DrBESTJC: Volume of the hydrometer when floating in water,V1 = Volume of the weighted bulb + Volume of the cylindrical stem..... Volume of the wighted bulb = 30cm^3. Volume of the cylindrical stem = §(pie) * r^2(radius squared) * L1. .: V1 = 30cm^3 + §r^2h1. But Cross-sectional area of the cylinder = §r^2 = 1cm^2 (given in the question). Length of the stem immersed when the hydrometer is floating in water,L1 = 3cm. .: volume of the hydrometer when floating in water,V1 = 30cm^3 + (1cm^2 * 3cm) = 30cm^3 + 3cm^3 = 33cm^3.
Secondly,
Volume of the hydrometer when floating in the Liquid,V2 = Volume of the weighted bulb + volume of the cylindrical stem.... Volume of the weighted bulb = 30cm^3 ........... and Volume of the cylindrical stem = §(pie) * r^2(r squared) * L2 .: V2 = 30cm^3 + §r^2L2. But, cross-sectional area of the cylinder = §r^2 = 1cm^2.... Thanks a lot sir...it's very explicit. |

Density of water x height in water = Density of liquid x height in liquid..
Where density of water is 1gcm^3 Height in water is 3cm Density of liquid is 0.89gcm^3 Height in liquid is unknown
3 x 1 = 0.89 x h
3 = 0.89h
3/0.89 = h
h =3.37cm Thanks. This was what I got also but the answer the textbook got was 7.1cm. |

We also permanent dipole which is a polar bond.......we av two type of covalent bond...... Ordinary covalent and dative or coordinate covalent bond... Yeah, it's been a while bro. What I am actually trying to say is that ordinary covalent bond can be grouped into polar and non-polar. |
Education › Re: UI 2018/2019 Admission Thread by Eben331: 3:11pm On Jul 10, 2018 |
@Damayogenius, Covalent bond is an interatomic bond that is formed when there is an equal sharing of electron(s) between the participant atoms. We have two types of covalent bond; they are polar and non-polar covalent bonds while hydrogen bond on the other hand, is the intermolecular bond between hydrogen and highly electronegative elements( ie oxygen, fluorine and nitrogen). |

Calculate the velocity of the wave represented by the following wave equation y =20sin(60(pie)x - 0.5(pie)x) , if all the distances are in metres.
I think there is a mistake in the equation or perhaps I don't understand the question. There is supposed not to be two xs in the equation, but there can be t and x in the equation. Using y=Asin[2(pie)ft-2(pie)x/lamda] You will then equate this equation with the one you were given in the question. Check the question again. |

DrBESTJC: Please Maths gurus here: How can you solve for the squareroot of 2 or 13 or 2225 without calculator? Method 1-Using this format: _/x=_/y+(x-y)/2_/y where x=number whose squareroot is to be determined, y=perfect square close to x. This is only correct to 2 dp. It is just an approximate method of finding square root of numbers. Method 2- Using this format: _/x=(x/y+y)/2 where x=the number whose square root is determined, y=the number which when squared give a perfect square close to x i.e y^2 is close to x. This method is accurate but the procedures have to be repeated at least three times. For example, to find the square root of 2: x=2, y=1(since 1^2 is a perfect square close to 2): _/2=(2/1+1)/2=1.5 Repeat the procedure again but ur new y will be 1.5: (2/1.5+1.5)/2=1.42. Repeat the method the third time: (2/1.42+1.42)/2=1.4142. You can continue repeating this procedure like this... It is just that this method is cumbersome. |
