Car Talk › Re: Things I Noticed About Nigerians And Their Cars And Driving In Nigeria.. by eherbal(m): 11:41am On Jul 11, 2020
SamuelLoch:
How many car owners did you interact with during your visit to Nigeria?
How many states did you evaluate in the course of your research?
How many cars did you drive to verify your assertions?

By the way, asking just your sister is not enough to generalize your opinion.

I'm not in anyway saying that, "you're wrong..." I can attest to some because I've once had encounter with probably one or two persons but OP, there are many car owners in Nigeria who pamper their cars than anything in their world...
what's the percentage of these owners if I may ask?
Car Talk › Re: Reason Why Mechanics Don't Assist Nigerian If Their Car Stopped Halfway by eherbal(m): 11:27am On Jul 11, 2020
there's this mentality of entitlement with nigerians.they expect everyone to be their brothers keepers hence the situation you found yourself.im not a mechanic, but I have fair knowledge of how vehicle works. when I stop to offer assistance,it's for free.your thank you is a enough for me because we never negotiated anything in the first place.
I've had my car jump started with 1k before by a fellow driver.it was agreed upon before he jumpstarted the car.fair enough, but I won't because of that start charging everyone who needs my help for a jump-start. it's always been pro bono.
so next time sir,let the stranded driver know you're a mechanic (unless you're ashamed of your profession) and negotiate your price and terms before providing your services.

Car Talk › Re: My Corolla Is Consuming Fuel by eherbal(m): 5:13pm On Jun 30, 2020
anyibig:
Thanks chief. I plan to service it every 6months or 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. But the fuel consumption still bothers me anyways, although I use my ac through out my driving, sometimes heater during rainy days. Do you think my fuel consumption is OK?
you're in the clear sir. just ease on the throttle and brakes bro.

anyibig:
Oohh yes... Sorry for the late reply, turns out the fuel I bought from Nnpc in okota Road lagos was rubbish, had to fill my tank again in petrocam again and I got 260miles when the fuel gauge was on empty. My friend said I can still drive it for another 10miles or so, but I don't want to risk damaging my fuel pump by avoiding it pumping dirts from the fuel tank. Also I fill my tank from E-F with ₦6,000 which is like 50ltrs of fuel. Don't know if that's a good fuel economy or I should be worried
you're doing very well bro.no cause for alarm, especially if you're driving under Lagos harsh conditions.dont forget to service your cars with synthetic oil.

How I missed this thread I don’t know. For sure it’s not because I never Kazeemize. In fact the true definition of an Autoist like me is the ability to get home with the vehicle at all cost.

I have many to share once I load my USA hard drive but allow me to just drop this gem.

I removed a bad factory Subaru side draft carburator and replaced it with a Peugeot downdraft carburator. This worked but ended up being too tall and stuck out into the trunk. So I improvised a cover.

Car Talk › 2009/2013 Toyota Corolla Radio Problems.the Proffered Solution by eherbal(op): 5:19pm On May 17, 2020
if you drive a 2009 to 2013 Toyota Corolla, you're likely to come across the radio/ sound system glitches

these are what I experienced

blank display screen during hot weathers

radio audio is on,but no display

non responsive up/down volume

cd player pops out when adjusting aux cable

if it eventually displays, its splashed on the screen like some black paint work

volume control has mind of its own etc.

the solution........grin

just push against the display panel as firmly as possible, voilà,you're online with no more bugs.

this is the only proffered solution I have,if anyone has a better solution, let's hear it.thanks

lets know if it worked for you
