amb001: Good morning"Masters", I hv started sourcing for info concerning availability of funding in form of scholarship and/or assistanceship frm uni of Manitoba. For the program of study I'm interested in, the Graduate Study Advisor happens to hv a Nigerian name (frm my ethnic grp). My question is dis: I knw my inquiry frm him should b formal but I'm tempted into asking him more about himself, introducing myself as his ethnic brother, and questions like his personal experiences. HW reasonable will dat b? Or shd I go straight to d point and give him my qualifications n experiences n ask abt my chances of landing funding.
Pls no yab me. I need advice as money no dey but brain to read dey. Thx for your assistances so far, masters. *Desperately* Hi. Go straight to the point. |

thesoj: About the airport pickups: out of curiosity, of what nature is the nonprofit that does the pickups? Is it a religious organization or church? Please tell the house what sort of nonprofit it is. There shouldn't be an issue with putting it on here publicly. A couple pages back a gentleman who schools at Waterloo posted that a Redeemed Church he knows does pickups from the Toronto Airport.
I'm not asking to be a pain but I think it would be good to know what sort of organization it is. Also, my sister will be going to Carleton in January if she gets her visa. Thanks. Hey theSoj Thanks for the question. The NGO is affiliated with one of the RCCG parishes here in Ottawa as well. You can check them out on facebook HEREI wasn't quite sure what the limits are for posting stuffs like that. But I'll gladly provide more info upon request. Thanks once again. |

gedtalks: House please can anyone direct me on what to do. I want to do a second study visa application- The previous one I applied for didn't scale through because all my documents were not ready as at the time of application. Amongst these documents is my letter of employment and it was even stated as one of the reasons I was denied. I got a job December last year but I haven't been issued an employment letter because the first 6 months were probation period. The consortium I work for is an EU consortium, so our CEO who I guess should be the one to sign this letter is based in Europe. Our team leader is presently making moves to obtain the letter of employment from Greece for those of us that are up to 6 months old (that includes me). I do not know how to even put mouth to ask for an alternative letter. I do not want to risk being fired or put my Job on the line - as I do not think they will like to hear that .
Now I am really bothered because if I do not do my application as soon as possible, time will not allow it be processed before Fall start session (Sept 8th ). Does anyone have a similar experience of not having a letter of employment to present? Please advice me. Time is not on my side at all. the admission also has a January start session, but my fees (refundable) have already been paid for fall. Hey. An alternative is probably to submit one or two reference letters from your immediate supervisors (or fellow employees you can relate to) at work stating explicitly your work relationship and how your intended study will benefit you as well as the consortium in general when you "comeback" Work I.D? They must have notified you one way or the other that you got the job: Email? print that too It will help if you can state all the reasons why you were denied so people can help more. Cheers |

Omonjoe: Gud pm E family, I am in a need of assistance from any one that can help here.
I got acceptance into a college for a two year PGD and my tuition is $13740Cad. All my documents for TRV are ready except SPONSOR"s documents. The man that promised to help as a sponsor got partial paralysis about two weeks ago and currently in the hospital. I have tried looking for other sponsors but no positive response from any.
Please I need help from anyone here that can provide me with a GENUINE SOA (as a sponsor) and other sponsor's documents to enable me apply for my TRV.
I have half of my tuition already and my salary will keep running because I am on study leave with pay. So, paying for my tuition myself is not a problem.
Please help me actualize my dreams and I will forever be indebted and grateful. I understand how you feel. But even if someone should provide you with such, how do you establish the relationship you have with the sponsor and why he or she is sponsoring you? Its much more than just getting the documents. |

Good Morning to y'all
Ottawa People!
Carleton! Algoquin! Ottawa U!
A friendly reminder to all TRV holders and soon-to-be holders heading down here to Ottawa. There will be scheduled free airport pickups from Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport.(YOW) starting very soon.
This is organized by a non profit Organization here in Ottawa.
We felt the help shouldn't just end here after receiving your TRVs. Some of us benefitted immensely from the tips and advice from this group and felt moved to do our best to ease your coming here to Canada.
We hope people from other provinces and cities can emulate this however they can because it goes a long way.
PM me for more details.
P.S: Some people PMd me a while back but I couldn't respond on time. Sorry about that nigerianewbie and ...I dunno... lol...You can pm me again.
Cheers! |

asihap: Helo guys! I applied for postgraduate diploma on international business in thompson rivers university, canada. But I'm a BSc holder in Human anatomy. But my reasons of going for the programm is because I intent heading a co-operative body on importion of medical equipment in delta state. My elder broda is my sponsor of about 11 million naira in his account. The problem is that I have been deny of US visa 3x. I submitted my application on the 5th of june at canada embassy in lagos. Wil there deny me my application because I was deny US visa 3x? Pls I reali nid ur reply cos I'm tense up for sure Hey. Hope you submitted a strong SOP especially as regards the course change? Apart from that, if you include the required documents in your application and cross checked all loopholes, I see no reason why you should be denied your TRV. All you have to do is wait and take some of this too

Gulean: Good day,my fellow Nairalanders.I have been searching schools and I have found some that I'm interested in. But it seems that all colleges and universities required original copy of secondary and post secondary transcripts to be sent to them directly by my former schools. I was already planning to go and collect the transcripts by myself, then use scanned copies or photocopies to apply for admission to different institution and submit my original transcript if admitted before resuming for studies. I also understand that I need this original transcripts for TRV application. Please house, what do you think I should do?How many copies of original transcripts can my former schools issue out? Has any one of you applied with photocopied transcript to Unialberta, MUnewfound land,Algonquin college, NAIT, Carleton or saskpoly with a photocopy or scanned transcript and succeed? Please quote me,your suggestions are highly anticipated. God bless you all I applied as well with scanned transcripts. Although I was required to mail the original after being granted admission. These requirements are subject to change. Therefore its advisable you check their respective website or contact the school administrator if need be. Your school can issue you as many as you want, as long as you pay for it |

sinie: thanks
thanks my husband is not going for a program, he just wanted to accompany me to help with our daughter. he feels that since he's already going he can also take care of the baby too while i school. am the bookish type and he's really encouraging me to further and is willing to do everything to lessen the stress on me. he works in a bank but has always wanted to quit his bank job and start a buisness; he feels now is the time to go and when we come back we can start the busness. my fear now is getting a Visa for us all in my condition, and postponing it will just make me loose interest in the whole thing. Well, I'd decide you give it a shot! Establishing home ties will be another big issue here though, since you are going with your husband. You have an amazing husband btw. |

sinie: good day all. I want apply to do my masters in Canada against the January admissions. the plan was to go with my husband and 1 year old daughter, however I just found out I am pregnant again and am confused. After much deliberation my hubby and I decided to go on with the travel plans but I need advice from you guys; 1. will I still be given Visa to travel despite my condition, from my calculation I will be due February or march and I intend to start the program Jan 2. will it be better for me to apply to go and give birth in Canada and from there change my Visa to study Visa after the delivery ( I know its possible in the USA but not sure if it is in Canada) personally I will prefer to go ahead with my study visa application not hiding the fact am pregnant. please I need urgent advice on how to go about this as I am running out of time.
thanks my good people Hey. Congrats! The timing of your delivery and program start date isn't going to work well, not to even talk of the season. I'd advice you wait ma and apply as against fall 2016 or beyond. But you can do it if you want to. I have heard of people who did although only few months into pregnancy before travelling. Is your husband going for a certain program too? |
