ayxmania:It could be because there is a stipulated deadline for applications!! If after the deadline to send your application to use the old EPT result is exceeded then you must pay in full and rewrite |
fab7:@Ayxmania........In the last admission process of which I benefited from, it was used!! If you scored 45% and above in the English test during the course of last year admissions tes; you were allowed to use it; also the cost of the english test is to be removed from the breakdown. The real question is if UI will repeat the same process this year? Also you are to notify the PG school via application letter of your intention to reuse your old English result before you can do so (talking based on how it was done during the 2014/15 admission process)!! My advice will be for you to approach PG school and go to room C4 and acquaint yourself with the proper procedure!! UI will make money from students in many more ways than you can imagine both during the admissions process and after; besides student doing academic Masters programs (which is different from professional Masters) do 2 exams the cost of which is included in the breakdown; whether you do EPT or use old result, you will still pay UI for it; I think exemption from english test means the cost of english test in the total breakdown cost is removed - I believe it should be around either #1,000 -#2,500 thereabout!!! |
But the Nigerian Navy can be so sluggish!!! The Nigerian Airforce graduated course 23 in September 2013 and navy is just recruiting; little wonder they all decided to train cadets seperately!! I wonder !!! |
@Ilade/SensualMan/Saintjoel......... I am not much of a fan of SaintJoel seeing that I had 2 deals I wanted to run by him and he bungled them by not handing me vital info as when it was required (even though I gave him notice prior to the time) but SensualMan has not denied certain things that saintjoel has said (of which, you brought the issue to Nairaland and not saintjoel which is a sign that you are still upset/bitter about it! My advice? Take heart) 1.) That U bargained for the car yourself!! U don't know that side of town better than Saintjoel and since its on his advice you went there; shebi U would have insisted that he followed you to make sure you get the best of what U seek? 2.) That you were suspicious of him from the beginning!!! if not; in a place where you don't speak the indigenious language and you went to make a purchase, why did you go and change money by yourself!!! Especially when the person is practically your host in terms of the fact that he made arrangements for your trip, where you would stay etc.3.) You Ignored his advice!!! He insists that, he based on his expertise, adviced that you take something else but you refused and said that you were still willing to take that particular ride against his advice (even when you clearly couldn't afford it on the spot)!! If you read in a thread online somewhere that someone was guiding folks to make purchases and will clear the purchases for you, will also assist in hotel reservations and advice on exchange rate and cash transfers as well as assist in delivering the car!! Is it not to give the person the benefit of a doubt; travel, get there and wait for the person's counsel (at least it is the counsel that made you go to cotonou in the first place to meet him there) before you take any action!! Instead you chose to change cash without consulting him; you even bargained for the car ni in his absence, you insisted you will take a car against his advice (even when you couldn't pay for it there and then) and then at the end you weren't satisfied you prefer to advice others to ignore his services!!?? Of which Saintjoel is insisting that you didn't state that it was precisely XLS you wanted so he just gave price for basic model hence the initial price difference between what you wanted and what you eventually saw on ground in terms of price!!! Habaaaa!! I sense that you were not exactly patient with the fellow! Plus you were to overly suspicious!! Else the critical things in this transaction process is cash (buying cefas and to buy the car and to pay for clearance/duty as well as to pay driver delivery) and actual inspection and bargaining of which you ignored his advice on these 2 areas!! On saintjoel side (though I wouldn't blame him too much because life is precious); it would appear as though you were too much in a hurry to close the deal especially since home delivery was involved and given what your driver went through the last time he was shot, coupled with the fact that Oga was already showing sign that money done dey finish; you topped up so the car could be cleared early and weren't able to notice the glass already losing strength!!! Much of what he is complaining about are things that could have easily been resolved offline if everybody was not in a hurry to get rid of each other fast and everyone was communicating freely without suspicion!!! At least let other Nairalanders learn from una 2!! U wan buy car through person, cool down and allow the person to handle matters properly; that way if it goes sour, you will know that you gave dealer/Agent the benefit of a doubt and he messed up!!! Chikena.....#MyOwnTenKobo |
It is articles like this that make me wonder if APC as a party has 2 mouths or chooses selective amnesia when dealing with issues that affect governance .....Please read thoroughly and provide objectice criticism as a Nigerian (Whether you are APC, OPC, PDP or MP3 Fan -Mega Peoples Political Party an actual political party in lagos). This is the attitude of someone who is a member of the Buharis TC that is shouting blue murder in Abuja!! During the elections, it was reported in the punch news that for 30minutes, thugs from his own constituency engaged in a shootout with a convoy of corps Members guarded by Military Police and army soldiers as they tried to grab election Materials (Imagine if GEJ had listened to the APC - that went to the court to obtain an injunction/Order to restrain the military from providing security during the polls- what would have been the fate of our precious NYSC members) Like I said, read as Nigerians and comment/criticise Objectively in light of the topic of this thread http://www.punchng.com/news/were-ready-to-hand-over-on-may-29-amaechi/ |
CaptainGeneral1:This has never happened in the History of Nigeria's Military!! 2nd Lieutenant Lieutenant Captain. <------------- Major Lieutenant Colonel Colonel Brigadier General. <------------- Major General Lieutenant General General Looking at how many ranks you have to jump to achieve this, not counting courses U would have to do Junoir div, senior div, professional corps courses!! Haba!! It will cause unnecessary rancour; no one will want that. Even if a service Chief did that, the next incoming chief will reverse it (Don't believe me, ask Nuhu ribadu who jumped just one rank what happened to him later) That kind of jump can only happened from Colonel Upwards (where U can be considered for promotion just after 6mths or 9mths or a year on a rank) below that rank; it is usually impossible for such a jump to happen........... |
Jtmanager:On the contrary U may not!! She has probably done something U may not appreciate; The bible records that "A fool says alll that is in his heart" and that my friend is what luv can do, make you seemingly "foolish" especially when the object of affection is around. Dunno who U R or who she is or what U guys both do for a living. Its possible she wants to settle down soon with the first person her hearts beat for and avoid the suspense/possiblity of a Casual relationship or she looks at you and is not seeing the relationship having a very serious and promising future. U honestly find out what you want and tell and leave the rst. Its possible she luv U die already but finds U unserious.......It depends on the pecularities of U guys........#MyTenKobo |
I want to first of all say that I am a fan of Goodluck Jonathan (not the PDP) even though I know his administration is not without flaws; I want to also say that I am a Nigerian by birth, as well as a realist by Practice so as much as tensions may rise or sentiments may be tenderly stroke by my comments (Especially by "Some" fans of GMB I've come across who don't have any practical/sound reason for voting him aside from the fact that they hate Goodluck'/PDP's rule and are probably revelling in D pride of voting out a government - without considering that Goodluck chose personally not to go the way of OBJ and "Win" in a do or die fashion -Something I believe Buhari won't do- ) I will still proceed with it........... I don't see anything that suggests parallel governance directly, (except there are some things that President Goodluck Govt doesn't want to go into over the Media with Buhari's TC to avoid overheating the polity or to avoid looking like sore a loser; or like some Nairalanders R already suggesting that GEJ doesn't want to handover). In my own Opinion the Job of a Transition Committee, TC, is to ensure smooth change of Government. TC is not the government, and is not in a position to make demands on Mr President outside the mandate of smooth transition (and even this is by discretion and not law).................. Please without sentiments, look at 2 of the Transition's Committee's terms of reference closely "e. Suggest “quick fixes” which will result in tangible, visible and practical measures so that CHANGE will be seen after 30 days, after 100 days, after 6 months of the Administration taking office............ g. Report back to the President-elect in two weeks." What has this question got to do with transition? Is it the Goodluck administration that will "suggest" the Changes U promised during election campaign? GMB is not yet president till he is sworn-in and is not in a position to make demands nor demand reports; abi is GEJ now his Minister?....................... Lets assume this was a friendly/harmless and innocent/honest question/mistake made by members of the Buhari TC who may have no experience in Executive governance - just like Buhari's Aide's tried to place a press ban on AIT in error based on security/ethical concerns- !!! Let's look at something else that makes me feel tempted to think that Buhari - given his Military background and tenure as former head of state- wasn't aware of his transition's committee's demands......................A look at the terms of reference shows two terms label C (Probably an error in copying and paste); let's look at what the second C says......And please without sentiments........ "c. Under-take a preliminary assessment of the security challenges facing the country and the (1). Counter-insurgency measures taken by the government thus far. (2). Counter policy measures being implemented in the Niger Delta to deal with unrest and major economic crimes in the area. In particular, the status of the Amnesty Programme. (3). Readiness of the Police and other national security and intelligence agencies in addressing threats to law and order" Please, what has this got to do with Transition!!?? Where is the Buhari's Transition Committee within the framework of the 1999 constitution that will warrant the Govt/Presidency on ground, to be discussing security matters at the Highest level to non-entities (with due respect to the constitution, the same one that determined the rule by which U contested elections and were declared winner)..................... The Job of the outgoing Administration in ensuring Smooth transition (which is not defined anywhere in Law really but its just basic practice guided by common sense) is to ensure that handover notes are prepared before swearing-in. It is the Job of the In-coming administration to make assessments concerning readiness or otherwise based on the review of the handover notes of each Minister/Cabinet member/outgoing administration (and even this is done right after they R sworn-in). The New president's first Job after addressing the Nation is to demand for handover notes on his table within 2weeks (if he is lenient 3months and then thereafter dissolve cabinet and re-appoint ministers with support from the senate to fill up his cabinet); This is done after he is sworn-in, he doesn't have right to ask for anything because he is not president till he sworn-in (This is the Standard practice everywhere in the world in established democracies)............. So U can see why the demand of Buhari's TC suggests parallel governance indirectly, as the demand made by GMB's TC is typical of a president right after swearing in and assumption of office; in any case, is it 2 weeks that you use to prepare handover notes and assessment for an entire cabinet? This is why some folks prefer to look at some APC party members as just trying to forment/promote Post-election blues and politics of bitterness I observed the last time Obama was asked what the US government was planning to do concerning certain security threats in the Middle east in a sensitive way, he started his answer thus "As President, I am not accustomed to discussing security matters in a room filled with a bunch of people....." I have no problems with The "Terms of Reference" from Letter A to the first C as that is typical of a transition committee; My problem is with the Second C down to the end. If I receive this as a minister in a cabinet from a "President-elect", I will go to my President, confirm if he is aware and respectfully decline.................................................Please carefully look once more at items in the terms of reference labelled second C down to the end and understand my logic and U will see that D TC is just either naïve or just trying to provoke the Cabinet on ground in continuation of the election hostilities; what has these points got to do with a transition for the love of truth and sincerity?............. (3). Readiness of the Police and other national security and intelligence agencies in addressing threats to law and order d. Provide a brief over-view of CBN, NNPC, NCC, Customs and FIRS. e. Suggest “quick fixes” which will result in tangible, visible and practical measures so that CHANGE will be seen after 30 days, after 100 days, after 6 months of the Administration taking office. f. Make any other observations which in view of the Committee would be helpful to the transition and take-off of the new Administration. g. Report back to the President-elect in two weeks." I rest my case........... |
purest21:SSC is a Combatant Short Service Commission (formerly known as Short Regular Commission, SRC) that is meant for those interested in field Operations AKA War or peace-keeping or Combat Operations (U assume the rank of second Lieutenant in the army -*- and R usually fielded into fielded into Infantry Corps of the Nigerian army after 9mths - 12mths of training); after 18mths - 2yrs U receive your first promotion to Lieutenant -**- and your subsequent promotions are 4years a rank or as vacancies/slots arise. When U achieve your 6th Year (Usually when U R or awaiting to assume the rank of Captain -***-), U will have the option to retire or convert to Regular commission after a physical exercise; U will receive 2 chances each year to pass this after which at your third fail U will go on compulsory retirement. N.B;- NDA graduates R on Regular Commission by default; This grants them automatic right to hold any appointment anywhere in the armed forces; a right SSC may share if God, age and politics is on your side. DSSC is Direct Short Service Commission and is meant for professional Officers interested purely in administrative functions of the army (U will assume the rank of Lieutenant -**- after training and will be fielded into any of the Corps where vacancies exist for your discipline after 6-7mths of training). Your First 2 ranks will be achieved after 5years of promotion each. In your 10th year, you will have the option of retiring or convert to Direct Regular Commission which will involve mainly just a medical exam and filling a couple of documents after which U will be deemed converted and subsequent promotion will be achieved on a 4year basis a rank or as vacancy/slots exists N.B;- Direct regular Commission legally can achieve any rank except the APEX rank in each armed forces; In the case of army Lieutenant General. However they cannot hold any Major appointment that demand control of combatant troops, unfortunately most of these appointments R usually assigned to Brigadier or Major Generals (a rank that usually has very limited slots/vacancy for occupancy compared to number of officers qualified to filled them) so most times in the past, DRC don't usually proceed after the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel - though this trend is fast changing as DRC now achieve the rank of Brigadier General even Major General, thanks to Democracy...... A B. ed can go for DSSC if there is vacancy in the Education Corps only beyond that no hope; a B. ed can go for SSC as what U read doesn't matter everybody will just face Infantry (The Combat land troops department of the army). Education Corps is for teachers and staff of Military school and military institutes, Infantry is war, peacekeeping and training for other combatant troops.... Yes a B.Ed can go for all armed forces but only army has SSC the rest have only DSSC..... Jets and Crafts/Vessel is exclusively for NDA graduates and not DSSC Special forces R members of the armed forces trained for specific field OPS (for Now boko Haram & counter insurgency is the core of all Special forces training course menu) Airforce has QRF (Quick response force), Army has CTU (Counter terrorism Unit).......... Military reserve R meant for Mass recruitment/re-engagement into the armed forces in the event that the armed forces or the Nation is overwhelmed by a foreign or local threat. Retired officers fit the profile, also Civil defence and other paramilitary bodies can be conscripted in the event of a General state of emergency........... Pistols R meant specifically for commandants/Commanders/Service Chiefs or as occasion demands. Usually the culture is for your Aides to carry arms for U as a very senior officer; a very senior officer or a commander will only agree to carry in the event that his unit is on Military alert (by this time every personnel will be on camouflage only all day of the week instead of switching between other variants of their uniforms)...... Usually for SSC in recent times, 30years is the maximum and 26 is the minimum but if U R younger and have your first degree U will be accepted. DSSC for army and airforce is minimum 26 to 35 maximum but even if U R younger with a first degree U R welcome. Navy insists on maximum of 30yrs and younger with first degree for DSSC....... Army, Navy, Air force is anyone's choice. Army is a place people R wary of because they have a tradition of promoting at a slower rate than others (though that is changing now), Air force is a place deemed better than army in terms of rate of promotions, though the level of discrimination for appointments against DSSC is far higher than that of army (in the army the man who can do the job and is qualified gets its; airforce they will consider Regular Commission qualified or not before DSSC). Navy is deemed the best in terms of pay and other things; the problem is that its deemed the most difficult to enter...........so U choose as your Spirit leads |

kayodespl:The Irony of life is that once upon a time, not so long ago; I remember someone on this thread calling Computer Science the most unserious of them all. Well Mr Kayodespl, it is either Dr S Akinola saw your post on Nairaland or the gods have seen your cry and forced Dr Akinola to send to fresh emails again today. See Email below “Do not forget the Special Training coming up next week. You need to attend this training compulsorily because results from it would form part of one of your courses (CSC 747 or MCS 722). The time Table is here again. The UNILAG center does not concern you. Atend the training irrespective of whether you have done clearance with PG School or not. Those of you that were put in the MCS list and you did not apply for it, pls ignore the admission. It was because you did not pass our Computer Science Test, that is why we put you in the MCS list. For you to get the MCS admission, you need to contact the PG School to formalize the admission. You are also invited to a Statistics Workshop. This is not all that compulsory. See the attachment" Plus He also sent us full lecture time table for the session with Lecturers name attached (this Dr Akinola self e no just dey march brake for email whey e dey send; small breeze blow, e go send email; e be like say rain wan fall, e go send email). So please be aware. If U R in CSC Dept, check your email and confirm oooooooo......its too early in the year to be carrying over courses oooooh!!
|
The mail from Computer Sci Dept Pls be informed that a special one-week intensive training on Data Modelling is scheduled to take place as from Tue 14/5/2015 next week with Prof Amos and Co from France. It is compulsory for the newly admitted Master students to attend this course as it would form part of their databases (MCS 722 and CSC 747) courses' results. Failure to attend it this time means you have automatically postponed the course till next year. Doctoral students are enjoined to attend the course. The time schedules are as provided below. Best regards |

Hmmmmmmm............Finally!! An "alumnus" of UI. I have long learnt (from years of java hunting, Scrabble playing, Back tracking and reading) that the best way to learn is to listen to those eager to speak. I found your post, most humbling, given that UI is your alma mater (just as UNIBEN is mine) and would know better than anyone how your school operates; so I decided to take your word for it and stop typing "Epistles" and actually "Observe" UI's web profile; even though its seemed unnecessary. A look at this thread from pages 50 to 85 proves your post "Entertainingly" offkey at best and wrong or just plain bias at worst given how many persons received mails from UI scheduling them for clearance on calender dates already passed (talk about "UI isn't one of 'those' schools who publicise on the internet what they wouldn't require from you" all over again). The greatest proof of how offkey U maybe comes from UI's web portal itself - a very "Important Message" that remain on its web portal till date which reads "Important Message : Clearance exercise for newly admitted students will now end on September 19, 2014. Please note that there will be no further extension. Deadline of registration for the 2013/2014 academic session has been shifted to September 29, 2014. Please note that there will be no further extension." Which still proves my point, "Do not take actions solely on the strength of what you see online from UI, but on what you can verify offline as well "; a reason I guess someone was smart enough to start this thread which I believe alot of folks have gained immensely from, wouldnt U agree? For those who by virtue of admission letters are already students of UI's Computer Science Post-graduate Dept. and those "other folks" who deem me as the bearer of "Misfortune", not only have I received my letters of admission and all other sundry documents ; I have also spotted my name on the admission list sent to me by none other than Dr S Akinola. If UI is anything members of its alumni say it is then it means on the 16th of April I already have a class to attend; its a pleasure reading your thoughts, sharing mine here, as well as learning how others think. To my fellow colleagues I say congrats and see you when "We" get there................................................. |
Jollyblade:1.) OND will assume the rank of Corporal 2.) The armed forces - army, navy, airforce - ranks R divided into 2 cadres/categories. Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers cadre. Non- Commissioned Officers in the army starts from Private and ends at Warrant officer 1. Commissioned Officers Cadre Starts at 2nd lieutenant and ends at general. OND can never attain the rank of lieutenant as that rank is not available in the Non commissioned officers cadre which OND qualifies U for. It is available in the Commissioned officers cadre which requires minimum of HND or BSc for entry. The only way for an OND graduate to attain that rank is to have a degree and apply for DSSC - Direct Short Service Commission. Most folks join with OND then apply for DSSC after they have obtained their degree. However once U join with OND to move to the Commissioned officers cadre U will need to spend a minimum of 10yrs in the service and must have a bsc or hnd and approval from your commander. To obtain a Bsc or HND while in the service U must also have your commanders approval otherwise if U do get a degree without approval it will not be recognised by the military and U can't apply for DSSC. So if U join with OND, U will find it difficult to do DSSC. It is best to just get degree or HND and join DSSC direct or join with OND and maintain NCO cadre. 3.) Also NDA, Nigerian Defence Academy is a training ground for the armed forces. U will be trained there if U join with your OND and if U apply for DSSC. To be an NDA graduate, U must be 18 and below and have WAEC and will train there for 5 years. Other than that, U go there for your training. |
Jollyblade:I am guessing this is why U tried to reach me via email on Nairaland. I hope the answer isn't coming too late. On activation, OND graduates assume the rank of Corporal for army/Airforce and Able-rating for Navy. While non tradesmen (WAEC) assume the rank of Private for army, Aircraftman or Aircraftwoman for Airforce and Ordinary-Rating for Navy............. I see a lot of folks R getting a little frustrated by the turn of events in the recruitment circles; if Una dey halla like this to buy form and get guarantor, when U come join Job finish na e be say to commit suicide go dey hungry una because whether U believe or not, this job na mad man Job...................take the Postponement of form sales as a blessing in disguise and get prepared to move onward together and be willing able and ready for the DSSC Matter as victory is from God alone. **My Ten Kobo for now** |
missclassy:The real answer to your question (which is the topic of this thread) is no!! Notwithstanding on average, men can be attracted to a lady if she has large bosoms (take note I said on average because not all men are attracted by large bosoms)..............on the other hand, your boyfriend telling you he wish your bosoms were bigger (I am sorry to say this) was either drunk/high, just displaying his natural immaturity or doesn't luv U at all and is just there for the soft spot between your thighs.....................Its just as good as U saying U wish his "magic wand" was bigger and longer (unfortunately that will probably automatically brand U a slut in his eyes, trigger his insecurities or become an asset to use in your next quarrel/argument). I happen to date someone who doesn't fit the profile of endowed but I find very attractive and I know I am not alone (imagine yourself standing with your fiancee and right there Bois are still trying to "say hi"; some guys R just off their rockers). But even if that wasn't the case, telling her I wish her bosoms were bigger is one sure way of triggering off a whole chain of insecurities.......................................something I don't need to bring into my home (met her parents and I am making serious plans to marry her).......................U didn't ask forthis but my advice, prepare to seek pastures that wish your bosoms were the way they are and ditch the boy...................except U guys have made commitments to each other; in that case re-evaluate the relationship as it is, if it can fulfil/satisfy whatever it is that stablises U as a woman emotionally, financially, Spiritually etc. Then make your choice to stay or seek greener pastures.........Chikena |
otimothy:GCE (Nov/Dec) is collected at waec office, SSCE (May/June)is collected at school where it was written |
thedarklord:10am oooo!! U wan wake PG Coordinator 10pm? Abeg ooooo. Call him during the day ok! |
thedarklord:Did you score 40 and above in EPT? If U did, don't think too much U already have it. U can call Dr Akinola on this number 08056666117. He is the PG coordinator for Computer science, call him at 10.00 hopefully he will be in his office then (ibadan is a sleeping town). If he is in his office, he will gladly help U verify your recommendation status (also just make sure all ya documents transcripts, certificates etc are set for clearance so U can sleep fine). Faith without works is dead so work small! Call him.......... ![]() |
OJAH13:Misfortune!!?? There is a very clear, fine line separating the paths between childishness and maturity. And insults/derogatory comments and comedy. Especially in a fora like Nairaland where divers minds/intellects relate and exchange ideas and experiences. Learn to Walk right Ok!! Except U fall into the category of Nairalanders that change monikers like the weather and don't bother how people perceive the current one U R using now..... |
cathodekazim:OK!! I think I should rephrase. Please I never gave counsel that people should not pay their acceptance; ah! ah!! Is it my money? All I guess I was simply trying to say is that let your drive or motivation to pay acceptance not be on the strength of what U saw online alone (of which its just counsel based on my personal view of things, its not a "by force something" because from my personal observation UI is not necessarily tops in their handling of their portal;Go through this thread from its inception, U will find someone was still asking after EPT had been conducted that he had registered and printed invoice for PG school and wanted to know if he should pay & was asking if there was going to be another round of exams (don't take my word for it, go through the pages for this thread and check for yourself). A nigerian of my level of education, that prompts me instinctively to verify any stuff I see online from those who have either verified thru authentic sources that can be held liable to a reasonable extent or go down dia and verify myself...........that's just what I think!! That is not to say anybody paying is wrong or committed an offence. In any case when I had admission during my undergraduate days, the period for Clearance was Clearly stipulated; go and meet them before the time and get the insult of your life (like only government workers know how to give it). Even if U print admission letter now and upload credentials can U pay school fees?, can U go boldly to PG school to go and clear now, when they R still doing exams for a previous session? First acceptance of provisonal admission, then clearance. Have U been invited to clear? If U Have, then go and clear & come & share your testimony with Us........................At least let us learn!! I think all I said in simple english was verify what U see online......Chikena!! Enough said |
dmajor1:What else is there to say, the "gods" of Nairaland have spoken. For those who feel misled my point is "Verify from authentic sources"!! I travelled from Jos to lagos to Ibadan to hear the facts , made call in the same respect to do same....................... Strange that U will think the Dept unserious though especially when I do remember a chemistry student was sent to Kola daisi hall for EPT when his paper clearly said chemistry and the fellow was sent there by staff invigilating chemistry exams in chemistry Dept...............Probably a slip but like I said, my conclusion is Trust but verify...... |
oluwatomi91:Based on what I have been made to understand at UI...D department simply recommends U, admission is a matter for the PG School. Also, the fact that U were recommended for admission or even paid for and printed admission letter (which is even provisional) doesn't even mean that U have the admission (waiting list or otherwise taken into consideration) The endpoint of the admission chemical reaction is clearance before stipulated deadline. And the reactants for that endpoint U already know (like transcript, certificates and your credentials in general). If U like pay acceptance, if your documents R not set for clearance by the set time; the admission endpoint has reached and your acceptance fee U paid is as good as a valentine bonus.. That is not to say that to pay is to err, the point is to verify from a very reliable source (UI PG Staff or call PG coordinator lines in your emails) before making any payment at all....... To avoid stories that touch...... |
This is indeed strange!! I applied for a Masters, Computers Science Dept, met with PG Coordinator for computer science Dept, Dr Akinola Olalekan just last week (I was moved to travel to ibadan because I see a lot of Nairalanders talking about receiving mails of recommendation meanwhile I had seen nothing). So I explained to him that I hadn't received any news from PG school (luckily for me he remembered my face as the first to finish the EPT before time which he supervised at Kola Daisi hall in UI). Just asked for my name, I told him and there and then he congratulated me and asked me to get ready cash to pay my school fees in march cos I had been recommended for admission; he also expressed surprise that the Dept hadn't sent me a mail yet (they still havent sent it till now). He then asked me to confirm that my transcript had gotten to ui because at the point of clearance for the admission it will be demanded. He also told me that my "Seniors" R writing exams starting from last monday and that it will span over 2weeks and that after that break will take place and then 2014/2015 session will commence. My questions for all the lil Waynes, Dangotes and Baba Lowos paying acceptance fee is "Has the session U applied for even commenced to begin with? Which session did U pay for? Considering the current economic downturn, don't U think UI may have increased its acceptance fee for new intakes and U may be paying this year's/sessions's acceptance fees? Is it wise to be paying for acceptance fee when PG school has not yet released the general admissions list formally?" R U aware that even after EPT had been concluded that the access portal/links to register, receive invoice as well as to pay for the EPT was still very much accessible? Assuming your payment is deemed to be made in error, have U any idea how "Simple" it is to retrieve your cash back from an account owned by a university?" Na 21questions ooooooo, but the conclusion of my long talk na "take am easy oooo". #1,000,000 is too small to pay to a University to commit them to any arrangement they have with U no to talk of #20,000. PG coordinator's phone numbers for the respective departments R in the emails they send U. Call them and ask before U make mistakes that may not be easily remedied........... |
Hmmmmmmmmmm..................... I wasn't quite sure how to really respond to Jazz04 comment cause I have had occasion to really get chewed up on a couple of threads on NL (especially ones related to armed forces or security related threads) most times by persons who don't have experience as such & given the security situation in Naïja right now and good old fashioned common sense, its not everything you know you talk about (lest you wake up one morning with DSS & DHQ staff bringing you early morning coffee to help you jump-start ya day). Besides the last time I tried to be generous with info - cause I was trying to really respond to a comment that looked malicious - close to a recruitment circle & accidently gave out my number I woke up to a record breaking amount of Missed calls (not funny if you are using a blackberry curve) - which surpassed the record set when I had a whole airforce base trying to track me on phone cos they thought I was picked up by Boko Haram. Generally I don't do beef threads no more - not worth my energy so I avoid threads/comments with that potential - and I really avoid commenting when I sense malice but just to be clear I will rephrase my comments & put it all in perspective. When I first spoke about gyming, it was in response to Jazz04 comment to the possibility of people even dying in DSSC training - I actually know a NYSC fellowship head that died during a Navy recruitment circle who participated in Jos camp - and I spoke of it in terms of its advantage in recruitment & in performance in physical drills - which actually has been known to kill some dssc guys in army training. I also mentioned explicitly in response to a female NL that it has helped folks who don't have Godfathers to have competing edge. And I spoke about securing your name - and avoiding it been swapped with another - by maintaining a brilliant performance, whether academically during aptitude test or physically during physical drills especially if you are Godfatherless. I specifically spoke about engaging in Sports or actvities that build stamina or endurance (swimming is one of such I remember referring to at least that's not gyming). And I still say it without apology to anybody, as far as these our gallant armed forces of the federal republic is concerned, build matters a lot (especially if you know you are Godfatherless). Thank God, you said you went to Navy secondary school & lived in Navy town. My family home in lagos no far from navy town near alakija, I have been dia Plus a whole lot of barracks in the north and south of this country; I went to Command Ibadan bodei igbo Apata. Anybody you see for secondary school na education officer - aside from RSM - and that is just lao -shi. You are looking for gallant ahoys and officers, GO TO QUORRA!! Where you have HQ for Western Naval Command, NNS thunder, NAVTRAC then come and tell me what you saw. In any case, you cannot compare recruitment priorities pre-insurgency days to this time; both in terms of number of recruitees and physical targets....... And Pls, I never spoke of gyming (or any form of preparation for that matter) as a way to get shortlisted. All your preparartion is either for ya pocket or the next recruitment Circle if you have patience. I spoke of preparation as way to maximise opportunity if you get short-listed. If 40000 people apply, they want to work with just 1600 and will wither it to 500 how will you feature in that 1600 - this is the first work of a Godfather if you have one - and stay in the game till the end without being eliminated from the list? In the army now, they say they want to see what you have in black and white; meaning your papers, you are a first class product, come. You have a professional certificate come. The "general idea" being that if you don't have a godfather, you stand a better chance at getting shortlisted if you have a first class or a 2.1 or 2.2 with a professional certificate attached that is relevant to the corps you apply to. Meaning there is vacancy for your course and you have a professional certiicate to go with it, fine!! That could bring you in on shortlist, what keeps you dia - till final selection and final camp list - (with no godfather) is your performance and that is where preparation (and God himself by himself) can really come in.......................enuff said. |
Mutee:CBQ means Corporal and Below Quarters. SNCOQ means Senior Non Commissioned Officers Quarters; from the rank of Sergeant and above you are a SNCO below that na corporal and below. Different barracks may have different levels/grades of infrastructure depending on the size. Most barracks have a SOQ, Senior Officers Quarters which host Commandants and Commanders of Units or officers from the equivalent rank of Colonel and above. Some have quarters around the officers Mess where junior officers and those Senior officers who desire to live there can stay. |
farellstone:Do the needful, when you eventually get recommended for admission by PG school ui, you will be required to present your o level certificate. The ST means statement as in statement of result, they will want to see the certificate if admission eventually comes. |
Generaloluseye:There are brig Generals and there are Brig Generals. It depends on the persons involved; It is very essential you collect the form and submit as early as impossible if possible. During the last recruitment circle for the Nigerian army (I believe those selected will be going in January to camp) I was made to believe That the list of shortlisted candidates had already been compiled before the close of sale of form so the earlier the better. @Jazz......Bros, if you come to Northern cities like jos or kaduna where they have that passion for armed forces, you will understand better. I believe Namandi Sambo or President Goodluck was in Jos recently to visit terminus market which was bombed recently. In the midst of tight security, along Massalacchin road (because that road was blocked as part of their security protocol), there's a guy I know who works at a game centre. The order by the soldiers guarding that area was for all shops to close, he just came to pick up some stuff and go (since he now knew he couldn't open for the day). This guy wore shades with mufti (much like what some of the SSS Personnel on ground did) and is tall and quite buff and well chested, the soldiers there thought he was part of the SSS crew but did a double check to confirm his identity. When they discovered he was a civilian, there there they advised the guy to join the army because as far as they were concerned, physically, he looked like a gallant officer and gave him phone numbers to call them (these are soldiers working Abuja oh, so you know). They advised him to come with his papers and track them in Abuja, that they will personally show him to their Oga if he will be willing to come. As far a gyming is concerned, na serious advantage especially if you get concrete results. As a tradition, those who get exceptional results in any aspect of the exercise (male or female), when they compile your names inside excel spreadsheet, there is a column for special remarks which they use to distinguish them. If U run that 3km and come out first, your recruitment is automatic (as long as you can maintain at least an average performance when facing the selection board) but from history (as far as I have observed) 100% percent of those who take first place in that 3km jog get recruited. If you blast their aptitude test, they will state it expressly when compiling names in a special remark column and no bagger lizard will dare touch your name for any reason... |
INFORMATION ON TRANSCRIPTS ------------------------------------- For those of you who insist that their transcripts have been sent even though Ui sent you a mail suggesting that they have not received your transcripts, should all realise that the transcripts from your school must be sent with the transcript label (which is printed from the UI portal after you have locked in your application - which in effect is to submit your application). If you didn't print the transcript label, then it means automatically you didn't ask for it to be sent with your transcript and UI will still send you a message telling you that they haven't received your transcript (even though your transcript is there but with no transcript label), in which case, you have to physically present it yourself at the PG school of The University, Ibadan. If you are sure that both the transcript label and transcript was sent with the transcript label attached to the transcript, you may still have to go to the PG school of the University, Ibadan for further clarification. |
Jacinta75:Thanks!! I must say first of all that it isn't a law that only those who know powerful people that get it. There are still exceptions of folks who were in the right place at the right time. An officer I know in the airforce very well (during his own recruitment circle) had the opportunity to pass the shortlisting stage and was invited to write the exams, he had the opportunity of using one old GMAT textbook to practice only for him to face the aptitude test and the questions in the edition of GMAT he used was what came out word for word. He scored 98%. He was invited to face the selection board, when the board saw his result they were impressed & wanted to test him with an academic question. The chairman of the board asked him a question (which he later confessed was his thesis for his Masters degree program), coincidentally that was the area of concentration this young gentleman dealt with as a project topic as an undergraduate. After less than 5 mins of talk, the Chairman commended his brilliance, there there the Chairman of the board told him to go and get ready for training that he will personally make sure that nobody swapped his name when the final list comes out and he took note of his number (for future tips that young officer later gave him for his Masters Thesis). There are cases I can mention but most times, those who fall on the side of merit are 20%. The rest are likely man know man (more so in the era of insurgency where they try to avoid fielding candidates that may or may not be secretly sympathetic to boko boys). Mind you, there are also soldiers who want to become officers that will also apply too. To do so, they must receive letter of recommendation from their commanders (who have a slot in the recruitment exercise, though usually they can out of 540 they want to take, keep 60 for in house slot & then randomnly using a computer select just 60 names out of all the names presented by different commanders of varying rank). And those soldiers know everything about what is required from them which means stiffer competition for the godfatherless folks. The point here being do your best, prepare ahead. You are a guy, get physically fit or buff if U can. U are a lady, build your endurance and shed those big tummies & love handles you are carrying around if possible. I know a guy who is going for Nigerian army dssc, a barrack boy. As I speak with you, he has put himself on an 18months programme. 150kg barbell, 1500 press-ups plus building relationships among NCO & officers that may assist, that is his target, constantly updating himself on the changes in appointments in the Armed forces. Though age is on his side, by the time the guy shows up (if the guy is lucky to be shortlisted) they cant help but notice as the guy gallant. I also know a lady who since last year has been swimming and doing training for 4km jog for the past 13months, speed reads and all manner of GMAT just to face airforce recruitment, as the day approaches if she is lucky to be shortlisted, she has a better chance of moving ahead if given a chance than you whey start to do training/preparation after you buy form. U no get godfather! Fine, do the needful, prayerfully prepare. You may fine yourself amongst the 20% if you so prepare. Its not to apply, then when you don't get it, start complaining that there was corruption, some get shortlisted but later dont make the final cut and then say na man know man. Question, when did you start preparing? Did you find out what may be required of you before picking the form (test, physical drills etc.). I know someone who called me sometime last year who was going for airforce dssc, he was lucky to be shortlisted, less than 3 days to the exams, who is the chief of airstaff? E nor know! What is the highest attainable rank within the armed forces & the airforce as an airforce personnel? E no know! Then you squander the opportunity and later start complaining that all the people you saw none of them where taken..............when things are tough, planning and preparation is key. |
