Bros, the problem is when you start doing things for free, people will find more work for you to do without compensation ![]() Plus surveys are usually annoying and tedious |
Depends on the payoff vs. the amount of time the survey will take |
Compulsory, I hope Or at least, in the sense that you'll need it if you want to interact with government in any way |
What is "length of value?" Like, what is the length of the value of say the number 50? |
@oyb: 1. But that a major city is a melting pot doesn't suggest that the country would be better off if it were multi-ethnic, multi-religious. Germany has Berlin after all. The US has New York City. The UK has London. All three quite diverse...but all three nations are run by a majority tribe. 2. Yes, companies are unlikely to be racially/ethnically homogeneous. The objective in hiring in a corporation is to maximize the amount of talent I buy subject to a budgetary constraint. Since every ethnic group has talented people, it would be self-defeating to spend my $X of payroll only looking at members of ethnic group Y, since that won't maximize the talent I buy. But, how is this an argument in favor of diversity, in and of itself? Let's pretend that the US were 100% homogenous. Here are two ways for this hypothetical white US to increase diversity: a) It would be advantageous to allow talented immigrants from abroad to migrate into the US, for reasons similar to the corporate example you gave. b) hypothetical 100% white US merges with culturally distinct 100% mestizo Mexico (a) is clearly advantageous. (b) doesn't seem wise to me, nor does its correctness as a strategy follow from (a). |
BetaThings: Ekiti state is the most homogenous in Nigeria. Is it the most successful?Original Poster: Is it better to be tall if one wants to be a pro NBA player? Ekt_bear: Yes, it is. BetaThings: But the tallest man in the world is not in the NBA. Therefore, being tall is not helpful in basketball. |
jmoore: Is USA not diverse? smhsomeone already asked me this question, the 5th post in this thread. read it and the response |
not too sure what you mean, kadeerna |
The dominant identity in the US for a long time was WASPs (white anglo-saxon protestants). Non-WASP white people have been WASPed over time, absorbed into this dominant culture. There are fringe elements of diversity I guess, but it hasn't really changed the fortunes of the US in an overwhelmingly positive manner, imo |
This makes no sense to me. |
countries are more successful when homogeneous i think diversity is rarely a strength |
good development. |
This Maduka fellow na real mugu ![]() |
Then he played tribal politics by saying that all the Yoruba people had ganged up against him to kill him because they were not happy that he, an Igbo man, could come to Lagos to own this waterfront and that was why they were ganging up against him to try to destroy his business. Then I asked him, what was really the issue? He said that actually the Managing Director of Union Bank at the time, Mrs. Funke Osibodu, used to be his consultant and that he paid her to help turn around his company. And like a doctor-patient relationship he opened up to Funke because he had to give her facts so she would be able to work. So Funke got all the facts about his company, the weaknesses and the position of the company. Then, during the banking system restructuring, Funke was now appointed to run Union Bank and the bank was already trying to extend some credit facilities to him. But Funke went and blocked it, and not only did she block it, she sent someone who he thought was also coming to restructure his credit but he turned out to be a receiver to come and take over his assets for the money he owed Union Bank. I asked how much he owed Union bank, to which he responded, N40 billion. Then I enquired to know what he had done with this money? He said he was building structures while other people where trading and there was no money he owed that he could not pay back, adding that if I looked I could see three people from NNPC and others bringing vessels here. He added that when he took this money, he did not see the bank restructuring coming. So I asked to know what exactly he wanted from me. He said he wanted to start trading and asked if I could assist him.Hoodwinked. Unfortunate. |
Yep, I like dancing quite a bit. Not very good though ![]() |
hmm. Let me say something relatively innocuous. Fried chicken is my guilty pleasure. I love it, but always feel unhappy with myself when I eat it.. |
marshpearl: i enjoy smoking weed wif ma grandma. . Brings alot of pleasure cuz it makes her dance azonto on the roof ![]() |
fo sho i did it using ruby, then converted to java using java collections library for further context, the idea is to solve this puzzle in ideally 30 minutes or so...so no need to implement sorting from scratch. Using standard library stuff as a building block. |
Eh. Don't get mad at Obama for being overwhelmed by the love and support (months of FREE labor that these volunteers donated to get him elected). Even sometimes when I think about my mama's love, I feel emotional. How much more random strangers who give you everything they have? Shout out to Obeezy and those who contributed to getting him reelected. |
Some interesting post-election analysis from Nate Silver: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/08/as-nation-and-parties-change-republicans-are-at-an-electoral-college-disadvantage/?hp |
I came across this a few weeks ago. Here is how it goes: ----------------- You are to write a program that takes a list of strings containing integers and words and returns a sorted version of the list. The goal is to sort this list in such a way that all words are in alphabetical order and all integers are in numerical order. Furthermore, if the nth element in the list is an integer it must remain an integer, and if it is a word it must remain a word. Input: ------ The input will contain a single, possibly empty, line containing a space-separated list of strings to be sorted. Words will not contain spaces, will contain only the lower-case letters a-z. Integers will be in the range -999999 to 999999, inclusive. The line will be at most 1000 characters long. Output: ------- The program must output the list of strings, sorted per the requirements above. Strings must be separated by a single space, with no leading space at the beginning of the line or trailing space at the end of the line. Constraints: ------------ The code you submit must take input from stdin and produce output to stdout as specified above. No other output is permitted. You can assume the input will be valid. Feel free to use standard libraries to assist in sorting. In the examples below, the text "Input:" and "Output:" are not part of the output, and neither are the blank lines. Example 4: ---------- Input: car truck 8 4 bus 6 1 Output: bus car 1 4 truck 6 8 |

So, we are at 22 pages. Has this sad display of madness and digital jealousy/envy been resolved yet? |
Very interesting. |
