Cleverley scores a winning goal against Arsenal. It has been coming. Games after international breaks can be different. |
chrisley024:Remember when SAF lost 6-1 to City. Our players kept pushing forward even as City were creating uncountable chances. We played very well that day, but we didn’t respect the quality that the City team had assembled, so we became very careless. |
nyabinghi:How many teams will go to Liverpool this season and return with 3 points? |
Lana1:If e easy like that why you no score CGPA of 5.0 in school |
You guys said Liverpool is not in form that we should beat them. What do you say about Palace that scored their first goal of the season today, and beat Chelsea in the process? Football is not mathematics. |
nyabinghi:... and Chelsea lost to Palace. What do you say? What tactics did Chelsea deploy? |
Mourinho is very intelligent. We kept a potential top four team 7 points below us, instead of risky opening the game and losing all three points to them. Beat all the small teams, collect a few points from the big teams, you could be champion except there is a very consistent team. Let’s not deceive ourselves, City is currently better. We don't have to chase them and throw away vital points in the process. Players just returned from international break. The Liverpool team can be very good sometimes against the top sides. That was what happened today, despite the defensive approach. Liverpool are also very mobile covering so much kilometers, so Martial and Mkhitaryan gassed out quickly. The substitutes were even worse. At the end Our keeper saved one great attempt, theirs saved one great attempt. The match ended 0-0 |
Nihilist:But DDG made just one crucial save. The rest were mostly normal saves. |
nyabinghi:Where have you been since? We have been winning matches but you didn't show up. |
Oasis007:Are we here for only debate or also for information? Abeg drop everything. |
joeace2020:How is Trump a bad leader? Keep politics out of football because they are two different things. Trump is a million times better than gay promoter, bestiality promoter, gender change promoter, bathroom sharing of men with teenage school girls promoter Obama. Just to name a few. Just look at how the economy is doing well because Trump is blocking unfair and unfavourable trades. If not for the Democrats trying to frustrate him, things would have moved much faster. |
Tinyemeka:I know. There is a limit to which I can say. |
When I joined banking many years back, loans were written off upon termination of staff employment. Then a severance package would be given to the staff as an appreciation for serving the institution. But over the years, with new CEOs, everything has changed for the worse. Those days if you put in five years, you would be qualified for an exit package. You can say you are tired, you resign and collect your exit package. The profit now is far far higher, yet the staff welfare has become poorer. There has to be a new orientation in the corporate world. |
Neymar1095:Your 'copy and paste' from one nairaland thread to another entered for you now once in a blue moon and you want to brag? Go back to your posting of dozens of Brazilian girls with bare buttocks on the other thread because that is the only facts you can get right. |
eph12:I didn't understand the argument from the start. It's okay. |
Hazard at Lille : Europe matches 27, goals 4 Hazard at Chelsea: Europe matches 41, goals 7 Giggs still had a better return. |
eph12:Giggs only appeared 23 times that period and you know he wasn't much a starter at the beginning. So mostly 23 substitutes appearances |
eph12:I thought I read Giggs scored 5 goals. Or did he mean 5 goals in Europe? |
Neymar1095:It seems you are truly a troll as others said. But I don't know you. Ryan Giggs 1990/1991 = 1 goal in 2 division one league appearances 1991/1992 = 4 goals in 38 division one league matches, 3 goals in cup fixtures 1992/1993 = 9 goals in 41 Premier league matches, 2 goals in FA cup 1993/1994 = 13 goals in 38 Premier league matches, 1 FA cup goal and 3 league cups 1994/1995 = 1 EPL goal, 2 in Europe 1995/1996 = 11 EPL goals, 1 FA cup 1996/1997 = 3 EPL goals, 2 in Europe 1997/1998 = 8 EPL goals, 1 in Europe, 1 League cup |
adem30:You are very sensible. I guess everyone knows the truth, but the PDP supporters just want something to hold on to in an attempt to accuse Buhari. |
Rojo will play well at LCB and LB. But with Phil Jones playing well at LCB, Rojo would have to play the LB. With so many central defenders, Mourinho may have to settle for 3 at the back. I am not sure we bought Lindelof to be a permanent back up. So what happens to him if Jones keep praying well? |
Paulinho is actually struggling to blend with the passing style of Barca. But he is showing signs that he would be good at carrying out the dirty jobs. |
KingTom:May be not that match Messi scored. There was an important match one guy scored, I think he came from the bench. |

Paulinho played against Messi during an international friendly between Brazil and Argentina and the midfielder has admitted in an interview with El Periodico that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner sounded him out over a move - as he prepared to take a free-kick. "It's true. It was in the friendly that we played against Argentina in June,” Paulinho said. “I was preparing to take a free-kick with Willian and another player I do not remember. “Suddenly, I see Messi from behind, who is approaching me little by little and says: 'Are you going to Barcelona or not?' “He told me right before I was about to take the free-kick.” Messi left Paulinho nervous The incident left Paulinho so nervous that he told Chelsea’s Willian to take the free-kick. "What did I tell him? 'If you want to take me, you can take me. I am going'. “I was so nervous that I said to Willian, 'You're taking the free-kick!' “After the game, I was able to exchange shirts with him. He did not let me shoot the free-kick, but I'm here." When Messi comes calling, you just don’t say no. |
adisaaowala:How you see Paulinho now? |
Lukaku and Fellaini were rightly positioned for the two goals Fellaini scored The first goal: Fellaini scored from same position he has scored many vital goals from us. Again, a cross coming from Ashley Young with his right foot from that position he made the cross from, Fellaini should typically be at the far post. It looks Lukaku missed the ball already, so too were the two defenders that flanked him on both sides. The only person that read the flight of the ball correctly or was rightly positioned to deal with it, else it flew out of play, was Fellaini. As soon as the ball went in, Lukaku immediately celebrated which shows he probably missed the ball and was happy a team mate ghost in to score. The second goal by Fellaini: Fellaini was playing ahead of Lukaku in the box. It could be the tactics from training or just a natural understanding between the two. Again, if Lukaku decided to stay out of the six yards box, what stops another player from occupying it? If I remember correctly, the last time Barca beat Madrid, the guy who scored the winning goal was playing ahead of Messi and Suarez. |
Mystic1:How? When City don't play long balls |
Wura27:Ok |
SailorXY:The mistake against Stoke was matching them strength for strength, instead of technique for strength. |
We are not always going to dominate games, but today’s performance is not it at all. The worst performance of Manchester United since Mourinho's era. The worst second half since I have been watching Manchester United. The Southampton players were very fast. They looked faster in almost all departments of the game that Rashford was matched for pace. Bailly and Jones did well defending, their fast legs also helped out. The major problem was midfield where Fellaini and Matic were outnumbered and out paced. Herrera is match rusty and couldn't do much to close the spaces. May be next time we play them, we should try to control the game by playing Blind in left back. We go for short passes and bore them terribly. |
