edmasta01:
So my mums visa application to come and visit me and my family for a one month visit to see her grandson (5 month old) on holiday was refused.

Attached is the refusal letter.

She is not a first timer. She has visited us in the UK before back in 2011 to attend our marriage blessing (wedding) and she only spent two weeks which was what she quoted on her application form at the time.

Here are the documents that I submitted:

1. Invitation letter
2. My British passport
3. 6 month pay slip from work
4. My Son's birth certificate
5. My current account statement (with balance of less than £100)
6. My Savings account statement (with balance of a little over £7,000 pounds)
7. My wife account (where all our household expenses are debited from)

8. My mortgage statement (to prove my residence)

9. 11 months worldremit money transfer receipts (I send N50,000 each to my dad and mum every month for their upkeep.
I also include a money transfer receipt from february this year showing that I sent home money to pay their rent at the flat that they live in).

My mum submitted the following documents

1. Her bank statement (that reflect the monthly 50k money transfer I do through the agent into her account every month)

2. My dads bank statement (that shows that I send the same amount to my dad too)

3. A letter from my dad stating that he is giving permission for my mum to visit us in the UK for one month

4. A copy of my dads passport showing that they bear the same last name (they don't have a marriage cert. They married under traditional marriage)

5.

In the invitation letter, I stated that I will be funding her trip from Lagos to Nigeria to heathrow and to my house and back to Nigeria at the end of the trip using the money saved in my savings account (i quoted the account number).

I also said that my parents are dependent on me and I send them regular stipends (with the money transfer proof and their bank statement to show it) as they are older (dad is in his 70''s) and do not have any form of income like pension.

I also mentioned that she will be staying the entire trip at our residence. And i mentioned that I have earmarked the sum of £3,500 out of the funds available in my in my HSBC savings account for her trip.

I gave a detailed budget below:

Flight Ticket and Airport Transfer £1,000
Grocery/Food shopping £600 (for four weeks)
Visit to attractions £500
Stipends (for her to spend) £750
Travel Insurance £150
Miscellaneous £500

Can you good people in the house help me look over this and suggest what I can do to resolve the issues that the ECO raised. Thanks.
Sorry for this refusal. My take is that why did you say that your mother is unemployed? Secondly your budget for her visit was expectionaly high. She only requires return fight ticket +100£ for any travel incidence. What ever you spend on her during her visit is non of anyone business. You can re apply and only present your saving account. Or move money to your current account and explain in a cover letter that ECO did not take into account your savings which is sufficient to support your mother visit.

thanks. It's a PLAB 2 under Business visa tho the standard visa covers it. It's just very confusing. I am just worried
Business visa, General visa, family visa, etc are all classed under standard visitor visa.

My husband is trying to apply for a business visa to write PLAB 2 exam. We are thinking of applying for 5 days though he has to stay for 25days(classes and practice) He has no travel history. What do you guys think? Can a first timer spend more time than what was initially mentioned? Very confused now
Cc @ekpotek and @justwise
He should apply for the intended number of days to spend in the UK. What get you a visa is not the shortening of number of days to spend, but the reason for the visit, documents to back it up and solid home ties to Nigeria.

No much difference. Just state you intent to spend 10 days on your landing card and explain why if asked at POE.

Hello house,

I would have loved to stay in UK for 3 weeks oh, though I stated 10 days when applying for the visa. Spending this much for only 10 days get as e b sha. Pls advice on how best to go about it.

Thanks
I advise you stick to your original travel plan. If you have any serious reason to stay beyong 10 days, declare it on your landing card and defend it at POE.

Please help!!!!
Hello guys. Please I need help/advice
My dad and my brother would be attending my graduation ceremony and I filled and submitted their visa form. I put travelodge hotel address on their form as that’s the best place for them to stay. I’m trying to book their hotel now and I realised the dates for their travel, travelodge doesn’t have rooms available. Is it possible I book another hotel and they write a note to the eco explaining the situation and attach the note when they go for their biometrics/ interview.

Please help!
Yes

To the glory of God, I got my passport today with 3 years tier 2 visa. I took the IELTS for ukvi, passed. Did my biometrics at Ikeja on June 8, using walk in and priority. Got my passport today, decision was made June 18 that's 7 working days.
Thank God my priority payment wasn't in vain but Ikeja show me pepper for walk in, walk in turned to stand out, they didn't attend to us until after all those on appointment had been attended to. Well all is well that ends well, decision was made on the day I would have had my appointment if I didn't use walk in.
Those UK people have chopped my money plenty, I must retaliate when I land UK, not coming there to count bridge.
Thanks to all that contributed to my matter.
Congratulations.

Hello all,

My timeline for priority service (Abuja TLS):
submitted - 8/6/2018
collected - 20/6/2018

Following our previous communication on this,

I applied for the visa and included all the following recommended documents including a detailed cover letter explaining ALL the credits in my salary statement of account which i submitted.
The confusing thing here is that my reason for visa is to go for a training in bristol, england which will be FULLY sponsored by my organisation.
I attached the admission letter, invitation letter and receipt sent by the organisation.
Including the approval letters from my office for accomodation, feeding and all other cost. Also included a Letter of introduction, employment letter, id card etc.

In the form i mentioned a have a relative in the UK who lives in London
& i am not going to see him, i gave his contact details. Also i attached a copy british passport.

But in they letter they said 'You are applying to enter UK for 22 days for holiday to visit family and friends'

Could it be that my application was not even read properly or what?

Training is coming up July 2 - 20, 2018

Please what are my options... I am confused

@ekpotek @justwise
Sorry for the refusal. Clearly there must be a mistake some where. Unless you have filled in your application form the purpose of visit as family visit and not to attend a training. Please check the application form you submitted.

Please experts in the house, any help? @justwise @ekpotek I’d appreciate any advice
Can you list the supporting document you intent to use? If you where refused for a short study visa, then it will not be easy when you now changed to visit or fiancé visa? Secondly reapply so soon and switching visa category clearly suggest an immigration intent on your part.

please advice cos i'm re applying asap.. thanks and God bless!!!
The refusal letter is clear enough. Given your presence on this thread, this mistake is a carelessness on your part. You need to provide detailed documentation on those funds coming into your account and why are the funds are being paid into your account? Is it for payment of services or what? Clearly 2.4M entering into your account from undisclosed sources is not acceptable. If you can tackle this, then you can reapply. Also the ECO also considered your travel history. This is usually taking into consideration if your reasons for the visa is for tourism.

thanks, let me check how it works, but if it's require me to be present in the UK, it will be difficult.
A UK business investor visa will require you having a minimum of £200000 to invest in thecUK and if approved will grant you and your family 3-5 years resident in the UK. You may not be present in the UK all the time, depending on the type of investment or business. But if you want your resident to be counted toward Permanent resident you must not be outside the UK for a period totaling 180 days.

What type of scholarship are awarded to children? Is it to study kindergarten or primary education? Man if you have the fund to send your family to Canada try their permanent resident visa programme. Better still look for school in Canada or UK and pay the fee if accepted. Wether they will be issue visa is another thing.

Hi everyone.. Please I need an urgent answer to this question.

My sister booked a hotel from Airbnb in respect to her husbands Visa application. His appointment is tomorrow and she was just informed that her reservation has been canceled..

Can she booked another hotel to submit at TLS tomorrow? Would it affect his application because she has already written down the address of the accommodation in his application.

Kindly assist me. Thanks.
Sure book another hotel and include the new reservation as part of your documentation and explain the reason for change of reservation in a cover note.

Hi guys,
Pls, I just completed my UK visa application and submitted, but I later discovered an error in the employment history.
I converted my monthly expenses( look living costs) and amount giving to family members out of my salary to pounds(£) ,but I forgot to put the pounds symbol in front of the amounts. Though, I filled my monthly salary after tax in Naira.

So,how do I go about getting it corrected or should I leave it like ?f it won't cause any issue
Explain this error in a cover note to ECO and submit it as part of your document.

Ps I am not giving false information. Relevant documents does not mean that the person is submitting it with d application, which I am aware of, since the person is not staying or visiting. What I mean is relevant documents for verification. Before u put any one in y application, u av to be very sure that the person has a genuine stay by requesting for relevant documents to enable u verify by yourself. I do use my family friend for my application, she sent me relevant documents, to enable me verify, I was satisfied about it and I used her and I never submitted the documents with my application.

One does not just put any relative/friend in the application bc of the person lives in the uk without u verifying the person status . Seeing is believing than someone tells u, i av a stay in the UK and u believe without seeing for y self, whereas the person does not av a stay. In her own case, I am not sure and comfortable about her sister and hubby status in the UK, so that is why I advised that, it is left for the sister and mum to decide, if the sister is very sure she has a genuine stay in the uk ,then she go ahead and fill it, if she is not sure of her daughter's stay let her d'nt even border to mention it. Most people in Nigeria av relatives living in uk but, most of them d'nt av stay. Can u put someone that u are not sure of his/her stay in y application?

I know u av corrected me before which was noted and I av been careful about it. Thanks for that . I am not okay with people puting someone they are not sure of his/her status and someone that can not give u relevant documents / informations about themselves to enable u verify.
Once again your reasoning and defense does not hold water! First it is wishful thinking and I doubt that someone staying illegally in the UK will want invite you!. The OP has stated clearly that her sister and her husband are legally residing in the UK, but do not have sufficient finances to fully sponsor their mother. Why then do you advise that OP should lied about having relatives in the UK. Assuming the OP mother got the visa through misinformation, what gain will that be, when she can be sent back at POE if she is unable to provide acceptable explaination of her intention in the UK.

Am sure he is a permanent citizen cos my sis got her pr and joined him in uk last year so his documentation should be ok. My sis mentioned he may be illegible to sponsor as he no more works full time since he started schooling. Is my mum better off applying for a visiting visa. If So, during the application what will we write as her reason for wanting to travel?
Your mum have every right to visit her daughter for omugu or whatever. Read back through this thread and you will find several successful applicants in the same shoes as your mother. Package your application very well with all necessary documents and your mother will get the visa irrespective of your sister’s husband working part time and studying. Going for a visiting visa without a definite purpose is not advisable as your mother is neither a tourist or frequent traveler. Beside UKVI already have some data on your mother as your sister must have included her name and date of birth when she was filling her spousal visa application to join her husband in the UK.

Since, they can not invite y mum, ps I will advice her to just apply as a tourist with the intention to visit the UK for summer holiday.

There is no place in the application she is asked to write reason of visiting. What is asked is purpose of visiting, she picks the purpose from the options in dialog box. My advice again is that she should book hotel reservation as where she will stay, bc if she mentions she will stay in y sister's house, your sister has to provide all her details, which I guess, she might not have all, bc the ECO will like to see that y sister is capable of accomodating her during her stay in the uk and also if she state y sister address as where she will staying, y sister phone number will be included in the address of the place she will stay and the ECO might wish to call her to verify if she is expecting some one, who is the person to her etc, and the ECO will also wonder why letter of invitation is not included in d application, so to avoid all these complications, she should just book hotel or hostel in booking.com, as soon as she gets the visa, she cancel it. When she is ready to travel, she can book again bc, of when she gets to POE, she might be asked where she will staying, when she finally gets to y sisters house, she cancel d reservation.

Also when filling the application, she will come across the place that is asked if she knows anybody in the UK, will she be visiting? The person status in the UK, so it is left for y mum and sister to decide what she will answer there . But, I do advice pple if u are not very sure of the person status in the UK and if the person is not ready to provide relevant documents about his/her self, ps just click NO and avoid any complications and denial. All the best to y mum
This advice is misinformation and should not be encouraged on this forum. The fact that you declare that you know someone in the UK, does not necessarily mean that you must provide relevant documents about that person. You are only required to provide relevant document about that person if you intend to visit or stay with the person.

Sure very possible so far you will still have resident status in the UK during your PhD application and admission processes. However, if your visa expires before then, you are expected to leave the UK or extend your visa.

hi guys, when submitting a sponsor's passport data for a UK visit visa, is it appropriate to just submit the bio page and visa pages that contain the visa stickers only or is it necessary to add all the immigration stamps showing departure and arrival bearing in mind that the stamp pages alone are about 20 pages of A4 sheets.

cheers
Just the sponsor passport data page as evidence of nationality and current visa stamp as evidence of current immigration status in the UK.

Asking for a friend, since I've got no clue.

She selected a 2 year Visa for UK using super priority, she paid $567, she wants to know if that's the full fee (visa + super priority) or only just the the visa fee? Does she have to pay an additional fees using TLS?
2 years visit visa - £350
Super priority service (decision within 24 hours) is additional £750
You can worked that out. Definitely it will not be $567! I guess your friend had only paid 2 years visa plus additional fees where applicable.

Hello house, i would be grateful if anyone can give advise.

One of my close friends in the UK will be having a first birthday party for her daughter in Sept and is ready to send me an invitation letter.

I am a freelance business developer/planner and also do odd jobs here and there. I also have an unofficial effort that organises football tournaments for aspiring footballers and will be having a second edition in August. There is social media, flyers.
The issue here is that:

- Although i have a business account, 95% of my business transactions have been done through my savings account with inflows ranging from 800k to 1m monthly with no real balance. My second savings account has a bal of about 1.4m currently.

-I have travelled to the UK several times in the past and also had my masters there in 2016.

- I have an expired Schengen visa from 2015

-I have a valid US visa and have been to the States twice this year.

-I was denied a Schengen visa to France in March

Kindly advice on the best way to go about this, thank you.
Hi if you’re really what you just said. You do not need an invite to visit the UK. Your UK education and travel history to the UK in the past should count here. Just apply to take a vacation/visit during the time of the birthday and you will be fine. Honestly I don’t think the ECO will give you a visa to spend close to N500K to go and attend a birthday party of someone not related to you in the UK.

Hi bro,
You can always apply again,
Here was what I did
I received a salary of about 80k Per month from my previous place of work, I ensured I used a blue pen to make where ever I received a salary and also mentioned that in my 'additional Cover letter"
I now received a bigger salary in my new place of work, I also did the same,

Always write an additional cover letter mostly explaining your financial status,

Since I had a closing balance of 80k, I told them that this is my salary account and not my personal acct, and feel that is unnecessary to include it to my application, but also stated that I am willing to provide this information if required.

My account just shows I receive a steady salary, however, I spend it is my business.

I hope this helps.
Congratulations. Enjoy your trip.
