ba7man: How bout this school of thot...What if evolution was actually God's way of fine-tuning his creations to their current state?? At least i belive humans and animals didn't magically appear on Earth. So i can say that human beings might hav existed b4 Adam and Eve but they were the first to have the spirit of God in them. Also, a day in the sight of God can be a Thousand in the sight of man so that explains a lot of things.
Sure, that works.

Adult Men
According to the National Strength and Conditioning Association, men 21 years and older should be able to perform five to nine strict pull-ups on average; anything less than five is considered poor. Performing 13 or more pull-ups is considered excellent.

So I am starting to suspect that my form was poor, if they consider 13 "excellent." Anyway, we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I'm not sure that the ones I did counted though...evidently you have to get your chin above the bar. I had my head at the bar.

I did 3 sets of 10 a few days ago.

I'll try to max out tomorrow and report how many I do.

Foreign AffairsRe: China Is Better For Africa Than The West by ektbear: 4:44am On Jan 15, 2013
free13: Yes gold, oil, cocoa.......etc, but remember talk is cheap. What has happened to all these resources in individual african states; NOTHING. Oil in nigeria, iron and copper in congo, diamonds in freetown etc. Independent African states are weak. You do not bring a bunch of weak states together and then expect them to become strong. That is like bringing 52 one week old babies together and expecting them to walk, because they are large in number. It is impossible, a one week old baby will never be able to walk, never. Whether they are 5,10,15 or 52. Its really not about numbers.
Each African state should be able to sustain itself first and i mean - infastructure, health, education, economy etc. Look at what the EU is going through, because it allowed weak states into the union. Africa should not fall into such a trap. Having a large number of states lumped together will not save africa.
Correct yarn

fellis: @centje,
mutation is helpful in some cases. The resistance which bacteria develop to antibiotics for example is as a result of replication by mutated bacteria.
Another example: The mutation that allows us to drink milk as adults.

As a chocolate milk addict, I am very glad that this happened cheesy

FashionRe: Kim Kardashian Or Sylvia Nduka.: Who Wore It Better by ektbear: 9:33pm On Jan 14, 2013
The only reason why anyone is voting for Kim K in this is because she is more famous.

Objectively, Sylvia Nduka looks way hotter/better in this dress.

And I say this as a Kim K fan..

Kim K looks good in the dress, but Sylvia Nduka looks better.

Damn, she has a nice rack
PoliticsRe: Who Created Neanderthals? by ektbear: 7:21am On Jan 14, 2013
Regarding evolution, it makes an enormous amount of sense to me, even just from observing the similaries between different types of creatures on earth, or speciation that has happened within the past 100-200 years.

Heck, even the way human beings took wolves and bred them into different types of dogs, from large greyhound into tiny chihuahua makes me strongly believe in evolution.

Big bang...I don't know enough to bet my life on it.

With all that said, i still consider myself a Christian. (Yes, I recognizing that believing in both the Bible and in evolution is probably contradictory....but such is life grin )
PoliticsRe: Who Created Neanderthals? by ektbear: 7:17am On Jan 14, 2013
Neanderthals and modern man are very distant cousins in a sense.

Btw, it isn't as if Neanderthals were completely wiped out...Europeans have a bit of their DNA.

Looks like we did some r@ping of Neanderthal women back in the day...

Yep...usually easy to tell or guess someone's race by their accent on the phone. Black English is different from white English, both in accent and word choices.

How exactly does it work? I have heard bits and pieces from my parents about how their folks used to believe that person X was some other person born again, things like that.

Can anyone share their own knowledge of it, or books describing what our ancestors believed regarding it?
