Some of these Jonathan's men to takeover from the ACN rascals also claim to be adherents of Awolowo's ideals, but thankfully all have been consigned to the dustbin of history. Lol!

edo.girl:
Nonsense. Most Yorubas are instinctively indifferent to the Federal govt. It's been like that since the early 60s. They are happy to get on with their own stuff. Action Group? UPN? ACN? The facts are there.

Waa Gbayi omo Edo, the people I see crying fowl are those that they and their families have been cut off from the national cake. What's the essence of having them as representatives when their sole aim is to carry enough Ghana-must-go bags as possible for their personal consumption and never for the people they claimed to be representing. When the Ota farmer was in charge for good eight years, what are the benefits his people had over others? Seizing Lagos fund to proof superiority, imposing incompetent shameless bleaching old man like Akala to govern the Pace setter state,...

Personally, I believe our few or no representative at the center is paying us well, because the present governors' dependence on FG for developmental projects in SW and ACN controlled Edo is lesser when compared to how it was before now.
Imagine the atrocity and chaos that might be going on in Oyo state if the mistress from Oyo PDP was elected the speaker of the house of rep. What's happening in Rivers where the governor and president happened to be in the same party would have been child's play. Oyo was know for motor park thuggery and amala politics even when a yoruba man(ObJ) was in charge.

What else are these selfish old cargo looking for at the center other than to save their draining accounts?

I feel their patriotism and relentless spirit, but Abuja looks more appropriate to stage protest like this. It's solely on the Federal government and Abuja is the rightful place their voices can be well heard.

Good one, make it quick PLS! I hope Oyo State is getting ready and planning their routes because a connection from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun Ondo, Ekiti, plus possibly Edo, Kwara, Kogi, etc is the end-game but let us get moving fast! We are already running late! grin grin

Hopefully. But you are lil poor in geography, Ogun shares border with Lagos, Ondo, Osun & Oyo. It's not mandatory that you reach Oyo before accessing Ondo and Osun from Lagos, but it's a must to pass through Ogun (except through the Atlantic from Lagos to Ondo or Benin republic from Lagos to Oyo) because she's all around Lagos, that's why she's referred to as "The Gateway State".

Can't help, I've got to do Musiwa's job for you to understand angry

EFFORTS at ensuring South West regional integration and development has seen the Ogun State Government constructing roads to link the state with other South Western states, according to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Olamilekan Adegbite.

At the presentation of a paper entitled “Provision of Infrastructure for the Rebuilding and Transformation of Ogun State” at the fourth summit of the South-West Heads of Service in Abeokuta at the weekend, Adegbite said Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s administration has started the construction of a 29km Ofada-Mowe-Ibafo Road to decongest the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and link Lagos.

He added that efforts had also reached advanced stage on the construction of four other major roads that would link the state with others in the region, which are Sagamu-Ogijo- Ikorodu Road, Ijebu Ode-Epe Road, OGTV-Ajebo Road and Sango-Ojodu Abiodun Road.

He disclosed that two new trailer parks would be created along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to complement the one in Ogere to further prevent avoidable accidents resulting from haphazard parking of articulated vehicles on the road.

Other plan to link the states, he said, is the light rail project to be extended to the borders of Oyo State and link the Lagos rail project, which he hoped that when completed, other states would link up with to enhance movement of goods and people and ultimately boost economic activities in the region

As for the federal government.
FG, Lagos Govt Tussle over Marina Jetty
John Iwori

The war of attrition between the federal government and Lagos State Government over Marina Jetty, Lagos may boil over as the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) may take the latter (Lagos) to court.

A key parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Transport, NIWA said Lagos state has over the years illegally taken over its properties but also encroached on its right of way.

The federal government dropped the hint of its readiness to go to court shortly after the newly appointed NIWA Managing Director, Hajia Inna Mariam Ciroma, made her maiden official inspection visit to the authority facilities in Lagos.

Giving an insight into the federal government’s intentions, Ciroma, who was a former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development during Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration said: "NIWA will first of all pursue dialogue with Lagos state government before considering legal option because I believe federal laws supersede state laws so any law purportedly made by the Lagos state House of Assembly to claim our right of way will not be accepted.

“We shall see if we can dialogue with the Lagos state government on how we can resolve this issue in our interest to ensure that we recover our rightful property from the Lagos state government”, she added.

The erstwhile Minister argued that the act setting up NIWA gave it jurisdiction on where to operate and not to operate. Describing water transport business in Lagos as a lucrative venture that would relieve pressure on the road, she added that the facilities in the state are crucial to generate revenue for the federal government.

According to the NIWA Managing Director, Lagos state is the hub for foreign investors. NIWA will partner both local and foreign investors to ensure government success on the inland waterways of the nation.

As a way out of some of the ills plaguing the authority, particularly poor funding, Ciroma said NIWA was in search of how to enhance its revenue generation in order to meet set objectives.
“In order to generate revenues for the agency, NIWA Area Offices have to go after debtors in order to collect debts from operators that use its facilities. This has been a problem for the agency. NIWA is aimed to engage private investors to develop the facilities for efficiency of the inland waterways of the country”, she said.

Ciroma assured stakeholders that the authority would put in place measures on how to make the waterways viable for purpose to generate revenue for the government. She revealed that the authority has police command that are posted to all its facilities all over the country to ensure safety, compliance and revenue generation.

maasoap: I live in Osogbo, the state capital, nothing like this happened recently. Though there was a time (last year) when soldiers who were part of security patrols code named "SAS" were harassing ladies who dressed half-naked!y just like when it happened in Lagos under Fashola. They were later called to order. Many incidents like what @op posted actually happened in Osun, some were even worse than that but this photo might be a wrong photo. But it had been stopped.

Atimes, the ignorance exhibited by some of you who have not travelled pass Sagamu can be mindbuggling. Pls, try and leave your cocoon in the SW and visit other parts of the country especially the Eastern parts. When you come back we can now discuss.

Like seriously, is there any meaningful place in Nigeria outside SouthWest, PH and Abuja? Sorry i can't cope with alaibo villages, there's nothing to discuss/debate with you.

CyberG:

Oga, I hope you don't involve yourself in the kind of "i before others" contest we have come to know with ibos on this forum. Let it not be seem as though it is important if any part of the Yoruba Commonwealth has more of something more than the other part. What is important is the advancement of the people, their heritage and inheritance and Nigeria by extension and in general. Let more industries be created in Ogun if that be the case, let more be in Lagos, Ibadan or Osun State, let more corporate headquarters be in Lagos, let the people be able to access the hinterlands of Osun and Ekiti State for tourism, agriculture, etc. It all adds up eventually for the better for everyone! Cheers!

Not until Ogun state igr can reach half of that of Lagos, Ogun should honorably take the second position as the most industrialized state in the country.
The governor should be commended though, N750million to N3.8billion and still counting, within two years is commendable.

To those Ogun people who posted earlier trying to convince those omo ibos, you all are bringing ogun state so low. I think the whole eastern states should be competing with Ibadan in term of numbers of industries.

The present SW governors are doing above average in term of igr generation. Ekiti's Igr was formerly N100million plus, it's presently N600million(Lagos former IGR). Osun state Igr was formerly N300million, it's been increased to N700million as at now.
