Observations:
ACN has shown that a strategic approach to politics is more effective than the "anywhere-belle-face" approach of the CPC. 
PDP has a strong voice in every nook and cranny of the country and it seems to have tightened its hold everywhere apart from the SW.
CPC is riding on the name "Buhari".
ANPP is losing some of its significance to CPC

Effect:
ACN will show very strong presence in the governorship/state elections.
PDP will have sure victory at the first ballot.
When CPC loses the presidential election, they run the risk of collapsing and ANPP may likely fight back hard during the governorship election.

ACN seems to be the hope of opposition in 2015. If opposition parties can come together and look for "near flawless" candidates, they will have a chance. However, PDP will definitely come back strong with a candidate that is easy to sell.

The pattern we are seeing here will not be far from what we will see on Saturday. Ribadu will get more votes than Buhari. It is just obvious. Don't allow anybody deceive you that Buhari will perform miracle on Saturday. I think that Buhari should get ready for retirement. The lose of OBJ's mecenaries has boosted GEJ chances because most people see GEJ before now as OBJ's stooge. Bankole and Gbenga Daniel also lost. Good omen for GEJ. People are beginning to trust GEJ. Go to the streets and listen to peoples's opinion now. 24 hrs is enough to cause an upset in politics. People are not going to vote PDP as a party next Sat but an individual.

Buhari will do it again. He is a sectional leader with a pulpit VP. Period!

GBAM! But,

Ribadu will have better spread than Buhari but not total votes cast. Buhari will most likely draw some huge numbers from NW. Ribadu doesn't have a captive market as such but his result will be more attractive. It will show that ACN is more of a national party than CPC even with lower votes.

There are several problems with the consensus candidate thing. Some are:

1, ACN and CPC each need to make a statement at the presidential election in order to show their muscles ahead of governorship elections. Anyone that steps down will automatically lose political significance at the state level.

2, The time available is no longer enough for them to convince voters to align behind the choice party. The act may incur the wrath of party members and that will force them to vote against the consensus candidate. Thus, even if they gain some votes, the effect will not be too much.

3, CPC and ACN are rivals battling for control of the parliament. The battle line has already been drawn thus, they have to continue fighting.

I think ACN's popularity has more to do with Fashola's excellent performance than any other thing. The S.Westerners know how to deal with those who fail them and reward those who do well.

This forum is a joke! A circus, am watching it purely for laughs.1000 conflicting results! A lot of people have turned Nland to an alternate reality and somehow convinced themselves that it is the final authority, were "enlightened" people are. This elections have exposed how unreasonable a lot of us are, we are even more intolerant than the politicians we condemn and insult with so much big big grammar.

A former PDP member decamps to another party, defeats a sitting PDP legislator and people are happy? The whole election has been reduced to "remove PDP" which is not the only issue. We should engage the political process more intelligently and be more circumspect. Am not a PDP supporter, the political process is more involving than mere elections. After this all the "activists" and "opposition" will go to sleep for another 4yrs. Democratic change is not the World Cup, you cant achieve it by making noise every 4 years, its an ongoing process.

There are about 120,000 polling units in Nigeria how people "declare" a winner from results of 2 or three is beyond me. This trend will get worse next week because it will take longer to collate and ONLY the INEC chairman can dclare the results. This forum will be fun next week, I will make sure i have enough popcorn and beer.

My brother, it is expected. just sit back and enjoy yourself. I do not expect anybody to take this serious. I am having fun as I watch things play out. I cant wait for the next match.

How come INEC has hurriedly released figures in the SW states and all the states PDP is expected to win. The results from the major core northern states are still very sparse. Something fishy is happening o! PDP rigging machine has been set in motion!

Many people have said they like him but his party and OBJ may control him too much. However, he has shown by his approach to the election that all that claim is FALSE and UNFOUNDED. The party will play its role to the limits of what obtains in any other party. Now we have a much healthier parliament that can put him on his toes. This is democracy and I can assure you everybody's eyes have opened. Nobody can do just anything and go free. The opposition has a voice. So why not GEJ? Remember that all the policies to be implemented will go through the parliament. Every district is represented in the senate. Any one that doesn't represent his people well will automatically lose out. The game will be played by everybody. My strong points for GEJ include his strong uniting factor and his ideology of inclusiveness. He knows the value of using the experts. he doesn't have to be a superhero. He has shown himself to be a true democrat.

I also like Ribadu and I do not mind if he wins. My greatest joy will be to see Buhari step down  for Ribadu but I doubt if it will ever happen.

190 & co, you guys have "Obasanjoed" that question. The answer should be a simple one. Has he performed better? Or are you saying they are equal?

Ok let me make it simple:

a. Yes (Oshiomhole has performed better than Lucky)
b. No (Lucky has perfromed better than Oshiomhole)
c. Same (Oshiomhole's performance = Lucky's performance)

I am still trying to understand the basis for the celebrations of the anniihilation of PDP oh. From the CONFIRMED results, PDP only lost its grip on the South  West(expectedly so). The results released so far shows that PDP is the only party to win seats nationally.For example, in the senatorial elections they have in Kwara - 3 seats, Edo -1, Rivers 3, Kogi - 1, Gombe - 1, Adamaa -1, Benue - 3, Enugu - 3, Abia - 3 etc. They have won seats in all parts of the country while CPC cannot even manage to get reasonable votes outside some parts of the North. So I really dont get it when people celebrate that pdp is finished especially as the few ACN and APGA seats in the South East were also won by associates of pdp eg. Dora Akunyili .Or is there a different result that cpc and buhari fans are seeing?

Muami, allow CPC bask in the euphoria of assumed victories because it will help increase the intensity of whooping PDP will give them at the presidential and state elections. Once PDP wins in the presidential elections, CPC will crumble like a pack of cards at the governorship level. By then, PDP, ANPP and ACN will give them combined flogging and reduce them to a minor parliamentary - regional party.

Governor Gbenga Daniel's exceptionally bad performance has made people hate PDP in Ogun State.

What do people think about GEJ in Ogun State? Is it likely the governor's bad performance will affect him much.

Don`t mind them. They are taking advantage of GEJ`s freedom of the press policy. They will soon land in court against INEC to face criminal charges.

@ aletheia, when the results are completely out, we could try summing total votes for each party and comparing figures and spread.

PDP has so far competed well in all the geopolitical zones in terms of total votes cast. That sends a message about the party's spread.

GEJ supporters didn't want any of the blames on GEJ, rather they wanted JEGA to be 100% responsible, now that he's getting it right, you are not saying it's GEJ?

Is GEJ the INEC chairman or JEGA?


I know it was NASS that gave him close to 100billion naira and not GEJ.

honeric, I have had the same stance on this matter right from the onset.

My revenue allocation formula for Failure or Success of the election has always been:

JEGA: 80%
GEJ: 20%
