For me, when I get married, yes |
What about a vasectomy? This procedure is reversible, I believe. Similarly, if a woman has her tubes tied, this is also reversible. Plus, if people are being paid to have this procedure done, then it isn't so bad. Finally, what are these better ways you speak of? |
atbu1983: what you are saying is not complety true in d UK (though very true like 6years ago). I have friends (including myself) with first class Bsc, distinction masters who cant get scholarship for PHD in d UK. Most foreigners doing PhD in d UK today came with scholarship from thier countries.Alright. I guess it is possible that things work differently in the UK. Though imo if you have to pay money to get a PhD, it isn't even worth the cost |
It is an easy question to answer. "While I enjoy working at Company X, I feel that the role at your company is a better fit for my interests....." Random bullcrap like that. If you have a good resume and do well on their interviews, companies don't care |
Can we hear arguments against? |
I guess it varies from industry to industry. But in tech, people leave all the time (for better salary/benefits/location/etc). |
Population engineering like this has a very bad reputation. People will say that you shouldn't discriminate against people for being poor, dumb, having too many kids, etc. But ultimately, if you don't penalize behavior that weakens society, then implicitly you are encouraging such behavior. So, good idea, but very difficult to implement, especially in a democracy. |
The issue is that typically if you are accepted into a PhD program, you'll be working as a research assistant or teaching assistant. As a result, you don't have to spend any money out of pocket on tuition. And you are even paid a small salary. That is why this story is strange to me. |
I don't think employers care if you left your previous employer early. Especially in tech stuff, there is no real loyalty...people jump ship all the time. But I think if I were to accept this job and then leave, it would probably to pursue something in quantitative finance, since the gap in salary is enough to justify the inconvenience. |
I guess good in principle. But spending money to do a PhD rather than even being paid to a PhD (especially in any technical subject) is very strange. |

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I received a formal offer today with the actual numerical amount. Which exceeded my expectations. I did some research on salary sites and wasn't able to find much paying better. So, at this point I'm leaning towards just accepting. |
BUSH MAN: i ve said enough time that we should just sell nigeria to the chinese or the indians, and we all share the money and every one dissapear to were ever they want, ![]() |
Heh. Reminds me of those Ludacris lyrics, "b@ng c*ck in Bangkok" ![]() But Michelle is pretty attractive and Obama too much in the public eye to be cheating I think. At least I wouldn't wager money on it. |
2 months? Surely this is a lie...? |
Good question, OP. Btw did anyone actually go through that list of 50 private universities and count by state? Perhaps someone less lazy than I can compile this data... ![]() |
I thought it was: oyibo = white chinko = "yellow" (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc) I can understand calling Filipinos chinko, though they are very different racially from say Chinese (closer to Malays, Indonesians, etc) |
afam4eva: Even though White is sometimes replaced with Caucasian, they don't mean the same thing. White is a general term for anybody who's not black inclusing Caucasians, chinese, jaapanese, latinos etc.So you'll call an Indian oyibo as well? Wth does oyibo even mean? Just non-negro? It really loses its descriptive power if everybody not from Nigeria is oyibo. |
OK, so today I was at the gym. When this gorgeous girl with a great body walks in. Sounds great right? Two problems: 1) She is with a Muslim-looking female friend wearing a hijab. 2) She looks like she is 17 or 18. Which is too young for me. But..the only way to know for sure is to verify, maybe she just had a young face. I'll tell you guys what I did later in the thread. But first I want to hear how you guys would toast her, despite the possible roadblocks above. |
I'm currently looking for jobs a bit in anticipation of graduating soon. The first offer I've gotten so far from a company (let's call them Company A) with a brand that was on the decline for some of the 2000s and actually hasn't fully recovered popularity-wise (though the company is strong financially). In particular, the first comment I've gotten from two non-tech savvy friends I have is, "Oh, Company A is still around?" Which isn't very pleasant. However, the position at Company A is a GREAT fit. The work I like doing, not excessively stressful work environment, great hours, competitive salary, and close to where I already live (so no issue of moving very far away to a strange city and having to build your friends network all over again). To me, the no brainer thing to do is to view the job offer highly. But I'm already a huge snob when it comes to brands. And the comments of these friends of mine doesn't make me feel better about it. Obviously, I might be in the position where this is the only or by far best offer I get..in which case I won't have any other options. But assuming that I get at least one other offer, would it be stvpid of me to not accept Company A's offer just because their brand equity doesn't yet match their finances? I mean, it seems like it would be pretty dumb for me to move to Chicago, earning the same amount of money in a place I like less than where I currently live just because I'm a brand snob. |
phaya: I knew this would happen. Nigeria too like 'Miss something'. Next Miss subsidy, Miss corruption, Miss boko haram. Smh ![]() |

Speaking at the flag-off on Friday, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema urged the firm handling the project to ensure that it is completed within eight months from now, stating that the power plant project is being undertaken by the Nigeria-German Energy Commission under a partnership arrangement to boost energy supply.Never heard of the bolded organization before in my life. So, who is really paying for the plant? Germany, or the Nigerian FG? And under what arrangement? |
broken bones, probably not. turn your ankle, yes |
terrible idea. plus, the money won't even stretch far enough. |
Bros, do you watch any sports? E.g. basketball? Or boxing? Ever heard of the phrase "great white hope?" Obama is our "great black hope" as far as politics go. White people have enjoyed and continue to enjoy their great white hopes in a variety of sports in which blacks dominate. Let them continue to enjoy theirs, and us enjoy ours. EDIT: bleh, someone already said exactly what i said |
the kim k of nigeria, lol. or at least nairaland |
