If we were to go all night with this game, Ighalo's style will not work. That is my problem with him. He did not offer any other invention to his game.

The Egyptians understood his play and he continued that way. Other strikers innovate other means when their approach is not working but Ighalo continued the same thing.
Ighalo's destraction of the two centre defenders was enough. That paved way for Musa, Iheanacho to have a go at goal. Ighalo did a one two pass with Musa to set Musa free in the box in the first half. He also did some one two pass with Iheanacho, this was Ighalo who was heavily policed. He did his job well. If Iheanacho had to play as our point man between the two defenders, he would have been bullied off the ball easily.

Iheanacho played as a support striker and had a role of dropping deeper to help. That left Ighalo up front alone. Remember earlier in the game, Iheanacho was not seen until he started dropping deeper. Nothing stops the point man from dropping deep once in a while. Ighalo hardly made breathing space for himself but stayed with the defenders throughout.

Nothing stops Lukaku or Aguero from dropping deep to tighten the midfield and increase possession. These guys do it repeatedly but Ighalo hardly did. Ighalo needs reinvention of his game.
It's good you know Iheanacho was the support striker/central attacking midfield.

Ighalo on the other hand was used just the way he plays his game for Watford. Strikers are different, and it is left to the coach to build his strategy around the attributes of their strikers.

Aguero is good dropping to do some build up. Chicharito and Inzaghi play on the shoulder of the last man and are great inbox poachers. Thiery Henry and Antony Martial drift to the wing always and drive the ball in. Yekini on the shoulder of the last men. Etc

A good coach looks at this qualities and work around them. Ighalo did well with his hold up play between two big defenders. It's no even that he was inside the box throughout.

Ighalo playing between two defenders meant Iheanacho and other attacking players having more space to operate. But Iheanacho and Musa kept making wrong passes.

I disagree with Iheanacho was poor in his build up play. He missed some but he made a lot of ply to create fluidity and build up.

He dropped deep a lot of times to help the team but Ighalo hardly did that.

He just stayed up front throughout.

They were times Iheanacho dropped deep close to the defence and distributed the ball.

The Egyptians played deep, so it is normal for them to intercept build up play. That shows innovation and not poor play. My problem was Ighalo staying up front the whole time when he was out numbered.
Iheanacho was meant to drop because he was the number 10 playing behind the striker. He acted ad an attacking midfielder. Ighalo was the point man and his holding up play between two defenders was good.

Iheanacho and Musa made many poor passes.

He should have removed Odion Ighalo who offered little to no threat and left Nacho up front. Odion Ighalo for Iwobi who can help out in a defensive role in midfield. Putting pressure on the balance of the Egyptian midfield.

Coach Siasia did not think defence in his changes and it is what cost us. That Aminu change was reckless and unnecessary.

Ambrose should stop taking what he is taking. He exposed the team to numerous dangers with his reckless runs
.
Ighalo had two men on him. That afforded other forward players some more room to operate, including Iheanacho. Iheanacho was poor in his build up play but he should have been left because of his eyes for goals.

Musa was substituted just when he was beginning to play well. But I think Moses ordered more.

I like Victor Moses, but that dribbling was too far. He took the ball too far and had to chase after it. Those days a player like Kanu Nwankwo would beat the keeper and still have the ball in his feet.

Many of our players cannot shoot accurately.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Egypt AFCON Qualifier: 1 - 1 On 25th March 2016 by elampiro(m): 7:18pm On Mar 25, 2016

Oboabona feighing injury was the genesis of that goal. At 90th minute with our goalkeeper with the ball, Oboabona went down in front of our box pretending to be injured. So the goalkeeper played the ball into touch in our area, whereas he should have kicked it far into opposition's half without Oboabona's trying to waste time at the wrong part of the pitch.

The other guy raising his hand instead of looking at the offide line is the second person to blame. That is pure inexeperince. I guess he is a home based. Echejiele would have read the situation better. How can he assume Salah was offide when he didn't watch his co-defeders?

I see it as a kind of power tussle between the board (Sirs Alex and Bobby) on one side, and the money bags ( Mr Ed and co) on the other side.
While the board are not convinced Jose Mourinho will sync well with existing culture of the institution, the moneybags don't care and are tired of being blamed for coach's ineptitude so they hope to force in the 'popular' choice with those pre-contract clauses.

\if that contract report is anything to go by of course/

This Joses' agent is a genius. This is a real heads,I win and tails, you lose, pre contract.
It's normal. We are preventing him from searching for a new club. By July, all the big clubs would have hired coaches already. It's a win - win for Jose and Manchester United.

A win for us also that we can change our mind before July 1st. He is ours till then.

Manchester United have refused to comment on reports that Jose Mourinho has signed a pre-contract to take over as manager in place of Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.

A club official told Reuters they would be making no response to the story in Spanish newspaper El Pais, which cited sources close to Mourinho.

Under the terms of the agreement, the El Pais report said, United would have to pay Mourinho £5m if they did not offer him a full contract by May 1 and another £10m if they failed to give him the job by June 1.

The report by Diego Torres cited a source with links to the Gestitude Agency run by Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes, said United wanted a flexible deal because of a split in the Old Trafford board as to whether the 53-year-old was the right choice for the club.

Arsenal was top of the league when our players were injured. They came back and we are 3rd.
I thought you were top of the league when Ozil, Sanchez, Chamberlain and co were fit?

Anyway, whoever made you be on top of the league are your best players. Moreover, there is no gulf between your first 15 players and the rest.

We about 13 injuries at a time, and 70% were staters. So we went to fetch players who were never in the plan for the season. You didn't have this situation at Arsenal.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:08am On Mar 21, 2016
Martial and Rashford should be given opportunities. The platform for them to be our main attacking players should be provided. Rashford and Martial caused City defence all kind of problems yesterday. Under tight marking in attacking zone, they held their own.

But they will find fast playing defenders hard to tear down so easily, so they will need to mature. Even if Mourinho comes, these guys should be in the plan of first his eleven selection.

Lingard has shown we need a fast playing attacking midfielder. In the last two matches, he carried the ball forward quickly, always forward looking. It's forward movement everytime and he had the pace to cover yards. His problem though is lack of alertness at the final moment.

If we have a quality player like Ribery or Robben to play from the right and provide leadership in the attack, then we can be happy. May be too a real attacking midfielder who has pace.

Carrick passes out of the DM were very instrumental today. Good long and short passes, mostly between opposing players. Each time our attacking players got the ball, they were always forward looking. Lingard is very good at carrying the ball forward through the middle. He has done it in two matches. He was our best player against Liverpool.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m):

What was key to our victory was that our forwards were faster than their defenders.

Martial and Rashford were superb. Lingard is sometimes a laggard. But he is becoming useful in carrying the ball forward when he finds himself in the middle of the pitch.

Valencia was key in reducing City pressure, he won was the only one making real tackles and stalling City's build up. He relieved Smalling the duty of policing Aguero. And I didn't think he could offer anything near that. If these guys were around, we could have been fighting for top four.

Schweinsteiger didn't really lift us.

Pulling out Rojo for Valencia was a wasted substitue. Darmian should have gone out. When Rashford was injured we were virtually down to 10 against 11. He couldn't even chase a through ball from Martial that should have set him facing the goalkeeper.

It's clear that we should have been contesting for the title if Valencia, Shaw, Jones, Young and Rojo have been fit. These are 5 first team players who cannot be intimidated by any opposition.

If not for that yeye Mark Dean, we would be well sitted in top four.

Valencia gave a good account of himself. He marked everywhere and appeared to win all, except when Aguero rounded him in the box with a beautiful chest control.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 6:01pm On Mar 20, 2016
Yellow card to Smalling was too soft and too early and kind of put him on the check.

Lingard lacks awareness. If his reading of a pass was a bit sharper, we could have added another goal in the first half. He has missed about three opportunities to go one vs with the goalkeeper because he runs before a pass is made. At the end he is struggling to bring the ball from behind his feet.

Decisions are not going our way.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 4:17pm On Mar 20, 2016
Carrick and Schneirderlin in our midfield.

There will be no support of attack from midfield.

Darmian for Varela.

Only two changes from last game. I see no quality in the team to inspire confidence.

Dwight Yorke believes Louis van Gaal couldn't care less about the criticism from ex-players.

The likes of Paul Scholes and Andrei Kanchelskis have hammered LVG in the media.

But Yorke, speaking exclusively to 888sport, says: “He’s been a top manager around Europe and we all know that. He will think that he didn’t get to this level by listening to ex players. They won’t affect his way of thinking. I’ve been around him and I’ve seen his mentality and he won’t care what we think.

"He will brush it off like its nothing. He’s that type of individual and what we’re saying or the media are saying…that doesn’t come into his vocabulary. Have we seen any change? He is not going to change.

We could have won if that Courtinho's goal was prevented. We were in command and Rojo had a glorious chance to send us 2-0.

The boys gave a good account of themselves, but experience was highly lacking.

Courtinho's goal actually killed it. We looked very good at the time. I believe Varela should have shielded him at least to allow time for someone to cover for him. Carrick didn't expect the dribble to be so easy, and DDG was also at fault.

Lingard played very well carrying the ball forward. Martial sometimes behave like a kid, he runs into an obvious traffic. He also doesn't have the long distance speed.

Varela would have offered more than Valencia who was obviously rusty. He only dare showed a flash of his run in her last 15 minutes.

Fellaini had an above average game but his lack of attacking sense was a hindrance to us. Herrera would make faster use of the ball.

In a nutshell, we have too amateurs who are very good but lack the experience to make the right decision at the crucial moments.

DDG was so badly positioned. Awful!

Things were looking so good before we made it easy for Courtinho. Rojo could have made it 2-0.

Mata, Lingard missed point blank chances. Although Lalana also missed at the other end.

Our defending let us down again. Beating our right back shouldn't mean a straight access to DDG. There should have been someone blocking behind Varela.
