There are only two types of people in Nigeria: Good or Bad and not Northerners or Southerners. Assess people by their character which they control not by their place of origin which they cannot control. God made us and placed us in the locality where we were born. To discriminate against any human based on place of origin is to question the wisdom of God. And the wisdom of God is beyond the wisdom of man. GEJ

RIP to the corp members who lost their lives.

Isn't it high time that the Nigerian govt. did something concerning the National Youth Service Scheme. Must we continue to loose a good number of youths(graduates at that) to unnecessary and sometimes avoidable deaths that has nothing to do with them.

The ideology behind the scheme is not just working.

PLEASE ANYONE ON THIS FORUM THAT HAS THE EARS OF THE PEOPLE IN GOVT. SHOULD ADVICE THEM TO SCRAP THE SCHEME OR BETTER STILL LET EVERY GRADUATE SERVE IN HIS OR HER HOME STATE.

This has notthing to do with politics, we are steadily sacrificing our youths to unnecessary deaths.(It's not even as if the job is available after the one year waste).

Why on God's earth will some people decide that the best way to put accross their message is by bombing their fellow citezens.
Seconded.

Alternatively, it could be made optional. The government can then channel the resources properly to meet the need of those who willingly enroll.

Ipsos Global CEO - We Back Thisday/Ipsos Polls

The global CEO of Ipsos, Mr. Didier Truchot, has written to enlighten critics of its pre-election polls in Nigeria, explaining that the survey was conducted under the best global practices.

Reacting to a query from a Nigerian based in the UK, Mr. Dotun Oloko, who sought to know the veracity of the polls in view of the emotions expressed by critics, Truchot wrote: "Dotun Oloko, this letter is in response to your recent email.

With regard to the THISDAY/Ipsos publication of 21 March 2011, I can confirm that Ipsos Nigeria conducted the polling research and that the published results were a true reflection of the outcome of this exercise. Ipsos, as an independent and neutral research organisation, stands by these results."

He also listed the global experience and reputation of Ipsos.

"As you may be aware, Ipsos is a global leader in public opinion research and political polling. nigerian politics should be made less attractive by removing the money aspect in it. i stay in a country where theres talks about an election but nobody is even interested. In the streets most people dont even know about this election. i myslef hardly flows the news about the election here. if money and future political/high postion seats/jobs are removed from nigerian politics there will be less interest and only people with geniune interest.
That would have been great. You can imagine how much our legislators are paid. They will do anything to get there.

shocked If this report is true, we are in the middle of a war already!!! I do not see how corpers will come out tomorrow to conduct this election. If I were a corper, I will definitely stay at home.

From the report, it seems the corpers were targetted on purpose. The aim would be to ensure the election does not hold. The world is in turmoil already. Every problem seems to get worse by the day. Are we the next in this mad turn of events?

I think not.

Lives have been lost; young, innocent lives for that matter. This is not the time to be pointing fingers.

What I will say, however, is that GEJ candidacy has heated up the polity exponentially. He can't hide from that. Whilst he has the right to run for the Presidency, I can guarantee you that there wouldn't be this level of danger in the country if he had decided to run on a different platform. Everybody knows Zoning exists in the PDP. Even OBJ himself said so recently.
My brother, you started off well but you went along the same path again. Remember that tomorrow is not the presidential election. Will you also blame GEJ candidacy for the fracas in Akwa Ibom between two governorship candidates? Haba!

GEJ or no GEJ, these animals will fight and kill innocent people whenever there is an election. Remember how our legislators fight like animals in the house of assembly.

As I said I will not argue with you cos you will choose the defend the indefendsible, probabaly no one close to you have been in any of the blasts, I have had 3 people in the seperate blasts, one died two seriuosly injured. You talked of america, how did america respond to the attaacks? Serious security measures, try dropping a bag in the dustbin in newyork and see, abdulmuttalab decided to put a bomb in his underwear and now we all have to work bearfoot and beltless before we get on a plane. Pkease tell me whast security measueres the NSA has taken? After each blast they search cars for a few days chikenan. Clueless people
Sorry about your friends. You must have been really hurt.

The key point we are trying to make is that it is OUR country and not the government's country. If an armed robber breaks into a house and kills someone, nobody will blame the father of the house. The robber beat the security in place and perpetuated the atrocity. It is a time to mourn and a time to rethink.

Just today, the military was given a shoot at sight order. People were already saying that the government is killing a fly with a sledge hammer. But here we are! Every effort is being put into this thing. The military and police are involved. It is a serious issue and we all need to be on the same side. We do not really know where this is coming from. Anybody can make any assumption. It may be MEND or Boko Haram or Gaddafi or Bin Laden!!!! The possibilities are endless.

Nobody is at ease . I am very sure GEJ, Buhari, Ribadu, Jega and everyone is deeply concerned. A lot is being done right now. Nobody goes to sleep under a burning roof.
PoliticsRe: Bomb Explosion In Inec Office At Suleja.niger State by efisher(m): 9:00pm On Apr 08, 2011
We are here pointing fingers at ourselves and we are being killed little by little! Almighty America was hit by hijacked planes. Remember 9/11? Nobody heaped the blames on the president. We should remember our human side at times. If it goes wrong, EVERYBODY will lose!
PoliticsRe: Bomb Explosion In Inec Office At Suleja.niger State by efisher(m): 8:52pm On Apr 08, 2011
We need to drop this blame game for once and think as human beings! At least on this thread if not any other. A lot f effort has been put into this process. If it goes wrong, everybody is a loser. Corpers may have been killed in this blast. Who knows Gaddafi may be fueling this crisis from anywhere he is! Besides, a lot of military gadgets were intercepted some days ago from somewhere only God knows. We may be at war and not know it yet.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-585935.0.html

http://www.addpoll.com/results?61141,succes

that should give you a clue; so that you don't remain clueless as your role model GEJ.
There are many more polls online and offline / reputable and unreputable that have put GEJ on the lead.

Wadeoye:
@efisher, if GEJ is leading this poll, will you post the same response as the one above? Truth the say is bitter - anyway, the day is drawing closer as every. second passes.
My post is clear. Some things are certain and that includes:

1. Buhari will have most votes in the NW
2. GEJ will have most votes in Lagos
3. GEJ will have most votes in the SS and SE
4. Fashola will win Lagos Guber

I am not prophesying. It is what everyone knows. There is no need to cry over spilled milk.

O yeah. I have heard that line from Buhari himself before: "It was Rigged"
The funny thing is you rigged it yourself!!!

Let me give you a better excuse: Goodluck Jonathan is the President and he will naturally have more followers including non Nigerians.
Also, you can actually "unlike" the facebook page if you are not interested again.

Leave this e-battle alone. Let's face more serious issues.

Better. I love Ribadu even more for that. It shows he is thinking and not as backward as Buhari. GEJ has more followers on facebook and Ribadu, Fashola and the other guys have gone for twitter. But Buhari . . .

You wish he could be more sophisticated.

In case you forgot, Here is your topic: Gej Twitter Vs Buhari Twitter.
Look for another Buhari "official" page.

I need to preserve this your post for future reference before you delete it sharply!!!

timbuk two:
We all hear how GEJ is Nigeria's "online" President and yet his popularity seems to be dwindling massively - EVEN ONLINE.

While he claims to have 500,000 friends on facebook, what they won't tell you is that most of those friends joined his page immediately after he was made Acting President, when his popularity was stratospheric throughout the country.

Fast forward 12 months and it's a different story. Most of the his comments on his page are now openly challenged and more often than not he is abused.

What is more, his NEW twitter account only attracts a pitiful 208 followers; whereas Buhari has 1,249 followers.

Twitter and facebook are not your regular "faceless multiple ID" sites. GEJ is competing with people like Barrack Obama on facebook and you are comparing him to  one local champion.

When the fantasy is taken beyond limits, the reality bites harder.

I pity those whose hearts will be shattered as a result of the sharp contrast between this pole "poll" and reality. Anyway, the consolation prize (EMIR OF NAIRALAND POLLS) will be waiting at the end of the election.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu To Fashola: If My Wife Loses On Saturday, I Will Work Against You by efisher(m): 3:14pm On Apr 08, 2011
The story is twisted. If Tinubu works against Fashola is he not working against himself? Some of these propagandists do not even know how to cook up a story.

BTW, This text message caught my attention:
Johns83:
"I, Gov. Fashola (SAN) reject the impression of me created by d opposition-sponsored sms messages. I am not a duplicitous person & I stand solidly by my Mentor & Hero of Democracy Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Remember - A vote for PDP or Labour is a vote against me. Please vote only for ACN Candidates. Thank you. BRF."
So how come people have crucified Ribadu for acknowledging Tinubu but none of them has crucified Fashola for acknowledging the same man? Fashola has built a reputation that is hard to fault. This is food for thought for the politically naïve.
