lmao @ that thread arole_odua is my nig |
moremi2008: Is this a trend? The Christian thieves go to Israel and the muslim ones go to Saudi Arabia? Do they think God will treat them more kindly at these places? What happened to getting treatment in good old London or the US?Cheaper in Israel perhaps? I dunno, maybe someone else knows.. |
However, as I suspected, looks like it is relative poverty which that guy is quoting, not absolute or just $/day. The latter two are more interesting to me. I think the former can be skewed by just having a higher average in your zone. Will see if I can find the #s.. |
Lmao I missed that thread. |
koruji: Why does the FG need to educate Almajiris? It is the purview of state governments.Well said |
Kobojunkie: If only they all do not come back when they leave on these trips outside Nigeria for treatment.Heh |
You can learn almost any basic topic in 5 months pretty decently... It isn't like it takes a decade to become competent with any programming language |
Then how did it go from molasses slow to reasonably fast? |
ttt |
yes |
Why would it be extreme? |
Can this be put into place? Would be nice to automatically not display posts of people you put on an ignore list. |
The surprise of so many on here about this outcome makes me wish I could have gambled with you guys regarding the outcome... |
Good for her. I dislike her less that I used to these days |
I think anyone can. You just need to open up an account with a investment company. Perhaps one in Nigeria will allow you to buy foreign stock. If not, then open up an account with one in the UK or US. |
lmao all three of these guys registered the same day lol |
OAM4J: Can somebody advice me on how to get the house sit over the dispute between me and my girlfriend.abi o, lol |
Procreation is a responsibility, not a right. When you bring kids into the world, you owe them certain things. Having more kids than you can afford is irresponsible.. |
dayokanu: Just like in Mathematics and Engineering, Men outnumber womenGiven wom more time. They've been kicking men's azzes in the biosciences despite being a minority in it 30 or 40 years ago. Who is to say they won't start kicking men's azzes in engineering and math 30-40 years from now? Regarding your "life" comment, i guess it depends on what group of people you are talking about. But for white collar sort of work, women are in no intrinsically inferior. |
Again.....nobody who is advocating population control is advocating some mass sterilization/elimination of Nigeria's population. Nchara/nanos seemed to be confused about this point, and it appears that he is not the only one. Reduce population growth to something more reasonable like 1-1.5% per year is basically what I'm saying, not negative pop growth. |
I think the point people are making about industrialization and pop is that an increased access to jobs brought about via industrialization might reduce the need to have more kids. Hence slowing down pop. Growth. This can be true. 1. If industrialization lead to more women getting jobs, and it should (a) they will marry much later (b) be less dependent on men (c) have less time or motivation to raise a bunch kids This (1) example is already true in highly industrialized countries in Europe and North America. There are tons of research and examples proving this to be so.
I was under the impression that women getting married later/having kids later was due to more education? Not more jobs for women? Can you link to any study suggesting that industrialization alone => lower pop growth? 2. Industrialization cannot exist in a vaccum, I'm certain other things like access to education and information, will accompany it or even catalyze it, those factors are known to cause attitudinal changes which can lead to better family planning.Eh...again, how do you know that industrialization is responsible for the lower pop growth, rather than say the family planning you mentioned? Having said that, yes, we cannot achieve much if we don't proactively enforce birth control policies. All these things have to work together, I'm not certain one single factor can fix this.I'm not against industrialization. I am for it. But I am also for family planning. And I don't think that they are the same thing. The divide argument:The divide argument doesn't really make any sense...PhysicsQED's seems to one more of perception. E.g., three 60 mil pop countries looks less bad than one 180 mil country or something. But it doesn't really solve the issue. I'm also pro dividing Nigeria btw...but again, this in and of itself doesn't solve excessively high population growth. In a nutshell, the best to solve this problem is to solve it directly (family planning/birth control) rather than hoping some other indirect route also solves it. |
nanos: The muslims in the North and their muslim brothers in Yorubaland are the ones balloning the population.Ah, Nchara. Who else so frequently edits their post after you've debunked their point? ![]() Well I'll quote you next time you say something foolish, so this doesn't happen again. |
Military or construction ke. Yes, men are better than women at manual labor. But manual labor isn't that valuable these days... OK, but what about biology and chemistry. Women outnumber men in those subjects, as far as I know. Women are in no way inferior to men mentally, that much I know.. |
Eh. Population control != negative population growth. Just diminished pop growth. Regarding the US a) Pop growth is relatively low b) The country is the 4th largest on earth by land area, yet only has 300 million people. For comparison with Nigeria, less than 2X the population, but more than 10X the area. Dunno what the point of comparing with the US is..two very different situations |
