Goodboiyy:Even though I don't support Nnamdi Kanu's approach, I still acknowledge him for daring to do what I myself cannot even try. Nnamdi just like all humans is fallible and has his faults. But that doesn't mean he owns the agitation , or that he will become the decision maker in a future Biafran republic. Events have proven that Kanu is just one individual in the struggle. The Biafran movement is people oriented, people motivated and not for one person. I laugh when you talk about restructuring Nigeria. Let's face the truth will the north allow you restructure Nigeria. Will they even give us 50 percent control over our oyel. Even the 13 percent derivation had to pass through torns before it was approved. I hate it when people talk about restructuring Nigeria. I have been hearing these words since I was born and till now nothing has happened. We were witness to how the north kicked against the recommendation of the last SNC report and how it was swept under the carpet immediately they found themselves in the corridors of power. The north is like a spoilt child overfed with cookies and sweets. They would never allow a restructuring that doesn't put their interest first. And me I would never succumb to a future northern sponsored restructuring that seek to maintain the status quo. So get it into your head, that Nigeria will never be restructured as long as the north lives. |
Goodboiyy:This is why I detest discussing sensitive issues as this with some of my SS family. You've gotten on my nerves now. As an Itshekiri dude, you should be well informed about the ethnic make up of the SS. So because many of us decide not to deny our Igbo identity and join the Biafran agitation, does it now make us irrelevant in matters that concern the SS. I agree that the Biafran agitators should learn to work with other SS non-Igboid groups, at least to allow them make their own choices, but please learn to to use the term SS as a geographic area in its own context to separate other ethnic groups who make up the region like Ijaw, Urhobo, Ibibio etc to drive home your point. Thanks |
@Goodboiy, you made a point. I never liked the idea of adding groups like Itshekiri into the Biafran project. Maybe a referendum will determine the people's real position. Either to remain in Nigeria or join an O'odua or Edoid republic. |
ishiamu:Tonye does not speak for the South-South. Every ethnic group speaks for themselves. Even within his Ijaw enclave he only speaks for himself. I will take the words of Joseph Evah a true Ijaw activist than an online warrior as Barca. Folks like Evah, Asari and even Preye understands that for an Ijaw Niger-Delta Republic to become feasible, they must work hand in hand with the Igbos. |
OZAOEKPE:You are rational, but the truth remains that many of your Edo folks are anti-Biafra. Apart from the north and SW, Edos are next in line with those who wish that the Biafran project fails. The comments from many Edos I have come across in real life and online confirms it. Even most Edos like Mulatoclaro and one other lady (don't remember her moniker) are always quick to wish genocide on the Igbos for no good reason. Even if a referendum is conducted today in Edoland, you'll find out that majority of your people will vote to stay in Nigeria. So, methink both IPOB and other Biafran group are simply counting their eggs before it hatches. So you guys should look inwards rather than threaten to thwart the Biafran agitation if not added to the map. |
The Economics too has joined the movement. Truly, Biafra is unstoppable! |
Resource control will not be given to the Niger-Delta on a platter of gold. Not when the north still wields the political stick and not when folks as Truckpusher and Barcanista still roam this region. I have always admired Annie-Briggs but the truth remains she is just a lone voice crying in the wilderness, the same as Joseph Evah. Other so-called freedom fighters as Edwin Clark, Tom Polo, Ateke Tom, Orubebe and even Asari are just opportunist after their stomach. Asari though still has a pan-ND calling, but others are simply the problem of the South-South. Weren't these folks the ones who promised hell after the loss of GEJ in the polls? Wetin con do their voice now? The north may be a problem, but the major problem of the South-South is the South-South. We have blind leaders who are myopic in their thinking, whose fight for resource control is not for the interest of the collective whole but for the interest of a few. Resource Control would only be feasible when a true revolution is carried out by the ordinary people with a sole aim of carving an independent republic of the Niger-Delta in alliance with the republic of Biafra. Any other so called vituperation for Resource Control is akin to noise making and indecisiveness. |
Nice article bros Preye. You're a true big brother. |
I sorry for Nigeria. Which way Naija! |
Afam4eva:So Afam even knows Egbema. Wonders! Yet, you are one of the most vocal myopic Igbo antagonist who usually kick against our reunion with the SE. You are always quick to refer to Igboland as simply the 5 SE affair. |
COORDINATOR of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Evah in this interview calls for unity of purpose among political leaders of the Niger Delta extraction. He opines that with a common voice, the long expected development of the region may become realistic. By Charles Kumolu What is your perception of the state of the nation? The way the Federal Government is handling the Biafra agitation in the East is very dangerous. They are taking the wrong steps by ignoring the agitations that are going on. For the first time since the end of the civil war, we are seeing an organised agitation. The Igbo man cannot ordinarily abandon his business for something else, but now we are seeing Igbo men leaving their businesses in order to agitate. That tells you that they are serious. Seeing them sacrificing their time, energy and money, should be enough to make the Federal Government interested in the matter. Threats by the army, are not acceptable. We expect the government to tell us why they are detaining Kanu. Intimidation did not work when we had our Kaima Declaration during the military era. When they threatened us, we became resilient. Do you think the Igbo man has a cause to protest? Yes, the Igbo have something to protest against just as the Ijaw man has something to protest against. Why are they denying the Igbo the right of seeing their son, who was arrested? They can’t be denied that right. I went to court to stop the dredging of the River Niger during the military era because there was no environmental assessment. The government under Abacha awarded the contract through the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF. I went to my lawyer, Femi Falana and we stopped the dredging through legal process. If the government had not obeyed the judiciary on the matter, we would have resorted to other alternatives which would not have been in the interest of the government. I questioned the justification for wanting to have a sea port in Baro in Niger State, while our ports in Warri, Koko and Akasa were moribund. Justification for seaport in Baro They wanted to dredge the River Niger from Warri to Onitsha and to Lokoja before finally connecting it to Baro, which is close to Abuja. So the government should listen to the Igbo the way we were listened to during the military. Do you think the Niger-Delta region is fairly represented in Buhari’s government? Niger Deltans are not well represented in the government and we don’t know why they are doing that. Maybe it is being done because the region produced the immediate past president. But those, who may be thinking in that direction, do not have conscience. If you look at the way Jonathan worked, it will not be difficult to know that the north benefited more from him. He did that because he believed in the unity of this country. And the new administration has also started treating the Niger Delta people wrongly. For instance the Urhobo nation which is a sophisticated ethnic group has not been given any appointment. We have not seen any solid appointment that befits the Urhobo nation and we are asking them to correct this type of insult. But Jonathan was also believed to have insulted the Urhobo nation in that regard? Well, you must have seen my publications. I Joseph Evah, I told Jonathan, ‘You are embarrassing the Urhobo people.’ I don’t do Ijaw struggle, what I do is Niger Delta struggle. That has been our major setback. To see yourself as Ogoni man, Itsekiri man or Ijaw man and so when we are divided the external oppressors will now deal with us. A number of persons from the Niger Delta region felt that the Ijaw took over everything and looked down on the rest of the Niger Delta people when Jonathan was in power? A lot of our people were actually misbehaving and we cautioned them. They were behaving as if this was the time for Ijaw people as if it was Christmas Day and the Christmas Day is forever and we cautioned them. We tried to caution them that Jonathan was representing all Niger Deltans. In fact, not only the Niger Delta, when people tried to make Jonathan an Ijaw President or tried to do as if Jonathan ends with Ijaw we tried to warn them that it is very dangerous. For example, 100% of the Igbo committed themselves to Jonathan’s presidency. That was why when Ojukwu died, I organised farewell to Emeka Ojukwu. I mobilised over 5000 people to the National Theatre. I paid N1.5 million to mobilise over 5000 people to take over the National Theater for us to celebrate Ojukwu. The Eze Ndi Igbo were there. I took micro finance loan to organize it and I announced it. Jonathan presidency The reason was that during the war, we did not follow the Igbos. We supported the northerners against our Igbo brothers. Now, Jonathan is the President of Nigeria, Igbo had to forget about the way we maltreated them during the war, collectively decided to support Jonathan. Now, the symbol of Igbo greatness, I call him the Ndi Igbo Black Moses, that is Ojukwu, I said there is need for us to celebrate Ojukwu. We will not allow Ojukwu’s burial without the Niger Delta people celebrating Ojukwu. That was why I organised that and thanked the Igbo for forgiving us because during the civil war, we joined outsiders to kill them. Today our son is the President, you Igbo decided to forgive us. There are calls for the extension of the amnesty programme, which will end by December. Can you tell us the justification for such calls? The training of the ex-agitators is still ongoing. Many of them still require to be trained. Even the trained ones are jobless. If the APC government is talking about N5,000 Social Security for the jobless, they should consider extending the amnesty programme because the idle mind is the devil’s workshop. It is not that we are encouraging people to be lazy. We are only concerned about how to make our youths productive and self sufficient. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/ndigbo-have-forgiven-niger-delta-for-civil-war-betrayal-evah/ |
Thought provoking letter. |
IGBOSON1:You hit the nail on the head. |
Kudos to the northern youths for daring to do what their greedy and parasitic leaders couldn't do. For the record, the youths have shown their opportunistic and selfish elders that northern Nigeria has what it takes to survive as a sovereign entity. The food is the there, the untapped solid minerals is there as well as the huge population and land mass. Let the youths take their destiny into their hands and push those corrupt folks into political oblivious. Let them chart a way forward for themselves just as IPOB and the Niger-Delta youths have done. The youths of the north can achieve their aspiration when they toe the path of intellectual activism and not blood shed, of which is synonymous with Boko-Haram. Arewa Republic is the main solution to northern underdevelopement the same way Biafra is the light for the East. |

Observing! But you are on point though. |
Where is Barcanista to dispute this. |

Wonderful thread! Let me kick start the intro. I'm a proud nwafor from Okwuzi Egbema, Onelga Rivers. Let me flow in my dialect. Biko, ujor ajola unu, obu nwa si na ali iyi orashi ne keli unu. Chinike Kere uwa je weta ani bu umuigbo, udo la ihu nanya la ekiti ani. Ana ma sukashi threadi ahu li'me obara Jesu Christi. Kanyi ja l'udo. Egbema bu ali nzor. Egbema nma nma nu! Ikwerre ali dike meka o! Oyigbo nma nma nu! Etche meka o! Rivers nma nma nu! Igbo kwenu! kwenu! Igbo kwezuo nu! Yaa! |
Ikechukwu e don do. Take am easy! You and I know that the two Izon musketeers and their Edo fanboys are only day dreaming. Nothing of such will ever gonna happen, it's just a figment of their imagination. |
Nice article though, but let me put it this way. Oba Akenzua - Edo Hero. Chief Dennis Osadebe - Anioma Hero. David Ejoor - Urhobo Hero. Awolowo - Ilaje Hero. Nana Ologboshere - Itshekiri Hero. Isaac Boro - Ijaw Hero. Ken Saro Wiwa - Ogoni Hero. Philip Effiiong - Annang Hero. Eyo Ita - Ibibio Hero. King Jaja - Opobo Hero. Margaret Ekpo - Efik Hero. Matthew Mbu - Ogoja Hero. Obi Wali - Ikwerre Hero. Anthony Enahoro - Ishan Hero. Nnamdi Azikiwe - Naija Hero. Ojukwu - (Ahoada, Etche, Egbema, Oyigbo) Hero ( My Hero). Now can you see that every group in the Niger-Delta have their own heroes. |
pazienza:Niger-Delta republic loading... Edo/Ijaw commonwealth. Haha. Dem dey learn, if dem think say we go join them enter servitude. |
Obiagu1:The purpose of the 13% oil derivation serves to help uplift the standard of living in the Niger-Delta. Its like giving us a stake in the oil that comes out from our ground. However, the oil curse has been the main cause of the aggression the Ijaws have towards the Igbo. Oil is like life to an ordinary Izon. Check from the struggle of Adaka Boro down to MEND, oil has always been the pivot on which they hang the ideals of a future ND republic. While the Ijaw landgrabbing campaign is geared towards amassing large chunk of lands, the oil strategy is to maintain a foothold of major oil bearing states of the ND. If they are not dragging land with the Ilajes and Itshekiri, then they are dragging with Edo and Akwa-Ibom. Oil breeds laziness. Look at the Ikwerre to have bought this lazy mindset, only the Ogoni's tend not to rely on oil since chasing out Shell from their lands. For us in Egbema, oil has never replaced farming, education, trade and hardwork. But for peace to reign in the Niger-Delta, I think the 13% derivation should be left alone. |
ishiamu:Mister man I mentioned Ijaws not Eleme. Eleme is never an Ijaw community. There are a distinct ethnic group entirely. An hybrid of Igbo and Ogoni, but in language and name they seem more closer to the Igbo. If you're talking about the known ethnic Ijaws, then you need to travel to Rivers to find out. |
doublewisdom:To hell with this propaganda. Majority of the Ijaws don't want Biafra. At least 90/100. This is the truth and many of you fools should live with it. Focus on how to unite your brothers in the SE/SS under one Nigeria. Biafra will come when due. |
princdebola201:Sir, this matter big pass you oh. May you verify first before you conclude who is the real landgrabbers. |
madenigga:My brother when many of us were drumming it into the ears of the SE Igbos not to include the Ijos into their republic they thought we were daft. Had we had Lower Niger Congess it may have been feasible. The best bet of the Igbo is to remain in Nigeria and fight for their interest even deceptively till Nigeria ends on its own. The Ijaws will always have landgrabbing and aggressive linings towards the Igbos. This is because they have scarce lands and are always eyeing Igbo areas to make up for what they lack. The Niger-Delta republic is just a tool to achieve that aim. I pity some of my brothers who still see these folks as allies. Your close allies for now are the north and to an extent the SW. You guys should learn politics and play it with your head and not your heart like Zik. Those of us who hail from Rivers know the antics of the Ijos like the back of our palm. The few years we spent under Ijo dominated Rivers was tortuous and hellish. That even Saro Wiwa became overwhelmed and started his agitation for an Ogoni only state devoid of Ijo wickedness. This is his lamentations. http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/34a/049.html www.nairaland.com/2693632/between-ijaws-rivers-minorities-ken Our salvation was when these folks were dumped into Bayelsa state. We give thanks to Abacha, Ebitu Ukiwe, Zik and Obi Wali who was hacked to death in the cause of our liberation. The Ikwerres can testify this. |
Macelliot:Be wise! Not everyone that speaks ill against you are Yorubas. Use your tongue to count your teeth. The dude is Ijaw. |
Sorry OP for the image making. The deed has already been done. Islam remains a mistake to creation. |
