Mister Ikpa knew even more: "Adekunle does not like journalists. He had a man from England who disagreed with him shaved bald, do an hour of push-ups, and write one-thousand times: I am a crappy Englishman and don’t have a say in Nigeria".
STERN: Are you racist? STERN: But why are you refusing to discuss this war with a European?Hehe I am liking Adekunle more and more |
Heh. Kudos to Niger Republic. If I were them though I wouldn't subsidize petrol. Or if you do, always make the final consumer price higher than whatever the price in Nigeria is. That way you can benefit from the Nigerian subsidy too. |
Never knew the guy, but heard good things about him. R. I. P. |
Isn't a waste. Well-educated stay at home is really beneficial for the educational development of kids. Kids with stay at home doctor moms will probably turn out really well. |
mtaj:To quote Kanye, that ish crazy, lol. Didn't know people were carrying their naija beef to Canada and such |
dayokanu:Russians, Germans, Japanese all suffered terribly in that war. Didn't the Soviet Union lose 10+ million men? Japanese had 2 nuclear frikking bombs dropped on them. Yet today they are America's best friend. Or maybe Adekunle is more frightening and devastating than two nuclear bombs and all the military might of both the Soviet Union and the Allies. Let me never hear anyone complain about Adekunle again |
In a nutshell, if Adekunle is some evil dude, then so is Uncle Sam and the rest of the allied forces in WW2, so were the allies in WW1, so was Napoleon, so was Abraham Lincoln, etc. You cannot hold him to a higher moral standard than everyone else. Boggles me mind that anyone can say he is a war criminal when the US dropped two nukes on Japan, the US locked up all of its Japanese-American citizens in internment camps, the British firebombed Dresden, etc. |
I'm even wondering. So you'd have preferred what the US did to Japan to what Adekunle did to Biafra? I'd much rather suffer at the hands of the Black Scorpion than 2 nuclear bombs, personally |
oko biafra lmao Anyway, it is what it is. Adekunle, Sherman, the Americans who nuked Japan, etc, etc all the same thing, same concept. Total war. In other words, ain't a video game |
oyb:Heh. Old Testament God was a tough customer.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts , go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and Bottom.
Can you imagine God commanding you to do that? Kind of crazy. |
^-- Scala is pretty damn mature. It compiles to java bytecode, was invented by the guy who wrote one of the java compilers, and is used in production by Twitter (and a few other notable companies/startups.) Dunno what else you need to convince you that it is an industrial-strength language. At topic: I think if you are a programmer and already have experience with a LISP of some sort (e.g. scheme that they teach in intro CS classes), you may be more attracted to Clojure. If you don't have previous functional programming experience, you'll probably prefer Scala's syntax. Me personally, I hate all this ((((((((()))))))))))))))))))) syntax that these LISPs have. Though I hear you eventually get used to it. |
By Wale Adepoju 6 hours 46 minutes ago Font size: Patients with heart problems no longer have to travel abroad for treatment. The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has started conducting major heart surgeries. The hospital started open heart surgery in January, last year with several cardiac missions between 2004 and 2009. According to the Head of LASUTH Cardiac Team, Dr. Bode Falase, major heart surgeries can now be carried out in the hospital. Falase, who spoke at the flag-off of the open heart surgery, said the government is interested and committed to the surgery, adding that it has completed an ultra-modern Cardio-Renal Centre at Gbagada. It is to be opened soon. On the cost of surgery, Falashe said, it is between N1 million and N1.5million per patient, pleading with corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations and individuals to come to the aid of people living with heart problems. A Consultant Cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore, Dr. Rehan Sayeed, said Nigeria should empower its primary health care system to enable citizens at the grassroots access health care, adding that the personnel at the Primary Health care Centers (PHC) must be well-educated. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/health/27864-lasuth-begins-major-heart-surgery.html |
Subsistence farmers will farm on any land they can find. Whether they have legal title or not. Not even just in Nigeria alone, in Brazil too the amazon rain forest is rapidly depleting in part due to the activity of farmers ![]() So that they were farming in a forest doesn't mean anyone gave them permission to do so. At the same time, even though they aren't legally in the right, it is a bit complicated. Perhaps the farmers feel that the land is communal property and that anyone should be able to use it. And sometimes these lands that are privatized or end up in government hands do so "mysteriously", let me put it that way. There aren't really any easy answers here. |
A good move. If they make it transparent (especially the financials), I'd be happy to contribute and encourage my friends to do so also. |
Btw, I strongly hope that aliens don't exist, or humans never meet them if they do. If they are advanced enough to explore space and reach earth, then that means they are way ahead of us tech-wise. Nothing good for humans can come from a technology/power disparity like that. |
mental illness is terrible. As prominent as her family is, you think they'd have gotten the help for her that she needs (assuming this story isn't completely made up, that is.) |
the question has been answered already. it isn't a matter of hate. when you go to war, you seek to utterly destroy your opponent. war isn't about playing pattycake or picking daisies with the other side. |
Aigbofa:lmao ![]() |
All of that may very well be true, but doesn't detract from the point I made. |
book from 2009 old? books don't fall out of usefulness that quickly |
naija is a very depressing country |
I spent about 30 seconds googling and found a link for the Ruby 1.9 book: http://harmaty.net/files/ruby_books/ enjoy |
Nchara:They looted the treasury of the Midwest region in their retreat. Millions in hard currency stolen, evidently. Spend 3 minutes looking and you'll find several accounts. |
lmao Dk, you are killing me here man ![]() |
People seem to be confusing war with tea parties. Even in sports, the best mentality is to seek to utterly destroy your opponent (unless they submit, or have quit.) |
One big downside with ruby is that at least judging from NL, it doesn't seem to be very popular amongst Nigerians. So if you like being able to get programming training in Nigeria, meet others in naija etc, there are less resources available than say PHP. However, since presumably you have internet access, there is a big international community and tons of documentation you can access. |
afam4eva:I only commented to clarify for jason123's sake. In case you haven't noticed, I don't really pay any attention to your posts or remarks. Jason, looks like Lafarge does 4.5 million+ (or at least, this is my interpretation of the sentence): https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-706728.0.html So that is 10.5 million+ for Ogun State. Which state produces more? |
iGravity:Dunno how I missed this post of yours. Get in touch we me if you are still interested. I have more ideas for small interesting things than I have time, so would definitely love to have collaborators. |
I said ruby before, and I stand by that. |
Which state produces more cement than Ogun? Ibeshe has a capacity of 6 million tons per year. I don't know off-hand the capacity of Lafarge's sites in Ogun. But what other states are contenders? And of those, which produces more? |
I recognize the good that he is doing, but just am not convinced it outweighs the evil. Anyway, who is to say in a liberalized economy we wouldn't even get more investment? |
