That is the hallmark of true democracy. The president should be able to carry everybody along. Same thing Obama is doing in USA.

Yes, that is another angle to it. It is already too late to make any meaningful progress along that line.

Hope lies in the future, not in the past.

Buhari should have STEPPED DOWN honorably and gained the respect of Nigerians for showing his desire for change.

Question for those of you crucifying people who associate with Tinubu: WHY HAVE YOU NOT CRUCIFIED FASHOLA FOR ACKNOWLEDGING TINUBU AS HIS MENTOR?

That journalist was just digging his own grave. He thought it he could go away with such an accusation after the Haliburton scandal experience. He even went to the extent of naming over 5 international companies (including Mobil).

PoliticsRe: Why Inec Omitted Lp, Cpc Logos On Ballot Papers – Rec by efisher(m): 7:33pm On Apr 11, 2011
After all the ministerial appointments and all we will have an idea of what really happened. Some of these politicians have good foresight. They strike deals all over the place and play compensation politics. We hardly ever find out the whole truth in politics.
PoliticsRe: Why Inec Omitted Lp, Cpc Logos On Ballot Papers – Rec by efisher(m): 7:20pm On Apr 11, 2011
True, ACN did not need PDP to pull off that feat. It is a strong party and PDP will prefer not to try anything funny with them.
I'll like to see how all the drama ends. grin
PoliticsRe: Why Inec Omitted Lp, Cpc Logos On Ballot Papers – Rec by efisher(m): 7:12pm On Apr 11, 2011
@ Ileke-IdI,
I do not think there is enough time for an ACN/CPC collaboration at the presidential level anymore. It's too late. Whoever steps down needs time to convince party loyals to move over. They also need time to inform people, hence many voters will still vote for the party that steps down! That will be wastage of votes. Also, some voters may get angry and decide not to vote for the consensus candidate. It is very complex and would have been more effective if they had campaigned together.

That thought of OBJ/Tinubu came to my mind when I remembered a statement OBJ made sometime ago. If you can remember he said "I am ready to die for Nigeria". That statement really sounded fishy to me. OBJ is a tortoise and is very good at playing games. Ribadu is another factor too. Once again, all these are just thoughts that cross my mind anyway, I cannot substantiate anything. Let's just see what happens.
Is this sarcasm?

Even IF PDP is the only party capable of election rigging (which I doubt), PDP would no way help ACN win. . . .dude this ideology doesnt even make sense. Esp since Tinubu(ACN) and OBJ (PDP) are in no way on a common ground.
The part in bold: Will you be surprised if we eventually discover that OBJ and Tinubu have some secret deals?  lipsrsealed

I'm just saying cos these guys could put up a good show in public but do something else behind the scenes. It is just a thought anyway.

EPOMA:
@ Seun.

Can't believe you said this Seun. With all your experience on Nairaland forum.Maybe you were not born when Buhari ruled, for you  not to know much about this man or probably you are like most Nigerians who pushes history aside so soon.

For Buhari, I know that he paid up  Nigerian debt in 1 year, made sure that all the essential commodities in the warehouses were brought out and sold to the public. Brought discipline and work ethics to government ministries, fought corruption by trying to bring back Umaru dikko, I can continue.  shocked

For Goodluck, stole money through the wife, Try to get Ibori freed in the UK and Dubai. Obasanjo Houseboy, had to report to Oga on election day at Ota farm. Allows his PDP governors to (Godswill Akpabio )behave as they like. He does not have a mind of his own.

I will not say much. I dont want my country to continue having the worst first lady ever as we do now. Buhari has said that he will scrap the office of the first lady, lots of good stuff coming from Buhari
My good friend, history did not record it the way you are playing it out for us. Thank God there is a website called Youtube.

Watch it yourself:

The video was recorded way back in time. Notice the journalist's comments on the economy and human rights violation.

PoliticsRe: Ribadu Vs Jonathan Vs Buhari. Which One Is Good For Nigeria? by efisher(m): 5:49pm On Apr 11, 2011
It is allowed for CPC to step down but any votes cast for CPC will not count for ACN. The ballot papers have already been printed.

Right now it is already too late to consider stepping down because, there is not enough time to notify and convince voters to vote. Also, ACN and CPC still rival each other in many ways.
PoliticsRe: Will Fashola Join PDP Or Will He Overthrow Tinubu In ACN? by efisher(m): 5:41pm On Apr 11, 2011
Guys this is politics. Even if it is difficult to get Fashola, PDP will do anything to get a man like him on board in order to enjoy renewed support from the SW. If PDP injects some fresh blood like Fash, Utomi, Ngozi and Sanusi they will shake the earth to its foundations. After this time the race will not be just about the party name. Fortunately, PDP has what it takes to bring him in. It will only take a lot of effort and some bad heads must roll to make it happen. I guess that is the kind of reformation PDP will target from now on.

Somethings may have happened underground that we do not know about. Recall just before the elections, OBJ made a symbolic statement: "I am ready to die for Nigeria - OBJ". Read in between the lines, the voters may have just acted out that script! Nothing is impossible in politics.
PoliticsRe: National Assembly Elections, Saturday 9th April, 2011 by efisher(m): 5:08pm On Apr 11, 2011
It is clear that the elections were very credible. CPC does not have the grassroot structures to rake in the harvest. I also noticed that CPC won seats in areas like Katsina and Bauchi where voters had earlier protested the emergence of GEJ as the PDP presidential candidate. They were angered by the zoning issue. See the news:

Anti-Jonathan Protests in Katsina, Bauchi (18 Jan 2011)

See the effect of this on the results:

PoliticsRe: Will Fashola Join PDP Or Will He Overthrow Tinubu In ACN? by efisher(m): 4:41pm On Apr 11, 2011
Fashola will be very difficult to get. Also, Fashola Presidency cannot sail in 2015 under any party. Nigeria is not mature enough for that. Tribalism will not let it be. Even if PDP gets Fashola, the best he can get is VP.

ACN has to play a strong northern/southern card like (Ribadu or Lamido) / Ngozi or (Ribadu or Lamido) /Fashola. If they can get the backing of people like Utomi etc, they may stand a chance to uproot a Sambo/whoever PDP.

2015 will probably be more about the strength of the candidates than the strength of the party. Anybody that can get the strongest candidates will have the upper hand. IMHO, if PDP wants to remain in power beyond 2015, Sambo should not be an option. I do not think Sambo is strong enough to sway southern votes and attract strong Northern support. PDP needs to shop for the best stock. If PDP somehow gets the likes of Sanusi Lamido, Ribadu and Fashola to their side, there will be no stopping them. It is even more likely for Ribadu to move over to PDP than Fashola.

DrummaBoy:
1. Beaf should tell us the date on the said quotation. As far as I know that was sometimes in 2007. Bakare himself has come out to retract his denoucement of Buhari (NN24 for an example). It is cheap blackmail to continue to use such a qoatation, like your other blackmailers, Gbagi Foundation and co, are doing on the pages of Newspapers.
With the prospect of flying around in private jets and receiving admiration from millions of Nigerians, it wouldn't be difficult to retract his denouncement. BTW, if the statement was made so long ago, I wonder why he didn't retract the statement until when his personal interest became involved. undecided

We agree humans make mistakes but there are some qualities a leader in a complex country like Nigeria should have. One is the ability to control the tongue. His type can set the entire country on fire faster than he can realize himself. He has always been the intolerant type. At this time, we need people who signify unity and not those who sow discord.

where u guys actually expecting much performance from CPC at the national assembly or even gubernatorial level? These results is what I  expected.  Though I have fully shifted my support from CPC back to GEJ camp, but I still think is too early to write them(CPC) off at the presidencial level. Anything can still happen, these abokis cant be trusted at all, becos they see everything from the religious/region/ethnic perspective.

@poster,

seriously, is this really about Buhari? Is this about CPC?

This is about your future, our future as a Nation and the future of generations yet unborn. If we had made the right choices in 2003 and 2007, would we be were we are now? If we fail to make the right choice come April 16th, your guess is as good as mine as to where we will be come 2015.

I am not a politician. This isn't a competition or game for me. I just want a new Nigeria. A Nigeria where my children will live in and be proud of.
If we like, on April 16th, mortgage the future of your children and children's children for ethnic, tribal and religious sentiments.

Up to you.
Buhari has no Future for Nigeria. All he has is a past!

If you really want a future for Nigeria, you should be looking the way of GEJ or Ribadu. Buhari had his chance to stand behind Ribadu to form a formidable opposition but he failed to do so. It is time to move on.

now we have a president that is human, he sometimes shivers when he is tense, we see him like one of us, he is a full civilian, he is from a humble background, kiss he takes time to explain everything he does, some people might say he is week- but i think it is a good thing as well, because he can be challenged when he tries to go astray. I wonder while some people are still clamouring for a retired general, that has no heart, that is wicked, pretending, whom once given the mandate will become a dictator, who no one can challenge, whose descision alone will be final, who will single handedly pick his succesor. Remember, Once a thief is also a thief, once a general is also a general, it is in the blood and in the psycology.BUhari is pretending to be soft to gain sympathy. Do not becasue of change vote for the wrong person, look at the UK today, they are crying and wishing they had left the labour party, becasue of change they went for the torres. I need change myself, but is Buhari the change we need? I willl say no, he belongs to the gang we want out, The change Is GEJ, we have it in front of us and we do not know what we have, if for any reason GEJ fails to win, then we will be back to square 1 in Nigeria. Think properly my fellow Nigerians, and Vote wisely. Vote for anybody but certainly not BUhari.
