Nigeria police detectives have captured Ngozika Ezeokoye, the secretary to the billionaire kidnapper named Evans, who went into hiding as soon as she learnt that police had nabbed her employer. After she was captured, Ngozika said she never knew her boss was into kidnapping. “I used to work with a bank till I retired because of the poor condition of work. I got a job with CMT motors in 2015. “Initially, our warehouse was in Apapa till they moved us to 235 Ago Palace way in Okota in 2016. My job was to take note of trucks that go to work, their destination and amount due for each trip. “The company has eleven trucks and all the vehicles original documents in my possession. The name of my boss is George Onwuamadike and every money is paid into Chinwuba multi trade limited. “I was paid N70,000 a month. I only knew about it on TV. I did not run away, I only travelled to visit my uncle in the village when I received a call that I should bring the documents. I was planning to come to Lagos when the police arrested me.” http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/09/kidnapper-evans-secretary-arrested-says.html cc lalasticlala mynd44 |

PHOTOS: 6 year-old Boko Haram Victim, Ahmadu, Shocked Dubai Doctors, 'Miraculously' Begins to Walk A six-year old Boko Haram victim, Ali Ahmadu, has survived a corrective surgery in his spinal cord. He can now walk, after 14 days in the hospital. While being ferried to Dubai on September 10, all he could mutter repeatedly in Hausa was: “Ina so insake tafiya da kafana…Don Allah ataimakamu…Don Allah. Ina so in je makaranta”. (“I want to begin to walk with my legs again. For God’s sake, assist me. I want to go to school”). Now Ali can walk as he “miraculously” stood up from his hospital bed to the amazement of his shocked doctors. They had projected that it would take him four weeks to walk. The surgery at Zulekha Hospital Sharjah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates was coordinated by Dr. Nishit Bhargava. It was bankrolled by the Dickens Sanomi Foundation with $48,000 (N17.5million). The Foundation was established by Mr. Igho Sanomi who owns the Taleveras Group. Sanomi said: “Miracles do happen. For those of you who don’t believe in God, better believe in God now. “This is Ali Ahmadu who was run over by Boko Haram terrorists in 2014. The boy and his pregnant mother were left under a tree for three days. The boy was bleeding from mouth and nose throughout the agonising days. “Ali’s spinal cord was damaged and he couldn’t walk. For three years, help was needed. God made it possible after five to six hours of surgery and 48 hours in intensive care. Little Ali could walk again. This happened today to everyone’s surprise. “This determined six-year old boy got off his bed and decided to walk despite doctors’ expectations that he would need physiotherapy to learn to walk again at least three weeks after surgery. Today, Ali walked after just seven days. “This made my day and I am so proud of the Dickens Sanomi Foundation for making this surgery possible financially.” http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/09/photos-6-year-old-boko-haram-victim.html

The Chief Imam of Lagos, Haruna Akinola, is dead. The Muslim cleric passed away on Sunday after a brief illness at the age of 80. Mr. Akinola died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, a source said. The President of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, in Lagos State, Saheed Ashafa, described him as a worthy leader. Mr. Ashafa urged other Islamic leaders to emulate the deceased, saying that his promotion of unity was outstanding. “He was indeed an epitome of unity for the Nigerian Muslims and a worthy father for all. He would be remembered for keeping Muslims together in the state and beyond. “Although, the vacuum he left behind may appear difficult to fill but his legacy while alive would create a source of guidance for the Muslim community. May Allah accept his as one of the righteous,” Mr. Ashafa said. http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/09/chief-imam-of-lagos-haruna-akinola-dies.html

The Super Eagles have dropped to the 39th spot from 38th in the July FIFA World Rankings. The rankings table on FIFA’s website on Thursday indicated that Nigeria now has 715 points as against 730 it had in the June rankings. The ranking also saw the national team become sixth in Africa behind Egypt, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tunisia and Cameroon respectively as against Nigeria’s fourth position in the continent in June. On the global scene, Germany have capped a sensational week on the international stage by returning to the top of the FIFA World Rankings for the first time since being knocked off the spot exactly two years ago. Following their 1-0 win over Chile in the FIFA Confederations Cup final in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the newly crowned champions have narrowly overtaken Brazil (2nd, down by 1 point) and leapfrogged Argentina (3rd, down by 1 point). European neighbours, Poland (6th, up 4) also have cause to celebrate, having risen to their best-ever ranking. Spain, however, dropped from the first ten to now place 11th. http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/07/nigeria-drops-to-38th-in-fifa-world.html cc lalasticlala

Nasarawa Workers Break Ramadan Fast With Water As Gov. Al-Makura Refuses to Pay Salaries Striking workers of Nasarawa State Government on Friday said that non-payment of their salaries had made them to break Ramadan fast with only water. In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Keffi, the workers called on the government to pay them their three months’ salary arrears and other entitlements to save their families from hardship. NAN reports that the workers began an indefinite strike on May 12 to press home their demand for payment of salary arrears, and regular promotion of workers, among others things. A teacher, Alhaji Garba Audu, said: “I am a teacher with the state Ministry of Education. “For more than three months, we have not been paid our salaries, and this has caused untold hardship for us and our family members. “To have money to buy foodstuff to break Ramadan fast is a problem; most of us break our fast with water due to the non-payment of our salaries. “Fasting has a lot of blessings from Allah, and every Muslim is expected to partake in it; hence, the need for the state government to pay workers’ salaries.’’ He appealed to the state government to meet the workers’ demands to end the strike and restore industrial harmony. Another worker, Mr Samson Dauda of the Ministry of Works and Housing, said that the strike had also negatively affected all sectors of the state economy. “To meet my basic needs and those of my family members is a challenge. For over three months now, we have not been paid. This is not fair,’’ he said. Hajiya Maryam Sani, who works with the state Ministry of Agriculture, told NAN: “Most of us are breaking our Ramadan fast with water, which is not supposed to be,” she said. She also appealed to the government to meet the workers’ demands to alleviate their suffering. Some other workers, who pleaded anonymity, accused the state government of neglecting its civil servants. They said that no nation could achieve speedy development without the contributions of its workforce. The state Gov Tanko Al-Makura, on May 29, said that the workers were not on strike as far as he was concerned. He warned that any worker who would not resume work, would be taking a risk. - NAN http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/06/nasarawa-workers-break-ramadan-fast.html cc lalasticlala mynd44 |
