So all these ancestors of ours who were pagans, are they all rotting in hell?

Because they definitely didn't believe or know anything about Jesus.

Is your grandpapa's grandpapa in hell? Despite him possibly having been a very upright man?

I don't believe in such a philosophy. Maybe a good Hindu won't go to heaven, but he doesn't deserve to go to hell. Anyway, I don't have the answers. . . but if that is the way the world works, it doesn't seem right to me.

Ujujoan:
've always believed that people should stick tho their own kind. A christian marrying a non-Christan is not a true Christians because the bible expressly teaches to stay away from 'unbelievers' . . . .  except the person's intentions is to convert him/her!

I can never marry a con- christian so I stay away from them, no matter how 'attractive' they are!

I know my values and those of my family and I don't intend to destroy them in the name of marriage.
I respect this POV. But where in the Bible is this explicitly prohibited?

I try to judge a person's worth on a case-by-case basis, not just on the basis of their religion. I've met Hindus before who are far more upright, kind, humble, honest, etc than your typical churchgoing "Christian." My best friend here is a not-too-religious Hindu, but I'd trust him with (for example) money or the safety of my first-born child over 99% of Christians.

Dude has never let me down, never failed me. Which is more than I can say for more Christians I've interacted with.

Bawss1:
@ Andrewnwa, if Ohakim's achievement is described as 'tremendous' then what terms will people use in describing the achievements of Fashola and Amaechi?

Ohakim and his Abia state counterpart are arguably Nigeria's most under performing governors of this era.
Gbenga Daniel, Alao Akala might be worse undecided

But I understand your point.

Not true.

Just gotta be careful. If you marry a fat woman, it'll only get worse once she has a few kids. You'll be very unhappy in your marriage if 5-10 years into it you have to wake up next to a hippo every morning  grin grin grin

as far as I know SW people dont plan on voting massively for GEJ, RIbadu, or Buhari.

I dont even think most care. this by far the lamest election. All of the candidates are terrible.
That is my own feeling. I don't like the PDP and think GEJ is a bad candidate, but am not sold on the other two either.

Beaf, I know very well that you have the best interests of the ACN and the SW at heart. Your previous statements here and posts (14K+!) make this a incontrovertible fact.

So I really appreciate the warning you've given out here. And I'm sure that the rest of us who are either SW fans or ACN fans feel the same way.

With that said. . . don't worry, we got this covered, bro  cool

I'm not super religious myself, and have dated several non-Christians before.

If you aren't that religious, then probably not a big deal. But if you are passionate about religion, or later on down the line become passionate, it might cause problems in the future.

As far as marriage goes, I think it is more convenient/practical/less annoying to marry someone who shares the same religion as you. But for me personally, if the choice is an ugly, poor, mean Christian woman versus a beautiful, rich, kind Hindu/atheist woman, I'll probably pick the latter grin tongue

I dunno, just my opinion on the matter. Though my parents strongly disagree with my beliefs on this subject grin

So hold on a second. This is just a youtube video uploaded by fans of BB. Not anyone within the party itself. Now, rather than:

A) Asking the fan to remove the video
B) Asking Youtube to remove the video, something they do very quickly when alerted of copyright violation

Bluelabs tried to blackmail the CPC huh So my question is. . . when did the CPC become the majority shareholder of Youtube?

Why not talk directly with Youtube to address the copyright violation? Or even better, talk to the fan who made the video first!

What kind of 419 scamming and dishonesty is this that Bluelabs is doing  undecided

Very shameful.

My qtn is, where is d guarantee dt after increasing the tariff the service will improve as well. We are ready to pay if there is certainty of value for money.
There are no guarantees in life. And in fact, the service will likely not improve much for several years.

However, this is a step we MUST take if we want Nigeria to have electricity. The longer you delay it, the more painful it will eventually be. Let's bite the bullet now.

Politics › Re: Does Fashola Really Need This Campaign? by ektbear: 9:12pm On Mar 31, 2011
He is the most popular politician in Nigeria, though. It makes sense for the ACN to have him seen as much as possible. Him campaigning doesn't only help him, but it helps anyone who associates with him. . . candidates at the LG, Senate, House, and even presidential levels. It is a good strategy by the ACN.

Plus, I suspect that Fashola has larger future ambitions in the back of his mind. Campaigning massively now lays the foundation/infrastructure for future campaigns later.
Politics › Re: New Electricity Tariff Out In May by ektbear(op): 8:55pm On Mar 31, 2011
I understand your points.

But think about it from the other side. Imagine that you are a businessman who wants to invest in generating electricity in Nigeria.

You see that the FG of Nigeria limits you to charging N8.5 for every kWh of electricity you produce. You then see that it costs N9.465 to produce that kWh in a place like the US where infrastructure is good (see Table 1.1 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_of_electricity_by_source).

So in essence, you'll invest billions of dollars and at the end of the day LOSE nearly 1 naira for every kWh of electricity you sell.

Now, would you as a businessman invest in generating electricity, under those conditions? Where you are losing money for every unit of product you sell?

No sane businessman would. The price of electricity to the end consumer HAS to cost at least as much as it costs to produce. Nobody wants to sell at a loss.

Nigerians have to ask themselves which they prefer:
A) Keep electricity at N8.5/kWh, only have it for 6 hours a day (since no private businessmen will want to invest in adding more hours per day) and either burn kerosene, run a generator or use candle for the remaining 18 hours
B) Pay a fair price for the electricity, a price similar to that which many other countries in the world pay (N23/kWh) and a price at which businessmen can make profit, and have it running 24/7.

The choice is yours. But for me, I prefer (B).
