Youngzedd: Yes, but assuming your sources of revenue are from calls and data only. If you lose out on calls generated revenue that leaves you with only revenue from data plans. So increasing the cost of data or looking for IPO 'magas' in the stock market may be the only way out. 3 Likes |

emmatok: Have you thought of the effect the introduction of Whatsapp, Viber, Skype, BBM and the like has on the revenues of these companies? How many people still waste credit to call their love ones when they can use services like whatsapp and viber calls for free? A huge chunk of their revenue comes from international calls and how many people still use their phones to make international calls when you have free services like voip calls? Telecom companies are currently having huge drop in revenues due to the recent invention of whatsapp, voip and others and there is possibility that this will continue. Why do you think MTN is coming to the market to list? Where were they all the while telecom business was still booming? Now the tin don red for them and they have decided to list. I think due diligence is required when it comes to investing in telecom companies. I don't know why I see them as thieves. 6 Likes |

FranklinRich: I am waiting for Afriprud at an attractive price sub N2. I don't expect them to pay their regular 35 kobo because they've already paid 17 kobo interim dividend. They may discount this from their regular 35 kobo and pay the balance as final dividend. 2 Likes |

Hehehe, Oando don finally trade below 5-year low. E remain NSEASI... Patiently waiting... . When the bulls finally surface na break-even JIJO masters go dey think of, no be profit. Our prayer points should be to break even before profit takers go start fellowship. This is why it is better to be a long term investor and maybe do very little of JIJO on a part-time basis make e no be like say person dey dull during the year. Long term investors are always happy during the bear and the bull seasons. Think about it. 6 Likes |

ogadeolu: There is still hope for your Unity bank shares, at least it is still trading so you have a choice to make. As for the rest, ask your broker to put them on permanent sell order. One day you may be lucky to sell some of them. I was also a victim of 2007/2008 just like you and I entered "one chance" on Universal insurance & Mbenefit. With a permanent sell order I was able to sell the Mbenefit insurance leaving me with just Universal insurance which I am prepared to leave for my grand children because I no sure say my children go fit inherit dis one . Good luck. |

ogbs2020love: You have a wife and a kid, so I think you need the car. Considering your age, there is a rule of thumb that says you should put 70% of your assets in stocks and the balance 30% in a fixed income security like Treasury Bills which is a risk-free investment that you can easily liquidate if you ever have need for cash. This is better than keeping your money in your bank account. I also think you need to rebalance your portfolio. N5 million is too small to spread on "almost all the stocks on the NSE" as described in your post. Diversification reduces your risk but remember whatever reduces your risk reduces your reward. Besides, it can be difficult to keep track of what's happening to the companies you invest in when they're too many. You may want to reduce your stocks to at most 10 well-diversified stocks with good fundamentals. 6 Likes |

hbrednic: Yes, that's true. @ukay2, you also have to process a share transfer form via your broker. So if you are not in a rush just wait for them to post the dividend warrant to you. |
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Elai147: 1:10pm On Aug 21, 2015 |
ukay2: It is not a must, you can post it to the registrars yourself after taking it to your bank for their signature and stamp. You only need to process e-dividend form if you want the money to be paid into your bank account and you may not be able to process e-mandate before payment date except you are resident in Lagos. If you are not able to process it before payment date they will post it to your address. |

SpongeBobSP: In the banking sector, the best long term stocks are GTB and Zenith. Access is also a good one in terms of dividend payment. GTB is stronger but more expensive. There is no need to own both GTB and Zenith as both are very much alike in performance strength and dividend payment. You can go for Zenith and Access as an undergraduate. If you have money you may risk FBNH but try not to get too exposed to banking stocks. 1 Like |

Agbalowomeri: Personally I think this is a good company to own for long term and if i can get it @N200 or less, I may include it to my long term stocks. Some brokers advised against buying FO and Nestle some years ago. But I would like to know from BnSiTL if there is any good reason why Seplat is a bad investment choice. |
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Elai147: 11:42am On Aug 21, 2015 |
zik4ever: Apart from ROE and drop in crude oil prices which are both temporal, what else is wrong with the fundamentals of this company? I would like to know. Besides, the EPS reported in the above link (N14.77) is not correct. Seplat EPS actually increased from N38.12 to N42.55 at the end of Q2 because you calculate EPS using total comprehensive income and not just using PAT alone. |
