@ekpotek

Someone on the thread below said I should be worried, are u sure the advice u gave would suffice? If he writes a cover note explaining I hope it will be taken into consideration in ECO final decisions.

Thanks alot
That’s what the cover letter is for! To explain things and clarify whatever information you entered in your application form.

please if uk denies one visa, do you stamp the passport because his passport was not stamped? if he decides to reapply, should he use the previous bank statement he used before that was printed on 11th June, 2018 or he should print another one?
Passport stamped or not stamped does not matter as UKVI already have his profile on their system forever! Yes he should update his bank statement to re apply.

Good day House, Please anyone with this experience..

I made a mistake on my Dad's application when filling the online application for Standard Visitors Visa. Should I cancel and ask for refund, while I redo the application OR can this be cleared up when he goes for his interview and biometrics

- Instead of stating the income for the year, I stated income for the month. Rather than N3m/year, I stated 250k/year. Note he has savings of about N1m. And he is not sponsoring himself on the Trip. Should I be worried?

- At what point will the application be evaluated, before the interview OR after the interview when he submits his supporting documents? Can he write a letter(to clear up the figures) and present it during the interview.

Thanks
Tell your father to enclose a cover letter to point out the error to the ECO, and print out the application form and cross out the error with the correct information. Submit this with cover note as part of his documentation. There is is no interview for visitor visa. Only biometric capture and document submission during appointment.

Please who knows the ukvi email address? @ekpotek @justwise.

Ukvi did wrong calculation on someone's salary and he was denied base on ukvi typo error. The person stated that he earns 24M a year which is £50,097.78 but ukvi wrongly quoted £5,009.78 a year even after stating the 24M in naira on his refusal paper. I never knew they could make such mistake. Has anyone witnessed such? The guy needs ukvi email urgently to mail them of the error or what do you think the person should do?
Tell the person to re apply if that was the only reason for the refusal and point the error out in a cover letter. Contacting UKVI will not change the decision. There is no provision administrative review for visitor visa.

Although I wasn't the one that asked the question earlier, is it compulsory your sponsor transfer the Fund he intend to sponsor you with to your bank account?
How else will the applicant proof sufficient fund, if the amount promised by the sponsor is not sitting in her account. Sometimes provision of Nigerian sponsors bank statement does not necessarily mean access to the fund. The ECO knows this.

Good evening everyone, I want to apply for a UK visa and I have read all 400+ pages of this thread and to be honest, I am very confused and there is no one to ask as this is my first time. Now the thing is that I have a professional exam coming up in August and the test center is in London. I am a corper and my take home is barely 30k. My brother wants to sponsor me and while filling the application (please note that I have not submitted so, I can still edit my answers) I filled that I collect regular allowances from family which is true because I only started youth service in April so I don't have 6 months statement to produce for work. But I have a personal account where my family sends me money. What is really confusing me is that I read that you have to be able to defend every money that comes into the account. In my own case now that the money is from my family, how do I prove this ? Please, also note that they are not huge amounts... Varies between 15k-25k. So now

1) how does one start explaining every money that has entered the account in the past 6 months ? The balance isn't even high, what is left there is like 5k

2) should I just do away with the personal account ?

3) I have documents like :
Receipts for exam fees
Appointment schedule
Ppa letter of introduction
Allawee account and ppa account. No other money enters except salaries. But these accounts were opened in April.
Please what do you suggest I do? I finished school last year so I don't have much ties or finances to support myself.
Your application should routed on your sponsor financial standing and his relationship to you, so you should be more concern about providing documents to support it. Your own financial situation is abysmal and there is nothing you can do about it. You should request from your sponsor to transferred all the funds for your UK trip into your allowance bank account. What is needed on your part is evidences that you will return back to Nigeria. So I suggest that get as much documents from NYSC and not just leave letter. You should be thinking of submitting documents like letter of NYSC posting, NYSC Community development activities report. Letter from your place of primary assignment, Graduation certificates or statement of results etc. Now to answer your questions:

1. Submit only the account showing allowance payment from NYSC even if it’s not up to see months. If you get other allowance from PPA indicates it too. Your sponsor will also submit his 6 months bank statement showing fund transferred to your bank account.

2. Yes

3. Get more document to show reasonable conviction to return back to Nigeria after the examination. Letter of introduction from your professional body, former school professors etc.

4. Your sponsor should write a cover letter, to explain why he is sponsoring the trip and relationship to you. Since your sponsor is your brother he must show that he is related to you. He must transfer all the fund into your bank account he must point it out and indicate the date of the transfer and highlight it in his bank statement.

5. You will also write a cover note, explaining why you need to take the exam and it’s importance to you career. You will also state that due to your NYSC service you cannot affford the trip and your brother willl finance everything. Highlight the fund sent to you by your brother in your bank statement. Promise the ECO to return back after the exam to continue your NYSC as it’s a prerequisite for employment in Nigeria.

Thanks Mr Ekpotek for your prompt response, I am very grateful. His name was included on our tier 2 application and we have his original birth certificate (national population commission), marriage certificate, receipts of school fees in Nigeria, letter of introduction from his present school. We will be sending our coloured copies of brp, visa pages and our biodata pages too. I intend to go and pick him when d visa is granted.
Fine. Don’t forget to explain in your cover letter, that due to the ongoing school term, you did not apply for his visa then and now that he has competed the school term, it safe for him to come to the UK to continue his school. Good luck.

It's for my mum she chose to go for ROA...is it possible to apply from Nigeria...?
Sure you can apply from Nigeria. Use the visa4uk.gov website. However, I will not recommend this route. Many in your mother position have successfully gotten their British passport though painstaking and doughtiness. At the end the waiting is worth the effort. Your mother has all the require documents to apply directly for her British passport and not Right of Abroad. Take note that if approved, your ROA validity will be same as your Nigerian passport validity and you will need to re apply again for ROA, when your Nigerian passport expires, if you do not have a British passport by then.

My gurus in d house, Mr Just wise, Mr Ekpotek please I need a response on my son's visa application. We are still trying to figure out how to go about this. Please help, please...
I don’t think your minus balance or whatever will be an issue here. You have every right for your kid to join you in the UK on a dependant Tier 2 visa. The only requirement is that your kid name was listed in your tier 2 application and you have proof of parentage. The question is will the kid fly unaccompanied to the UK?

Good morning ekpotek, I can't tell if TLS failed to upload the documents or its an oversight on the part of the ECO, pls guide me on how to outline the bolded.
There is always a checklist by TLS where the documents uploaded are ticked or listed. Applicant are require to scrutinize this checklist and sign as evidence of acceptance before leaving for biometric capture.

If you will provide a paid carer to look after your kid sister while in the UK, then provide the document. If not, inform the ECO that you will be the carer and that your kid sister will not be left on her own throughout the visit. This can be done by outlining in details what your sister and you hope to do for each day of the 8 days to be spent in the UK.

I was 4years old.
Unfortunately I think your are require to live up to 7 years from birth before you can claim BC. Anyway go through this thread, there are loads of information and advice on visitor visa application. Being born in the UK will not conferred any advantage. You need to proof sufficient Home ties to Nigeria like everyone else.

Sorry for the refusal of your kid sister. Can you verified that indeed her birth certificate and consent letter was uploaded by TLC? Anyway you can re apply and ensure that these documents are clearly brought to the attention of the ECO in a cover letter. In addition you need to outline to welfare and care plan you have put in place for your kid sister during her stay with you in the UK.

Sorry you are not eligible for British Citizenship by birth, unless one of your parent was a British Citizen at the time of your birth. If you were born before 1st January 1983, you are a British Citizen by birth regardless of the nationality of your parent.

Next question. How long where you living in the UK before returning back to Nigeria?

Good evening, please someone should answer me. Please it is urgent. Let me explain how it is:

My sponsor has a low opening account balance, now his balance is about 5m from 4 months back. He has transferred 1m to me which will be highlighted in his statement and also explained in his letter of sponsorship to show easy accessibility to funds by me for the trip. Does he have to explain his inflow of money too? Please this is my first time and I don't want to make a costly mistake.

Please I don't know how to go about it so that they won't say he is doing money lodgement.

I hope someone understands my question and can put me through.
Your sponsor does not need to explain any inflow or outflow. All that is needed is that there is sufficient fund in your sponsor account to cover the trip. However, you will need to explain any suspicious inflow into you own account, including the transfer from your sponsor.

MP = Member of Parliament in the UK. An equivalent of that will be your councilor or house of assembly member where you reside. You can contact your MP to write to Home Secretary to upturn a refusal if it is unjustified. There are testimonies of inviters using this option on this forum. The inviter must be a British Citizen or hold a Permanent Residence (PR) or Indefinite leave to Remain (ILR).
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek:

Ekpoetek no doubt you give great advice on here. But What exactly is the point with the bit in bold? Completely unnecessary. The poster is the sponsor and should be the one to prove he has sufficient funds.

The Mum has been to the UK before. I struggle to see sense with some of these refusal.
The ECO considered the present economic and financial situation of the applicant which is inline with UKVI visitor visa guidance rule books, regardless of the full UK sponsorship. Hence the reference to unemployment status of the mother by the ECO

I can relate with you that some of these refusal are pathetic. However, without an option of appeal or administrative review for all categories of visitors visa, the ECOs are kings here. The onus is now on the applicant to dot the i and cross the t so as to avoid a refusal. The ECO want to see outflow from his saving account to justify immediate access, then sending ticket funds to his mother is a suggestion on my part, which the applicant can do or ignore. It is painful when you’re so sure of your application only to be refused for some flimsy reasons. Some applicants are able take UKVI up using their MP. Many others do not have this privilege and are only left with the option of reapplying (more money for UKVI) or forget the trip.

I am not familiar with application document submission in your Bleep country. In Nigeria all documents weather original or photocopied are scan to UKVI and returned to applicant on spot.

Statement of account. Husband 6 months
Husband payslips 6 months
Tbills certificate husband
Intro letter from husband office
Letter of employment husband
Travel history passports (both)
Hotel reservation booking.com(both)
Flight reservation (both).
Land survey document (in both husband and wife name).
Pension statement husband.
Account Closing balance? Any fund lodgement that is twice your salary in the last 6 months. What is the reason for the trip? How long has your wife being unemployed? Both your chances is largely dependent your work history, and integrity to return back with your wife after the trip. How you will convince the ECO is a matter of conjecture. So start drafting a convincing cover letter, focus on your working history in Nigeria, marriage and family life. Clearly enumerate your intention and reasons to take your wife to Bleep holiday in the UK. Discussed why she is unemployed, or you prefer her not work as you are capable of taking care of her need. Finally show that your position in your work place cannot allow you to overstay and you would be returning back with your wife. Clearly you need more documents eg marriage certificate, promotion letters, work contract and pay, 6 month pay slips, leave letter, birth certificate etc. Any information you put in the application form must be supported with evidence.

Good evening sir
1. They said I had only began my studies and planned to visit the UK for a month. It was the end of my first semester.
2. They stated my confirmation letter from school was not in English but I attached a legalized official English translation that was overlooked by the ECO.
I am doing a two-year masters program and I am done with my first year already.
Could not reapply then because my holidays were almost over when the refusal came.
Thanks
If you still plan to have your vacation reapply ASAP. Address the initial refusal, by stating:
1. You have by now spent a year session in your studies affirming that you are bonafide student in XXXX university undertaking xxxx programme which you also supported with xxxx documents in your last application.

2. That the ECO did not see your legalized translation of your confirmation letter, which you have added again to this application. I suggest you mark boldly on the translated and original confirmation letter for the ECO to know.

Review your school admission documents to see if there is anyway you have indicated your mum as as a sponsor for your master studies. The ECO may have access to information about you that you are not aware from your previous UK application. If your mum was sending you money provide document to support this. If not then also provide document to counter the statement of the ECO (sponsorship document)

Thanks very much ekpotek. I mentioned that she is unemployed because she is a housewife. She does not have a job. Or am i wrong to think that being a housewife is considered a "job"?

The only source of income she gets is what I send to her account directly every month (same with dad). My dad is in his 70's and closed down his business too without any source of income.

Kindly advise.

How do I address the budget in the new application? Should i create a new budget stating only that I am paying for her travel expense?

ANy chance you can help with examples of how to deal with this please?

I am happy to present my savings account alone. But won't the ECO want o see proof of my earnings? hence why I include the current account in the first place?

Thanks for your help on this.
Unemployment is only acceptable if your mother is looking for work. Home making/housewife is preferably if she is an elderly person. What was her status in her previous application in 2011? Just explain in your cover letter why your mother is unemployed.

You budget line should only be for her flight ticket and perhaps £100 for incidentals. Accommodation and feeding is free. She coming there to see her grandson, so all those expense like shopping, etc should be eliminated. Move money to you current account and re submit both current and saving accounts and explain to ECO to show you have access you saving account, you have moved £2000 to your current account. Then you can also credit your mum account with flight ticket money and £100 pocket money. Again move the fund from your savings and explain to the ECO that you doing this so that you have access to this account and she can buy her ticket from Nigeria. The ECO want so see that you have access to your saving account, so show it.

Hi Gurus,

Quick one pls!!

I got PTDF Scholarship to go for my PhD in the UK and I will like to go with my son and husband as dependants, now here are my questions

1. Is my husband's statement of account needed to process his visa?

2. Do we all have to share the same last name?

3. If we don't share the same last name, what are the documents I need to provide to proof we a family

4. How early can my husband get a Job on the UK?

5. Please what the average monthly rent for a bedroom OR 2 BEDROOM apartment in EDINBURGH.

Thanks!!!
1. He will apply for a Dependant visa. Yes his account statement will be need if you’re applying together unless your scholarship also cover family up keep of your husband and son

2,3. Not necessary as long as you have civil marriage certificate to proof the relationship.

4. Depend on his qualification and job availability. It could immediate or may take longer. There are always unskilled job to do in the UK
5. Check UK house renting site for that information.

Good evening all, ardent follower of this thread. I apologize for the potentially long post. God bless everyone for their good works and thanks @justwise for creating this platform.
I am a student in Europe, full time. my school is now on break and I applied for a UK visa to spend time with brother and family last month. Unfortunately, my visa was refused AGAIN for the second time in 6months. for the latest, I was notified via email with a PDF attachment yesterday. I have not received my passport yet.

1. Applicant’s current original passport and copies of other passports with my travel history-visa stamps
2. Applicant’s proof of legal residence in study country (residence permit)
3. Applicant’s confirmation letter from school stating student status and holiday period
4. Applicant’s student ID and academic transcripts.
5. Invitation letter from brother.
6. Brother’s bio data page and proof of legal status in the UK(He's a British Citizen)
7. Brother’s 6 months bank statement and council tax bill
8. Printed online application form and checklist.
9. Applicant’s bank statement of 6 months.
10. Applicant’s housing agreements (for my flat)
11. Applicant’s study agreement.
12. Applicant’s chat history of about two years with my brother(217 pages).
13. Some pictures of me with my brother and his family
14. Cover letter explaining ANYTHING that may not be clear and my holiday plans to go shopping, sightseeing and so on. my brother stated I'd have 2000 pounds to spend on my holidays.

PLEASE NOTE- I did not mention my "mother" at any point except for the part of the form that stated parents details. My mum is retired and my brother has been responsible for me. This is a serious oversight from the ECO just like in the first refusal where he said i did not plan to stay with my brother which i clearly stated otherwise in my cover letter and application form. I stated i was a non-working student and all my expenses are FULLY taken care of by my brother with proof of my bank statement with money transfers from my brother which I HIGHLIGHTED. Why are they referring to him as a UK Sponsor? He is my eldest brother and also included both our birth certificates. i have no right to admin review and my brother plans to call and send emails to them for this oversight. Cos i am not sure my application was looked at at all.
Please I really need your opinion and insight sirs @justwise @ekpotek and all other gurus. THANKS AND GOD BLESS!
