My advise is that your mother should rather apply for her adult British passport. Go online at www.gov.uk/overseas-passport and download the form. Fill, get a british citizen, Irish, EU, or US in Nigeria to counter sign. Post by DHL to the UK home office. The supporting document should be
1. Her Original birth certificate short and long
2. Parent British and Nigerian passports
3. Photo of her life in Nigeria and life in the UK if available, family photo with parent and siblings
4. Parent records of activity in the UK, Job, house address in the UK etc
5. Possible DNA test to proof paternity to her parents
6. Record of your mum activities in Nigeria - educational certificate, employments, etc
7. Original Marriage certificate if any
8. Original Birth certificate of all her children
9. Copies of data page of her current Nigerian passport. Please make sure you make a list of all original document submitted.

1. There is no any effect the 3months will have on him. The duration of his stay as a visitor is 6months, It is when he over stays after 6months,then he will have trouble. My last vacation to uk last year I stayed 3months with my 2years visa. I came bk and renewed for 5years, when asked to state how long I stayed in my various visits. I stated 3months and the purpose of visit was for vacation and the last visit was 11days on vacation.

2. Please let him d'nt complicate issues on his application by saying he received medical treatment. My advice just tick NO, inorder not to complicate issue. I received medical treatment, I had various GP appointments during my 3months stay and I never paid but when asked in my recent application, I tick NO bc I d'nt want to complicate issues for my self. This days I am not sure, if visitors are allowed to receive FREE medicals. The choice is yours, if u want to click YES, get ready to explain and submit receipts of medical treatment. There is no any trouble he will encount if he ticks NO. My advice just tick NO.

3. Your father in-law is financially able to sponsor him self, with all these u mentioned, there is hope for him. All he needs to do is place all his financial documents together, that includes the houses for rent, all statements of accounts, including pension he should go ahead and apply for 5years, this will save him the stress of applying every year especially if he is a frequent traveler. The 5years visa goes for N321,00

The fact that you got away with this misinformation does not mean others will be as lucky as you. The reason that you escaped a ten year ban is simply that NHS has not sent your file to UKIV as a debtor. For your information and others who might try to doctored their application form. Please note the UKIV and indeed every government institutions in the UK keeps good paper and electronic records even as far back the 18th century. This misformation will count against you one day, as long as you would need to apply for a UK visa in the future. It could be your next application. A word is enough for the wise.

My mum was born in England nd her parents(my grandparents) relocated back to Nigeria while she was still young so she didn't have the chance to get her British passport...nd now she's planning on applying for ROA nd later apply for her British passport bt the problem is she does not know what documents to provide to show proof apart from her birth certificate... please can I know what supporting documents she needs to show proof of citizenship...

What year was your mum born in the UK?
Does she have the long or short birth certificate? Are her parents still alive?
Are there records/documents that place her parents in the UK at the time of your mother birth?
Which passport did she use to return back to Nigeria with her parents.
What was the immigration status of her parents in the UK at the time of her birth?
Where her parent married before or after her birth?

If you can answer these questions, then I can offer useful advice either to apply for ROA or British passport.

The abuse of NHS is a serious issue, medical tourism contributed massively to that.

They need to find out if NHS has sent the bill to the address he used when completing the form at the hospital and pay for the medical bill then send the receipt to be used for visa application. Or use his NHS number to find out how to pay the bill.

Yes it will affect his visa application or entering into the UK at some point.

@DebsMed. This link explain everything. At the age your father in law is now. Definitely, his history of his past visit would be investigated including medical. Better to be honest and find out if his medicals was free or needed to be paid for.

-Letter of introduction/consent from my office

-Employment letter and contract agreement (salary is above 300k)

-covering letter from husband to assure the ECO that i will return back - including his bank statement as a backup sponsor

Visiting a family member in UK is always a tough thing to proof. It become more tough with your previous refusals from A list countries and non disclosures of your brother status in your previous UK application. The question is how do you convince the ECO that you do not have any immigration intent? Apart from all the document you listed, you will need to proof the family relationship, these including photos of you and your brother together, his birth certificate showing your parents names, emails and chats communication, etc. You can give it a try, however, it difficult for me to predict your chances. What may count for you is your financial and social home ties, that might make the ECO overlooked your pass refusals. Another thing is you will need to justify in your cover letter why your attendance is important to your brother.

1. General/Standard Visitor class
2. Training (be silenced on your brother graduation)
3. Communication between your company and the training institute, evidence of payment of training fees, evidence of hotel accommodation, evidence that the training is important to your career, evidences why you were chosen to attend, company bank statement, copy of company registration etc.
4. No. You can travel with your maiden name on your passsport. Just include your marriage certificate. Photos of wedding etc.
5. Since you are not sponsoring the trip. The bank statement of N800K is okay.
6. 6 months multiple entry
7. Maintain the previous stance for now. Or if you wish to disclose this information go ahead and enclose his British passport data page. However, answer NO that you are not going to visit him or stay with him (a long lost brother that you have just discovered is very difficult to proof )

Include a cover note to address the previous refusal of 2014. Your husband can also give a covering letter to assure the ECO that you will return back after your training, by including his bank statement as a backup sponsor.

It is optional to make flight reservation for UK visa application. There are many travel agent that can make and print out air ticket reservation for visa purpose at a cheap cost. Yes UKIV accept hotel reservations from booking.com either paid or not. The important thing is that your hotel reservation must remain valid until a decision is made on your application.

Sure, I will advised that you book an onward ticket out of the UK, print it, as you may be asked to show it at point of entry/check in. I was leaving the UK back to Switzerland after a week of holiday from Switzerland. The check in officer demanded for my onward ticket from Switzerland to Nigeria which was not with me, despite the presentation of my Swiss institution staff ID. The check-in officer then asked for my onward airline and date of departure from Switzerland and then went to confirm with the airline and printed my ticket out for me. So it safe to have the necessary documents with you just in case they demand for it.

Present the two bank accounts for the last 6 months and explain in a cover letter that you brought Tbills that matured at the end of the month leading to the lump sum of N700K. You can also include the Tbill certificates as supporting document. There is a section in the form that allows you to declare and explain additional income outside your salary. Use this section to explain your rental business with documentation.

A six month UK visa is only valid for 180 days from the date of issuance. The visa allows the holder to present himself/herself at any UK border (land, air, rail or sea) point for entry in the UK. Depending on type of entry, you can enter the UK once or multiple times during the 180 days permitted. You do not need to travel immediately if your travel plan changes as long as you used the visa before it expire. Yes you can arrive at the UK border from anywhere in the world to present you visa for entry. However, some airlines may want you to show them a return ticket out of the UK before you board. Note that unlike the USA visa, you are not allowed to stay beyond the expire date on you visa. So the earlier you utilize the visa the better for you.

There will be a UKVI stamp on the last page of your passport if the visa is denied. Obviously that stamp means that your application for visa was not approved at this time.

Why did you not submit with the other family members as a group application. As it stands now your application will be treated differently from your mum and sister own. You need to submit same document submitted by your sister showing your relationship to the invitee and the sponsor and proof of your status as a student

I have travelled to the UK 5 times, previously. I used to go annually, never spend more than a month, changed jobs and went last in 2014. I stay with the same person each time I travel (my cousin). Presently, I earn significantly lower but I still want to go on vacation, this year.

What I'm hinging on is my good travel history to the UK. I always apply for 6 months visa because that's all I need to travel each time. Sadly, this time around, you're not allowed to include previous passport; I didn't know this until submission. I learnt I was to have made copies and attached.

My questions are:
- What are my chances being that almost all other things are against me?
- Would they be able to access my previous visits or should I scan my old passport and send to them?

UKVI can assess you previous visas and visits to the UK including numbers of days spent on previous visit by simply using your biometric data, landing cards and airline passenger information. Failure to submit copies of previous passport would not be used to denied you a visa, if you are qualified to get one. You have nothing to worry about in that regard.

Unfortunately I have also seen many applicants with less than N200K salary not approved. Let’s us advices applicants that getting a UK visit visa is not only based on high salary or high bank balances. The ECO also takes into consideration the main purpose of the trip, social and economic ties to Nigeria, travel history and the probability of immigration intent. Is your filled application form and documents that speak for you, as there will be no interview, so the onus lies with the applicant to convince the ECO to approve their visa request in spite of a salary of less than 200K.

Every application is evaluated based on its own merit and the current circumstances of the applicant not to overstay their visit. Your application is hinged on an invitation to attend a friend graduation, who is not related to you. You have proposed to spend 800K which you have saved over time from your salary (about 196K) and petty business. The question is would the ECO allow you to spend this amount to undertake a visit of no economic benefit to you? If your visit was based on say to go buy goods for your shop, then that is a valid reason to spend such an amount. Remember you have kids and other dependents that also need to be taking care of while you’re away. My advise is look for more tenable reason for your visit or than this graduation thing. You can start by tiding up your business, by keeping proper account eg invoices, sales, stocking cards, Facebook business profile etc. Your suitation and purpose of visit and that of @Monchat are quite different. There is no basis for an assumption that what might have worked for @monchat will also work for you. These are my advises and you are free to either take it or not.

I don't know him personally. I met him through my cousin... He linked us up. Since then we have been communicating through charts and calls. I have never seen him before but we are getting along real good.
As for the proof, he said I should meet agents to advise me on the documents he needs to send to me for my application.

I doubt if UKVI will issue you a visit visa to go see someone you have never physically met before. If this is the main purpose of your application, be rest sured that UKVI will call your friend and ask him questions about his relationship with you, and if his answers is not good enough, you will be refused, not minding the documents he has provided. Your friend asking you to go and see an agent is more or less telling you to sort yourself out. Your best bet is to apply as a general tourist without any invite, book hotel accommodation and hope for the best. If you get the visa, then you can still see your friend and spend time with him.

If you have enough documents to show how you built up your saving to 800K. If you have proof that your sister runs your shop and she is willing to care for your kids while you are away, you can go ahead and apply. Like I said, you will need to explain all the above when completing the online application form. It is left for the ECO to weigh all the evidences and consider if to issue you a visa to attend the graduation of a friend. Good luck.

Read my post. My point is not about you going alone. My point is how would explain to the ECO the income generated from your store. Do you have sales receipts, invoice etc. How do you attend to your store if you work full time. Why is your store not registered? How old are your kids and who will take care of them in your absence? Who takes care of monthly home expenses? All this must be explain in application form.

documents submitted for first application includes: Employment histroy,letter from UK host (not same as the one inviting us now),salary bank SOA( with over a million),payslips, coop acct SOA(some money was transffered from my coop acct to my salary acct), landed property,company brochure, cover letter explaning my application & source of money etc, shares cert.,pictures from previous vacations.

You can get a cover letter from your company HR to explain why your salary is paid by cash and support it with your payslips. However, how do you plan to convince the ECO that it is reasonable and justified to spend 800K to attend a friend graduation ceremony on a salary of 196K with a wife and 2 kids. The ECO will be interested in your monthly expenses and how you have been able saved up to 800K without any additional income.

Good morning to you all. I applied for a UK Visa 11 working days ago and I made a crucial error of not doing much research before I applied. Post my application I've been reading through this site and truthfully I don't fancy my chances of having a successful application at all.

It seems I just got complacent due to my travel history and didn't put much effort into my application. I'm considering withdrawing And reworking the application for resubmission. Up to which point can you withdraw? Today is the 11th working day. Can I still withdraw if a decision has been made but I'm yet to receive my passport?

This was my application details;

Travel history:
- Been to the UK 6 times. The last time in 2014 on a 2 yr visa where I spent 5 days.

- I have a valid US Visa and visited last year in July for 14 days.

- Was in Europe (Netherlands) in August last year for 6 days.


This application;
- I applied for 2 yrs visit visa
-Reason: To attend a friend's graduation and 10 yr marriage anniversary party.

Documents submitted ( this is where I feel I erred)

- Intro letter from company ( employed for almost 10 yrs)
- 4 months salary slips
- 4 month bank statement with 3,400,00 naira balance
- Treasury bills investiment proof (7,300,000)
- invitation letter from host
- tenancy agreement from host
- passport scan of host and wife
- marriage certificate of host and wife

That's it. Reading through the site i've realised where my application is lacking;

- I didn't add any proof of our friendship/relationship
- I indicated my trip will cost me 2,300 pounds. This is because I intend to do a lot of shopping but I didn't state this in trip reasons. Considering a trip duration of 16 days with no accommodation costs this seems quite high. I earn 520,000 a month.
- I'm 34, single with no landed property or dependants.

What do you guys think? Are my chances ok and it too late to withdraw now. I'm seriously considering withdrawing and adding the proof of relationship as well as having my host get graduation invitation.

I don’t feel you should withdraw the application. You have good travel history to the UK and the fund for the ECO to overlook these lapses. I will suggest that you wait for the decision. If it’s negative and the reasons are based on these lapses, you can easily correct it and reapply. Having said that, you are permitted to withdraw you application at anytime before a decision is made. However, you will not get a refund. Refund are only possible before your appointment and biometric collection.

I came to uk on 2yrs tier 4 visa 2014. I switched over to EU spouse family member year 2016 with uk residence issued March 2016. Just want to know if i can apply for uk Permanent Ressidence card by Jan 2019 because i will be 5yrs in uk by then though my uk residence permit is still valud till March 2021. My wife will be 5yrs in uk by October and think of applying both for the uk Permanent residence.

The EU spouse 5 years residence card is issued under Arricle 10 of the european laws. This is quite different from UKVI immigration laws, you switched off from. So I do not know if you can get your PR despite staying up to five years. I would suggest that you seek the opinion of a UK based immigration lawyer.

Why would you plan to visit and stay with a friend for six months? Do you realize how much it will cost him to accommodate and feed you for that duration. Would your employer in Nigeria permit you to be away for six month? What economic and social home ties do you have? Are you married, do you have kids? Do you have properties in Nigeria? Have you travel out of the country before? All these are assessed when issuing visit visa and not just your bank balance only. If you don’t your home work well and put in 6 months stay in your application, you will be refuse as this sound as a potential immigration intent.

Well your chances will depend on the purpose of your visit. If you got a business invitation by a business partner from the UK, then your chances are high. All you need is the required documentation to show that all this funds are yours and that you have paid taxes on them.

Technically it is possible as it’s is the prerogative of the applicant to choice which visa category and duration. However, in practice you’re advised to start with 6 months and progress to 2 years, 5 years and utilmately 10 years. Only the ECO has the final say to approve. I have seen cases of approval for less visa duration than applied for. You travel history may count, but you must be a high profile personality well know locally and internationally to get 2 years UK visit visa at first attempt.

It is the applicant choice to either pick 6 months or 2 years depending on your ability to pay the visa fees. It is left for the ECO to either approve it or not. You can go for 2 years if your immigration history with the UKVI is good.

Not possible. For your kids to school in the UK, they must have study visa. A two years visiting visa does not necessarily means that a visitor can stay for two years!! In fact you can only stay for a maximum of 180 days on visitor visa regardless of the number of years on the visa sticker.
