HealthOlawale Sulaiman: Biography Of Neurosurgeon Who Performs Free Surgery In Nigeria by Elemosho478(op): 11:09am On Jul 25, 2019
Nigeria is a country full of enormous talents who operates both within and outside the country.

One of such people is Dr Olawale Sulaiman who is a professor of neurosurgery and spine surgery. He is also the system chairman of department of neurosurgery at Ochsner health system in New Orleans, Louisiana, in America. Sulaiman also serves as co-medical director of Ochsner Neuroscience Institute and medical director of the most comprehensive spine center in the region.

Dr Olawale Sulaiman is recognised as one of the best spine surgeons in the USA and is skilled in the application of minimally invasive techniques to treat spinal disorders. He also founded RNZ Global with the belief that: "There are tremendous number of brilliant Nigerians in diaspora who will significantly contrute to raising the standard of healthcare in Nigeria, based in the metro area of New Orleans who operates and renders his medical expertise in US and Nigeria."

The motivation according to him: " if I have been given all these opportunities in life and the least I can do is to give back to the society. " He stated further that: “My philosophy is whether you are Nigerian, Vietnamese, an American, everybody should have access to some degree of good quality healthcare.”

Dr Sulaiman's medical mission in Nigeria started in 2010 with his coming to the country every few months. Now, he shuttles between USA and Nigeria every month spending seven to ten days performing free surgery and saving lives.

To achieve his medical mission in his country of birth, Dr Sulaiman agreed with Ochsner to give up 15% of his salary so he can have a flexible schedule to travel to Nigeria. In the last five years, Sulaiman and his team have performed surgeries for over 500 patients.

They have also screened and provided preventative medicine to more than 5,000 people. Ochsner on the other hand has supported his efforts by sending supplies overseas with him. Sulaiman has developed programmes to train Nigerians back home so they can spread healthcare to those with no access.

SportsRhasidat Adeleke Wins Gold In 100m Race At European Youth Olympic by Elemosho478(op): 10:15am On Jul 25, 2019
A Nigerian born Irish speed racer Rhasidat Adeleke has shown again the most populous black nation has bundle of talents.

Rhasidat Adeleke who is 16 years old is an athlete who represented Ireland in the recently held European Youth Olympics (EYOF) in Baku, Azerbaijan and she won a gold medal in the women's 100m final.

This win will be Adeleke's first gold medal as she crossed the line comfortably in a time of 11.70 seconds ahead of Johanna Klymanen (Finland) and Cheyenne Kuhn (Germany).

The Dubliner had won a silver medal in the last edition of the EYOF in 2017. She also competed in the 200m and won gold. Adeleke also won a bronze medal in the Girl’s 4 x 100m.

An ecstatic Adeleke said of her win: “I just felt like I got a decent enough start. I tried to execute my race doing what my coach told me to – just drive, drive, drive. And hopefully by 60m I would try to pull away, and I think what I did. This is what I’ve been praying for all season, and to get the gold – I’m so happy. I’m ecstatic.”

Celebrating Adeleke's victory is Nigerian lady who won a seat as a councillor in Dublin, Yemi Adenuga. She shared the good news of the teenager's win while showing her off with the hashtag #proudlyNigerian, #proudyIrish. See her post below: Yemi Adenuga before her election as a councillor in Dublin was a broadcaster. She is happily married to Nollywood actor Yemi Adenuga, both based in Dublin, Ireland Read

Nairaland GeneralAmerican Allegedly Assaults Towing Van Operator In Lagos by Elemosho478(op): 9:45am On Jul 25, 2019
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos Police Command says it will, on Thursday, charge an American, Breedlove Shawn, for allegedly assaulting and inflicting grievous bodily injury on a towing van operator at the airport.

Divisional Police Officer, International Airport, Lagos, Mr. Danjuma Garba, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos.

Garba said Shawn, 52, would be arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba on two counts bordering on assault resulting in grievous bodily harm.

He said the accused had, on Wednesday morning at the MMIA, allegedly used a car key to injure the ears of 32-year-old Femi Banjoko, an employee of Billafary Towing Services Limited.

Garba said the assault occurred after the U.S citizen was accosted by officials of the towing services, contracted by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, for allegedly parking at a restricted area of the airport and attempted to tow the vehicle.

He said Shawn had been to Nigeria four times to see a female friend (names withheld) who resided in Lagos.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the towing company, Lamidi Falekulo, told newsmen that the American broke his car key in one of Banjoko’s ears, causing blood to gush out.

Falekulo said the victim was immediately rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where an operation was carried out to save his life.

“The man parked at the restricted area where ‘No Parking’ notice was conspicuously written.”

He said Shawn had been detained and the injured staffer taken to the hospital.

It's OK to celebrate your achievement in little things, the big things will come but you can appreciate the little successes, that can motivate you to do better. As far as I'm concerned, UNN did nothing wrong. They didn't ridicule anybody, they listed the top 5 Nigerian Universities. U. I does the same thing when they top the ranking.
That only apply to an individual

UNN is an institution and what people expect from them is just the best

They must not be celebrating mediocrity

Celebrating what is just 10% of the entire ranking by an Institution like UNN is mediocrity

But that VC replied was childish though

Carlyscales:
Insulting people u can't see online reeks of lack of character n self esteem.

Anyway to address ur mirage assertions.

Yes that's true that teachers do interfer in Anambra. But pls kindly tell us a state in nigeria where teachers have not been caught assisting students during extermination??

I'm from east, brought up in middle belt, schooled (sec n university) in north east, worked n served in North west, have business between NE n SW. I'm currently residing n running my company in SW. I've seen it all. Teachers get involved everywhere just like corruption is manifested everywhere in Nigeria, both in mosques n churches.

If u think a state or region is advancing in external exams as a result of teachers interference, sorry, you are deceiving yourself period. I'll praise Obi because he tried but I can never really say same of Obiano.

In ibadan u can easily lose ur job as a teacher in a private school, if u refuse to teach students during exams. Even my family friend came under much pressure to teach students during exams from school mgt in a Baptist college, sohuh

Meanwhile, doing my ssce in NE, it was an external supervisor on his own decided to start teaching students during exams. Because my school had a Dutch as manager n will never allow any teacher close to the exam halls during their subjects. The man just couldn't comprehend why we had to be on our own during, which was never d case in govt school he came from??

So why is Oyo state still languishing in poor position in waec n jamb 3xams with all d teachers interferencehuh
Hate Obi, that's ok, but don't deny his successes, he revolutionized education in Anambra, not by just building structures. Understudy his methods n do same u will have same results period.

Never give reasons for ur failures n that of ur political leaders especially. They don't give a hoot about u, never !!!
They will rather give out contracts to build structures because of d huge kickbacks n commissions rather than painstakingly bringing about solutions in our educational challenges. After all their children will school abroad.
Example, is after Aso clinic was accused of not having string , pcm n working x-tray machine. With a budget of over 3b. Did see ur president n Vp querying, sacking or even investigating any one therehuh. Simple he and his wards never use the facility.

U can remain there giving excuses for the failures of ur leaders, while others are leaving u behind. How did Gombe, jigawa n Borno build massive structures with equipments for their sec n pri schoolshuh. If not by consistently assessing Ubec counterpart funds.
Apart from Ondo n legos, which other SW states have been able to do so??

How can Kwara with more than 20b Paris fund, not pay 400m counterpart refunds, hence have been blacklisted from the funds for more than 4yrs. So never excuse d failures of our leaders
I am from South West and I can boldly tell you that it is only some privates school that engage in malpractice,

Public schools don't engage in it because they have nothing to gain but when it come to South East it is both Public and Private schools

If you want to pass WAEC through malpractice in South West, you have to do it through some private schools but with Public schools it is impossible
