PoliticsTackling The Root Cause... Gov Ikpeazu's Approach by Chinonye Mba (Photos) by EBMedia(op): 10:14am On Jul 06, 2020
Those who are familiar with Aba will know the story of Aba/Owerri road expecially the railway area and the ASPOLY axis.

Before Gov Ikpeazu put the problem of the railway crossing area of Aba to rest, many of us can vividly remember how people spent hours trying to navigate through the rail just because of how bad and dangerous the area was. There use to be hold-ups that will stretch down to Bata and across. If you manage to get to the rail crossing itself, you still run the risk of having your tires blown up because of how bad and dangerous that spot was. But we all seem to have forgotten these.

Previous administrations made several attempts to address that challenge, but all of their efforts amounted to nothing simply because they were treating the symptoms rather than the root cause of the problem.

When Gov Ikpeazu came, he took time to understudy the challenges, identified it and tackled it head-on.

He realized that no matter what you do there and how much you spent that the problem will persist without building a good drainage system that will take water away from that area down to waterside.

Gov Ikpeazu did just that. Today most of us Cross these area seemlesly without remembering how it was before now.
Well that is one of the things expected from a good leader.

We have a similar situation around ASPOLY area of Aba. Any original Nwa-Aba will know that the only drainage system we have along that area of Aba was built by Nnayi Mbakwe way back in 1982 or thereabout. And these underground drainage systems have all outlived their usefulness and are all blocked. All efforts to have it cleared failed because of it's design. Today, as can be seen in the pictures above, Gov Ikpeazu is doing the NEEDFUL.

Profering a lasting solution to the problem. Those underground drainage system are being removed and new and modern drainage system are being built. Few days ago the CPS to Gov Ikpeazu Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka updated us with the level of work being done with a live video chat. Up there are the pictures of what is currently being done. The idea is to Chanel the water to Aba waterside. Note that the other side of the drainage system have been completed by Gov Ikpeazu administration as well.

Soon the job will be completed and we will all heave a sigh of relief.

We will continue to enjoy the benefit of what Gov Ikpeazu is doing right now long after he must have left the stage.

That's why we have the saying that, "what is whoth doing is worth doing well".

Yes, Gov Ikpeazu has not done all, but surely he is doing more and he is building to last not just for Accolades and Applause.

CrimeSee The Chicago Jail Where Hushpuppi Is Being Held (Photos) by EBMedia(op):
Alleged Nigerian fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Huspuppi is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, IgbereTV has learnt.

Hushpuppi who was nabbed in Dubai in June, and extradited to the United States of America, appeared in court last Friday.

Hushpuppi arrived in Chicago Thursday evening after being expelled from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Abbas made his initial U.S. court appearance on Friday morning in Chicago, and he is expected to be transferred to Los Angeles in the coming weeks.

He was charged with running a global fraud operation, including targeting a Premier League football club, a bank and a US law firm.

Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, 37, who claims to run a real estate business, is alleged to have conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars through business email compromise (BEC) frauds and other scams, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) said.

He is also accused of laundering $14.7m stolen in a cyber-heist from an unnamed bank in February 2019, sending the money to bank accounts around the world.

A months-long investigation by the FBI led to his arrest last month by authorities in the United Arab Emirates, where Abbas was a resident.

FBI special agents obtained custody of Abbas and took him to Chicago.

Hushpuppi is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago, the Federal Bureau of Prisons website says. He will be transferred to Los Angeles in the coming weeks, according to the Justice Department.

If convicted of money laundering, he would face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Ortom Says He Will Undergo Another COVID-19 Test After His Chief Of Staff And SSG Tested Positive

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, has revealed that he will undergo a fresh COVID-19 test in three days, IgbereTV reports.

Ortom said doctors have advised him to undergo another test because Tony Ijohor, secretary to the state government, and Terwase Orbunde, his chief of staff have contracted the disease.

IgbereTV had reported that Eunice, his wife, and one of the governor’s sons tested positive for the disease on Friday.

The governor had sent his sample for test and the result came back negative but briefing reporters in Makurdi, the state capital, on Saturday, Ortom said doctors have advised him to undergo another test.

The governor added that Veronica Onyeke, head of service in the state, and Godwin Achinge, deputy vice chancellor (administration), Benue State University, Makurdi, have also been infected.

“It is no longer news that my wife, one of my sons and staff tested positive to the virus too. The test was carried out about a week ago. When the result came out 35 persons in the state tested positive to the virus,” he said.

“My test result came out negative. But the medical officers said that another test will be carried out on me after three days.

“So, after this interaction I will isolate myself. I will be in isolation until I have clearance from the medical officers.

“COVID-19 is real and I enjoin my people to take the preventive measures seriously. I want my people to be alive and free from the disease.

“We have to stop the spread of the disease by maintaining all the COVID-19 protocols,” he said.

The governor also urged Benue people to avail themselves for testing, saying that the earlier the disease is detected the better.

“Even if one who tests positive to the disease has underlining ailments and the virus is detected early enough it will not kill the person,” he said.

“I want to repeat what my wife said in her statement that COVID-19 is not a death sentence. A lot of persons that tested positive have been treated and discharged.”

Today I encourage us all to take heart and stand together in these trying times. Let us accept this news as God’s will. Let us console ourselves believing that Emy is now resting in the bossom of the Almighty.

Here are a few things about Chiemerie Dim:

1. Emerie graduated with a law degree from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in 2019.

According to TMS Media reports, some armed men invaded the Nigerian high commission in Accra, Ghana, on Friday, destroying some apartments which were being constructed to house staff and visitors.

A Ghanaian businessman had claimed that the commission encroached on his land. He presented evidence that he is the real owner of the land, when he visited the place last week. He subsequently returned to the site on Friday in the company of armed men who supervised the demolition.

Officials of the commission were said to have contacted the police but the demolition still went on.
