state police system for Nigeria is the way to go in a federal administration.

we should not hold back a state police system because of the fact that we don't know how the state political leadership will use it against perceived political opponents. I think with adequate wisdom, the federal government and the judiciary will sort out any perceived wrong use of the state powers and state police.

if we don't start it today, it must come into effect in the next federal administration. whatever costs considerations or otherwise it is the way forward.

in Nigeria today the various states are going through different economic, political, social developments which was not the case under a unified military junta of the 1990s and beyond. some states are very ready for state police system and they should be encourage to start it. any state governor that don't want it yet could hold on till the time.

it was said that private university can not be sustained in Nigeria sometimes ago but alas today people are scrambling for its establishment. the Nigerian telecommunications services were broadened with infusion of private companies.

Nigeria is too big for one federal police system it broods corruption and tendencies for corruption. the single commanding officer at the top of the police force are always corrupted by the size and large numbers of companies, people and others that sought out his favor or otherwise on daily basis and this alone corrupt the person at the top. the federal legislatures and government officials don't have any serious control over the inspector General of police and its official. if they think they have it is in appointments only which is often intangible, not concrete and therefore often generate abuses.

let there be state police system and anybody wrongly treated by the local police system will use courts of competent jurisdiction to seek redress. lobatan.
