zimoni: I'm with you TonyeBarcanista.
It's good to have this discussion now than to have another South Sudan in nearest future.
You can't force yourself on people who do no share the same ideology with you.
If Singapore that is not bigger than Bayelsa could exist as a country, what stops Ijaw nation from having their own nation? Must they form a country with Igbo's?
This discussion is important now before it's too late. People are reading and learning.
Every man for himself.
To Your Tent Oh Israel.
And, the emotional ones should stop bashing Tonye. He had to say the truth even though he's partisan. God bless you. Ijaws should agitate for their own nation, Edos the same, while Igbo forms one nation with its sub-groups. There, nobody will be at each others throat. |

atbu1983: ignore them. they are cry baby who depend on deceit.
i have said it several times. PDP and APC are Nigeria parties not Niger delta party, Any Niger Deltan can support PDP or APC.
South south people can disagree on political issues. But when it comes to our ethnic issues we are one. we are not for sale. if they cant understand you, ignore them completely. Usual land grabbing tactics of grouping every ethnic group in the South-South as homogeneous. I have warned you to speak for yourself, you land thief with an underlying agenda. You're Edo and that is how it should be. The same way I as an Igbo have no right to speak for an Urhobo, is the same way you have no damn right whatsoever to speak for others. atbu1983: When I say most nationalities in Niger delta including Ndoki,Ikwerre, ika, Anioma are descended of benin, all these Igbo land grabbers will start making noise. They dont know history.
I summary, there is no Igbo in Niger delta. You only have some nationalities who have interacted with Igbo for a long time and borrow some Igbo culture along the way. That does not make them Igbo.
Today we from edo state from benin understand the following fact and we accept it completely: Ikwerre is Ikwerre. They are no longer Benin and where never Igbo. Ika is Ika. They are no longer Benin and where never Igbo. Anioma is Anioma. They are no longer Benin and where never Igbo. Esan is Esan. they are no longer Benin. Ndoki is Ndoki. They are no longer Benin and where never Igbo. Urhobo is Urhobo. They are no longer benin. Isoko is Isoko. they are no longer benin Itsekiri is Itsekiri. they are no longer benin or yoruba
These niger delta nationalities are now developed enough to be a complete tribe of thier own. The fact that they have common acestry from benin, does not mean they cant be a tribe of thier own. After all we all came from Adam and Eve including Arab, chinese, europeans etc.
Igbo should allow these nationalities be. They are not Igbo but distinct nationalities. Igbo should grow up and move on.
Fulani, yoruba, Igbo, chinese are all product of adam and eve. but today are distinct nationalities. Therefore all niger Delta ethnic nationalities are distinct nationalities.
Igbo please leave Niger delta alone Speak for yourself Land thief. Your land grabbing and ethnic identity tactics have been exposed on numerous occasion here, yet your repulsive attitude wont want you to call it a day. It's high time patriotic Igbos rally round and put these Edo people in check. End every diplomacy with them and give it to them so hot in a language that they will understand. You can never please these folks. The chanters of 'we South-South' will not learn until you take a cue from the Hausas and Yorubas. The Odua'a nation comes close to my heart for one thing, and that is it's ruthlessness against these land grabbers. @Afam4Eva, I think you should keep shut when matters as these are discussed. Your myopic thinking has beclouded your sense of reasoning that you sit down comfortable in that your village to type poo. What about us who are stuck in here with the so-called minorities. With what we see here on nairaland and the lies flying the air, one could easily tell that a future Niger-Delta country is a disaster in waiting - with numerous minorities at each others neck. We do not want to be part of it. We rather share a country with people we have historical and linguistic relation with. Its a fact that what is saving the S/S from doom is just the unity of Nigeria. Nevertheless, even if many of you nitwits from the SE relegate us to our fate, we will never be deterred from fighting for what is ours. |

Chibudom Nwuche despite being Ekpeye has always identifies with Ohaneze Ndigbo. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chibudom_Nwuchewww.osondu.com/igbosummit/guestlist.htmAs for Peter Odili he knows where he belongs now than ever before. Mr Rivers man has been put in his place and his Presidential ambition dashed by Ijaw led Edwin Clark. pazienza: Lol! So it's now by force for Ndiigbo to support rivers people in their internal elections.
Dakuku is a nice guy, he has no problem with Ndiigbo, he is Amaechi disciple, and under Amaechi, SE didn't have any problem with Rivers. Infact under Amaechi, Abia was able to recover her oil wells erroneously ceded to Rivers, Amaechi moved on and didn't take his frustrations on SE settlers in Rivers state. If Dakuku wins, he will be eager to suck up to Ndiigbo, because he will still need our numbers in 2019.
You see, for a politician, it's all about elections, the end of one election marks the beginning of preparations and strategies to ensure victory in the next election.
Wike is a good guy too, he is no fool, if he manages to win this particular battle, the APC will still be hot on his heels, in preparation for 2019 elections, he wouldn't want to alienate Ndiigbo in Rivers, he is a thorough breed politician and knows the importance of numbers in politics, and with the APC controlling the rigging apparatus in Nigeria currently, Wike Will know that he will still need Igbo votes in the future, as rigging is no longer an option.
So, in essence, the scenario you painted is juvenile, and out of touch with present and future realities.
Dakuku or Wike, Ndiigbo in Rivers will be fine.
And neutral we must remain.
Enwe di! Let the truth be told. It was even under Amaechi that the Port Harcourt / Owerri express way, was dualized and connected to greater P/H. Amaechi conceived the greater P/H idea and gave our forgotten Egbema and other parts of Rivers state a thorough facelift. Amaechi's major offense was his supposed battle against Patience Jonathan. The rest is now history. |

Politics › Re: The Biafran Intention Exposed by Eastlink(m): 8:56pm On Oct 21, 2015 |
Ricovendetta: FACTS ABOUT BIAFRA! (1) Biafran agitation has nothing to do with HYDROCARBON/CRUDE OIL deposits in Niger Delta. Imo, Abia, Anambra are currently oil producing states in Nigeria with huge natural gas reserves, not forgetting the enormous untapped coal deposits in Enugu! (2) Biafra is not land-locked. It has numerous access to the sea, including through the River Niger. (3) Biafra entire population is about 35 million people which is greater than the population many advanced countries in Western Europe, including Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Austria....etc (4) Biafra does not or in any form signify war, violence, armed struggle or any sort of physical confrontation. BIAFRA IS NOT WAR! It simply means political, economic and socio-cultural freedom from a feudalist State ruled by terrorists and Jihadists. (5) Biafra is not a call for massive exodus to Igbo land. Put differently, every Igbo or Biafran must not live in Biafra land. Those who wish could still maintain their residency wherever they are as well as own properties anywhere in the world, including Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Abeokuta…etc. (6) Independent and sovereign Biafra will never translate to loss or forfeiture of landed properties of her citizens in Lagos, Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria. There are many domestic and international treaties, conventions and laws that protects Assets of non-citizens everywhere in the World, that will apply appropriately. (7) The NEW BIAFRA shall be a coalition of desirous and willing ethnic nationalities in defunct Eastern Nigeria and would never be a forceful annexation of any unwilling ethnic nationality within its current geo-political definition. Ijaws, Ogonis, Ibibio, Anangs, Efiks, Ogojas, and host of other ethnic NATIONALITIES shall possess the privilege to decide whether to tango politically with their Igbo brethren or go their own separate ways.. ( Biafra is a train of peace and liberty. A desire for liberation from institutionalised stumbling blocks like quota system and federal character principles in Nigeria’s quasi-unitary society. It is a movement against internal colonialism, tribal gang-ups, economic marginalisation and political subjugation of Igbo and her minority neighbours. (9) It has nothing to do with hate, bigotry or ethnic chauvinism. Just a desire to live in a healthy society where your tribe, tongue, religion or creed does not define who you are or how far you would go in your career! Uju Nwokorobia

pazienza: You lots never cease to amaze me. You speak like SE is totally homogeneous.
You forget quickly why Ndiigbo never developed an empire in the past, we all cherish our distinctions, no one want to give up a part of his Igbo group to be whole with another Igbo group.
Just as Ndoni craves for autonomy, so do Nkanu, Ngwa, Ndoki, Izzi, Ezza, etc.
The very idea of the whole SE uniting to Lord it over any other group is but a propaganda, seeing as right within the SE. each Igbo group also crave for autonomy.
Biafra will be divided in such a way as to reflect that aspect of who we are, ie our innate need to remain distinct, autonomous, and having niches of our own, within the Igbo or Biafran nation as the case may be.
Biafra 1.0 was divided into provinces that reflected this very Biafran characteristic. This is what I crave for. A peoples republic of Biafra that is based on mutual understanding for one another. A Biafra practicing fiscal federalism, semi-autonomous provinces or regions by people with shared beliefs. I myself crave for the day my folks in Rivers state would be reunited with our kinsmen in Imo state. Maybe under an Orashi province with the Ohajis, Ogutans and Ndonis. |

Shymm3x: Anyway, there's always a silver-lining even in the worst things - just as a dead clock is right twice a day. Kanu, despite his hateful, distasteful, and comical shenanigans - he has been able to create an international awareness for Biafra again. And the world is watching. So, it's time for educated South South and Igbo folks to form a separate group, to probably run parallel to what he's doing, with peace and diplomacy, as the nucleus of their struggle. While keeping secession as the ultimate prize - but autonomy as a consolation if they can't attain the ultimate prize via negotiation.
Once they do that - other folks are going to start demanding the same thing. Outright secession, without bloodshed looks like an impossible task right now, but they can always get autonomy, if they play their cards right.
The zoo has to either collapse or be restructured with autonomy - it's 2015 and the zoo will never work the way it's. You're different from many Yorubas have met here on naira land. More matured and wise. |

What is the essence of leaving slavery to enter another round of slavery? - It would be better for the Niger Delta people to secede on their own and pay the heavy price at least we died for something then they can have the Niger Delta all themselves than leave another form of slavery only to join another one with our eyes open - That is totally unacceptable.
Until the Igbos stop classifying other minority group of the Niger Delta as Rivers Igbo and Delta Igbo ,no deal and to the death with one Nigeria after all we have paid with our environment what else can we not pay with? I know a lot of Ogba dudes who hate to be called Igbos. I also know of many who are proud Igbos. Now, how do you now classify those who want to be attached with the mainstream Igbos. This is a big dilemma you folks are faced with. But, for us in Egbema we know who we are, some want to hide from being called Igbos, yet deep down in their heart they cannot run from it. I also understand the pains of the mainstream Igbos. They hate to see someone with the same name with them, similar language and culture deny his identity. A balkanized Igboland is something they hate to see. |

No matter how far I run from being labelled an Igbo, the closer I get to becoming one. I am Igbo and that is my choice. I respect your decisions Truck Pusher and must commend you for your maturity on this forum. You're a true Niger-Deltan. You raised some valid points, some of which Pazienza is yet to answer. Many of us wish to share a common country with the SE Igbo, a Biafra of many ethnicities built on mutual understanding. But even at that, we still don't want to be caged inside a future country that won't respect our decisions. Especially the decisions of the minorities amongst us. The South East Igbo rather than be emotional whenever issues that concerns the minorities are raised, should sit down put themselves into our shoes. Let us sit down in a round table and chat the course of what the new country should look like. A guy called Carnegianfan has given me a glimpse of the how a confederated Biafra would look like. But I'm still not satisfied, especially as Nnamdi Kanu is still running the show. The Biafra movement needs revolutionary and charismatic leaders that can understand the fears of the minorities, and plan the future country without it sliding along a superiority and inferiority line - akin to a master servant relationship. |

I am not against self determination of any kind from any part of the country but deliberately spreading falsehood while masking it with all sorts cheap propaganda that smacks of land grabbing and regional annexation is another form of what is happening in Nigeria where the rest of the states wants the Igbos to remain despite their kick against the oppressive system of the Nigerian state.
Your deliberate distortion of historical facts to sooth your agenda will only alarm these people that you want to force into your struggle and there lies your downfall. I'm sorry Truck pusher, but I beg to disagree with you. I speak for my people and them alone. Everyone in Rivers state see my people from ONELGA as Igbos. I could remember when then Governor Peter Odili aspired to represent Rivers state in the primaries for PDP's presidential ticket. He announced himself as a Riversman only to be called out by the likes of Edwin Clark and other Ijaw politicians as an Igboman representing the Igbos and not Rivers. That among many comments was responsible for what pulled him down during that period. Many of my kinsmen accepted that insult in good faith and moved on.
