A friend came to me yesterday, he wanted to sell his house to relocate to Canada. He is 42+ yrs. He is assured of a tourist visa that will cost him 1.8m excluding ticket.

He wants to know if it is worth it considering his age. Also he is afraid that if he sells his house in Ilorin (a new site) and the things go south what will happen.

Another thing he is assured is that his visa can be extended before expiration. He wants to know whether he can truly work with a tourist visa of 5 yrs and whether his visa can be extended.

Absolutely NOT! He can NOT work with a tourist visa legally. He might get a menial job that would pay him under the table. The problem with such an arrangement is that the employer would take advantage of his non-immigrant status and use and abuse him. In some cases, the same employer would be the one that would report him to Immigration if he fails to do what his employer wants him to do knowing that he's working in the country illegally. Furthermore, if he gets caught, Canadian Immigration is more stringent than the US and would deport him ASAP unlike the US which would take time to go through the court process before deportation. So, advise your friend whatever he does, NOT to sell his property. The visa agent can promise him heaven on earth now and when it comes down to it, he would leave your friend in a lurch. A word is enough for the wise!

What has either lack of maintenance or a poorly designed and manufactured elevator got to do with a spiritual attack? Let me ask all these no-do-gooders and thieves masquerading as southeast governors and politicians, did the government NOT order citizens to stay home for 3 months during COVID-19? And to add salt to injury, the palliatives that were meant for citizens were stolen by their government representatives. Did the people die? Absolutely NOT! I find it very ironic too that those who used to falsely claim that Igbos love money so much and can NOT afford to close shops, are the same ones that are now protesting that the same Igbos have decided to close their shops and stay home. What a bunch of dolts! If the governors want the sit-at-home to STOP, they know what to do. They should make the failed and lawless government that they serve comply with and obey their own law. The coup in Niger Republic is what happens when you have a dictatorship masquerading as a democracy like what you have in Nigeria where the government is NOT answerable to its people and the president decides which part of the Constitution he obeys. I am surprised that the military in Nigeria has NOT yet decided to go in the direction of their counterpart in Niger. This is because the military does NOT see a difference between them and the so-called democratic government. So, I hope this sounds like a cautionary NOTE to all the dictators in Africa who run oppressive governments that make no distinction between true democracy and the military regime.

What a useless and hopeless country! The so-called Senate needs to do away with the appearance of these appointees for confirmation before it. In the Nigerian context, the appearance of a ministerial appointee before the Senate committee serves no useful purpose. It's more or less a mere formality and a right of passage for these nominees. The process itself is totally flawed from the beginning as these men and women of easy virtue are nominated not for specific positions. Otherwise, how can you appoint a minister NOT for a specific portfolio before he appears for confirmation by the Senate? In civilized societies, individuals are nominated to specific positions in government before appearing for confirmation by the Senate. For instance, when Lyod Austin was appointed as secretary of Defense, he knew what portfolio he would be heading and so are the Senators who would grill him during his confirmation hearing to make sure that he was qualified for the position. The same thing with Tony Blinken for Secretary of State. None of them were put as heads of their various departments after they were confirmed by the Senate. So, your Senate confirmation process is NOTHING but a JOKE and a waste of precious time and effort!
