If Young left at the rnd of last season, who would be doing his work now? As for Maric, he doesnt have the pace anymore but just look at his passing between the lines. His composure and reading of the game has been good since coming back. |

sinizia: You shouldn't wonder how Shaw came back and displaced him immediately, coaches usually have their favourites and once they are back from any absence, would walk back to their position.
Also, I think OGS is trying to gently ease him into the starting 11 to add more experience to his play. He is learning fast and his body movement is a joy to watch. Anyway, Shaw came back to City game. It was a big match |

Leyqute: Please we need goals now. We don’t need “things he did”.
Nani, for me, is the better player, although it’s very close. Nani doesn’t get rendered useless by a parked bus. Rashford does. But Nani, when he isn’t creative , is horrible to watch. Willian 0.2 Nani's problem was that he lacked confidence to face competition. Nani played his best football when Valencia was injured twice. But as soon as Valencia returned, he would begin to get nervous. SAF made it worse when after two years of both playing for United, he said he preferred Valencia to Nani. He said everyone knew which player he preferred, that Antonio Valencia carried the ball with so much balance from one end of the field to another (from United half to the opposition box). Then he bought Ashley Young again. I think it was in 2010/2011, Nani was being said to have replaced Ronaldo such that United only missed Ronaldo in terms of goals. |

MRTA7: Nani is a better dribbler and crosser. Its a weird comparison because Nani was never really a penalty taker or on freekicks. Rashford has the edge as a finisher because he's a wide forward while Nani played more as a winger. So very strange to compare them. Nani wound frustrate in this team too for sure but I think he would create more chances in this team than Rashford while Rashford would score more goals. 100% You said my mind. No need to compare them. In terms of goals, Rashford is better because is game is goal oriented. On the other hand, Nani is a player you remember for things he did other than goals. |

patrickmuf: Not true. In a 4 - 4 - 2, you have a SS a role Tevez and Rooney played when they were here. You can't compare them to an AMF like De Bruyne or Ozil. I am talking about Rooney playing behind Van Persie 4-2-3-1. He was a forward player and was been called to drop to midfield to play to be one of the middle two. In 4-2-3-1, the (3 and 1) are forward players. Ozil is a forward player. De Bruyne is a forward when played in 4-2-3-1 or in the wing of 4-3-3 same as Lingard does. Lingard is even a traditional winger. Nothing concern Lingard with midfield as we know Carrick and Scholes to be. |

afrodoc2: I said he is a midfielder, you said no he is an attacking midfielder. Lolz. Attacking midfielder is a fordward player. When Rooney was playing the number 10, he was still being considered to be dropped to a midfield role under Gaal because they saw him as an attacking player. Also such players who have played number 10 like Maradona, Sneidjer, etc. They are all attacking players. Even when Messi is used as a 10 |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:37am On Dec 23, 2019 |
patrickmuf: What I mean is that we have the right players to beat teams that sit deep but the selection has been faulty. Lingard isn't creative, Martial is better out wide, Dan James is a speedster who isn't going to be afforded space against such teams even Wan-Bissaka is a liability against such teams. Dalot over Wan-Bissaka, Pogba ahead of Lingard, Martial out on the left with Rashford through the middle and Greenwood ahead of Dan James as RWF rather than right winger. You dont just change a winning team. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:22pm On Dec 22, 2019 |
patrickmuf: We have the players to beat Watford, nobody should say we don't. Lingard had no reason stepping out for the 2nd half. James can't play against defensive teams maybe from the bench. We have the players to beat Watford or average teams by struggling to do so. May be if Lingard had scored, DDG didnt make mistakes, the rest half chances converted too. But one thing, we need some kind of players to complement what we have. patrickmuf: Rashford depends too much on his pace. You can see that Martial came alive with Pogba and Mata on the pitch. I am not one that believes in pace all the time, a bit of brains should do. Keep playing Martial, Pogba and Mata, you will be the one calling for some other players to come take their places. We haven't the complete quality yet. Sometimes it looks good and the other time it is poor with same selection. |

CapitalCee: Honestly its baffles me how people condemn Lingard and Co, and fail to see the number of points DDG has cost us. Check out the calibre of keepers Fergie use in winning leagues. When we had Carrol, Howard and the rest, the team suffered lots of GK errors. Unknown Keepers like Ramsdale, Krul, Debraska, Foster, Pope, Tom Heaton even our own Henderson Keep dropping jaw dropping saves week in week out. But no we must keep the Daniel Akpeyi with spanish passport, my greatest shock this season, was how Ole managed to renew his contract. Please can anyone point to me 1 single save from degea throughout this year that warranted him keeping his place in the team, never mind contract renewal, we should have let him go, bring back Henderson, and then shop for a siutable world class keeper. DDG is now like Bartez. He was good in the beginning but later became Mr errors. DDG has his natural weakness, if these errors are being added, we need to buy a new keeper and DDG goes to the bench if he agrees to compete. Romero has poor reflexes |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:04pm On Dec 22, 2019 |
Leyqute: Maybe we would’ve have won the Europa had De Gea featured prominently in it. We would not have won. Those areas threats that Romero saved that year would have been in the net if DDG kept. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 5:03pm On Dec 22, 2019 |
MRTA7: Sounds like a coaching issue? It could be wrong combination of players. You can only make use of what you have. I think we need to control the game against small teams. That was why he brought Mata and Pogba, it got better but it was too late. Eventually he will get the players he wants, but he has to be clever about what he says in the news in order not to sound desperate. You see now that even Woodward doesnt boast anymore like using such words like "we can do business in the transfer market like no other team can..." |

CapitalCee: I was begging through out the summer, Offfload De gea, offload Degea, no way, next thing his contract got renewed. Point to me just 1 match saving Save from de gea this season, even unknown keepers once in a while come up with spectacular save but for DDG, not a single save, yet he cost us points vs Palace, Everton and now this. He concedes far too many soft goals, eg versus Sheffield United. Thank God I have been vindicated.
Kepa as useless as he is is better than DDG At the other end, Ben Foster was making saves that if it were DDG who made them he would be tagged world class. DDG is a bone in the neck that it is hard whether to swallow or vomit. For me, I have always said he doesn't command his box and causes panic to the defenders when balls in flight are into our box. Just take a look, Romero made great saves on our way to winning the Europa under Mourinho. In one of the knockout games either Q/F or S/F he made a last minute save from a free kick that should have been a goal if it were DDG or many other keepers. He didnt have to dive to save it, he just counted his steps towards the angle and punched away. Phew phew it was it was over with the missed goal from the opponent and we would have been out. It was not the first time he saved such. This season, if I am not mistaken, Romero is yet to concede in the Europa. He doesn't have the reflex but he is in command and takes care of the area threats easily. |
