patrickmuf: You have a short term memory, Pogba has had an difficult season with reoccurring injuries, when fit, he is our best midfielder. Forget that McTominay and Fred have picked up, we still need Pogba or a player of his ability in the team just so the likes of Lingard and Pereira take their rightful place on the bench... Na u get short memory. Pogba played 35 matches last season and scored 6 goals only from open play. He was fully fit last season. Pogba is your best midfielder on name, not on performance. By performance last calendar year, he is below McTominay. Also, in August, Pogba was fit and fired blank in all four matches. He missed free header twice from 4 yards and was ballooning shots like shooting stars of Ibadan. |

patrickmuf: Mane going to midfield is just his style of play, when Rooney and Tevez were here, our midfield had Scholes, Carrick, Anderson etc. Those players were at some point the best in their position so it's more about the attackers style of play than the midfield being average. It then means we have four forwards who all lack the ability to support a two man midfield. The midfield needs support for build up play. patrickmuf: Pogba in our midfield will see us create more clear cut chances added with his goal threat from midfield. I am looking forward to when Fred, McTominay and Pogba start together. Let us not behave like we have not seen Pogba played for us before. Which goal threats? Someone who scored only 6 goals from open play in 35 matches last season and scored nil in 7 matches this season. McTominay is more likely to hit target from outside the box than Pogba. Pogba also misses free header from 4 yards. |

obainojazz: How many matches has Pogba played in a row... Let him play 10 matches straight and he'll likely get 8 goals + assists or more. Look at City, Gundogan scores once in a while, Debryune scores.. D. Silva assists.. Rodri has about two or three goals from DM... B.Silva (let me not add him even though he has played in midfield too) Their defenders score goals too.. When season end and you calculate the goals coming from midfield alone.. It would be around 20, you then add assists... The type of Herrera through balls.. How many times have you seen our midfielders play that, with all the speed we have up front... If James is beside a defender, they prefer passing it to his leg Pogba played all four matches in Ausgust and scored nil. He also played 90 minutes against Rochdale and scored nil Last season, Pogba had only 6 goals in 35 matches. The rest seven were from penalties. Rashford is taking penalties this season, so how would Pogba get the goals you are talking about? He is at par with McTominay in terms of goals return. His Assists stats are also below par. As for your other comment, Fred passes between the lines better than Herrera. Herrera has a higher work rate |

Pogba has played 521 minutes this season and has no goal. Same minutes with Juan Mata. Both are tied on just 2 Assists. After playing almost6 matches without a goal, you still think we would have been better off with him. McTominay is our 5th highest scorer who is tied with James. Although James is the most creative in the front three with 6 Asaists

obainojazz: We need a midfielder that makes things happen... Imagine adding Pogba's goals last season with what our attackers are scoring now... We'll surely be better than where we are now. Football is not like that. With Pogba, the attackers goals might be less. Our attackers are less worried about midfield these days offering little supports. Pogba's less work rate could have meant our attackers going deep in midfield to help out like Mane does in Liverpool. (Tooney and Tevez were also doing that). I see them playing more and more closer to the oppoaition box. |

Report: Ashley Young Rejects New Manchester United Contract; Eyes Inter Transfer
JANUARY 09, 2020 Manchester United's Ashley Young has reportedly turned down a contract extension in favour of a transfer to Serie A side Inter Milan.
Sky Sports initially revealed the Red Devils were hoping to convince Young to stay by offering him a new, one-year deal. But Gianluca Di Marzio has said Young turned it down and wants to move to Italy in January.
The 34-year-old will be a free agent in the summer, and according to BBC Sport, he has a deal to join the Nerazzurri when his contract expires: |

afrodoc2: Yes he is LIMITED by his age. He is not as good as he once was. He was mainly a mediocre winger for us but became a decent full back, and his days are numbered. He was better and showed more potential at Villa.
As for Williams i wanted a more gradual introduction but the senior ones (Young, Shaw) are just too useless.
P.S With so many good young full backs in the club that AWB deal was so unnecessary. Without him, we might be down down the table. |

afrodoc2: You are talking stats, i am talking game play. Ability to switch play from side to side fluidly. Ability to consistently pass in between the lines. That is where our midfield is lacking. They move the ball too slowly and end up making the safe pass most of the time.
According to whoscored KDB played 36 out of 37 EPL games in central midfield in 17/18 season, 10 out 19 EPL last season, and even 16 out of 34 as far back as 16/17 season. So that your assertion is false anyway. 1. I did not bring any stats to my comment. It is you who even brought stats. 2. Fred passes the ball between the lines. I see that a lot even from last season. Most times, the rest players dont understand what he is trying to do because they were not used to such. McTominay plays fast. Only Matic and Pogna that are slow. The other day I watch Liverpool, they played slower than United midfilders. Mane even had to drop to carry the ball with speed forward. 3. In your stats of KDB, did you separate CAM from the CM position? This season alone he has played 6 times in CAM |

afrodoc2: Both Young and Shaw are limited. Early on i said Williams will be benching one of them by the 2nd half of the season, i didn't know the young man will be impatient and start benching both of them. Young is not limited. He is only old. From that left he was helping LGV to kill big teams. It was hard to predict which area he would go. He still has those flashes when he plays from the left but his legs are weak now. Remember this guy tormented teams in the EPL while at Villa, creating some of the best play from the wing. But William is perfect for now. In two years, he we will be enjoying him fully. |

Shaw
If there is no huge space ahead to sprint, show hardly goes forward.
He uses one leg and lacks flair opereting with it. Comapred to when Evra, Giggs, Blind had to do things with one leg.
His lack of flair in his left leg means passes are not adventurous and are slow.
He tucks in with the central defenders and leaving huge space on the left back for opposition to advance towards the box.
Reverces backwards at the slightest traffic before him.

He just lost his way along the line. It is because you guys wanted Young benched that you couldnt see his limitations. I pointed them out clearly. Only now you guys can see them. |

afrodoc2: Which of Kante or Sissoko is a creative player?
And to clarify i know the attackers need to improve, but i just don't agree with your attempt to completely absolve the midfield of any responsibility. KDB, Ozil, and Fabregas have been midfielders in this same league. The midfield has a role to play in creating and scoring chances also. KDB only started playing central midfield this season. He was RWF/LWF like Hazard. He also played as number 10, where he had also played a couple of time this season. Ozil is also like that, playing RWF/LWF/CAM. Fabregas returns are high when he is played as number 10. As CM he doesn't do as well. He can also play the false 9. Central midfielders return will be higher in a midfield of three when one is allowed to play near the attackers like Lampard. But in a midfield of two (Scholes and Carrick) the returns will be low. This is why McTominay and Fred contribution cannot be like those of KDB, Ozil, Fabregas. If we have a midfield of three, we can play Pogba close to the attackers and hold him responsible for those kind of contribution |

afrodoc2: Did they beg you to reason for them?
Your logic is flawed and all over the place, that is why only you understands it. Mr Helper. Is not flawed. You misunderstood it. It is simple, our front three have a good return almost as Liverpool. Better than Spurs and Chelsea. So since they argued that the productivity of the front three is dependent on the midfield, can we now say that Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs have poor or even poorer midfields (than ours)? |

I am just summarizing your illogical stance.
You said attack's output had nothing to do with midfield, now you are blaming Liverpool's midfield for their attack's output.
And you say you attend Deeper Life Bible Church? Then you were too poor to understand the logic. I am using their argument to help them reason the Liverpool case. If you say midfield makes our forward poor, then Liverpool is also poor. So now you also blame their midfield. That is what I meant. |

The attack scores goals like Liverpool's attack, it is the Liverpool's midfield's fault for starving their attack.
Issakaba! So what is your own stance? Would you now say the attack is now being fed by our midfielders considering you appeared to join those who said they were being failed by the midfield? But to clear one thing, I never for once praised the Liverpool midfield as being creative. I always said the strength is in their front three which is feared by oppositions. |

patrickmuf: Elampiro, are with the stats. Our attack is still not where it's supposed to be but right now, our midfield and defense to a lesser extent need more attention. This doesn't imply the midfield is poor. Based on your initial argument, the midfield is even to be praised, particularly as I was showing you guys that their chances created were higher than those of Liverpool |

eph12: LFC - Mane + Salah + Firmino 27 goals, 14 assists MUFC - Rash + Martial + James 25 goals, 13 assists So does this in any way imply United midfielders do not work hard? Mostly considering we actually have a front four, not three. But for benefit of easy comparison, let us stick to three. When our front three return was poor, the midfielders were blamed. Now that the stats have gone up rapidly, who is to be praised? Chelsea and Spurs front three have poor returns, does it mean our midfield is better than those ones? |
