PhonesRe: Do Cellphones Make Us Antisocial ? by ektbear: 7:08pm On Dec 27, 2012
I dunno. I like cell phones, I think they make socializing easier. Especially text messaging.

I've lost lots of useful #s because rather than entering them into my phone directly, I wrote them on some scrap of paper (which I subsequently misplaced).

angry birds is on just about every medium - except the wii angry angry
I don't play games much at all, I guess. Most of the time I'd spend on that stuff is spent browsing different online forums, reading newspapers online, or neflixing.

I want to get a tablet also...love my droid, but want a bigger screen.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Apology To Jarus And OAM4J by ektbear: 3:31pm On Dec 26, 2012
Desola's point is solid. The long and short of it seems to be that no longer are NL elections going to represent the wishes of those who voted.

There will be a third party that arbitrarily decides outcomes contrary to election results.

Idi-Amin or Babangida style..
Nairaland GeneralRe: Apology To Jarus And OAM4J by ektbear: 3:04pm On Dec 26, 2012
oyb: like i stated before - going forward lets have the NL seun osewa awards

where admin gets to unilaterally issue out nairalander of the year, section poster of the year, hall of fame, shame , dame and whatever else,

At topic though, I don't think pickup lines work.

Or rather, they don't matter. If a girl is feeling you, it almost doesn't matter what comes out of your mouth.

And if she isn't, then no pickup line in the world will work.

Ain't got nothing to do with that.

PoliticsRe: The Shamefulness Of The Politics Section Hall Of Shame by ektbear: 7:19pm On Dec 24, 2012
manny4life: 1. The party equivalent is NL as a whole. There was NEVER opportunity for NL in general to vet upon their background that will decide if the nomination committee will decide to pick up or drop certain list based upon majority. This case was more so, people who decided he did wrong and cast vote for him, the majority couldn't alter his name from the ballot, and you call that a democratic process?
So before people vote on who wins the NL Hall of Shame, nairalanders a whole should also vote to see if the nominee is legitimate? grin

What is the point of that roundabout process? Why not have people just vote once, rather than twice? Nobody does the roundabout procedure you are suggesting anywhere in the world.

Look, anybody should be qualified to be nominated, so long as they meet the qualifications.

Do you also suggest this strange procedure for ALL elections on Nairaland? Or just this particular one for hall of shame?

2. I was about to bring up "PROPOSITION" , but I'm glad you said that first. Propositions are introduced so that the people can decide what they really want a certain case goes before a ballot. In this case, was a proposition introduced keeping in mind that there was "SIGNIFICANT OPPOSITION", YET, the polls went ahead.

3. No rules where violated because there was democratic rules set in place. You cannot violate something that's nonexistent, wouldn't it make sense to say "there are no democratic rules" we claim to have"? There was an overwhelming support for Mr. Achebe, YET, no proposition such

NL Proposition 1-122512(I used today date)
Case - Literal Author, Chinua Achebe - should he be on the shame list (YES/NO)

At least let NL majority decide, and if after the majority wins, depending on YES/NO, that will determine if he's name is dropped or not.
Using your suggestion, then so long as a candidate has 50%+ of Nairalanders who support him, he won't be nominated. I'm guessing that GEJ wouldn't have made it last year, for example.

See, this is the whole r3tarded thing about Seun's argument, that a majority of people support Achebe.

Fine, let's say that 60% of Nairalanders and Nigerians support him. But that 40% strongly oppose him.

If he has the highest "strongly oppose" # of all of the candidates, and all others are below 40%, then isn't it logical for Achebe to win the hall of shame?

How can one use the people who LIKE a person to determine who wins hall of shame? It makes zero sense.

Imagine, if he treats unpaid labor like this, people who have donated literally hundreds of free hours of work to his private business, how does he treat people he actually pays?

Seun is probably one of those Nigerians who beats up his house help.
