Sagamite: Saga, Me like your jobn, lets swap places.I am really trying to get into the investment banking obut it is proving so difficult. Some of my friends have been lucky enough to get similar roles in Barclays and Morgan Stanley but it is well sha , holla if you need more info I might be able to help, although you sound to me like you already know what you are doing. The job is quite straight forward it is meeting up with the individuals gathering and collating their progress report and from the report I gather I can then deduce if the project is heading in the right direction, i dey talk too much wo laters, I meant to be working. |

Jokes Etc / A Damn Fine Explanation by Ebonyj(f): 2:19pm On Jul 31, 2008 |
A colleague sent this to me and I thought it would be nice to share it, The wife came home from work early and found her husband in theirBedroom making love to a very attractive young woman. Understandably, she was somewhat upset. 'You are a disrespectful pig!' She cried. 'How dare you do this to me, A faithful wife, the mother of your children! I'm leaving you. I want a divorce straight away!' Her husband replied, 'Hang on just a minute luv, I can explain what happened. ' You can try', she sobbed, 'but they'll be the last words you'll say to me!' And the husband began - 'Well, I was getting into the car to drive home And this young lady here asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out. And defenseless; that I took pity on her and let her into the car. I noticed that she was very thin, not well dressed and very dirty. She told me that she hadn't eaten for three days! So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up the soup I made for you last night, The soup that you wouldn't eat because you're afraid you'll put on weight. The poor thing devoured three bowls in moments. Since she needed a good clean-up I suggested a shower, and while she was doing that I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes so I threw them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the designer jeans that you have had for a few years, but don't use because you say they are too tight. I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary present, which you don't use because I don't have good taste. I found the sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don't use just to annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive boutique and don't use because someone at work has the same pair, ' Then he took a quick breath and pressed on - 'She was so grateful for my understanding and help and as I walked her to the door she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said, 'Please , Do you have anything else that your wife doesn't use?' |

@Sagamite Sagamite (m) London, UK Posts: 270 Offline Re: Can You Describe Your Job? « #187 on: July 27, 2008, 04:16 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: Ebonyj on July 25, 2008, 01:44 PM Performance Manager- Montoring performance of projects being carried out within some of the departments e.g HR, Procurement, E & I etc Is this in the public or private sector? Is it by setting the metrics (financial, process & systems, customer etc) for strategic goals or is it for specific processes of the departments? It is within the public sector and (in plain English)it is to monitor how projects that have been approved are performing i.e is the PM sticking to the scope and bugget? Is it still a viable project? Is the PM following the methodology set out by the business? The job title is not right for the role I would describe it more as a project cooordination role, although I am sort of my own boss and report directly to the programme director(I have never seen her before just emails) but I make decisions based on the performance of the project using my initiatives ,I only escalate issues when there is going to be a major change to the scope of the project which could lead to a crisis for the company. But I guess it is not given that title because I don't support project managers but I support the business they are carrying out the projects for. Also I am part of the committee that approve the project budgeti.e if it is under £100k se you get me Anyway why do you ask? What do you do? |

Family / Re: Why Marriages Don’t Work: The Change Factor by Ebonyj(f): 12:14pm On Jul 30, 2008 |
@Poster-Thank you for this thread. @Jyde Walker -your story made me cry. @Arielle and others having marital problems: I am sorry to hear what you are going through in your marriage Arielle and I sympathise with you because I can relate to how you are feeling. If not for the grace of God my 3 year marriage would have broken now even though we had dated for 8 years before we got married in 2005. I guess the person who said the first 10 years of a marriage are the most challenging knew what they were talking about. To be honest with you I don't have any proper advice for you but I will tell you what I have been doing and you can try it and I hope it works for you! First thing I did was to email my husband because I found that if I tried talking to him I got angry and could not speak my mind, so I wrote him a long letter of how I was feeling and how things used to be and how things will be if we don't do anything about it.I also spoke to his closest brother and my dad because I just wanted to have a clearer indication as to how men think and how they handle things and they both gave me very solid advice-PRAY FOR YOUR HUSBAND, DO NOT GET TIRED,TELL HIM HOW YOU ARE FEELING, DONT NAG, DONT FIGHT, BE VERY PATIENT IT WILL TAKE TIME BUT HE CAN DEFINITELY MAKE AMENDMENTS THAT WILL ENABLE THE TWO OF YOU TO LEAVE IN TOTAL LOVE AND HARMONY! My husband has since being trying, there are still things that he is doing that i don't like but I have come to either ignore them and deal with them, it is almost impossible for a person to change instead of trying to change your partner why not make some changes yourself! If your partner is at all human and if love exists when they see the effort you are putting in to make things work they will make an effort too. Please pray to your God, I am a christian I don't know if you are but pray to whoever or whatever you regard to be your God and have faith that things will get better! I pray the Lord gives us all the wisdom , knowledge anf understanding to be able to live with our partners, love them unconditionally, support them in eveyrway we can and overlook their mistakes(they are not perfect). Good luck all! |

Religion / Re: Does The Bible Forbids Taking Of Alcoholic Drinks Or Strong Wine? by Ebonyj(f): 3:12pm On Jul 25, 2008 |
There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol if it is done in moderation. It is when you now drink yourself to a stupor that you dont know your left from your right, this is where there is a problem. Anyway in saying that , we should all remember that too much of anything is not good, be it alcolhol, food etc. |

Education / Re: Unilag vs OAU-Ife vs UI? by Ebonyj(f): 10:57am On Jul 24, 2008 |
I went to one of the SU, unis in Naija. If I had to choose again I would most definitely go for OAU . I think UI is equally as good too the only reason why I would not choose UI is because I grew up in Ibadan. UNILAG is out of the question, too many distractions I won't be able to focus on my studies. |

Kids, Can't live with them can't live without them. I have a very energetic 2 year old boy when I am at work I miss him like crazy the minute I walk into the house, I start screaming at him like a possessed woman. The other day I was in the bathroom getting ready to go out with him when I came out he was covered in Vaseline from head to toe and there was olive oil all over the room he had made such a mess of the whole room we ende up staying at home as it took me about an hour to clear the mess. Then there was a time I was looking fo my phone for like 2 days I could not find it, for some reason I just thought I forget to throw out the water I had used to mop 2 days ago and when I threw the water down the toilet I heard a "thump" lo and behold my phone, I was so upset because it had a lot of videos of him from day 1, first time he smiled etc which i was planing to download unto my laptop but its all too late now in it. Kids of today are so intelligent, whenever I am shouting he puts his finger to his lips and says "Mummee shoosh". I just laugh and think if na for my time you do this wo toddler or no toddler you go get smacked. lol |

Touareg V8: Touareg, You are asking me to state the obvious, why does anybody do business? Is it not because we want to make money in order to leave behind something for our offsprings, help the needy , improve the economy and enjoy life as a whole. A very good Nairalander has already helped me out but I would appreciate more information if you have any. |

Romance / Re: Is It Normal For Nigerian Men To Call Their Girlfriends "Mom"? by Ebonyj(f): 3:28pm On Jun 16, 2008 |
The only time my hubby calls me "Mum" is when he is being sarcastic. In answering your question though, I dont see anything wrong in a man referring to his wife/girlfriend. |
