There is a difference between a dream job and an available job.

You might not get your dream job immediately after service,but there will be alternative jobs that will help give you the requisite skills/trainings needed to get your dream job.

To bring it home,if you are a graduate of Electrical Engineering, and you just concluded your service,it won't be wise to go sit at home. After doing all your CV submissions and while waiting,you can attach yourself to that "illiterate" Electrician (in quote)in your neighborhood.
The experience and technical skill you acquire will differentiate you from other applicants in subsequent interviews.

Also note(aside connection), the first step to getting your dream job is creating a database of companies you wish to work with.

Note that if not for the academic qualification, most electrician that didn't made it to the university are even more technical and competent than some of the graduates.

An official of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, who has been identified as Kola, was electrocuted to death on Saturday as he tried to connect wires from an electric pole to a new building, at the Government Reserve Area, GRA, located at Itanla along the Ondo/Akure highway, Ondo State.

The motorcycle of the electrocuted electricity company official, who was reportedly in
charge of the area on behalf of BEDC, was seen packed under a mango tree as officials from the BEDC later arrived the scene to remove his body from the pole.
