:Don’t set Osun on fire – APC Campaign Council warns PDP

Senator Ajibola Basiru, the Director-General of the Campaign Council for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s Re-election, has called the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) claim that it has won the election, which is still being collated, irresponsible.
Basiru stated in an Osogbo statement on Saturday that the PDP’s claim was capable of setting Osun on fire. As a result, he warned the PDP not to make frivolous and unsubstantiated claims about an election in which voting is still taking place in some areas.

He also urged security agencies to take appropriate action in dealing decisively with the perpetrators of this false claim, as they are setting the stage for violence and chaos.

It has come to our knowledge that the PDP in a statement is already claiming victory for an election whose result is yet to be declared. We are not surprised at their claim because we know their antics.

“Going by the result so far declared, there was no way PDP could lay claim to any victory. This is more so that in one of the Local Governments where the PDP candidate hails voting is still going on as we speak.

Therefore, the PDP’s claim is tantamount to standing logic on its head. We appeal to our supporters and sympathisers in Osun and across the country to remain calm in the face of this obvious provocation.
While we won’t do what the desperate people in the opposition PDP did by usurping the powers of INEC, we are however confident that with the positive results from the field at our disposal, the people’s support for Gov Oyetola will ultimately give him victory when the authority legally empowered to announce election results do so and he is declared Governor-elect,” Basiru added.

ARMED BANDITS ATTACKED DAMARI TOWN, COUNTERED BY ANSARU MEMBERS

15th July, 2022

Armed Bandits numbering about two hundreds on Motorcycles wielding sophisticated weapons targeted and attacked Damari town of Kazage Ward in the Eastern Part of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack took place around 5:00pm on Wednesday 13th July 2022 while Ansaru members were right inside the town preaching to locals.

On hearing the sporadic gunshots from the Bandits the Ansaru members moved towards them and started exchanging fire. They clashed for about an hour. The Ansaru members who were also heavily armed overpowered the bandits which made them to retreat and run away.

During the clash, some damages were made to the town.
1. One shop was burnt.
2. Two vehicles were burnt.
3. One Private Hospital was burnt.
4. Two locals (labourers) were also killed by the armed bandits on their way from farm while the bandits were running away to forest.

The Private hospital was burnt accidentally as a result of the fire spread from the second vehicle burnt nearby.

As a result of this, most of the community members appreciate and hail the Ansaru members for defending the town from the bandits attack without which they believe that the situation could have been more damaging.

Hundreds of persons including women and children migrated from the town as a result of the attack.

The attack was a very organized one because the armed bandits knew that the Ansaru members are covering the town. Hence, it was countered by the Ansaru members.

However, the casualty figure between the armed bandits and the Ansaru members is unascertained.

The Ansaru members continue to preach and administer Shari'a Justice to locals and also advise them to acquire arms to defend themselves against enemies as well as fight Government in order to establish what they refer to as Islamic State.

2023 general elections loot

Chelsea transfer target Nathan Ake has decided to mutually remain at Man City for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign as Todd Boehly did not meet the required transfer valuation in a decision which will affect Presnel Kimpembe, Levi Colwill and others.

Ake had been a top defensive target in Tuchel's £200million squad rebuild, but the £50million quoted by City, who have already sold Raheem Sterling to their direct Premier League rivals, was apparently deemed too excessive in the end for Boehly to pay. This is according to The Athletic, who have reported that the 27-year-old will be part of Pep Guardiola's plans for 2022/23 despite 'strong' interest from Chelsea, who weren't willing to pay up in this situation.

football.london understands Chelsea are about to announce the signing of Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly, after agreeing a £34million deal. Ake and Presnel Kimpembe were meant to be the next through the doors after the Senegal international, but a last-minute decision from the new Chelsea ownership has suddenly thwarted these plans.

From Molly kilete, Abuja The Army has arrested an officer in the rank of a Captain and 33 soldiers who were on guard duty at Kuje Prisons, over last Tuesday’s terrorists’ attack on the facilities. The soldiers have been moved to the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Barracks, Abuja, where they are undergoing.

The soldiers have been moved to the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Barracks, Abuja, where they are undergoing investigation and interrogation.

It was gathered that the soldiers were arrested for negligence and cowardice; for failing to foil the attack or even preventing the terrorists from releasing prisoners from the facility.
A top military source told Daily Sun that those arrested were being investigated to unravel the mystery behind the attack.

The source described the attack on Kuje prison, where soldiers were deployed to man, as a national embarrassment, and said the military was not taking the incident lightly.

“When such things happen, we don’t let them lie low; there must be thorough investigation. The military is self-regulating and all the instrument to self-regulate are there, so we must do the needful.”

It was learnt that from investigations, the soldiers did not fire a single shot to repel the attackers, as they were found to be in possession of the complete ammunition assigned to them before they were deployed to the facility at the time of their arrest.

A top military source said the revelation that the soldiers still had their complete ammunition intact was another puzzle the army authorities and those investigating the matter were trying to figure out.
A top security source, who described the actions of the soldiers as a serious security breach, said, “there can’t be any justification for the actions of the soldiers for not reacting because, in the first place, their deployment to the facility was to prevent any attack or to repel any attack.

When contacted, the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said: “I have not been given any brief on that; I have not received many brief on that. I am just returning from Kaduna, so I can’t speak on what I have not been briefed.”
