Politics › 22 APC Senators Planning To Defect To PDP — Fani-kayode by eddie7(op): 7:40pm On Jun 22, 2022
About 22 APC Senators planning to defect to PDP — Fani-Kayode

As reported by Miftaudeen Raji

No fewer than 22 Senators on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress may dump the APC for the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, a chieftain of the ruling APC, Femi Fani-Kayode has hinted.

According to a statement issued via the verified Twitter handle of Fani-Kayody on Wednesday, the Senators are threatening to decamp the PDP because they have been denied the tickets to return to the Senate.

His words, “This is serious and something must be done to prevent it. Many are concerned and we urge our able Nat. Chairman and the National Secretary to reach them. We cannot afford to lose them.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the APC, Adamu Abdullahi had met with the party’s senators on Wednesday.

Adamu also met with the President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan for a brief meeting before the general meeting at the National Assembly complex.

It was learnt that the number of APC senators has been reduced to 62, by the virtue of those senators who failed to secure return tickets to the chamber.

Y
Recently, two senators from Bauchi and Imo States had resigned their membership of the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party respectively during the Senate plenary.

The Senators include Senator Dauda Jika representing Bauchi Central and elected on the platform of the APC; and Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi representing Imo East Senatorial District, who was elected on the platform of the PDP.

In a separate letter addressed to Lawan, the Senators conveyed their decision to resign their membership of the APC and PDP, to join the Labour Party and New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP respectively.

```Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution.
According to the Greeks there are three types of people on earth,
- the idiots,
- the tribesmen, and
- the citizens.
Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.
The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.
2. When the Greeks used the word *"idiot"*, they did not use it as a curse word.
Idiots are people who just don’t care.
If they write exams, they will cheat.
If they are in government they will steal.
An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.
According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.
3. The next set of people are tribesmen, these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.
These are people that believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.
It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.
When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion as a tribe.
A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes.
They trust only their tribesmen.
4. The last group are citizens.
These are people that like to do things the right way.
They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.
They drive within speed limits.
They respect the laws, won’t cheat in exams.
In government they won’t steal.
They are compassionate and give to others to promote their wellbeing.
Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.
The Greeks called this group the citizens.
Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots.
Others have so many idiots.
A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.
And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.
But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.
Where do you belong?
Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen?
Reflect about your life.
Reflect about your country and Africa in general before you reflect also about who you voted and who you are intending to vote come 2023.
Food for thought.```
Prof. Kayode Adebowale, a member of ASUU and current Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan was on duty as returning officer of the just concluded Ekiti governorship election
Prof. Adebowale didn't turn down this 'juicy' offer in solidarity of the ongoing strike
I am pretty sure a good number of INEC's ad hoc staff are members of ASUU drawn from Universities
A good number of those who came out to vote for the Party in power to win are students, no sign of protest during voting to vent their frustration or better still refusing to turn up as a result of the ongoing strike
Who do you blame between ASUU and Government?
ADC picks Malika Sani as Kachikwu’s running mate
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has disclosed that Dr. Malika Sani would run along side Dumebi Kachikwu as the vice presidential candidate of the party.
This was made known to newsmen Saturday evening by the National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu at the party’s two-day retreat in Abuja.
According to the Chairman ADC, the party has found a ‘critical intellectual’ as a vice president for the country.
He said, “We’ve had a good party arrangement, Dr. Malika Sani, has been put in place, he is a great party man and one of the critical intellectuals for nation building in Nigeria.”
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Chief Nwosu assured Nigerians that ADC remains the party that can deliver, adding that the party has opened its doors for collaboration, alliances and fusions.
He alluded to the ADC primary as one of the best primary elections, saying that, “In this last primary elections, only three political parties did what we will qualify as a national convention and presidential primaries. PDP, APC and the ADC were the only three parties that held what we can call a meaningful party primary.
In other parties, some individuals went and bought over the party and were declared the candidates. I think the media should give ADC all the credit for what we’ve done as a political party. And even if you compare us with the APC and PDP primaries I can say we scored 90 percent.”
Fielding questions from journalists on why a former presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu, quit the party, Chief Nwosu had this to say, “We had 2050 delegates from all the 36 states of Nigeria, all the 774 local governments and tribes were there. And there is no judgement or decision making that will be richer than the diversity of over several ethnicities and local governments.
“Some people may be feeling cheated but if the entire family of Nigeria if they come together and decide this is their man and some people feel cheated, Nigerians have decided, Chief Nwosu didn’t decide, I never told anybody who to vote for, Nigerians decided.
That is why in the forthcoming elections, Nigerians will decide it, no one man can decide this election. What happened in the ADC convention is a microcosm of what will happen cum 2023 general elections. Therefore you should start giving ADC the credit that it deserves.”
On his part, ADC’s presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, said the retreat would afford the party opportunity to prepare with state Chairmen for harmony towards a successful presidential campaign.
He said, “We are having two-day retreat, the retreat addresses three issues, it’s on post convention issues, state of the state and the way forward for us as a party.
“I’m sure you aware that aside from the two better known parties, ADC is the third party that has a structure in all the states, so we’ve all our states Chairmen from the 36 states here, we have our gubernatorial candidates for those states and we have our NWC and the BoT members here reviewing our performance and how our convention, went, reviewing the strength of the states and their readiness for the next elections and also coming up with a strategy for all the states so that we could harmonise for the presidential campaign.”
Ekiti guber : EFCC operatives arrest ‘APC agent’ for alleged vote-buying
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a man suspected to be an agent of the All Progressives Congress for alleged vote-buying in the ongoing gubernatorial elections in Ekiti State.
The agent was nabbed at the polling unit located at Ola Oluwa Grammar School, Ilawe road, Ado Ekiti.
