PoliticsRe: Atiku Invites US To Partake In Our Elections by Easyy(m): 5:20pm On Jan 24, 2007
Perhaps some of us do not realise that the US has been involved in the past few elections held in Nigeria directly or indirectly.

What exactly has happened in these elections?

What part does the US have to play in Nigerian politics other than an advisory role?

@Eassy

Those instances of Western exploitation are far too few and insignificant to be hyperventillating about.

Westerners are not milking us as u suggest.Using Nigeria as a case study, can u explain to me how Westerners are milking Nigeria
The main source of revenue in Nigeria is oil.

Tell me what's been happening with Nigerian oil and the politics thereof. Do you know what Shell is doing in the oil rich regions of Nigeria?
FamilyRe: How Do You Deal With Insultive Kids by Easyy(m): 2:08pm On Jan 24, 2007
To everything in life, there is a time and season. There is a time to speak to your child and there is a time, when necessary, to smack your child.

Proverbs 22: 15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him

The posts on this thread illustrate one thing,we as Africans love to engage in an orgy of self pity.We are at our best
chronicling instances of exploitation by our favorite villain, the West. This makes us lighten the sense of failure we feel when we look around our undeveloped continent.
Highlighting where foreign interests are harmful to national interests is not self pity
PoliticsRe: Western Business Interests In Africa by Easyy(op): 1:57pm On Jan 24, 2007
Are you side tracking the point here?

There is no disputing the fact that we should look inward at ourselevs and see that we really have problems within us and need to change for the better.

However, to try and state that these westerners milking us are not drawing us back is to be ignorantly or intentionally drawing us away from a wholesome solution and focussing only a part solution to our problems.
Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome: Interview/Comments by Easyy(m): 1:53pm On Jan 24, 2007
I must confess this man has had a great, not positive, impact on my christian life in recent years.

In my university days at Unilag, I adored this man's ministry (Love World Fellowship) and our own fellowship shared a lot of fellowship with his own fellowship. I was greatly blessed by his teachings and I considered him a very good teacher, probably second only to Rev. Chris Okotie.

However, in recent years, he has delved into a place which is very fertile in terms of drawing Nigerians, who incidentally are always seeking miracles to our myriad of problems rather than taking steps of faith and doing things about the problems.

I have always said that faith is a great thing but faith is only great when that faith is in God, not human activity or actions. I am yet to meet anyone who has recieved a miracle from any such gathering, neither have I ever met anyone who knows someone who recieved such miracles. Against the background of what doctors say about some of the recipients of such miracles, I am inclined to disbelief these miracles.

I must add that I watched one such miracle thing on TV a couple of years ago and a man born blind had just recieved his sight. He knew the colour of the pastor's tie. To me, the miracle in that is the fact that the man had recieved such knowledge of colours within a few minutes.

I still like listening to his teaching though. It can still be refreshing
RomanceRe: How On Earth Can Someone Be A Bi-sexual? by Easyy(m): 1:42pm On Jan 24, 2007
I write this as a Christian and the word of God is clear on it.

God did not create bisexualism. God is not the author of confusion.

I believe people become bisexual because of the excessive freedom which makes them over-exploratory which makes them try out anything and, if your mindset is not properly conditioned, you can end up in the wrong places doing and believing the wrong things.
FamilyRe: Should Wives Submit To Their Husbands? by Easyy(m): 1:36pm On Jan 24, 2007
I hope people are not equating being submissive with being stupid and being a slave.

As a Christian, I never argue with the word of God and it commands me to love my wife and also commands my wife to be submissive.

Someone stated that there can't be 2 captains on a ship and I wholeheartedly agree.

It is not a master-slave relationship but the buck stops at the man's table when God is dealing with the family as a unit. There is as much responsibility on the woman to be submissive as there is on the man to love her.

I have not voted because there is something sinister about the poll being double-edged; as in submit and obey.

The word of God commands us to obey God, it's different from obeying your husband if he wants to contradict the word of God. God is the One to whom unbridled obedience is due.

I attribute such phenomenon to inferiority complex.
You know, the complex issue that Oyibo language is superior to our mother's tongue, and as such, should be reverred over our local dialect. I say it is a shame.
You're spot on there.

It's not just with language but with many other things in our lives.

As the mountains round Jerusalem
So the Lord is round His people
My heart will never fear in times of war
My heart is fixed, it'll never fail. No way

Jehovah Shamah, the Lord is here
Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord my righteousness
Jehovah Rapha, the Lord my Healer
Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord the man of war

I will lift my eyes unto the Lord
Deliverer of all His people
Lover of my soul, I'll always trust in You
My heart is fixed, it'll never fail. No way

Jehovah Shamah, the Lord is here
Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord my righteousness
Jehovah Rapha, the Lord my Healer
Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord the man of war

Guys, you just never know.

Currently, Americans are desperate and very scared. Believe me, if a black man will ever be an American president at-all, this is the time. These folks are open to changes.
Just where did you get that impression from?

Look well beyond newspaper headlines please.

I'm still reading things to try and understand BigB1's fascination with IBB.

I still consider IBB as the worst thing to have happened to Nigeria and Nigerians.

FamilyRe: Can You Marry A Former Prostitute? by Easyy(m): 5:56pm On Jan 23, 2007
A prostitute is I believe, one who sells sex for material gain as a profession; not just every girl who's had more than one partner.

My dear memebrs and guest of this lovely forum.
This is I nice topic raised by our fellow, I don't think one should start critisizing any body or Pastors here.

Yes miracle still happen today, both the one you see on TV are not planned work but they are real.

Please stop judging your fellow man.
Does the word of God not tell us to judge every spirit?

Miracles do happen today as someone stated earlier, I have breathe and that's a miracle but I'd like to know/meet someone who knows anyone who has actually recieved his sight from such places.

There are quite a lot who have been known not to have recieved anything despite having claimed to have recieved miracles in meetings. They don't come back in public to say that they were wrong
FamilyRe: Is Marriage Not Boring? by Easyy(m): 4:49pm On Jan 20, 2007
There's nothing in life that's always just a bed of roses.

There are challenges in every sphere of life and it's up to the individuals to go through the challenges or let the challenges go through them.

Let's not use story lines written by writers as the guide for any marriage, neither should anyone try to use movie scripts cos they are very unrealistic. They only exist in the imagination of whoever wrote them.

FamilyRe: Child Abandonment By Callous Fathers, How Come? by Easyy(m): 4:45pm On Jan 20, 2007
I realise there is a growing number of, mostly foreign based, Nigerian ladies who do not like to hear that a man would not want to marry certain kinds of women. I have always believed, and still do so, the reason is because they realise it affects them in a personal way.

Christianity EtcRe: Benny Hinn was in Nigeria! Redemption Camp, April 29-30 by Easyy(m): 12:32pm On Jan 19, 2007
Enigma:
These kind of junkets may have some use for some people but I consider them a waste of time and an avenue for people like Hinn to pump up their ego and sometimes to make money.

One miracle at this particular Hinn thing in Nigeria was useless as the chap concerned died about a week after the crusade unfortunately!

Christians/people will do better approaching God straight, personally/privately or pray ith a group of true loving friends instead of running after these "miracle" peddlars.
I do share your feelings to a large extent.

Benny Hinn also expected a lot of people so he could (it seems) recoup his investment and he was disappointed. Is this really the right way to God?
Is God not the same God of the blind and the lame?
What happened to seeking the kingdom and it righteousness and other things will follow?
Will healing and properity not follow if we seek God's kingdon first?
Is God just about properity?
Does anybody follow up on those who give 'testimonies' in these gatherings to ascertain the truth and extent of their 'miracles'?

I am a born again christian and I follow the TRUTH of the word of God. I dont chase after miracles in every revival.
FamilyRe: Which Schools Are Best - Nigerian Schooling Or Uk Schooling ? by Easyy(m): 3:03pm On Jan 18, 2007
my first son completed his primary education in Nigeria before coming here and the same will apply to my second child. I believe that's the best for my kids because of the cultural and social practices in the UK which I dont particularly subscribe to.

So you honestly believe you are grown up .

There are several differences and many of them have been outlined here by some other posters so if you chose to ignore them, why should I repeat them?

@easy in Africa (the most endemic place for HIV) women have little or no sexual rights, so the men decide who they sleep with and when. so in a manner of speaking YES!! Men are by far the largest cause of the spread of HIV.
The largest cause; NOT the reason HIV will not go away
