in communities hitherto
thought not to be vulnerable.

“These latest attacks are particularly dangerous as they
were carried out at night and in locations where late
purchases are made. One of the locations, Kuje, is on the
route to our major international airport,” the NLC said.

So Olu Falae himself lied? He said his kidnappers were fulani, and even recounted the warnings from them to him. Someone is trying hard to distort the truth here and push the blame on another ethnic group.
The YAMS (Yoruba Association of Muslim Sycophants) of the SW are trying so hard to divert the blames on the innocent Igbos. Be wise oh ye true sons of O'odualand and smell the coffee.
Olu Falae himself said he was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen.
Yinka Odumakin and Afenifere reiterated the same thing. Would you now believe the paid APC goons over your distinguished Yoruba patriots. Be wise!

BUSTED: True Identity Of Twitter User Who ‘Predicted’ Boko Haram Bombings REVEALED (DETAILS)

The social media have been awash with reactions from several users ever since a Twitter user with handle “@chimaokoro63” ‘predicted’ the Boko Haram bombings that rocked Abuja on Friday, October 2, 2015.

@chimaokoro63 Thursday, October 1, 2015 wrote: “I pray for Nigeria: There will be a bomb blast n Abuja&Lagos, Boko Haram is going to attack and kill police_army_Navy their evils:”

Barely a day after his supposed ‘prediction’, the Kuje and Nyanya areas of Abuja were attacked by Boko Haram insurgents leaving scores dead.

The man had initially changed his handle from @chimaokoro63, to @chimaokori633 but subsequently deleted the account Saturday, October 3, 2015 after several users attacked him and called on security agents to arrest him.

However, the man’s mobile telephone number was later gotten on Facebook.

A probe of the number on True Caller application however, revealed that the user’s name is Sadiq Hono, apparently not even from South East descent as indicated by his Twitter handle.

The brow raising discovery has caused a fresh stir across the social media with a handful of users wondering if the said man is a member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

One user wrote: “Boko Haram using an Igbo name” while another added “This has been going on for so long, if you see an Igbo name supporting the haramist, just know it’s an avatar!”
He was never an Igboman. Anybody can clone a moniker for God sake. A good example is nairaland where we have thousands of fictitious imposters hiding under the keyboard. IPOB and other Biafran agitators should be careful with their boast because some Islamic cowards from the SW and their Fulani overlords have sinister intentions to rope them into crimes they never committed.
