PoliticsFFK:Don't Just Call For The End Of SARS, Also Call For The Resignation Of Buhari by EBMedia(op):
Don't Just Call For The End Of SARS, Also Call For The Resignation Of Buhari And His Cabinet- FFK Urges Protesters

Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, has asked protesting Nigerians not to only call for the end of SARS but also extend their demands to the resignation of President Buhari and his entire cabinet.

IgbereTV reports that the former Minister made the call via his Twitter handle this evening, October 12.

His tweets read:

''The #EndSARS protests represent a watershed in the history of demonstrations in Nigeria. For the first time in the last 60 years the people have recognised the fact that they can effect change and bring Govt. to its knees by taking to the streets in peaceful protest.

I commend the courage of those that came out into the streets & spoke out in the traditional & social media & I urge them to not just call for the ending of SARS but also for the resignation of Buhari.

A President that has no value for human life and under whose watch more innocent Nigerians have been brutally murdered than at any other time in our history outside of the civil war has lost his legitimacy and has no right to remain in power.

#Endsars and #EndPoliceBrutality is just the beginning. #EndBuhari's rule and the resignation of Buhari & his entire Govt. must be the final destination.

Many have been killed during this #Endsars demonstrations & they are still being killed. Their blood must not be allowed to have been shed in vain. Every drop of their blood must count for something and must act as a catalyst to a total change & overhaul of the entire system & a new beginning.

It must lead to the end of Buhari's sheer wickedness & impunity & it must usher in a new Nigeria where mass murder, ethnic cleansing, genocide, police brutality, tribal & religious divisions corruption, nepotism & impunity are things of the past.

Take it or leave it, this may well be the beginning of our own Arab spring . And if it does not happen now it will surely happen later because the seeds of change & a peaceful and spiritual revolution have been planted.''

CrimePolice Arrest Woman Who Sold Her Newborn Grandson For N1.3M; Baby Rescued (Pix) by EBMedia(op): 4:07pm On Oct 09, 2020
Police Arrest Woman Who Sold Her Newborn Grandson For N1.3M; Baby Rescued (Photos)

IgbereTV reports that the Rivers State Police Command has arrested a woman, Antonia Amos, who allegedly sold her grandson at birth for the sum of one million, three hundred thousand naira (N1.3M) and rescued the baby.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) Joseph Mukan disclosed this on Thursday, October 8, while releasing the now two-week old baby to her parents at the State Command’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt where the three suspects were also paraded.

Mukan stated that detectives of the Trans-Amadi Police Station began an investigation into the case of Child Trafficking, reported 25 September 2020 by one Christian Duru, father of the baby.

He said Duru’s wife, Anthonia Joseph, gave birth to the baby and his mother-in-law sold baby at the cost of one million, three hundred thousand naira (N 1.3M)

“In the course of investigation, the mother-in-law was arrested and on interrogation, led the Detectives to Ukanafun LGA in Akwa-Ibom State where one Pauline Umoh ‘f’ was arrested. She later led the Police to Mgbidi in Imo State where the buyer, Juliana Obianwa ‘f’ was arrested and the baby recovered," the CP said.

“The baby boy has been released to the mother while the suspects are in our custody helping in the investigation and efforts intensified to arrest the remnants of the syndicate.” he added.

The child’s mother, Anthonia Joseph explained that her mother (the baby’s grandmother) insisted on selling her son to a buyer in Imo State on the grounds that her husband had yet to fulfil his marital obligations.

Joseph disclosed that her mother took her to Imo State where she was delivered of the baby, adding that she connived with the midwives and nurses to sell the baby and threatened her not to tell anyone.

“I asked her why ? She said my husband had yet to pay the marital obligations, that if I don ’t accept it she was going to strangle me and the baby. The buyer came by 5 am, they took the baby and she (the alleged buyer) collected the baby and crossed to the other side of the road. I asked my mother why she did that; she said if I expose her that she was going to kill me," she stated.

On how the baby was rescued, Anthonia's husband Christian Duru, said the grandmother had lied to him on the telephone that his son was dead but that he suspected foul play when his wife did not speak in the presence of her mother.

"She was crying that she cannot say anything that she will call me later. Later my wife called me saying that her mother sold our baby boy. Today (Wednesday), the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of Trans Amadi Police Station called and told me that they have recovered the baby alive." he said.

Speaking to journalists while being paraded, the grandmother said she did it because she was angry that the father of the baby did not pay any bride price on her daughter's head before putting her in a family way.

She also alleged the baby's father provided only N1000 for the hospital bills when her daughter was in labour.

She also said she was only trying to hide the news of the pregnancy from her family and father of the girl who would have blamed her for not bringing up their daughter properly, hence she was pushed into selling the baby to any one who would love and care for him.

She claimed that she received only N500, 000 for the baby out of which she gave the nurse, Pauline Umoh N100,000 for the treatment and she intended to give her daughter N50,000 to take care of herself.

The other suspect, Juliet Obianwa told reporters that she was told that the baby is from an Orphanage home and she was asked to pay One million naira to regularize the adoption processes, adding that she had been looking for a baby boy to adopt.

CP Joseph Mukan said efforts are on to arrest others involved in the crime.

Former BBNaija Housemates Are Begging for N100k Jobs And Sleeping Around To Maintain The Lifestyle - Harri Obi

Media personality, Harri Obi has alleged that former BBNaija housemates are begging for N100k jobs and sleeping around to maintain their celebrity status, IgbereTV reports.

Harri Obi took to his Twitter handle to state that BBNaija celebrity status is too fickle and exerts unnecessary pressure on someone who might have trekked to the audition venue.

He further affirmed that when the reality show ends, the housemates are always in a silent competition to outdo each other.

He tweeted:

"The BBN celebrity status is too fickle and exerts unnecessary pressure on someone who only 90 days back trekked to the audition venue. I’ve heard of former HMs that are in the DMs of every brand begging for N100k jobs, and others that sleep around to maintain the lifestyle."
"You’re an ordinary person, you get on the show for 90 days & all of a sudden people expect you to be flying private jets, driving Tesla, dinning at Sheraton & rocking Gucci. It’s why when people tell me to go for BBN, I just laugh. Societal expectations are killing your faves."
"I once overheard a mentor, the ceo of a big PR Agency in Nigeria, say the biggest mistake you’d ever make as a young person is letting yourself get drawn into the Nigerian celebrity vortex. It will chew and spit you out before you know what’s going on."
"As soon as HMs leave the house, there is a silent but loud competition to outdo each other; who’s getting the biggest endorsements? Who’s driving the best cars? Who’s traveling the most? Etc. No one is sitting down and planning their next move. It’s all noise and PR."
"A former HM from last season said she was broke and abandoned, Anto said something about being under pressure, Ahneeka wants fans to stop telling her how to live her life and Lucy shared the same sentiments days back. Nobody is teaching these younglings how to be celebrities."
"Or should we talk about the intense withdrawal symptoms, how the validity of your fame only lasts 365 days and as soon as the next set of new HMs are announced, your depression skyrockets. I wish these new guys goodluck. They don’t understand the world they’ve been thrown into."
