Yes but we are still a long way to go. The good thing is the embassy will have time for us since winter is approaching and we expect less tourist travelers, less aged travelers and general visitors. I am hoping in another 6wks we should start getting our "call-up letters" (medicals)..lol

On point.

lft: Hello all, please check out this letter I am drafting to accompany my document submission after medicals. This is meant for the accommodation I could not make payment for.

Dear Sir/Madam

RE: Application number

I am writing to clarify why I cannot include a receipt for the payment of accommodation.
My inability to include this receipt is as a result of the procedure involved for new students/applicants in applying to the University residence office. This involves registering online and applying for accommodation with an initial down payment to be assessed only after the application for accommodation is granted as boarding spaces are limited.
I have registered and I am in the process of applying for a boarding space but I have been having issues with my bank card which I am using to pay for the residence application fee. I hope to sort this out with my bank and complete this application soonest.

Sincerely

The last paragraph is suspicious, don't ever say you have issues with your Bank, because you expected to withdraw cash from the acc at any time.

Beside most schools if not all will offer a refund at the event you are refused. The only requirement is your refusal letter and timely re-call for funds in most cases about a $100 is forfeited.
Truth is CDHC knows this but De-emphasises it and bla bla bla

$100 is a small cash been compared to no refunds. That could be bank charges

AugustApplicant:

I said you wont be denied simply because you paid fees. NEVER said you(Spencer) was denied. Hope you get it?

My school requires you pay tuition. Infact a deadline for tuition payment is written on your acceptance letter.

Y re we confusing ourselves, like my case the deadline for tuition was two days before I submitted my documents, if u pay because of the deadline cdhc will understand, after all we are not heading to same school don't use ur school decision to judge mine as long as I can ask for refund when the need arise I got not fear about that, if augustapplicant and I paid tuition fee it does not. Mean others should pay because not same school and program

newmusic: Land is a tie, stop confusing yourselves. Funds should be in cash or liquid form not a fixed asset.
Anything you are dropping that is not readily available for use is a tie eg, house, land, shares, securities, fixed deposit, company etc.

Funds for school and upkeep is the available cash at hand and at bank, money that is readily available to spend immediately, that is fund.

I am not confusing myself,ur own meaning to landed pro could be diff from mine, I have been able to understand that is a proof of fund, what do u mean by readily available for use? Re u telling me house or land cannot be sold to finance education? I can agree with earthgreener to some extend by saying it serve for both tie and funding, whether fixed asset or not it can be transfered easily when the needs arise.

Don Cipher:
Wht do u mean by student visa charge for int'l students? Tuition fee is diffrnt 4rm Admin fees (which shuld lie in the group of 'Other' after Room & Board in IMM 1294E). CDHC knws wht u're xpcted to pay thru the official fee schedule frm ur univ whc u must hv submited wit ur applictn...Ur receipt 4rm the sch wuld indicate ur compliance of1yr tuition payment. Landed property is nt a proof of funds but tie.
@lft, if u paid thru ur local bank, they shuld hv given u a telex copy of the funds transfer to ur sch; get them to sign it & submit to CDHC, with a letter stating why receipt isn't ready whc u wuld submit once u receive it.

@don cipher, the issue of landed property, I don't think is a tie, it will only add value to ur fund, meaning should any short of fund in the course of pursuing ur program I am willing to sell my plot of land to finance the program.

kennyGGG: Hi All! Enjoy reading

OTTAWA — Canada’s economy could be in trouble if universities don’t start churning out more graduates from all fields of study, including the arts and humanities, says the Association of Universities and Colleges Canada.

“If we think our economy is going to be healthy going forward without a well-educated population, we’re kidding ourselves. It is not going to happen,” said Stephen Toope, AUCC’s chair and the president of the University of British Columbia.

His comments might surprise those who believe today’s job market is flooded with unemployed or under-employed English and history grads.

But both he and AUCC president Paul Davidson contend graduates from those fields, as well as those from science, technology, engineering and math, are and will to continue to be in high demand by employers.

“There seems to be a myth out there that we’ve got enough university grads,” Davidson said Monday during a meeting with the Citizen’s editorial board.

“We actually don’t in this economy. There’s a real appetite for more, and it’s only going to grow more profound over the next 10 years.”

AUCC, which represents more than 90 universities and degree-granting colleges, says employment rates across the entire post-secondary education sector for all graduates, including those who studied arts and humanities, are high, and many are working at jobs that relate to what they studied.

It estimates an additional 2.1 million jobs will be created for university graduates between now and 2020, and also points to Statistics Canada figures showing the net increase in new jobs for university grads between July 2008 and July 2012 was 700,000, compared with 320,000 net new jobs for college grads.

The number of jobs for people with no post-secondary education shrank during the same period.

Although he presides over a prestigious university, Toope said AUCC’s call for more university graduates is less about competition within the post-secondary sector and more about making Canada globally competitive.

The majority of new jobs created in Canada in the coming decade will require some kind of post-secondary credential and he just wants universities to get their share.

“If we just sink all of our investments right now into trades education, we’re going to find five years from now we’re going to have a bunch of people with no projects to work on because no one’s doing the planning, no one’s doing the engineering design, no one’s the entrepreneur that actually creates the opportunities,” he said.

Canada produces fewer graduates from the fields of science, technology, engineering and math than the United States, which itself lags behind Europe and Asia.

“We do have to try to figure out how to encourage students from high school to think about going into science, technology, engineering and mathematics, but that’s not about saying people shouldn’t be doing arts degrees,” Toope said.

“It really does depend on what their capacity is, what their ambition and talents are.”

AUCC also wants Canadian schools to ramp up co-operative education or internship programs, which half of all university students already have access to as part of their program. Such programs are a win-win situation for students who get a taste of a real job in their field and employers who get prime access to prospective employees.

“It’s an incredible eye-opener for students,” Toope said. “Being out in industry actually experiencing what a work environment can actually help concentrate the mind pretty effectively.”

justwise:

They are right to refuse you a visa.

You don't just present a bank statement from a family friend as a sponsor and expected to be given a visa. The question is....is that person capable of sponsoring you? Will that money be available for your use in Canada or just bank statement to get a visa then you travel to Canada without the money?

What does the sponsor do? Does he earn enough to be able to let go that amount of money?

Why does he want to sponsor a distant relative? We are talking about millions here..........these are the questions you should have answered with paper evidences before nursing the feeling of getting a visa.

I think justwise is correct, because from my understanding distant relative might not work because the VO will be thinking that the cash will not be released once the visa is granted, if you has brother/sister, dad/mum it will be better than that of family friend because to start with not same surname.

kelly4top: It isn't true that when you apply for graduate a co-op program, that the Embassy would not issue you a visa. Remember most undergraduate programs in Engineering are coop programs and they get visas. Coop is part of the study program requirement and need no extra work permit. Your study permit has covered it and I know alot who got visas via coop programs. kelly.

We don't need to complicate issues, evrybody wll definitely get visa whether coop or non coop program, depending on the genuine intentions and documents submitted, mind you what work for me might not work for you.

Travel / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Desperate About Travelling Abroad? by efosa12345(m): 7:54am On Sep 23, 2012
justwise: You have a good topic but you killed the whole argument by making some unfounded comments. There is no evidence that diseases in Africa were brought back by Africans visiting from developed countries, there are natural and man-made disasters everywhere in the world including Nigeria, not too long ago some part of Nigeria were flooded and alot of lives were lost, suicide bombing etc.
Your argument is one sided,  there are pros and cons of immigrating to other countries, you can not look at it from the negative perspective alone.

There are pros and cons of immigrating to other countries, u have said it all, he should look at the benefits side of it also, I have equally seen many that travelled abroad and made it.

Just a small corectn, not all course based masters r 1 year, Most r 2 yrs in canada and US, bt sum r 1.
Research based masters is highly competitive in securing admisn cos they normally admit fewer students.
I advise most ppl to apply for course based except u hv a high CGP or sum research experience. dnt just apply for research Masters only. Its putting ur eggs in one basket and coming from a Nigeria undergrad school dnt hv u in d selectn. If u get course based masters, u can switch to research based after 6 months of studies if u r in gud academic standing.
There is another type of masters which to me is d best. Its called Masters (coop). Nt all schools offer it. After sum months of study (like 6months) u will be posted to companies as interns.u work in ur field, u take exams. U don't get to build a project(costly) and submit to school. Additionally, while u work, u get paid and also gather canadian work experience dt will help u secure a job on graduation.
Note- dnt apply for this masters now cos embassy might nt give u visa wit dt, apply for taught, after 6 months, switch frm taught masters to coop masters.
I got a coursemate working wit IBM wit this masters internship prog, imagine how his cv will look like afta d masters.
Also note- d coys select who they want according to their grades, qualificatns and certificatns.

Thanks for the info, what about ebugirl? She have totally forgotten about the oas.
