Now he can't even say if his boys or terrorists bombed the Police Headquarters.

Nigerian police retracts 'suicide bomb' claim

The Associated Press

ABUJA, Nigeria -- Nigerian police say they no longer believe an attack last week on police headquarters was a suicide bomb.

National police spokesman Olusola Amore distributed a statement at a press conference Wednesday "correcting the report about the fact that it is (a) suicide bombing."

The statement said the investigation has not been concluded into the attack in the capital of Abuja that left at least two dead. Amore took no questions and gave no further details.

Police said shortly after Thursday's attack that it was a suicide bomb and said they suspected a radical Muslim sect locally known as Boko Haram. They said the bomber was among the dead.

A man claiming to speak for Boko Haram told the BBC and a local paper it was responsible. He did not say, however, if it was a suicide bomb.

I started this thread, any problem with that?

What do you mean by "abi na bad belle"? Look something is wrong with Mr. President - he is not acting like one. He is not doing anything about the problems facing ordinary Nigerians - He is busy pleasing the PDP gang who are "grabbing and squeezing his balls".

He is standing by to expect the next problem, so that after days of silence he can visit and tell us the worst have not happened - including that bombs are going off like rain elsewhere.

So you don't get it, they want to abandon the investigation. Or spin it. Maybe sack someone. Or pay someone else. Perhaps its one of them.

But simple, if we can be bombed on the most historic day of our history, a large naval ship disappear, the largest cake in the world disappeared here, you accepted a fake election results and called it an Act of God - then this will be swept under as fast as possible. Watin una go do?

Yeah. Soon he will setup a 10 man committee in July, that will advice him on how to setup a 50-women committee come August. In order to review all the panels he had set up in the past and fashion out ways to setup panels next year to gather fresh reports from all the panels the government have set up in the last 12year so that Goodluck can give Nigeria transformation and Fresh Air in 2014!

Oh since the time is not much by 2014, Oga Presido is asking Nigerians to re-elect him in 2015 or extend his term by just 2 yrs so he can bring all these transformation and Fresh Air in place to make Nigeria the world's most powerful country in 2030.

He is setting up another panel as we speak.

" Presidency sets up panel on bomb blasts
By Elor Nkereuwem and Elizabeth Archibong

print   email

The presidency has raised a secret committee to investigate last Thursday's bomb blast which rocked the Police Headquarters in Abuja, killing eight, wounding several others, and destroying 77 cars, a security source said yesterday.

The committee, which had its first sitting at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) at the presidential villa yesterday, will also probe all recent explosions around the country and recommend measures that could be taken to check the spate of bombings.

The development came after the presidency ordered the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, to call off his planned press conference on the bombing scheduled for yesterday morning.

A police spokesperson, Olusola Amore, had said on Monday that Mr Ringim would address journalists to update Nigerians on the progress made in the investigations into the incident.

But a few minutes to the commencement of the event, Mr Ringim was summoned to the presidential villa, first to explain what information he planned to divulge to journalists, and later to be part of a high profile meeting where the decision to set up the inter-agency investigative panel was taken.

At the villa, the national security adviser, Owoeye Azazi, a retired General, reportedly upbraided Mr Ringim for attempting to brief the media on the incident without clearing from him and the president.""

@federalist: na you be the loser.

How many committees and panels have Jonathan setup and what became of them?
- Panel on Jos crises
- Panel to investigate who stole 50 years anniversary money
- Panel to investigate airport run-way contract money
- Panel for investigating second Niger bridge fund
- Panel to investigate Abuja bomb blasts
- One on World cup
- Another for NFF, NFA crisis

So many. Almost every month - anytime there is problem, he will not do a thing, he will setup a panel. What have they done? Who have been prosecuted? What improvement have we seen - Nothing - Yet billions are spent daily.

Hi All,
i think we should give him the element of the doubt. i did not vote for him; i like him but i also feel he's not as strong willed as required. however; this is a democracy - i am willing to give him till end of the year, then we should have a clear cut direction of where we are going.
this room is based on the believe i have that he's someone who likes to take his time - irrespective of what is going on around him; the little i know of Mr president he's not in an hurry to perform so why are we surprisedhuh - we all knew that from day 1!!!.
so 6 months from now is okay. i am assuming he is not willing to hit the ground running; that he has not thought of a team to work with him since the campaign days; that he even does not have a working plan and would require some time to draft it. i am even willing to assume that he's not been in govt. see; i am willing to give him the element of the doubt for 6 months before making up my mind. i wish him and indeed all Nigerians the best of luck. we are in this together; courtesy of democracy  rule of numbers so the earlier we all join hands to make it work the better. lets not criticise him; he daily makes blunders but then he has been doing that before the election so its no longer big deal; lets offer creative advises until he fails consistently to take those advises. nice day

But his performance is not encouraging at all. So I ask "What is wrong with him?". I didnt vote GEJ, so maybe d question wasnt directed at me. But at the risk of being pilloried and insulted, permit me to make my comments:
1. We all seem to have forgotten that Gej's reign started in 2009. So everyone calling for "time" should be mindful of this.
2. We still run d most expensive government in the world. If GEJ doesnt see anything wrong wit that, then we may as well pack shop and go to sleep
3. Isnt it laughable that his cabinet has not been formed, almost one month after handing over power to himself? Is it that difficult, or isnt that part of what should have been considered during his campaigning? If he cant handle such basic duty, should we realistically expect him to fix our problems?
4. Why do we allow ourselves to be fooled dat bombings, killings, riotings etc are problems of a part of this country (the North has always been a convenient scapegoat). Isnt that why we voted GEJ, to guarantee our safety. Why do we join him in blaming the opposition(BUHARI et al), instead of calling on him to act decisively and bring ALL perpetrators to book? Have we forgotten? Goodluck is our president, he's the one that is accountable to us, not Buhari. His is an executive position. Let him use his office and stop being a weakling.
5. There are no longer queues at our petrol stations, but kerosene now costs more than petrol n diesel! Isnt that more important to the average Nigerian?
6. Isnt there something that can be done by the executive arm to stop this apparent sharing of our money by legislators? Increasing their allowances at a time Nigerians are groaning is despicable, isnt it?
7. Power Generation, Arent we tired of talking about this? It's been one excuse after the other, from Obj to Yaradua and now GEJ. Endless empty promises. It's not really rocket science, is it? They all seem to use the same tactic, shifting the goal post.

8. The most important comment I have to make is, Could u just make your points without resulting to insults and name calling on nairaland, pls. Cos if you do, you're really no better than our chair-throwing legislators. This is how it all starts
^Gbam. Thank you mcgboye.

Politics › Pirates Kill Two Policemen In Bayelsa by egift(op): 11:11am On Jun 21, 2011
There were reports on Monday that two policemen had been gunned down by pirates who operated along Ogu creek in Bayelsa State.

Our correspondent gathered that three other police officers were injured in what was described as a surprise attack on the police.

It was learnt that the incident occurred some distance from the Swali waterfront in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased policemen were said to be attached to the Marine Department of the Nigerian Police Force.

The officers were believed to be carrying out a routine patrol of the waterways when the pirates spotted and opened fire on them.

The patrol team, it was gathered, were ambushed by the hoodlums who reportedly did not give their victims room to defend themselves.

The remains of the killed police officers were said to have been deposited at the morgue in the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.

Tell me one newspaper that has criticized him. Internet is the only means left for Nigerians. The Press have eaten and wiped mouth.

He signed the FOI bill
Yes. I give him that. We all know that Buhari will sign that in less than a month in office.

He didn't block Bankole's arrest.
Don't embarrass GEJ by raising that point. Bankole single-handed defied the Nigerian Police Force, while Jonathan himself watched helplessly. And what have happened to the case again huh grin grin

His power sector plan is relatively realistic in its recognition of the need for private sector involvement.
Throw away that gossip. A plan he have been sitting on for over  a year and we are worst for it - while him and his gang are sharing Billions for "feasibility" studies grin

So this is how we are going to leave the goal posts in the pits so that GEJ will be credited with the highest score for doing absolutely nothing?
