Poems For Review / Crude Curse by elfico(m): 11:27am On Jul 26, 2016
Congrats with pats on our backs
For sweats will no longer
Bead our tired brows
And dust will never again
Stain our calloused palms

For we have struck gold
Only its colour is black
Mirroring our state of mind
Not the colour of our skin

We hoped that by refining
The black gold, our hearts
Will also be refined
But the more we refined it
The cruder our hearts became

We bled mother earth
She gave us gladly
Devoid of any “if”
But in our charitable self,
We gave back to the earth
The blood of our brothers

The once little spark
We had hoped will light
Our way out of this dark
Of endless impoverishment

Has been fanned by our greed
Fanned into an inferno
That has consumed us all
And scorched the earth
That has served us so well.

If you got money from dasuki or not?
If u refund money or not?

Dont mind him. When they share loot, they never remember that one is muslim and the other christian or one is northerner and the other southerner. But when the poo hit the fan, they start finding ways to turn idiots against one another.

Properties / Re: Is It Wise To Run Bathing(bathroom) Water Pipes To Your Soakaway? by elfico(m): 6:17am On Jul 02, 2016
If there is a drainage close by, channel it to the drainage. As a poster above me said, u need a septic tank and soak-away.
If your house is located on a land that gets water-logged during rainy season, then channeling it to a drainage is a cost effective option else, the soak-away will get full frequently. But if the house is on a 'dry' land, drainage is still a good option if it wont incovinience others, else just build a soak-away. My house has been built for about 20years now and the septic tank and soak-away have been evacuated just once.

check for the folder called htdocs in C:\wampserver\ or C:\wampserver\apache.
Then move your project there.
Are you using an IDE for your coding?

Programming / Re: Andela Will Empower Africa's Next Generation Of Great Technical Leaders by elfico(m): 8:06pm On Jun 18, 2016
mrdcai:
Andela is a for-profit company that outsources developers to companies abroad. Software outsourcing is nothing new - India's tech economy was basically propped up by outsourcing shops in the past two decades.

According to Andela companies abroad have difficulty finding good developers, and their answer is to provide cheap inexperienced developers with only 6 months coding experience?

As a Nigerian developer, I'm really happy the program is teaching development skills to Nigerian youths, but it's not something we should be celebrating. The only companies that hire outsourced workers are those who are unwilling to pay fair wages to developers in their own country. Andela is simply providing cheap labour for these companies to exploit, and then marketing their business as a humanitarian cause.
you are the third person to I have heard express this view. I was once with some techno-prenuers and they didnt say alot of positives things about andela either.

People commenting here as if 'ladies of the night' are not human beings. Whats is wrong if she has a fiance, 'decent' or otherwise. Most people commenting actually do what she does and even for free. We should learn to stop condemning people, we are usually no better than them.

Politics / Re: True Federalism, Its Advantages And Implications. by elfico(m): 5:18am On Jun 14, 2016
Unbrandedguy:
Having read all advantageous effects. I state the disadvantages:
1. States have right to form state police, Nig govt fears this will create room for state rebellion and subsequently use police for state govt personal purposes.
2. States have right to be autonomous, a room Nig govt sees as introduction to seccession.
3. States control their resources, Nig govt feels this would leave many states in the north impoverished.
4. State govt earns varied salaries, Nig govt feels some southern states will have more money and enslave others.
5. States finally have right to leave or stay as one entity in Nig. A light to achieving Biafra/ND republic, Oduduwa republic etc. Nig govt does not want that to happen..

These are disadvantages..
Its for us to check if they weigh up to, or outweight the advantages.
Good points you mentioned. I believe the advantages will really move Nigeria forward but people are scared of the disadvantages. Can we just practise a Nigerian form of true federalism where we have all the advantages and remove some of the disadvantages. In my opinion, the first disadvantage you mentioned there should not be part of our version of true federalism considering the diversity that we have. And I dont think Northern states will be very impoverished as we might like to believe. My reason for saying this is that I heard that when oil was discovered, the late Ahmadu Bello was excited because he believed that the discovery would distract the South from developing agriculture and therefore make the North an agricultural power house. I dont know how true the story is. On seccession, I read a wiki article that says during the motion for independence, AG sought to include a seccession clause in independence constitution as measure to prevent Lagos losing its cultural identity as the capital of Nigeria, but were hampered by the efforts of NCNC and NPC. I wonder how true that is.

The north sees southwest muslims as second class muslims.

come to Abuja and see how many Yoruba mosques exists.

I leave close to one in Wuse 2.

got talking with Abdul a core muslim from Kano one afternoon on Friday, he said he was going to mosque and wanted me to shift my car.

I said shift my car when the mosque is just down the road.

He said he cant go to a Yoruba mosque....I said whats the ish with it. He said he just cant go there.

that thing puzzles me till today.

In fact I keep wondering why we have Yoruba mosque in the first place.

that is segregation

can any core muslim educate me please. why are Yoruba and Edo muslims very civil

Friday Sermons are given in the language understood by majority of the people. That is why ur neighbour is not going to the "Yoruba" mosque because he won't understand the sermon.

Poems For Review / Re: Enquiry On Copying Poems From Nairaland by elfico(m): 1:20pm On May 29, 2016
Yampotatocarrot:
Good morning all. Please I have a question. Though I've been on Nairaland for a while, but I'm not used to visiting the poem section, hence the question. I want to pick poems from this section of Nairaland for the forthcoming graduation ceremony of a school for the pupils to recite. So my question is, is it allowed or not? Though someone might say why ask when you can just copy it down, but I think it's better this way so that I can do it with a free conscience since most works here are still "fresh". Thanks and Please I need a reply soonest.
Most, if not all works on Nairaland are protected by copyright. That's why you see "All Rights reserved". If you need to use someone's work, just ask the owner. I am certain that most poets here wouldnt mind giving you permission to use their work. Some may have conditions though. For example, most people would let you use their work for free provided it is not for commercial purposes. Hope this helps.

it's not supposed to be special kid... it was meant to show you how dumb the Playstation 2 PES AI is... sliding when you're near the 18 yards.. are you even a gamer?
The player assumes you are going to try to pass to your team-mate directly behind him. Another possibility is that it assumes you are going to shoot. Thats why it is sliding. I dont know the team you were playing against, but it has to be a physical side for their player to have tried to slide like that.
