@mr ehisi. Thanks for ur support and info on this thread. Is it possible for an ssc guy to be posted south south in this period of insurgency in the north?
All SSC officers irrespective of discipline are assigned to infantry corps of the Nigerian army. Posting will be a function of vacancy that exist from time to time. You can find yourself anywhere as an infantry officer. You could be assigned to The Nigerian military school, you could find yourself in sudan, Congo, they could even keep you back at NDA for retraining of new soldiers or officers; it depends on where vacancies exist. As far as we know, the current crop of ssc are the major source of bodies for insurgency & peace-keeping related assignment. In my opinion (I stand to be corrected on this one), except you R placed on patrol duty in a sector somewhere, don't expect to be thrown into the field just like that. If you are really meant for this insurgency business, the army will still send you for many more courses outside the normal ssc training before they shove you into the north east (some may even be done in foreign countries like Ukraine, israel etc.). They R not in the habit of throwing rookies in a hot zone so going to the north east shouldn't be an issue...

If them take you, na "Thank God" na e cause am).

Some of una don already know say if navy form come out, una go buy am as far back as march this year. If U go to a stadium or regular gym & put yourself on a 4-6 months program & tell yourself that by the end of it, U go dey lift 100kg barbells with ease (that is 2 bag of rice which is not easy, even 80kg is enough for your Shirt size to change); won't you be looking gallant and packard for D job enough for at least the NCO's on ground to mark you out for senior men to notice you? - at least you have a fighting chance especially when you know say U no get godfather. Its not a guarantee that when U R buff U will make it, its an extra; an added advantage that may come in handy especially when they start handing you physical drills to eliminate some folks.

Do the needful, use that one take beg God make e do e own part too. U will surprised when you go there and meet veteran applicants that have been applying for over 8yrs, gallant & good to go only for some others to submit wawa parade....

He was already on the (painful) process of erasing them during the selection board.
I know a gentleman (he is a lance corporal ) in the airforce who was feeling like a funky bad guy with his tattoo. While he was in training before his POP, one of his coursemate had a tattoo that was visible even with his clothes on (his own was on his upper arm so he wasn't spotted).

When he saw the way they drilled his coursemate, just for having a tattoo; he did not know when he begged some of his friends to help him plug pressing iron and iron out the very skin where the tattoo was until it vanished. He spent a day in the MRS (health centre), after lying that he scrapped his skin during training and got a note excusing him from physical drills for 10 days. His colleague with the tattoo spent 6 weeks in MRS (D guy pass out during the heavy brushing). .......

True. I know someone who is covered in tatoos but who made the final list of those currently in training. Connections go a long way in the navy. The exam is even the least part of everything.
He better not be having tattoos that can be seen when dressed else when he gets to camp for training eventually he would wish he never had them.
EducationRe: University of Ibadan (unibadan)2014/2015 Post-Graduate Application by ehissi(m): 9:16pm On Dec 01, 2014
According to The University, Ibadan. Only those who score 40 and above are qualified to return to their prospective departments to write qualifying examinations for their preferred course. Exams will holding probably by next week - The Specific date will be communicated via email & SMS by the PG Coordinator of your preferred course. Note that this information is strictly for those who seek admission for an academic masters degree programme. Professional Master Degrees on the other hand will be admitted based on their test scores in D English Proficiency test.

It will be wise at this time for those (seeking admission for academic Masters Programme) whose transcripts are yet to arrive the University Ibadan to expedite action. A case in point, The Department of Computer Science of the University, Ibadan received over 400 applications for its academic Masters. At the moment, only 50 slots exists. Meaning the race to eliminate 350 applicants is already on & transcript as well as English test results could be barriers to your admission so act right..........act fast.........act smart

HealthRe: FG Suspends Residency Training!! by ehissi(m): 12:10pm On Aug 17, 2014
drobadebayo: Fortunately residency is not like law school, residents make up the bulk of the doctors workforce in teaching hospitals, they r not just training, they are working.
And there z no where in d world residents pay for residency.maybe in Pluto tho.
If FG is so trustworthy, why are they still on strike?why is ASUU trying to come bk on strike. This FG loves MOUs which they never implement.they signed MOUs in January nd NMA is still on strike because of d same issues. This FG can't be trusted, what NMA is saying is they should start implementing, show some seriousness, not stupid MOUs that ll eventually amount to nothing.
NMA has denied dese purported 90% implementation countless times,u don't expect them to put it every letter,do u
Bottomline is FG is unserious about this issue.
Let me guess!! NMA is serious by sitting at home while ebola is killing folks including one of their own, a female medical doctor who's parents are complaining that she has been left there to die due to lack of attention by who? Serious doctors of D NMA whose president resigned because he couldn't get serious doctors to work and save lives. Minister of health scraps residency all of a sudden doctors finally left home nd R on D streets asking for their jobs back. Guess where they took their protest to? NMA office, if it was a consensus agreement to strike shrbi they woould have gone to Ministry of health office to protest. Come and assist in this ebola menance them say Sam.

All it takes is brainstorming and one well rounded act of legislature. And doctors can be made to pay as well as sign an agreement that can get them barred from D practice is such crap like this repeats itself cause as far as I am concerned these folks R D most greedy, unpatriotic folks I know. My relations a good number of them R doctors, they want to work NMA is threatening them with sanction simply because of their greed. Let them stay at home. Pay for your residncy while consultants supervise or sit as Medical officers or better yet, go abroad and do residency and see how easy it is .......mstchew

Let them wait. Change is coMing.....
HealthRe: FG Suspends Residency Training!! by ehissi(m): 10:30am On Aug 17, 2014
When I see things like this, it reminds me of the battles that led to D formation of ANAN to D chagrin of ICAN which is even now seemingly more relevant than ICAN now. People may wonder how this relates to this issue, let's leave that for a different thread; what I find bizzarre is that the NMA isn't even trying to deny what D federal government said in its letter suspending this residency program; these are as follows:-

1.) That it had implemented up to 90% of what was required by NMA in its lists of demands.

2.) That D doctors where paid salaries as well as all allowances including hazard allowance in full even though they had sat at home for over a month (tell me what hazard can come out of sitting at home on strike) as a measure of good faith. Yet NMA didn't budge on D strike.

3.) Eminent persons where called in by the FG to negotiate on its behalf, yet NMA didn't budge. An excerpt from D suspension letter showing FG's represntatives and D pain of goverment.

"These personalities included the governor of Delta State, the secretary to the government of the federation, members of the National Assembly (especially the Senate and House committees on Heath), the head of the civil service of the federation, chairman of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, the senior special assistant to the president on public affairs, the honourable ministers of health and labour and productivity, the honourable minister of state for health, presidents and registrars of the National Post-graduate Medical College of Nigeria, the West African College of Physicians and West African College of Surgeons, traditional rulers, eminent and senior members of the medical profession, as well as past executives of the NMA.
It should be stressed that the Federal Government has implemented more than 90 percent of its responsibilities as signed by both parties. At the conclusion of each meeting, the NMA promised to call off the strike but would renege." U see how confused NMA is?

4.) D last straw was its president, NMA of course. This is an excerpt on his resignation saga as contained in D
vanguard newspaper.

"FOLLOWING the confusion that trailed conflicting statements regarding the suspension of medical doctors’ 40-day strike, Dr Kayode Obembe has resigned as the national president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Obembe issued a statement on Thursday that the doctors had suspended the strike but he was countered by some officers of the NMA, who insisted that the industrial action was still on.

Dr Kayode Obembe
Reacting to the issue Friday, Obembe, in a statement he entitled: ‘Clarification,’ said: “There has been a request for clarification about the two postings from NMA secretariat on NMA blog. I want to make it categorically clear that I stand by every letter of the document I signed-‘that the strike was suspended.’
And since upon my integrity and honour, I cannot continue to drive the doctrine that ‘strike continues,’ I hereby tender my letter of resignation as NMA president. What I have written, I have written.” "

The past NMA president called off D strike in D wake of D ebola outbreak, NMA merchant doctors said no way so D president for D sake of his own integrity as a medical doctor resigned, NMA Merchant doctors say make them die if we don't get all we want and more. FG gives U 90% and even pays U full pay with hazard allowance isn't enough for U to stop D strike while negotiation goes on as to when D rest 10% go show. Greedy folks

This is enough to signify that D NMA has run outta control; despite the Presidential declaration of a National Public Health Emergency on Ebola Disease which had united the entire country in the efforts to contain the disease, the NMA who should take leadership role in the fight against Ebola disease is now the most unsupportive.

All efforts by Government to contain this disease are being frustrated by the continued industrial strike action of the NMA.

Also realise that govt simply suspended the program not scrap it. So for those who think its not possible constitutionally, think again. Buhari tried to scrap it in D 80% not suspend that D difference between what happened in D 80's and now.

I pray that this action by government will pave D way for other medical and life scientist to create a parallel bodies that will ensure D protection of lives because NMA is selling off its members as a bunch of merchant doctors who know nothing of the hippocrites oath.

One thing anyone who is willing to be frank will take away from this strike and other forms of industrial action by Labour unions is that they always strike about D conditions of service of their members and not D quality of service. D rationale being that when D condition of service of their member is improved automatically D quality of service will improve but this is false.

Labour Unions/Professional bodies will never strike nor suggest ways through ïndustrial actions that will improve quality of service because actual quality of service delivery is their responsiblity (Goodluck can only send what they need he won't administer it) and it will affect close to 75% of it members and that will pit them against their fellows. U will see even if government gives them all they want, D medical services of government won't improve and if U ask NMA that is calling itself a body of professionals they will still blame it on government as if president Jonathan or his wife are at fault inspite all D power and recognition they have from FG to make changes and recommendations all they want is less working hours and more money.

Let them be paying for it like D way law students pay for law school and let FG setup parallel bodies that will protect D interest of service delivery of others in D industry including D recipients of such service and FG should take D bull by D horns in handling it medical services that way Nigerian medical services in D country will improve. God bless Nigeria

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Army DSSC and SSC 2014 Aspirants by ehissi(m): 12:55am On Aug 13, 2014
Generaloluseye: @ ehisi. Let me begin by saying that the politics of recruitment does not take the place of merit inthe US army or other advanced militaries. In the west point academy, which is our equivalent of NDA. U are nominated by the president or senator or u re the child of a veteran. If don't ve this opportunity, u ll ve to be a graduate to join the military. And u can get to the highest position in the military unlike in the nigerian military where they segregate btw short service and NDA. General Collins Powell is an example of someone who got in as a graduate. The rule should be made clear. Why should u sell form to pple when u know that they ve no chance of being recruited. Why not tell us hat pple who ve no sponsor should not bother to apply? What they did is fraud of the highest order to sell form to someone and the person was not called for interview. If they know the pple they need is 1200 and the slots has been distributed, why call for pple to apply?.......
And how many Americans know a senator or r buddies with obamaor have parents who R veterans? Lemme guess all 250million Americans right. If we do that here U will call it balled out injustice and unfairness. And that to you doesn't seem like an unfair consideration? U have to be a senators candidate to go to westpoint. Imagine U had to be picked by the president or a senator before U go to NDA or your father must be a personnel servig or retired for U to go to NDA what will nigerians say?

Bit confused about your last line of comment. Was D army supposed to advertise and then tell folks not to apply because they want only 1200? Am still not getting you. Even if application was free folks will still complain. In any case congrats whatever ya category.....
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Army DSSC and SSC 2014 Aspirants by ehissi(m):
@Ironben.........Let us just assume for D sake of me making a point that fairness was actually involved; R U expecting D army to just allow over 20,000 persons if not more to be hosted all at once for an interview (like D nigerian immigration service did) just so U can feel that D process was fair. Clearly they wanna host no more than 2000 persons in 2 venues, there is no way that it will be done that some persons may not doubt D process, even in D UK; or are U telling me that Prince William who is in Her majesties royal airforce was qualified for military service based on merit alone? Or R there not British folks who R less pumpous, well mannered and less arrogant than he to serve in the Airforce. If he didn't have blue blood in his
Veins by now he would have been deranked if not decommissioned given his conduct there over D last 2yrs; and that is who is now an ambulance pilot. A person who drinks like a fish drinks water na e dey do pilot for medical air ambulance(mind U this isn't Nigeria oh that we hail as D most corrupt in D world, this is D UK we are talking about hia so leave matter).

There must be some element of considerations besides merit no matter how "uncorrupt" D process maybe, which ever category U may belong to accept my congratulations.

If it will lift your spirits any higher that rumour about more people to be recruited/shortlisted in a Second list is all over the place.

........................My Analysis/Opinion.....................
In my opinion, they need far more than they shortlisted and given the current life expectancy of officers now, it is in order. Logically it makes a lot of sense to do so and thats why I feel some people dared to raise it, logistically, financially and practically it makes no sense because D losers will insist that D second batch were "godfathered" into D service, also Chief of Defence Staff will have a hard time making sense of it all to D minister of defence (not to talk of D C-in-C) or even senate when he seeks for funds; not to mention that other armed forces chiefs will take a cue from that and double their recruitment as well afterall D navy and D airforce lose people to boko haram conflict. Where will they house them, accomodation is becoming a serious issue for armed force personnel, how would they feed them, do they even have sound arms/ammo (not all those old FN FAL whey they jam once boko haram surface, when everywhere dey calm rifle go fire, when boko boys show dey issue rapid fire, D rifle self go fear dey hang, e no go gree fire again).

If I did D Maths right, they shortlisted 1204 persons altogether and they will still remove like almost half that figure. That exact amount of officers alone will get swallowed up in Jos between division 3 and STF and they will still need more not to talk of less of that amount spread across D south-south and north-east
.............................End of Opinion.........................

The moral of this long story, which ever is your case accept my congratulations.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......what a trend. I have watched this thread rise from 35 pages to 46 in less than 36hrs. Reason? The list is out. A lot of folks aren't on it, those that R on D list thank God. Those that aren't wonder when corruption will cease and when meritocracy will start (a clear sign that they already knew that D shortlisting is an underground spiritual game tht has some measure of UNfairness attached).

Some of those who aren't on the list lament for unfairness. Those on it (in time to come will) lament for unfairness when they don't make D final cut. Those who do make D final cut (in time to come will still) lament the unnecessary downright barbaric conditions of training and will in turn lament D corruption they think exists in D system (a sign that they had no idea what they bargained for when they picked D form). These and lots more R D reasons why no agency gives scholarship into D military or paramilitary agencies; na U go use your money buy D form make e no be like say them force U come. Na U buy am so U must serve am.

To those on D list, congrats and hope U make D final cut.

To those not on D list congrats, U have quite a long way before Navy and airforce forms shows up so keep doing your pushups and maintain your early mornig and weekend jogging routine, keep punching those bags and don't forget your swimming sessions.

To those who have finally given up hope applying to join these our Nigerian armed forces congrats, U have just changed to a new calling
For those who mourn this change, take heart and may D good Lord give U zeal again for something new that will comfort U and not elude U like short service shortlisting!!!.............

Generaloluseye: 4 million naira a month is good money oh. How many salary earners earns that in Nigeria? However it may not be the general that ll collect the money, it may be his boys that ll do everything ab initio. Someone i know paid over 500k to enter the police cadet as a graduate but was unable to enter despite the fact that he was a serving personnel.......
That type of pay is at the level of executive management. I know a well read fellow (he had his Ph d from a university france in engineering) who was offered #1.5 million naira as a director with MTN Nigeria; the gentleman had bigger plans so he refused. Before a relation of mine was going to retire from chevron ; his total take home pay was a million a month (excluding allowances and all what not); diageo (I believe they are D owners and sole managers of D guiness brand) is another heavy tipper; generally anybody U find in the 7 figure salary range is an executive in such a firm/establishment; that is for sure.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Army DSSC and SSC 2014 Aspirants by ehissi(m):
Generaloluseye: My heart bleeds by the day anytime i hear what our present youths say. An example is the case of the nigerian army dssc/ssc which lots of us ve applied for. We are only thinking of a job that can pay us and not what we can contribute to the system. Are we going to be the extension of the corruption that is endemic in the system or we are going to say it is time for a change? Major kaduna nzeogwu, ifeajuna et al were around 30 yrs old when they decided that it was time for a change. The counter coup which ws led by muritala was done by guys less than 30. This pple felt the need for a change and decided to take action but herein our generation, what we think about is diff. To be contd as we wait for the list
They say different strokes for different folks. I believe personally that D January Coup of 1966 (a plot which thickened from august of 1965) was spurned by corruption sponsored by greed for power. They simply took advantage of the call of parliament to the military to safeguard Nigerians after the violence that followed in the wake of elections which was massively rigged particularly in the south west (when lagos was the capital) and nationwide; we lost over 2000 civilians to that violence.

The coup plotters
Major KC Nzeogwu (Chief instructor, NMTC Kaduna)-Intelligence/Infantry Corp and the first officer to ever be trained in military intelligence
Major Ifeajuna - Signals/Infantry Corps
Major Anuforo (RECCE Battallion)
Major Ademoyega (The last direct short service officer to be deployed into the infantry corps directly)
Major Okafor (Infantry)

All were involved in a bloody coup that killed senior military as well as political office holders but the death tolled eventually suggests that Major Ademoyega was used as there was no record of a major figure from the eastern region killed and categorically the easterners (as they were called of old) had a very bad reputation for always wanting to dominate any environment they found themselves in whether by hook or by crook (it was actually urban legend back then that they were cannibals and it was appetite for human flesh that sometimes sparked that attitude - a legend that was debunked largely in part by the NYSC program which is one of Gen Gowon's achievements).

The Northern region suffered D highest number of casualties in government in D first coup; it was strange because prior to this time D igbo were holding highest attainable offices everywhere in government - The president Azikiwe was igbo, the highest officers in the 3 armed forces were from eastern region and also lots of senior officers and soldiers were from eastern region, even in D north at one time (before the northernisation policy of the north meant to tackle youth unemployment in D north - a policy set in motion by northern premier, Northern region Sir Ahmadu Bello) even top labour leaders/workers in D northern region were igbo.

But Major Ademoyega insists otherwise (that D coup wasn't an ethnic one) as he was detained in the east and subsequently released by Ojukwu on Major Nzeogwu counsel. He fought on the biafran side during the civil war.

In my opinion, taking a close look at the facts on ground, U will find that 2 regimes that not only have international acclaim but also seemed to have the best record on almost every side in order of descending acclaim (locally and internationally) was
Gowon's regime after which U have
Gen Obasanjo. The only thing that spoilt Gowon's case was that he refused to hand over power to civilians on the grounds that he felt Nigeria wasn't ready for it yet (which was true but it was not his decision to make). And Gen Obasanjo for handing over power to civilians with no strings attached.

But the best and most popular of them all in its time (but received no form of international acclaim because he chose a foreign policy of non-alignment which made him very difficult to do "business as usual" with even though he was hausa) was
The late Gen Muritala Mohammed. He was Nigeria's favourite head of state till date.

When he entered power he sacked all senior and key figures in Nigeria from governors, IGP, Senior military officers outside the Supreme military council; he set a decree that made it mandatory for government officials to keep a low profile in terms of lifestyle, he even ruled Nigeria from his personal house and not the official quarters of Dodan barracks. But that was also his undoing, he was assasinated easily because he chose to move around without bodyguards. He was the exact person buhari was trying to emulate (the only difference was that he had a far human rights record than buhari can ever had and he didn't blackout the press) -though the real Spirit behind the anti-corruption campaign of Gen Buhari's regime was Gen Tunde Idiagbon and not buhari..............

Hmmmmmmmmm................ All these cash figures flying around on Naira over recruitment makes me SOURCE-P (or is it SOURCE-P-TIOUS).

What hapin when folks who pay for such at D end of the day don't get it nko? Can they get a refund?

Let no man deceive U. Anyone who is probably in a position to help U doesn't need to collect a dime from U. If it is a general U R forwarding your name to; below D rank of general (he/she may need cash from U, in which case he/she isn't helping U. U R helping yourselves and even at that it isn't guaranteed because na generals dey sit over boards). In any case after the whole exercise, D board will submit D final list to military secretary (I believe that should be Maj. General Wahab, by the way how much can U give him? That man is collecting nothing less than #4m a month. Is it your lousy #400k that he will be killing himself for to help someone he doesn't know that may put him in trouble later?). Military secretary will put it on Oga's table for onward approval. If COAS now strike out your name for D sake of his own candidate nko? What will U do?

Of which your name can still get pushed out before final publishing or even mid-training if they discover someone who wasn't proper listed got enlisted and there is nothing more painful than that.
To go to camp and then after some 3months of hunching, skull crushing, wheeling and downright brutalisation they kick U outta camp.

Whoever wants to really help U, will have it as a thing of pride that U R his personal boy even after he/she leaves the armed forces and U too will be proud that U have him as a Godfather (if he is still in D service after U R commissioned & R serving).

In any case, if your Godfather calls U after U join and say U have not paid homage to him even though he brought U in D service, what is 400k? On a good day, if U have future problems, U will want to call him so except U R a spineless, brainless fool; Armed forces day, senior officers retreat, his/her birthday, burial etc anything U know D man is doing U will mark register with something so he can be remembering U & have your number so that in case (he is still in D service and has a major appointment he can carry U with him) or U need a lifeline U can call him and escape from any bagger lizard that is trying to put sand inside your garri................enough said

azidomedogo: Breaking News:
An Air warrant Officer(AWO) was given a direct commission to a Squadron leader in the airforce last week.I saw the PT 2 ORDER.This as never happened in the history of NAF.His outstanding performance in the service changed his destiny. No Dssc Officers training,no nothing. It was direct from the CDS and CAS. wonders shall never end.
Hmmmmmmm..........Really? I am just hearing of this for the first time. However, this is not unusual in the Nigerian armed forces, what may be unusual is that it happened in D airforce (trust me, the airforce R very very stingy when it comes to such stuff). It falls under a category of commissions we call "executive commission". The basic requirement is just minimum of 15yrs of experience on the job, a proven track record and existing matching vacancy with your trade or discipline.

It an honour well deserved for many reasons!!! (prospective NAF DSSC's pay attention).

AWO's (Air warrant officers) in reality, command more respect and make more money than a squadron leader can ever imagine (I will explain why but first a background story to paint a picture of a military environment for U).

Every unit aside from units that we call direct reporting unit (DRU's) that report directly to NAF HQ in abuja like PMG (Personnel management Group), AFIT (Airforce institute of technology), PAG (Pay and accounting group), PAF (presidential air fleet), NADC etc. report through a command which is under an AOC (Air officer commanding with the rank of air-vice marshal) and there are 4 of them (Logistic command- Ikeja, Tactical command- Markurdi, Training command- Kaduna, Mobility command-Bayelsa). These commands can give support to DRU's and usually DRU commanders are headed by people who may be junior to AOC's but they report to NAF HQ directly

Now aside from the DRU's, all report to chief of air staff via their various command HQ's. This also means that every unit is either a DRU or a training command unit, a logistics command unit, a mobility command unit or a tactical command unit (tactical command is for air tactics and warfare, mobility is for airlifting, training command is for training and education, logistics for logistics and general support).

Now here is the point, all Units have an RSM (regimental sergeant Major) who is in charge of all the airmen/soldiers in every unit.

An RSM is an appointment issued from NAF HQ Abuja and only an AOC (minimum) can charge/court martial an RSM, at best if U commit an offence as an RSM (that is even if an RSM can ever be said to commit an offence) the best your commander can do is write to NAF HQ Abuja through your AOC or as a DRU U write direct to NAF HQ Abuja and then they will summon D RSM for query or transfer or just outright courtmartial (which is very rare); by rank an RSM must be a SNCO (senior non-commissioned officer which starts from the rank of sergeant- AWO) but for now for its just Warrant Officers and above.

Now, all D RSM's in the various units under a command report to D AWO at their respective HQ Commands, e.g. all the RSM's in D various training units in Nigeria under the Training command in kaduna report to D AWO in HQ Training command kaduna; the same applies for all D other commands as well. As an AWO U R entitled to an escort -hilux jeep with armed soldiers to follow and guard U- as well as an official car with a driver, U have direct access to D chief of air staff himself as well as your AOC at all times and when U retire that hilux follows U home.

In Nigeria now, there are only 7 AWO's. one in NDA, one in NAF HQ, 4 in D various command and I think one in D villa (am not very sure of this last AWO but I know they are 7 altogether).

Now airforce will gladly give executive commission to AWO's to the rank of flying officer but given the D background i just gave that is an insult, even for the D fellow to take squadron leader goooooooon; Hmmmmmmm....... Chief of air staff will have to call him, personally beg him and give him a lot of assurances before he will take it. Air warrant officer is the highest possible rank attainable for an airman after MWO master warrant officer and no AWO will never agree to executive commission except U beg seriously!!!! WO's may take, no MWO or AWO will take it.

Usually executive commission officers R not allowed to proceed beyond wing-commander in the Airforce (that lit-colonel in the army), but executive commission to squadron leader isnt desirable for AWO's either. But given that as a squadron leader he is a senior officer it is understandable. Also if he retires, he takes home a pension package both as a AWO and as a retired commissioned officer so it not bad after all but i am surprised it ever happened at that rank, in the Nigeria airforce for that matter; those folks stingy with rank mehn...........

It is not impossible that training was going on when that airforce aircraft crashed, freak accidents have been known to happen from time to time (even for new airplanes maiden flight) not to talk of old planes.

The challenge is that some of U have no idea of D workplace ethic of a military or regimental environment.
Do you think Director of Defence public relations will do/say anything to D public without running it by his superiors at DHQ?

How do U know that he wasn't ordered to say what he said about D crash?

So if U R Major general Kolade (a 2 star general) & Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (who is in charge of Defence HQ as chief of defence staff & is a four star general & can have U sent to your village immediately on retirement) asks U to say "XYZ"; U will tell him "it is senseless"?

E be like say una never see/hear where one or two star general dey double or them dey wheel them down if them dey carry shoulder where senior men dey vex?

D immediate past GOC Division 7(Aka D butcher) that escaped a mutiny when soldiers fired on him; gave an action plan that would involve his soldiers going through a path that was strongly advised against by D RSM because of D terrain (which was straight up hostile territory) and that area was not on their itinerary for operation. But U see in D military, an order is an order (funny enough he wasn't familiar with D terrain as D soldiers were), and they obey his orders & eventually where almost all wiped out. When he heard of it, he came to see things for himself & that when D soldiers opened fire on him.

In any case, D crash site may not necessarily be where D plane or helicopter starts losing altitude for any reason. It could be it was a freak accident, or shot down but note it is very much allowed for training manuovers or exercises to be conducted in a hostile region (both locally & internationally)

D morale of this story........D military is ruled by orders & interactions with D public R done with careful consultation with superiors else if it turns out bad later; U don buy job be that especially for sensitive issues like BH.

DrCaleb: Yes. It will be granted
Thanks for your sincere candid opinion but D person who provoked that question said "He stood to be challenged" that why I raised D questions; 3 of them to be exact so that I can understand what inspired his confidence to suggest that it is impossible to make that trade cross.

I guess he probably was using D timeline it take to study Medicine as a doctor to judge forgetting that other courses offered by D medical profession has a shorter time-line. I am still awaiting his mature & professional response.

U can't move frm infantry to medical .lai lai,
No matter d change of course or trade.
Once u ar in d combantant ,dere u are.
NA doesn't work dat way,I stand to b challenged
Changing frm combantant to medical with change of course or trade is a no go area and nt possible, ask dos in d system.
Ur initial first 2 lines of response suggests that change of trade is possible at all so I will not waste my time to start quoting Armed forces Law for U on D matter; so I will ask U direct questions (as though I am speaking with an armed force personnel nd not a civilian).

What R D requirements & Conditions for change of trade in D Nigerian armed forces (give us D "standard" as well as D "general idea"wink?

What department is responsible for handling change of corps in D armed forces & on whose discretion & recommendation R such changes made?

If an officer in D infantry (joined as an engineer or a biochemist) and apply for a grant or permission from his commander to go and do a course in Nigerian army school of nursing yaba & gains permission & completes D course as a military nurse & then turns around afterwards & takes D nursing degree & use it to apply for a change of trade to D medical corps from infantry crops will it be granted yes or no?

DrCaleb: To those who know much about the Nigerian army, can an officer who applied via the SSC process switch to the DSSC in d course of d militry service. Is there any lawyer, Accountant, Doctor in the house that applied for SSC?
Not possible. What U can do is change Corps or trade. What that just means in effect is that if U do get in via SSC, U will probably be in either armoury, infantry or ordnance corps, U could take a course and apply for what we call a change of trade which will allow U to be moved from either of the three mentioned corp to another corps say like engineering, pay or even medical.
