LukasPodolski:

what is your problem?

he said he prefers learning Hausa to ibo, why can't you respect his choice?

is it by force to learn ibo? anyone can learn whatever he/she likes, be it German, French, Efik, fulani, Ibibio, Tiv etcetera.

as a Yorubaman, I'm not planning to learn a second local language, because I don't need it, I only understand English and Yoruba, this is my choice, and I expect people to respect my idea.

please act like a sensible fellow.

too many dumb fools on this forum, gosh.

My question is not centered to him only to all yorubas who are so kin to northerners i dont know why our people so love Northern who dont even see us as brother's

We are finding difficultties to unite with other southerners but here we are lobbying the north who are endegering our people

How long will yoruba continue like this, is it a curse for us

I just created this account, so I can hear you guys views and opinion on what am about to say. Now this isn't some fiction or made up stuff, I am being 100% real here. And please don't mind my errors.

I stay with my Elder brother on the mainland who lives in a two bedroom apartment, I have been with him since June this year and I am 23 years old. We occupy one of the flats on the ground floor, while this my said neighbour, his wife and two kids occupies the one on the second floor. I work as a casual staff on the island with an IT firm, I do come back late in the night due to Lagos traffic wahala, so I don't even know most of the people staying around. Now fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I got sick and was down with typhoid, a nurse came around to administer drips on me and I took medications. Since last week I have fully recovered, but my Elder bro told me to relax for now, that he will work out something for me. These days that I have been around, I do see my neighbor wife and we greet ourselves( I must say she's dark, pretty and must be in her early 30s). Just few days back she added me on Facebook, am still surprised how she got my FB username. She chatted me up and we started talking. She said, she just wanna be friends with me. I said no problem. But the thing is, yesterday she said she is crushing on me on FB and don't mind we having intimate relationship. I told her it won't be possible since she's married and besides her husband is a good friend with my Elder bro. Now this morning, while I was alone at home she brought food for me, I don't want her to feel bad, so I took it. Now she's acting so nice around me and I don't want my Elder bro to feel anything. I am even thinking of telling him, but am scared things may turn south if her husband gets to know, she had already begged me not to tell anyone and I promised I won't tell anyone. Now pls how can I stop her from coming around me without causing bad blood ??. I would have given in because she is very hot with nice body, but she is married. I need your advice guys. Thanks

Just try and be ignoring her even in public she wikk get the message

This is childish. There is not a single evidence that proves Isselle are Bini. However, I am not disputing some edoid migrated to Iselle at later period and are a minute population but claiming Isselle are Bini is just blatantly ignorance and stinks of inferior mindset. Obi of Onicha will never try that foolishness and he rightly stated in his interview that Onicha were Igbo in reverse migration after the agha iduu na oba.

You are even claiming Asaba. You guys are shameless and pathetic. If you needed population why didn't you enlarge your chiefdom when you were the "great Bini empire" , whatever that means....lmao

Now , you are jubilating over some hungry youths from Ikwerre who went to kiss asz at your Oba palace. Well , just know this Ikwerre is a goner, they can never be Bini even if they want to...this is purely a bad tactics for them. They won't even eat Bini food , practice your fetish culture or marry Bini women. This is just true....they fall for Igbo women like it's a spell!

LMAO

Why the fuss, isselukwu are ibos and the royalties are benin, anybody claiming isselukwu is benin should be. Avoided

And anyone that says some few benins and her influence can't be found in isselukwu should also be avoided

Isselukwu are originally ibos and would remain ibos, but the royalties are benins

Iseselle Ukwu are Igbo through and through. If they like let them go eat oba shit at the end they will still speak Igbo , eat Igbo food , marry Igbo, worship in Igbo and look like Igbo. With time they will look more silly just like Ikwerre are beginning to look. You should be worried that people who you absolutely nothing in common with are claiming to be your kin.

No one. Deniel they aint igbo, some very few benin population is among them wich are they royals, they are originally igbos no doubt but now they are not pure igbos anymore and they would never fully claim ibo

The British Empire & Benin are a totally different kettle of fish.
Give me a source which states Benin had total control of the trade between the Bight of Benin to the Bight of Biafra.
Nri had far more influence in the east than Benin yet it isn't an empire.
Oyo arguably had a vassal states yet you do not quality them for empire status.
You even claim that the Sokoto Caliphate wasn't an empire.
I agree with all your statements but that does not make Benin an empire I'm sorry.
For you the only Empire in west Africa was Benin...

Bro i dont know the useless nri myth you want to drag me into

As long as the ibo traders came to the shores to trade with the Europeans the oba oversaw their trade

If you believe that the indigenous word for king in Edo is oba then all Edo are Yoruba, because Yoruba started obaship,in fact Edeyoung you are not honest in treating these topic a lot of Edo historians mentioned the ogisos not as myth but as history, and they also mentioned that oranmiyan displaced the ogisos and started the oba dynasty, but here you are because you hate Yoruba's denying that fact even though it is obvious

Edo historian says oduduwa was from benin

Yoruba said its a lie

But truth is that all the Oduduwa whatsoever is a myth that never existed

Ogiso are sky kings and they never existed too
In an old benin account recorded by Europeans ogiso ruled when the earth was yet unformed

Bro benin-ife never had connections unless you can prove it to me

Or you just go back to were you are coming from

Oba is the original title of the benin monarchy benins loaned it to yorubas

If you disagree with disagree read this screenshot

Or you can try to bring archeological findings or writing records were you can prove benin had contact with ife in the past

If not for the British, the entire south west of Nigeria would have been part of the Caliphate, that's a fact.

Benun controlled part of southwest, and you think benin would allow such expansion if it would cause harm his vassals

Before the British arrival the Sokoto empire was already weak constant revolt by the hausas against the ruling fulanis, it was on the verge off collapse when the British came to hijack it

Empire that couldn't even resist the British instead acted as zombies for the British

Abeg shift your useless kingdom go that side

Are you aware sokoto never had a string army that extended over its vassals the army waa fragmented sokoto was just a religious town

Nothing more

What part of Igboland do you refer to? I would love some sources because by my account I've never heard of Benin having any imperial presence over any province east of the Niger. Perhaps some Western Igbo communities but that's hardly an entire ethnic group is it.

Also Kingdoms can rule others, its the extant to which they rule & enforce imperium that dictates their political status. Benin never ruled the entirety of one single ethnic group or nation, apart from Edo and fractions of smaller tribes. How can this be considered an empire.

The map shows The Kingdom of Benin at its greatest territorial extant in 1580. Benin from this point in the 16th century was on the decline.
Please tell me if the map is accurate or not because based the statements you've made, the entire south west/eastern region should be under the "Benin Empire"

You're fighting yourself bro

Benin never had full fledged influence on all the territories around it, neither did the British have full control on every tribe in the now nigeria but the British influence spread across every tribe despite even if the British presence wasnt felt in all tribe

Your problem is you have never studied benin histtory

Benin present wasnt felt in all southern tribe but its economic and political influenced stretched around the now southern nigeria the oba of benin controlled trade of all southern to the Europeans

What caused the benin-British war was benin stoping the core east traders i mean eastern ibo traders from selling to the British without him giving orders and the eastern ibi never really had any benin military or cultural influence on them but his economic influence covered them

The oba of benin later stoped all southern nigeria traders from selling to the British without his orders, traders from core east, ijo, ijebbu and the others trading with the British and they complained to the British reason for no trade, it became obvious that benin had to go down before trade could go on effectively with the British

Benin conquered for trade benefit, they dont just wage war aimlessly

Now you see benin had control over southern nigeria and her presence spread over southern nigeria of today,

Please read more on benin history the British didnt call benin empire for nothing

Stop looping benin in the useless category you put it

No you are wrong, the Xhosa-Anglo wars have been compared to the English & French 100 (116) years war due to its longevity as an unresolved conflict. There were 56 conflicts from 1337 - 1453 between the two European powers yet they're all part of one big major war. The Hundred Years War. The same logic applies to the Xhosa wars, its an issue of semantics.

Again no, the Benin Expedition concluded the war after the British raised Edo to the ground and Benin's administrative and military structure collapsed and the royal family was exiled.

After Benin fell in February 1987 there were small pockets of resistance, yes this is true but the war was over, it was irrelevant.
Japan officially signed the peace treaty with the allies in august 1945 ending WW2, but did you know that some Japanese soldiers did not surrender till as late as 1974 and beyond. Hiroo Onoda was one such man, an intelligence officer of the Imperial Japanese Army who was hiding out with three of his fellow soldiers on a small island in the Philippines. He was only relived from his duty when an old commanding officer came in the name of Emperor Hirohito to convince the old war veteran the war was really over.
Therefore by your logic Japan was still at war with the Allies up until 1974?
No because wars have a start date and an end date, a series of wars is still considered as one overarching war. Once and enemy is totally defeated by conquest or total surrender the war is over.

Also there's no need for personal attacks, this is a healthy debate and we can agree & disagree that's the beauty of discussion, so please don't turn this into a train of insults, keep the discourse gentlemanly. Thank you!.

Bro i addressed alk this in my mention to you benin never had conflict wars with any European till 1897,the benin unpreparednes and full military attacks on benin prompted benin early defeat, benin surrender was on the oba orders

The military attacks used to fall benin was used in your so called ashanti and it fell in days lesser than benin who fell minths later

Guy something tells me you have really not extensively read benin-British war or probably you're not thoughtful to reason beyond what youre typing

You keep saying I am a yoruba disguising as an Edo while I never claimed any ethnicity. Hmmm. Sometimes people accuse others of doing what they themselves are doing. Like some thieves accuse other people of theft and some murderers accuse other people of the murder they committed.
So are you a yoruba pretending to be an Edo ?
I think that is exactly what you are, which explains the fact you were earlier attacking anybody who wanted the Benin bronze to be back with their rightful owner and the fact you were covering a yoruba troll with praises and also the fact you are trying to smear the Oba of Benin.
