Shut down the official I & Ẹ window they won't hear... The naira is not floating freely if there is still an official window, ppl will take advantage of it and the Naira will fall further. Now we don't have foreign reserve to block the fall, now our CBN first time in history is falling to meet it's obligation, if you know what this means in economics terms, abeg if you get money to buy good for 6months and keep non perishable foods Pls do. If they don't manage the issue well.. We will definitely be another Greece, Zimbabwe or Argentina.
Scrap the official rate let everyone buy and sell at the autonomous /parallel /aboki rate.. That's the only way we can reset the economy. No other magic under the sum can help us now.. Emeifile really messed things up I swear.

Nelsolala:
Bro, anyone that is passionate about the state has every right to be angry with the pace and scope of development. We need wider roads, although like we always disagree, not all roads can be dualized lol.

I was really disappointed with what was done at club road, cause the ample space due to the transmission line there, presented a good opportunity for them to deliver a master piece. Something in the mould of the Kigali city center. Alas they just reconstructed the narrow 7.3m road. Very unfortunate.

I watched an interview by the commissioner of works and he said that before the end of their first tenure, Awka-Agulu-Ekwulobia-Idato boundary will be a dual carriage boulevard. So its likely they'll award it soon, and hopefully to a good contractor.

So let's be a little patient with them. They may finish strong, although the Dubai-Tiwan won't happen.
Your words are soothing frayed nerves.........sometimes it is quite easy to get annoyed at our governors but only Providence knows what they are going through in terms of paucity of funds....I do not think Obiano left much for Soludo to work with........nevertheless he campaigned for the job,so he get to deliver!

One thing that really endearsme to Obi ,is his love for education.........and he really delivered in that aspect, we have been pushing for infrastructural projects.......what about human capital development..? Now that our Politicians have finally bankrupted Nigeria ( 1000 naira/1 dollar) , how do we train our youth to survive in the truly scary socio-economic conditions we are in now?

Anambra state government must be very intentional on how they craft educational policies........I live in the american mid west and I know for a fact that there are major labour and staffing shortages in critical areas of the American labour market...........other nations are tapping into that shortages, I read somewhere that Indian medical professionals certifications are now recognised in the US, Chicago in illinois also went as far as Phillipines to recruit over 5000 elementary and high school teachers..........that is Phillipines with their half baked English! What about Airline pilots............the shortages are in tens of thousands, remote IT work kwanu?

Human capital trumps crude oil and gold resources several times over! Setting up advanced IT institutes with NIIT or other serious companies, how about setting up a flight school with Airpaeace and United Nigeria? There are hundreds of small colleges in the US our universities can affliate with and pursue updated medical professional certifications........I dunno but God will help Soludo and our youth.........

How do you say peace be upon you in Hebrew, the way Yeshua (Jesus) said it in John 20:21?
Shalom Aleichem.
How do you say peace be upon you in Arabic?
Salam alaykum.
What is the difference? Virtually nothing. And then when a Muslim greets you as-salamu alaykum, you reject it or get upset, or behave as if he has cursed you? Arabic and Hebrew are closer to each other, being Semitic, than the English you speak is closer to your own precolonial language. If an Arab speaks Arabic, a Hebrew can pick it, and vice versa. Whether in Hebrew, Arabic, or English, all we want is peace! Amin!

grandstar:
Taxation is important but you're exaggerating things here. The present government has plans to prune the number of taxes present in the country from 52 to 10. So, I

In today's world, you don't go far without globalization. The reason why the Naira is tumbling is due to a lack of dollars.

Foreign investment is a must considering that cost of credit (loans) is quite dear and even scarce. Soludo said that foreign investment amounting to 5% of GDP yearly for 5 years consecutively would lead to the economy overheating.

It is absolutely needed for him to drum up investment into the country. That doesn't mean he is ignoring the troubles at home. The "removal" of the fuel subsidy and attempt to unify rates are far reaching actions to indicate he isn't ignoring the local economy.

For instance, NDDC is planning to build 9 industrial estates in the states it covers.

Also, Buhari chased away many foreign investors from the country, Shoprite being the foremost example. These foreign multinationals contribute massively to the economy.

The challenges on ground are huge. Lamido Sanusi alleged that the CBN under Emefiele printed 22 trillion Naira. This alone is scary.

Tinubu does not have to run everything. That is why he has an economic team.
Tinubu's economic team is too top heavy with his Lagos and yoruba crowd, he should widen it slightly......nobody knows it all, no tribe knows it all!

- Focusing on taxation without any clear plan to boost the productive capacities of existing businesses as well as create enabling environment for new businesses to create jobs is antithesis of economic growth. No economy grows on taxation alone.

- Leave the pursuit of FDIs for now. Come home and rebuild the building blocks of the economy.

- Quit wooing UAE like a beautiful bride. Come home and focus on wooing local investors to invest in sundry areas of the economy.

- Forget the beautiful speech at UNGA. Come home and give beautiful economic roadmap.

- Forget ringing bell at NASDAQ stock market. Come home to ring the bell of local industries and SMEs by carefully packed incentives and ease of doing business initiatives.

- Run back back home and roll out your all-encompassing economic plan to revitalize the economy as contained in your manifesto.

- There is fire on mountain at home. Run home and quench it, my president.

PoliticsRe: Exchange Rate Crashes To N985/$1 As Forex Traders Say There Is No Dollar To Sell by ebufa: 7:41pm On Sep 21, 2023
stewiepeter:
The exchange rate between the naira and the dollar plunged to a record low N983/$1 at the black market based on quotes received by Nairametrics on Wednesday as currency traders said there no dollar to sell

This represents a 2.93% drop when compared with the N955/$1 that it traded the previous day as the foreign exchange crisis in the country continues unabated.

This also shows a substantial depreciation from the N950/$1 that it traded last week as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) appears to be still struggling to stabilize the foreign exchange market despite its various policy pronouncements.

Recall that in mid-August, the dollar was quoted as low as N955/$1, stoking fears among investors that the exchange rate might plummet to N1000/$1. This, however, appreciated at some point to N840/$1 after the apex bank warned speculators about potential major losses due to the policies it hopes to introduce.

In related news, trading on the official I&E window on September 20 witnessed the exchange rate between the naira and the dollar settling at N776.60/$1, a drop from N773.98/$1 the previous day. The intra-day high soared to N799.9/$1, whereas the intra-day low dipped to N720/$1.

Data from FMDQ Securities Exchange, a platform that oversees official FX trading in Nigeria, shows that a total of $71.01 million was traded at the I & E window, Nigeria’s official trading window.

Currency tracking platform AbokiFX also captured the exchange rate trades at N980/$1 on Wednesday.

We are out of business

A top official of the Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) who did not want to be mentioned said that the forex market is currently in disarray as most of the licensed operators do not have dollars to sell and as such out of business.

He said, ‘’The market has scattered, the rate is N983/$1. Most of the licensed bureau de change operators do not even have dollars to sell, we are out of business. I think the liquidity is in the so-called parallel market. Its all about scarcity and when there is scarcity, it gives rise to parallel or black market.’’
He said that if there is dollar available to sell or buy, he might not even do the transaction because he does not know what to do, adding that he is confused as a licensed bureau de change operator

Going further he said,

‘’You see this market operates on different level, we have started seeing Binance, we are now seeing Dubai rate, we are now seeing local parallel market rate, so it depends on the level you are.’’
Experts and currency traders have attributed the crisis in the forex market to scarcity of dollars and the surge in demand.

Government attempted intervention

The Tinubu administration had indicated its resolve to tackle the rapid depreciation of the exchange rate, bolstered by the central bank’s commitment to intervene.

In August the acting CBN Governor had warned speculators of losses following plans aimed at stabilizing the naira.

Furthermore, the government publicized that the NNPC had secured a deal to borrow $3.5 billion, funds earmarked to boost supply amidst escalating demand pressures. Such measures buoyed the local currency, hinting that the black market premium over the official I&E Window might shrink to a mere 5%, a scenario welcomed by the market.

Yet, recent insights from JP Morgan revealed that as of December 2022, Nigeria’s central bank possessed net reserves amounting to approximately $3.7 billion and Flitch ratings which indicated that the current external reserves could be lower than expected.

The disclosures rattled analysts, and the exact cause behind the naira’s depreciation remains nebulous.
Buhari and his fulani horde came to power with a massive appetite to steal and loot the wealth of Nigeria.........shay na vacuum cleaner dem take siphon all the dollars in CBN!
BusinessRe: Lekki Mall, 3 Others Up For Sale In Novare’s Surprise Move by ebufa: 7:33pm On Sep 21, 2023
Bestmanfornow:
The property sales market in Nigeria has, in a surprise move by their developer, received four retail facilities located in Lagos and Abuja, the country’s federal capital city.

The four facilities owned by Novare Real Estate Nigeria Limited (NREN), an institutional investor and developer, are the Lekki Mall, Apo Mall Abuja, Novare Central Mall, and Gateway Mall Abuja.

Close market watchers have described this as a surprise from Novare –a commercial property development and management firm with a decade of experience in property development, and management across Nigeria and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Though no official reason has been given by the developer for this move, Estate Intel, an online property research platform which gave this hint, says that the sale of these properties may signify Novare’s exit from Nigeria as they are the only real estate investments the company has in the country.
Its Lekki Mall, earlier named Novare Mall, remains the largest retail mall in Lagos. The mall which was completed in 2016 sits on about 22,000 square metre space along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway. It houses brands such as ShopRite, Genesis Deluxe, JED Lifestyle, Miniso, etc.
The Apo Mall is located in the Dutse area of the FCT and occupies 8,000 square metres. It has a 97 percent occupancy rate as at June 2023 and houses notable brands like Megastores, PEP, BAFFI Furniture, Krispy Kreme, Shoprite, etc.

On its part, the Gateway Mall was completed in 2017 and is located along the airport road in Abuja. It sits on 14,000 square metres and houses firms such as BAFFI Furniture, Funworld, Genesis Deluxe Cinema, EHA Clinics, etc.

The politicians in Abuja must stop politicizing every agitation...........the call for Biafra was in a way a call for restructuring of the federation, the government turned around to massacre them just like they massacred the shias..........we must be wary of the one sided story narrative, this wahala started somewhere and it can be solved.............even the soldiers will prefer to walk the streets of the southeast without this viloence.
