I just got an admission denial today from New Mexico tech for MSc environmental Chemistry. I had a a score of 1290 and 98 in GRE and TOEFL respectively and their requirement was 1000 and 79 respectively, so am still amiss as to why I was denied. Please can anyone in the house give me advice on safe schools with funding that I can apply to with my profile for fall 2012 admission. I finished with 3.60, and have 2 years experience in a cement manufacturing company as Quality Assurance Officer. Please I need to pursue my masters asap, to further my career and start life early, time don dey go for me ooooo, ma babe one marry.

I have been a member of this forum since 2005 but not had any reason to post a topic until now, I strongly believe that Nairalanders will be come to my aid this time with helpful advice.
I presently work with a manufacturing company as a Quality Assurance Officer with fairly good pay package , but am passionately interested in pusuing a masters degree in environmental Chemistry in the US to further my career. I initiated application to New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology for Spring 2012 admissions. Sadly, I got a negative reply from them today. Unfortunately, I was counting on them alone because I coudnt complete other school application because of some challenges I coudnt wrestle.
I did a thorough research on their requirements before putting in my application so I was I kinda certain I was going to get the admission because I scored far above their requirements, they required GRE of 1000, and a TOEFL score of 79 and I had a score of 1290 and 98 in GRE and TOEFL respectively, and I graduated with a GPA of 3.60 so I am amiss as to why I was refused .Now I intend to initiate a fresh application to three schools this time arround, but am not sure of which schools I should applied. Nairalanders, please help me with safe schools I can apply to that will provide Funding too, I dont wanna waste another year expecting a negative reply

The test was far from the threshold of the difficulty level of an average aptitude test, I dont think this test is meant to screen out candidate but instead to satisfy all righteousness of conducting a test, the tin toooooooooooooooooooooooooooo simpleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee jareeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I was in the same shoes some years back. I got to my final year with a GPA of 3.51 (you can imagine the level of anxiety I was in back then.) but I managed to graduate with a GPA 3.60. I will say it is not too late to improve ur GPA, try and give the best you can, make sure you have an A in ur project, I strongly believe everything will be fine. Mind you, apart from your GPA, there is need for you to sharpen your aptitude, that will go a long way in scaling you past the test hurdle. I have seen loads of 4. guys who couldnt secure a job because they couldnt even pass employment test, for some that passed, they couldnt scale the interview. All in all, apart from your GPA try and sharpen ur aptitude and soft skills, Wish you the best

I have a level of misgivings as to the blantant decision of Justice Salami to take Supreme Court president to court, however, I think being a legal luminary ,he understands the fact that the last arbiter of justice is the court of law, that he has done. All in all, he has proved beyond reasonable doubt he is an apostle of change worthy of emulation, he has proved to young minds like us that we can institute change in our little way. Meanwhile, if you cant beat them, you will have to join them, the most honourable thing to do at this crucial point is to leave the stage , cos the ovation is still loud.

for me my challenge is hw to move up the ladder within my organization. I wok in cement production plant, with a structure that creats no room for promotion. Promotion is subject to vacancy.Though am an entry level guy ,there is only one person between me and the topmost person in the plant, meanwhile the person directly me above cant even become the topmost in the plant, by implication the peak i can get to is the position directly above me. Right nw there are ten of us in the same level, meaning that ten of us will have to wait for the guy above us to leave, before one of us can replace him, unfortunately, the guy above us will likely retire in this position. This boils down to the fact that, one can be at entry level from start to finish of one career, if one decides to remain there.
