Willie2015: Coolcash1: I could not agree with you more. Most BnSiTL know that I was more of a long term investor even though I do short term trades. But after after doing a lot of research and calculations, I decided to settle for the latter. Nigeria is not a country where you invest for long term and expect to sleep peacefully or with both eyes closed as is expected in a normal economy. For me, apart from Nestle, and maybe Dangcem, I don't see any other stock that is worth the risk of a long term investment in the NSE. If I want to be careless I may include GTB, NB and TOTAL PLC. As a short term investor (I'm not talking about JIJO), if you know your technicals very well and, you are disciplined, you will definitely be more successful than a long term investor (as long as the investment is done in the NSE). My only advice for those who still believe in Long Term is that when doing due diligence, they should always remember to include corruption and uncertainty to their DD instead of just relying on figures and ratios in some annual reports of some companies managed by corrupt officials in a corrupt country. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

feelamong: Apart from Nestle and Dangcem, this is another cash flow stock I would like in my portfolio. They have upped their interim dividend from N2 to N3. I hope it is sustainable. Waiting for the year I can get it @N100 or below. 1 Like |

OBAGADAFFI: The stock was marked down for 0.35 dividend today. Previouse close 4.80 - 0.35 = 4.45 which was the reference/opening price for today, and after losing 4.94% today it closed at 4.23. So from 4.80 to 4.23 is about 11.87%. 2 Likes |

ukay2: It's a good idea to have more than one broker. Since you already have a good relationship with Investment One, and if they have a good customer service, I will advise you to keep your portfolio with them and put your long term cash-flow stocks there. You may use your portfolio with MorganCapital for trading and enjoy the low brokerage fees. |

ukay2: I didn't do biometrics. Some of these brokers don't know the requirements for inter-member transfer. Morgan asked me to do biometrics, bankers confirmation of signature and BVN, but I contacted CSCS and they confirmed that I didn't need any of those. When you are transferring from an active firm to another active one, it is a very straight forward process. But if you are transferring from an inactive/dead firm to an active one, the process is a little different and that is when CSCS requires Bankers Confirmation of signature, etc. You can email CSCS for confirmation of what you need for inter-member transfer. If you have CSCS online, you will be able to view your stocks online as well as the transaction history of each stock (by clicking on the stock). You can also print statements of your account anytime. There are so many other benefits, and the cost is just N2,500 for yearly subscription. 1 Like |

ukay2: Sorry for the late reply... Requirements for Intermember Transfer; • Account Opening Form (KYC Form) to be duly filled by you and returned with a utility bill and valid means of your identification. Get this form from Morgan. • Completed inter-member form (you can also get this form from Morgan). • Current CSCS statement of account (Get this from Investment One, or print from your CSCS online account, if you have one). • Letters of authority to CSCS and Resident house (Investment One) • Your resident house may ask you to pay some fees Your target broking firm (Morgan Capital) should initiate the transfer request online to the resident broking firm (Investment One). As soon as the resident broking firm approves the request, CSCS would transfer the account immediately. Note: You should notify Investment One of your intention to transfer your account to enable a speedy process. They may try to frustrate the transfer process (especially if your portfolio is worth a lot of money). If this happens, just send an email to SEC and it will be done. Alternatively, you may copy SEC in all your correspondences with Investment One. This way, they will not try to frustrate you. SEC (sec@sec.gov.ng) Njoku Agnes (anjoku@sec.gov.ng) 4 Likes 1 Share |

Coolcash1: Rexceedo: I moved my portfolio from Meristem to MorganCapital, and merged it with my old Morgan account. It was a very good decision, and I have been very happy. Meristem has a very good customer service, but Man shall not live by bread alone. If the iTrade platform is functioning well, you may not need any customer service. 4 Likes |

Auditing and services company, Ernst & Young, has raised concerns over the soundness of Oando Plc, stating that the current financial position of the company may cast significant doubts on its ability to continue as a going concern. davide470: I sincerely hope Oando is not next in line. BnSiTL who are in for long term should be careful with this coy. 1 Like |

Intendy: The problem is that inflation is currently at 15.60% or thereabout. So if TBill is giving 15% per annum, your actual return is just around 0.60%. TBill is only good for capital preservation (idle funds) so that your money doesn't lose much of its purchasing power. The portion of my portfolio meant for TBill has been moved to the stock market since early last year, and it is performing better. 7 Likes |

DUNKA: The stocks in your list are good, but you don't necessarily need all. The more stocks you own the less you are likely to know about each of them, and the more time, energy and resources you will need monitoring them. For example, it is not necessary to have both GTBank and Zenith in one portfolio. Both of them have similar fundamentals and trading patterns. They even pay same or similar dividends over the years. In fact, there is no need having more than one banking stock in your portfolio since you are mainly interested in the cash flow. Having more than one banking stock will increase your exposure to this volatile sector. I would settle for the best of them all- GTBank. Below are the stocks I would select from your list: GTB DANGOTE CEMENT NIGERIAN BREWERIES MOBIL/TOTAL (Total Plc is more generous with dividend) NESTLE Others you may consider are: PRESCO AFRIPRUD or UCAP Just ensure that you enter at good entry prices. Also remember that you are investing your money in a corrupt country. Regular monitoring of your investment is paramount to ensure you don't wake up one day and see a very 'strange portfolio.' 8 Likes |

Zhirinovsky: Most of us here use Morgan iTrade. Yes, there are other charges like sec, nse, trade alert, cscs and stamp duty, depending on whether you're buying or selling. The iTrade does not have a Short Sell option, but you can call MorganCapital and ask if they offer Short Selling. Their stop-loss is the worst I have used. Sometimes you get stopped out before the price gets to your stop price. Regarding not being able to sell when the stock is on full bid, I'm not sure where you got that from. You should be able to sell when the stock is on bid. 2 Likes |

LondonCool: If you have a CSCS online account you should be able to confirm if the bonuses have been credited. Most times the bonuses may have reflected in your CSCS online but not in your broker's account. In this case, you will have to contact your broker. |

ogbs2020love: If you had invested 10 years ago your investment would be in the same condition or in a worse condition by now, depending on the stocks you invested in. 10 years ago NSEASI was at 26,000 or thereabout, but today it's around 25,000. If you must invest for long term, say 10 years, please don't just invest and go to sleep because our market is still underdeveloped and full of manipulations. You should ensure to review your investment monthly, quarterly or bi-annually. If I were in your shoes, and MUST invest for long term with little or no time to review my investment, I would only consider Nestle and Dangcement. 6 Likes 1 Share |
