monchat: Ps house kindly assist me in my question. I don’t think your friend was denied because of the family visa category. Nevertheless a family visa is when you have an invite from a family member to visit. A tourist visa does not necessarily requires an invitation. So your friend is right to choice family visit. A family visitor must have a family member in the UK which can be a spouse, siblings, parents, or close and distance relatives. A tourist visitor may or may not have any family member in the UK but must have credible travel history. |

Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 11:12am On Jun 08, 2018 |
chomc: So you reckon it won’t be an issue considering this is a reapplication addressing previous refusal. I am just concerned they might wonder why I took off previously submitted document? Just simply say in your cover letter that the ECO concern was that you did not have sufficient fund in your current account to sponsor your sister trip. Now you are providing another account statement with a closing balance of ££££ to show that you have sufficient the fund. That the funds in your saving account comes from so so and so so sources. Why re submit a current bank statement that further justify the position of the ECO refusal. A re application is not an admistrative review. You are entitled to provide new documents to push your current case. |

Should I remove the current acc from the reapplication In my own opinion Yes. The UK sponsor only need to show evidence of availability of funding for the sponsorship (adequate bank balance, payslips and work contract etc). The applicant being sponsored must also show evidence of sufficient home ties not to over stay in the UK. |

why is this so, please can you explain more.
All children born to non Irish parents after 1st January 2005 cannot be issued Irish passport. Ireland has put a stop to the issuance since this date. This is a product of Irish Immigration Act 2004. This is similar to UK immigration Act of 1982. So any child born in Ireland on or after January 2005, will not have automatic citizenship, unless if one of the child parent is Irish Citizen or about to become one British Citizen Non-National with Permanent Residency in Ireland Non-National with Permanent Residency in the UK You read more from this link. http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/NoticeCBI.pdf/Files/NoticeCBI.pdf |

Please go to INIS website and read about applying for visitor visa. This will give you an idea of the documentation you need to submit with your application. I can’t give an amount you should have in your account. You have to work out your travel expenses including flight tickets, hotel accomodation, travel insurances, feeding etc. |

BabaOman: @ekpotek, Please advise: as per your advice; flight to Birmingham will cost me more than another 100k than going to London Heathrow. Will I spend up to 100k from the latter to Leicester? Pleas advise. @justwise Nope. From Heathrow Airport London you can get to Leicester (direct) by Coach (£40 euro) or less if you buy online now. You can also take a train from London St Pancras international Station to Leicester (off peak) for about €70. If you decide to use the train, then take the London Underground from Heathrow Airport to the train station. |

Is there any other thing I should be aware of? Do they check phones? Or any other things. I’m a first timer and I’m so anxious!
Thank you sir and thank you all. There is nothing to be worried about. Just arrive at the airport on time for checking in. You can carry your phone on you and personal/travel document in your cabin luggage. They may need to examine them at POE. Enjoy your trip. |

the purpose is for vacation. yes i have relatives i will be staying with but i wont be stating that in the application i will state it that i would be spending 5 days but i will most likely spend 10days
The trip is for july flight ticket tentatively 300k hotel 50k transportation 10k sightseeing and shopping 100k feeding 40k Since your last refusal. Have you travel out of the country to other places on vacation? If you have relative declared it in the application but say you will not visit or stay with them. Look for low budget hotel for 10 days such as Airbnb to stay. Going on a vacation for 5 days to burn 500K is highly unreasonable and ECO will see through this, for an applicant on a salary of 200K!! Couple this with 2 kids and other family expenses at home. How can you justified spending this much? A reasonable vacation is at least 10 days. Ask your relative to provide documents to support accommodation and cut your expenses to N350K - N400K (flight + shopping/local transport). If I am going to burn 500K to go see the Theresa May for 5 days, then I must have some won naijabet |

chomc: Do you mean if I scan my bank statements down and they print them in A4 TLS will accept even though they are not original ? No document is collected or retain by TLS. All document wether original, photocopy or scan are transmitted directly from TLS office to UKVI using high speed scanning machine and documents returned to the applicant. Sometimes those TLS people can suggest to applicant which document to scan and other not necessary. Impress on your sister to insist that all her supporting documents be scanned and should be very observant during the scanning process. |

Olowogbogboro17: Hello All,
Someone noticed the highlighting on AN INTERVIEW WITH YOUR SPONSOR on my refusal letter.
Does this indicate an issue or its normal?
cc: ekpotek Simply means that they called your sponsor to interview him about your application. Find out from your sponsor if they did call him and what was his response. If not, then it means they tried calling but did not reach him. Lesson: Your sponsor should be updated about you. My young brother visit visa was denied on the account my sister who’s British Citizen in the UK could not answer certain questions about his brother that she was offering to accommodate. |

Seynex01: She is 14 years, yes, she got an irish passport, yes the forster parrent knows, i communicate with her through the foster parent....i am married with kids, i work in a reputable firm. And my niece still have a grandmother, who happens to be my mom. Thanks Okay. She is a minor so she cannot invite you. You can apply for a visit visa at INIS website. Request for an invitation letter from her foster parents stating clearly the purpose of the visit and its importance. If there are willing to provide accomodation, they will have to submit utility bills as proof of address, if not book a hotel. The application is online and at the end you will see the list of document to submit with your application. You will need to show evidences of your relationship to your nieces and her mother such photos, letters, emails, death certificate etc. Also you will need to submit bank statement as proof of funds, letter from your work places and documents concerning social life like marriage certificate, kids birth certificate etc. |

mavinc4u: Oh my word, the hotel am using for reservation is not where I want to stay because where I want to stay does not have room for reservation. Please how do I handle this? Which ever hotel you finally decide to stay, after getting your visa, declare it in your landing card at POE and you'll be fine. At most if the POE are in doubt, they will ask to see a copy of the reservation or call the hotel to confirm. |

mavinc4u: please are you saying one will have issues if he applys for visa with a hotel reservation A but later finds a better option to use hotel B after the visa has been granted? When asked at POE where you will be staying during your visit. You can tell them this story. Read my post again, admission into the UK at POE is in the hands of officers there, wether you have a valid visa or not. If you’re caught to have misinformed UKVI to get a visa, your visa will be cancelled and you will be on the next flight back to Nigeria. |

I plan to visit my bank to get updated statement and then scan it in colour to my sister to print. not sure if TLS wil accept it? Any ideas please. I am hoping she can resubmit next weeks. Don’t want to pay for DHL which is usually too expensive TLS will accept only document that is A4 sized. So all documents must be submitted in A4 either original, photocopy, or scan. |

I have an irish niece, whose mother is my elder sister and we lost her to death few years ago....while in the hospital, the welfare officer in charge my sister and her child did sent us(family) invitation letter to come visit her at the hospital. Due to the mix up in process my other sister who was suppose to go was refused visa and my sister in dublin passed on..... My niece is in the forster home, we call her as offten as we can and she misses us alot, cos she is been here in nigeria 3times before her mother became sick and eventually passed away.
How do we get the process done? Your advise will be very appreciated.... How old is your niece now? Does she has an Irish passport? Where is she staying in a foster home? Does the foster parent knows that she has a uncle in Nigeria? What is your economic and social ties to Nigeria. Your honest answers to these questions will enable me to advise better. |

obaxlove: So meaning I should extend my hotel reservation to tally with my return flight details abi? Or I should just leave the 4 nights reservation. You can still maintain the current resevation. If asked at POE why are staying beyong 4 days, just smile and politely, state that you will be extending your reservation on site (hotel) as you will like to do some shopping and sight seeing before you return back to Nigeria. Beside you have a travel grant, so the ECO will understand. But make sure you declare how long you intend to stay on your landing card. |

chomc: Many thanks for your response. Trust me ekpetek I have sponsored a few and even worse applications withut issues and I can be pretty detailed. My invitation letter clearly stated evidence of funds and my saving account was mentioned. As one. I only added my salary account to back up the payslips which I know is a requirement.
So the ECO completely disregarding it unreal to me. It’s my account . It’s not a business account . It wasn’t even mentioned. Which makes me feel he/she didn’t see it.
The 750k income is her salary also they haven’t mentioned she received 1.2m annually from her husband or is that not an income. These was all clearly stated on the app and the supporting info section. . Her business makes way over that. She just doesn’t build her savings but alas I stated I am fully sponsoring. She didn’t include the sole signatory doc because she isn’t sponsoring herself . And mo money is being taken from the business account which has over 3 million at the time.
I plan to reapply tonight and add a complaint . Can I use the same sets of docs. She only applied 3 weeks ago and all docs have either may 2o18 date or last week April.
I plan to reprint my savings account and scan it down to her in colour.
I am happy to ask her to obtain the letter of sole signatory from the bank . But again this isn’t a requirement as far as I am concerned. She isnt spending from that account. She only added it there to back up her business
What’s your take on using the same set of docs. I hope to get her an appointment slot early next week . But will re apply tonight You will need to update your documents to make it current or the ECO will have another excuse to refuse. Sure you can point out the omissions by the ECO, but complaining or unnecessary confrontation will not solve the issue. I have seen people applications kept in limbo until the purpose of the visit is defeated. Lessons: never provide document that make your case complicated. |

iyatrustee: For clarity sake, are you saying if i used hotel reservation to get my visa and eventually stayed with a friend during the trip, there will be issues during subsequent application? Even when i dont stay longer than the number of days stated in the application? Yes if the UKVI finds out. You are required in the application to state if you are going to visit/stay with someone or not. Note your visa only allows you to present yourself at POE. It is not a guarantee that you will be cleared to enter. That power lies on the hand of POE officers. Many have been put of the next avaliable plane back to Nigeria and their visa cancelled for make such silly mistakes. |

chomc: Seeking your opinion on this refusal cos I am just supper disappointed.
I am a BC invited/stated I will be sponsoring my sister to the UK to be with my whilst I go through a CS section. my senior sister runs her own business (a primary and secondary school) doing well. She provided all docs. Lives with husban and grown children who all attend schoo in Nigeria.
So I provided all necessary docs to support her application including saving account of over £16,000 and them my salary account
From the refusal it seems to me the main reason is that I don’t have enough money to sponsor . It’s impossible. I provided my savings account with £16k bal. I have a very good job and warn quite well . But the letter only mentioned my salary account that I leave little money in. I am not mad to supply just that. It’s there to list tally up with my payslips.
What do I do. I have successfully sponsored applications without this sort of issue. Could it be that they didn’t see the saving account I supplied and even stated on the invitation letter? Or could it be the TLS people didn’t scan it
Should I reapply . I can fight this through my MP from here. But I need my sister her in by 26 July . Cos my Operation is then.
Please let me know your thoughts . I can reapply. Just lavishing money over peoples mistakes. From the refusal letter. I will say this is a case of a badly filled application form with insufficient documentation. You will need to correct the following if your sister plans to reapply. Source of funding. It is not just enough to provide two bank account statements. The onus is on the applicant to state which of the account will be used for funding and why. You should have just provided your saving bank statement only. The ECO is right to only have considered just your current account as your saving is personal to you. Sister economic tie. If your sister runs a school that is profitable, how come that all she make in a year is 750K. Is this her salary or what? She need to clarify this in the application form. If she not a sole signatory to business account, then she must get the persmission of other directors to use that account. Or get a letter from her bank confirming that she has fully authorization over the business account. Even though your sister is coming on your invitation, she must convince the ECO that she has economic and social ties to return back after the visit. These are my thoughts. |
