Have they been sniffing crack? |
COMPAQ:+1000 Aregbesola needs to tell us where the money for this tuition decrease will come from. werepeLeri:Better to spend money on education than overpaid, lazy and unproductive civil servants. |
In this engineering class I'm a teaching assistant for, how can zero of the faces be from Africa? Iran, the various Chinese countries and India are well represented. This does not bode well for the future, at all. |
^-- I am starting to come to the conclusion that guys like Fstranger with their backwards thinking are what is holding Nigeria back. How can a country like Iran with all the disadvantages it has and half the population be one that will dominate Nigeria academically in every way? It is embarrassing and frankly shameful. Giant of Africa, midget of planet earth. Foolish people who want the government to destroy the effort of private business in the name of "equality" are what has ruined this country. |
![]() So the bank stock I bought 4 years ago, on top of being worth less money due to Sanusi, is also worth less due to exchange rate. Bleh |
I posed this problem (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-752857.0.html#msg9107748) to a friend. Out of our discussions of it, she then came up with two other puzzles that I thought were interesting, which neither of us know the answer to. #1 I have N sorted lists, each of length M. How much time does it take me to produce an N times M sized sorted list which contains all the numbers? At first I thought you could do something cool where you where you wind up and down each list and can sort in NM time. Then I realized this isn't possible (or at least, I don't see how to do it. If you know of a way, let me know.) You could also do a sort of simple thing which sorts in (NM)log(NM) time (using quicksort, mergesort or some other sort algorithm.) But this doesn't take advantage of the additional information you have. She came up with an algorithm that can do N^2 log(M) (See if you can figure out how she did this! It is kind of cool, or at least cool to me as a non-expert on this type of stuff.) However, is it possible to do better than this O(N^2 log(M)) algorithm of hers? (One comment about this. Notice that for her solution, when N=M, you are doing no better than the obvious solution which doesn't use any information, since O(N^2 log(N)) = O(N^2 log(N^2)) So it might be possible to do much better than the solution she had. If so, I'm not sure how.)#2 What if the lists are sorted in both directions? That is, not only is each list sorted, but also we have that the 1st element of each list is sorted, 2nd list sorted, etc. Can you take advantage of this additional information to do better than N^2 log(M)? We thought about this for a while, but couldn't come up with an answer (both of us are non-experts at this type of game.) (Well, there is a sort of easy thing you can do just using her solution for #1 and picking which direction you want to go. This will give you the smaller of N^2 log(M) and M^2 log(N).) (BTW just to be clear what I mean when I say the lists are sorted in both directions, I mean that if the lists like this: L_1 = (First number of L_1, Second number of L_1, Third number of L_1. . ., Nth number of L_1 ) L_2 = (First number of L_2, Second number of L_2, Third number of L_2. . ., Nth number of L_1) . . . L_M = (First number of L_M, Second number of L_M, Third number of L_M. . ., Nth number of L_1) Then not only is the list L_1 sorted in increasing order, but we also have that the first numbers of each list are sorted, second number of each list sorted, etc.) |
My cousin is a dentist. Offer enough money and she will leave Lagos to fix teeth in Adamawa ![]() |
^-- Keep chattering nonsense, and watch as you are dominated academically by countries 1/2 (Iran) and 1/30th (Singapore) of your size. 160+ million people, and in a class I am teaching this term, zero from the entire continent. Serious problem in Nigeria and Africa more generally, and people like you want to bury their heads in the sand, or play some stupid game of "cyber-Nigerians." |
I've seen some stuff over the past couple of weeks that made me very sad about Nigeria and Africa's education in general Something needs to be done. The current approach is not working at all. |
He is the original amala politician, no? |
@paragonpro has said what needs to be said on nuclear vs. conventional. Really no good argument for it, for Nigeria. |
manny4life:It is only "cleanest" or "greenest" if you ignore disposal costs. And how is it safer than generating electricity from natural gas, coal or hydro? |
manny4life:1. Reference for "safest?" In what sense is it "safest?" 2. Do you still think it will be "safest" when managed by the Nigerian FG? 3. Why nuclear when you have the top 10 largest NG reserves on earth? It isn't as if Nigerian is a resource-poor nation. |
Very interesting. |
On what planet should Fashola serve as VP to Sanusi of all people? I'm not sure he should be VP to anyone, truth be told Then again political realities might say otherwise. But if pure merit were the metric, he is VP to no one |

Posted at 20/09/2011 05:32 AM | Updated at 20/09/2011 05:32 AM By Anne Edo, Benin BARELY few weeks after Nosa Adams, the Edo State publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dumped the party for the Action Congress Party of Nigeria (ACN), former national publicity secretary of PDP has also left along with hundreds of his followers. Mr. Henry Idahagbon, member of PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), former Chairman, Egor Local Government, former Commissioner for Lands and Survey was received into the ACN in Benin City, recently. He commended Governor Oshiomhole for his determination to transform Edo State in all facets of life. ‘Since you came into office we saw a determined and consistent attempt by this government to transform the state in all facets of life. As a member of the PDP, I never failed to acknowledge it. I am happy some of the people who used to ask me then, are in ACN now? I am happy they are all here to receive me,’ he said. Idahagbon who described the administration of Oshiomhole as people-oriented, noted that the government is providing 'the greatest happiness to the greatest number of people'. 'You are bringing happiness to the people in the area of road construction and health management. We are seeing the wonderful construction of a new Central Hospital and the schools in Edo State are now better than private schools,’ he said. Apart from Oshiomhole’s attempt to transform Edo in the last twenty years, Idahagbon said the governor’s ‘one man one vote’ campaign has become a mantra. He castigated the PDP for not adhering to the principle of ‘one man one vote’. ‘As progressives, we are admiring you from afar, but it got to a level where we can no longer admire you from afar, since we have to join your administration and support it,’ Idahagbon said. In his response, Governor Oshiomhole said it was a pleasure for him to be part of those welcoming the defectors. ‘You are bringing on board a lot of creditability behind you and I believe our party will be stronger for it. We know you are an asset to ACN,’ he said. The governor, who said the greatest weapon against god-fatherism is performance, urged the people to be committed and work for the success of the party. According to him, ‘the greatest weapon for us to sustain our control of this state is not in sponsored writings but in performance in which the people are the witnesses. I can assure you that we are committed to sustaining what we have started and with you joining us, we will be more audacious.’ In a related development, impressed by the giant strides and monumental developments in Edo State, the Etsako Club 81, an elite Edo group in Etsako Local Government Area of Edo State, has supported the second tenure of Governor Oshiomhole of Edo State as the state governor. This was disclosed by Justice Abdul Salami Abiri who was the chairman at the formal inauguration of the Benin City branch of Etsako Club 81 held in Benin City. Abiri noted that Oshiomhole has developed a network of solid roads both in the cities and in the rural areas of the state. ‘The governor has executed so many mass-oriented projects in the education sector, healthcare sector and in the areas of erosion control and transportation. He has governed Edo State efficiently with passion, selflessness, fairness, honesty, transparency, courage and compassion,’ he said. Abiri who is Chairman of Tax Appeal Tribunal, South-South, said even the blind could see and feel Oshiomhole’s hand of development everywhere, adding that the governor using the tax payers money to turn Edo State around in a way most people thought was impossible. Based on government’s input into the state, Abiri said there is no other option for Oshiomhole comes 2012. According to him, ‘I wish to remind us all of the obvious. The governorship election of 2012 in Edo State is around the corner. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is our son. By virtue of his good work, the Comrade Governor has come to be accepted by all citizens of Edo State as a worthy son. ‘Undoubtedly, his wish for a deserved second term must be a project of the club and all of us. Once again I want to state the obvious by asking all of us to support him and work tirelessly both day and night to ensure the success of this project. The opportunity will hardly ever come our way again. While responding, Simon Imuekemhe, secretary to the state government, who represented the governor at the ceremony stressed the need for the Etsako people to work together and be united because there is strength in unity. According to him, ‘the Etsako people must unite around their leaders to enable them be in positions they would be of help to the people. Adams Oshiomhole is an Etsako man to the core. It has been confirmed that when you give an Etsako man a responsibility he distinguishes himself.’ Imuekemhe who argued that it takes a governor that is focused to do what the governor was doing, urged the people to shout to the rooftop that Oshiomhole is doing marvelously well in Edo State. ‘With your status, let the people know that Oshiomhole is working and Edo is working. We need to support Oshiomhole because those who want to destroy will not look at the positive things he is doing,’ Imuekemhe said. The highpoint of the event was the inauguration of the Benin City branch of Etsako Club 81. The branch is the first, inaugurated outside Lagos State 30 years ago. http://www.momentng.com/en/news/4057/another-edo-pdp-chieftain-defe.html |

You appear to be one of the dumbest people I have met on NL so far. Everything na tribalism. Global warming, taxation, no doubt you'd explain both concepts using tribalism. Anyway, this conversation is over. |
Are you really this stvpid? What does tribalism have to do with it? Would a Texan want a nuclear power plant managed by incompetents built in Texas? If he says no to building it there, is that tribalism? This is the last time I will warn you, read what is being said here, not what you think is being said. And if you still cannot understand, then keep silent! It isn't by force to open your mouth, is it? |
I don't have time to respond to brainless posts. Reread the thread and comprehend what is being said, not what you think is being said. |
Onlytruth:As small as Nigeria is as a country, if disaster happens anywhere, it won't help. Read up on the Chernobyl incident. |

If not, are you reading and comprehending anything that is being written? "Risk", indeed. |
More of these coming up soon, just been a bit busy with other stuff. |
sharp man:+1 |
A lot of smoke, no fire. I hope the people of Imo State are not already disappointed by Rochas. |
Very unfortunate |
Even better would be each zone having its own capital. |
