Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. What is needed now is the discipline required to kill a game. Once we take a lead we tend to relax. Two nil up seems worse and Pogba is the principal culprit. He had a very good game but usually become too casual when we lead. We should play with same purpose, commitment and hunger when we are leading.

Good game from Smalling, but he keeps making very serious mistakes, something he has been doing since he was young. He wraps his hands around a striker when defending long balls into our box and around it. He could have caused a penalty today. He caused a needless freekick in front of the box.

Mostly for central defence now. Too many errors. Jones could not even contest for the ball with Kane to prevent him having a clean header. I don't know why United adopted man marking for ages. It makes our defenders to take their eyes off the ball and on the opponent. It has cost us so much since Vidic and Ferdinand left. Oshea and Jonny at their prime would be doing better than these guys. Not to mention the tough Wes Brown who slotted well into CB in many matches of 2006 2008.

We lost to individual errors. We played better. We could have been up two nil at half time. Lukaku missed an empty net and before then he could have played Lingard and Fred one on one with the keeper.

You cannot be really fit with just two matches into the season, particularly if you missed preseason. Most times, the small teams are more ready in the beginning of the season. But before long, they start falling to their places.

Lol, Coogar argument had no end because he must win. If he thinks you have gained an upper hand for any reason, he will wait for dead night while you are asleep before making another point that will waken up the argument the next day. take a look at the equalizer against Chelsea last season, that build up heavily involved Romelu Lukaku. That was possible because the players were not more than 6 yards from each other, and moved in tandem.

What we observe these days - Anthony Martial/Alexis hugs the far left, Juan Mata/Marcus hugs the far right. These players are not even wingers to begin with, why was money not spent on proper wingers if this is the system Jose Mourinho had in mind? When deploying wing-forwards then let them function as wing-forwards, and that mean they have to be much closer to CF.

One off situation

Mata who doesn't have the legs to run fast is the one still trying to help with a good attacking build up with passes. We could have gotten Mahrez to play from the right. Martial and Lukaku should have been fighting for the number 9. Sanchez from the left.

Martial started the number 9 well under Gaal, but later showed he was not very good. He became better on the left. I think however if we want a fluid front three, we should sometimes use Martial in the middle.

The coach has Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial is his amoury, all have good off-ball movements and positioning. Any can function very close to Romelu and create a balance.

Mostly I struggle to understand why a seemingly deployed 4-3-3 have the other forwards spread so far apart on the wings and Romelu Lukaku can only be available find a teammate for support when he pops up near the sidelines.

When SAF deployed 4-3-3 on champions league nights, movements were swift and uniform, whether it was Rooney or Ronaldo or Tevez or Nani or Giggs or Park you couldn't really point out who was playing as top 9 or acting as a foil.

The system was bad over the weekend and improvements are not noticed, then maybe it will be time to make that bold move to hand over the mantle to Ryan Giggs or have him assist Zinedine Zidane and Micheal Carrick.

The problem with our front three if we were to play fluid 4-3-3 as you suggested is that Lukaka doesn't have the quality of an attacking midfielder. Another issue is the inability of Martial to operate comfortably in the middle (usually where a CAM) could be useful. Rashford is even worse, he just like to run directly with the ball and only cut back when he gets to the line.

So the passing, build up and general play will always be disjointed.

Tottenham were able to play a full team, a team that if played against the top teams last season they could win. If we had Valencia, Matic, Herrera, Sanchez on the field instead of Perreira, Mata, Fred, and even Shaw, I would not argue.
